Its 7 AM on a mild Easter morning, 2008.

The Full Moon, one day old, is beginning to wane as it settles toward the west-south-west horizon in the just lighting early morning sky. At 8:01 AM this morning, the last tip of the moon should disappear below the horizon out toward Goddard and Cheney, following the Ninnescah River to Pratt … so you can set your watch by it.

    So Happy Easter everyone.

And here’s one for JR, the two faces of the Democratic Party:

Clinton built unexpected alliances with Republicans.

“Former Rep. Sherwood Boehlert, a moderate who was dean of New York’s Republican delegation, remembers Clinton’s inviting herself over to discuss common goals shortly after she took office in 2001.”

“The two later worked together to successfully reverse a Pentagon proposal to close a military installation in Rome, N.Y. Saving the jobs at Rome and another upstate military base are accomplishments that Clinton cites as evidence of her effectiveness as a senator and as fruits of her position on the Senate Armed Services Committee.”

“Republicans, in turn, were often pleased to be in the spotlight that teaming up with Clinton guaranteed.”

Do Democrats really want a presidential candidate who is so willing to work with “the enemy”?

    From CNN:
A U.S. House committee chairman has begun an investigation into the electrocutions of at least 12 service members in Iraq, including that of a Pittsburgh soldier killed in January by a jolt of electricity while showering.

Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said Wednesday he has asked Defense Secretary Robert Gates to hand over documents relating to the management of electrical systems at facilities in Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth, 24, died January 2 of cardiac arrest after being electrocuted while showering at his barracks in Baghdad.

Take a cue from Jesus: Don’t get hung up over Easter.

  13. Songbird
    Posted March 23, 2008 at 9:25 am | Permalink

I’m not necessarily getting hung up; however, as an indication of how far my life has sunk – or transformed (depending upon one’s viewpoint)……

Nineteen years ago I was in church for many hours. This Easter I’m reading my newly-purchased copy of Valerie Bertinelli’s autobiography, “Losing It – Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time.”

For you young pups out there, Valerie starred in “One Day at a Time” from 1975-1984. She was married to guitar gawd Eddie Van Halen from 1981-2001. I’ve always found her endearing; she has a great sense of humor and gentle self-deprecation. And those qualities serve her well in this book. Get a load of this……….

After splitting from V. Halen, the first dude she dated faked a genital injury to avoid, um, becoming romantic with her. Now, a chick’s gotta have a lotta guts to reveal something like that to the masses.

I thought I had heard it all (mostly from others, given my dearth of experience(s)). A decade ago, a gorgeous young gentleman told me he was homosexual so’s he could let me down easy. Eight years later, I found out he married a very pretty former model – or a former male model who’d undergone a very convincing sex-change operation.

But no dude has ever – EVER – induced a self-administered groinal gangrene just to get Big Bertha off his back. Now that’s both funny and frightening.

The Bible says, “If your eye sees evil, pluck it out…..if your hand does evil, chop it off…..if your…….”

Now wait a minute. Wait a darned minute. If something is bandaged up very tightly, doesn’t it become necrotic? I couldn’t allow any man to go to those lengths to set aside the Songbird when she’s singin’ the blues.

Not that the former Mrs. Van Halen asked the guy to do this. They were evidently kissing on the couch; then the guy bolts up, drops trou, and shows the actress his suspiciously taped-up lower extremities.

I can git purrty mad sometimes, but I wouldn’t even ask my ex to exsanguinate the X-box. Having some exquisite hunk of stuff fake his own sex’yull orientation just to spare my copious feelin’s is inscrutable enough for one decade.

Then again, he did tell me that I’m “a wonderfully unique individual.” That was much nicer to hear than having body parts denigrated, especially when yer pregnant. Of course, this time I wasn’t pregnant since there had been no amatory adventures, so that was even nicer.

I highly recommend Valerie’s book, though. She’s a very charming, funny, and insightful individual. Moreover, she has a long-standing relationship (since 2004) with a very nice man.

I just hope he doesn’t tape down the testes any time soon. That does weird thangs to a woman’s mind…….

Well the bleeding heart press is finally picking up on the financial crisis happening in the auto loan and credit card industries. And once again, it is the “evil business industry” which is responsible – not the individual signing the paperwork.

