All this time I thought banks were reporting the cash transactions of their customers to the feds to catch terrorist. Guess they were right, Wall Street crooks were terrified of Spitzer.
The overflow homeless shelter is now closed and we are in desperate need of 30 degree or better sleeping bags. If anyone has a good used one or is willing to buy one, please contact me through our web site. Thanks to all!
I don’t know why this surprised me so much, but it certainly did. It smarts of playground bullies trying to keep others off of swings and things. And we wonder why society is turning out youth who are so ‘me’ orientated.
La Jolla activist wants bench