KCStar.com reports the number of auto loans more than sixty days late on car payments has “spiked” to a 10-year high. Similarly credit card balances written off as uncollectible by banks has jumped 24 percent and late payments are 16 percent higher than a year ago.

How does the newspaper slant this? Their words, “Unorthodox auto loans lured consumers to buy cars they otherwise could not afford.” And, Credit Cards teased holders…..”

Like the subprime fiasco, this will be the next item for liberals and their congress to express hate toward the “evil businessman” and “those poor consumers”. And since
These poor ignorant people were so stupid and were forced to sign those loan papers
for expensive SUV’s, cars, and pick-em-up trucks, “we” the taxpayers OWE them a bailout.

Give me a break bleeding hearts!

It’s time people accept personal responsibility. It isn’t the American taxpayers fault.

But even if congress doesn’t give these stupid ignorant people a bailout , we the consumer will pay in the form of higher rates for the rest of us and higher prices as card companies pass on their costs to consumers and merchants.

Now here it comes (you heard it from American Way first), “we need simplier contracts for consumers to fill out”. We need LARGE FONT and DR SUESS wording on loan documents which let these ignorant and stupid people understand what they are signing.

Mark my post. This will soon be a thread topic on the WEBLOG and posters opinions with a big Waaaaaaaa-Waaaaaaaaa-Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Crying for these poor begotten souls.

The male guitar picker’s ego suffers too, when all the feedback you ever get is “let Ray play.” Was your boyfriend’s name Ray, songbird?

In such a construction as above, where do you put the question mark? — at the end of the question — i.e. — “let ray play?” or at the end of the sentence, as I did. In the former case, the question mark serves as the comma.

SONG BIRD, I can always depend on you to jolt me out of the Political mind set and jog my memory on your subject. Here is one from the other side, I have to best friends and while growing up one want to be an astronaut. While the other only real aspiration was to be married by 18. As fate often does, of the three of us two were married by 20. While the only one who want to be married young did not get married till he was almost 30. He after two years of marriage, his wife came to him one day and told him the Doctor had told her she had Herpes “A” and they could no longer be intimate not even kiss or touch. He stood by her and they were still together for another six months. Finally she said that it was not fair to him and they should separate. But she had no intent to marry again so unless he wanted it there was no need on her part to get a divorce. He agreed and they lives separate for a few more months till she told him that she thought they should go ahead and get the divorce.

Than… One day my friend was driving down a street on the North side of Wichita and notice his ex’s car setting in the parking lot of a apartment complex. He knew it was her car as it was one of those odd classics and there were no others like in the state. He had stay in contact and knew she did not live there. He went to the apartment it was setting in front of and knocked on the door. Yes she answered! It turned out she had been having an affair for most of their marriage. And the Herpes claim was a lie, she just could not stand the thought of him touching her. And thinking he was a man after all and the thought of no more sex he would not have been able to get out the door fast enough! But that is not my friend, he believes in the vows and would have spent the rest of his life with her in sickness and in health, no more sex if that was the case.

Sadly of all of the three us, he was the one that this is worst thing that it could have happen to. Though this is in reality the worst thing that could happen to anyone, man or woman. I have more respect for someone that will be honest and hurt me. Then someone that will lie to me for their own goals. He could have understood if she said I just do not love you anymore. But to go to that extreme is wrong and hurts far more than a simply statement.

US ad bashes McCain as ‘hero of France’

Published: Friday March 21, 2008 AFP

A liberal American group Friday released an advertisement that rails on Republican White House nominee John McCain for backing a US Air Force decision to award a huge contract to Europe’s Airbus.

“A message of thanks to John McCain from the French people,” says the video ad, which is in French with English subtitles and was issued by the Campaign for America’s Future, a self-described “progressive” think tank.

“John McCain, hero of France,” reads a banner on the Arc de Triomphe in the opening scene, and later McCain is depicted as wearing a beret and a curly mustache.

“Thanks for helping the US military choose a French company, Airbus. Tens of thousands of jobs for the French and thousands fewer for Americans, ha, ha, ha!” it says.

“It’s a great day for France. Long live John McCain and long live France.”

The ad was issued the same day as a meeting between McCain and French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris.

McCain has been criticized by Democratic lawmakers for backing a legislative change in 2004 that allowed the deal to take place, and the liberal group cited press reports that said his aides had lobbied for EADS to win the deal.

On February 29, the contract to build up to 179 military refueling planes was awarded to Northrop Grumman Corporation and Airbus’s parent company the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS), Boeing’s arch-rival in commercial aircraft.

It was a stunning upset for Boeing, until now the sole supplier of air refueling planes to the US military.

Boeing earlier this month officially challenged the decision, a move that temporarily freezes the estimated 35-billion-dollar contract.

AW I agree with you for the most part, but will also say that credit be it car, home or general quick loans.
There is a certain part of deception on the lenders part in some companies. Credit card has a great example, within the first year of college the freshman is flooded with credit card offers and the upside it hit very hard while little is said of the downside. Between the age of 18-25 though legally adult they still do not have enough life experience to judge wisely. It is the same with many auto companies credit plans, while in college they offer very low rates for college students for the first four years. sound good and they get a good car instead of depending on some worn out junk. BUT in the small print is the catch, once out of college they interest rate balloons to an outrages rate on the thought that once out of college the income will be equal to the investment of the education. So the payment suddenly goes from a hundred or so a month to over seven hundred a month.

Mean while the reality is that a degree is not an immediate insurance of high income. Nor an immediate employment within the first year of graduation. People need hope at times just to get out of bed in the mornings. Many of them offer hope in the deepest depths of depression, what good would it be to have a million dollars at the end of the year. If you are starving to death today?

I am not making a blanket excuse in general for people drowning in debt, I am say though there is a factor that maybe leading people into those debt.

I wish basic financing was a mandatory high school course. It should count as a math credit at the very least. Teach children how to balance a checkbook, basics about loans, lenders, and the ramifications of the compounding of interest (both as expense and revenue). Teach them about the basics needed for living and a monthly budget:

    Car Loan
    Car Expenses
    Rent
    Utilities
    Insurance(s)
    Food
    Clothing

Add in the nice-to-have basics most will have:

    cell-phone (types of plans)
    Cable TV
    Cable/DSL computer
    Onestar/sat radio/GPS charges

My own children had the deer in the headlights look when we did a “pretend” monthly budget using costs we got out of the classified for renting, and our own home’s monthly costs figured in.

How many others have done this?

We went to college orientation with all our children. I can tell you, at both KU and KState there are sign-up stations for CREDIT CARDS. My children were immediately attracted to the FREE HATS and TSHIRTS signing up came from. (this demonstrated to me a lack of understanding of the implications of signing their signature). The lines were long. I’m sure the colleges get a kick-back for allowing credit card companies to be part of in-processing.

But for all their flaunted value and high techncial learning – our colleges offer zip regarding training for real world finances.

(of course they can’t – as they are one of the biggest partakers in the rip off)

The credit crisis is the ultimate and inevitable result of Republic Party fantasy economics.

“You will be making more money in a couple of years, right?”

“Your house will increase in value over the years, right?”

“The economy will always keep growing as long as we cut taxes for the super-rich, right?”

There are Republic Party fat cats lounging this weekend on yachts thanks to charging interest rates that’d make a loanshark blush on mortgages, payday loans, credit cards, car loans, ad infinitum.

And now the Cons are yelling to borrowers, “It’s your own damned fault for believing our lies!”

The current recession and the looming Second Great Depression is the direct consequence of the Republic Party’s fetish for de-regulation.

And here it comes – the blame game :-)

Blame Bush and party for ignorant and stupid people buying cars they cannot afford and raking up over $6000 average credit card balances!

Mindlessly putting your ignorance on posts.

Credit card rates have been been outrageous at least since the 1970’s (as far as I can account for), and people are still spending more than they have available. I’m sure people were thinking about Bush – when they just had to buy that widescreen TV for the NCAA tournament. HA-HA!

Auto salesmen have had a reputation as sharks since the Model A, but you blame “fat cat repubicans” for some diabolical plot to rip off stupid people.

Don’t forget who is filling Hillery’s campaign treasure.

And BTW, it isn’t just republicans sitting on those boats.

As long as you point fingers, remember you have a few pointing back at yourself. Nothing will get resolved by blaming a political party for stupidity of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Of course, the new entitlement programs Clinton is tossing around to garner votes will also produce deficit spending.

But continue to remain blind to the facts. I think it’s funny. My cars are paid for, and my bills are paid in full every month. I’d kill the mortgage loan too, except it provides me an opportunity to use the long form…

    Zombie Day?

That would be tomorrow. JC the Man, was hung on the tree on Good Friday. He fulfilled the law and died sometime late Friday afternoon/evening. The Jewish Day starts in the evening.

To further fulfill the law, JC had to be dead three days and THREE NIGHTS. He actually got up on Monday.

But, early church cat lickers couldn’t agree on dates and Monday didn’t fit into their calendar very well. So they invented a magic bunny, not found anywhere in the bible, and threw in some magically dyed eggs, also not in the Christian bible but from an earlier pagan belief and decided to celebrate Easter on Sunday.

Maybe they didn’t want a national holiday like Christmas. Maybe they needed the slaves to work a full workweek since they already made Sunday holier than the rest of the week. Who knows?

But the mummy will have to wait until tomorrow.

Funny how the Christian holidays happen to coincide with the Equinoxes. It’s like they wanted to usurp some else’s traditions in some form of religious plagiarism.

    Clinton’s Gutter Politics

    http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-talk/2008/03/richardson_scorns_clinton_aide.html?hpid=topnews

Richardson Scorns Clinton Aides, Defends Clinton
    By Zachary A. Goldfarb
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said today that the people around Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton practice “gutter” politics and that they feel entitled to the presidency, a day after an informal adviser to her campaign compared Richardson to Judas for endorsing Sen. Barack Obama.

James Carville told the New York Times that Richardson, a former member of Bill Clinton’s Cabinet, had committed “an act of betrayal,” adding that it “came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out [Jesus] for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic.”

“I’m not going to get in the gutter like that,” Richardson responded on “Fox News Sunday.” “And you know, that’s typical of many of the people around Senator Clinton. They think they have a sense of entitlement to the presidency.”

I do not have the greatest of opinions of Wal-Mart, nor their benefits whom I have a point of contention with.
But this is beyond the pale! An associate whom had been with the company for eight years, was in a accident when a Semi hit the car she was in. She is in a nursing home and has no short term memory along with suffering with not having memories pass the accident. The Wal-Mart insurance paid the medical bills and her care in the nursing home. BUT there is a clause in the policy that states if any monetary awards are grant in a settlement. That the company has the right to take the money to recoup the money they have spent under the insurance coverage. The family was awarded over $470, 000 in a settlement and Wal-Mart took them to court demanding $470, 000 to recoup their expenditures. The court sided with Wal-Mart and now the family is on the edge of losing their home and the husband has been force to divorce his wife so she can be covered by Medicare!

They are trying to appeal the decision and it might in up in Supreme Court.
Man I had just recently learned that there is a clause of the life insurance that Wal-Mart has available to the associates. There is in the fine print it names the company as a beneficiary along with those the associate names on the policy. So if an associate or anyone else that dies that was covered by the life insurance. Wal-Mart get part of the money!

  66. Posted March 23, 2008 at 5:02 pm | Permalink

WD — IF WalMart pays a portion of the life insurance premium on their associates, then they would be entitled to a portion of the proceeds of the policy… At least their associates can afford life Insurance that way…

Chas the way Wal-Mart explains it is that the associates life is a part of the assets of the company. Therefore the lost is a cost to the company, the reality is that an associates life is as much of an asset to the company as toilet paper is for them when they need to go to the bathroom. Have it available, use it till the need it through and than flush it and give not another thought to it. There are many company that have the same thought process about employees. The difference is that Wal-Mart put on a false face about it.

Yep, that’s you, hence the name McCreepy.

    ————————–
It all makes sense now. Door King aka WSClark kept bringing that up.

    Now we all know why.

The mere mention of it sent Door King aka WS Clark off to search for his little boy porn magazines.

Door King aka WSClark loves to make testicles references and does it as often as he can. (11:10pm post)
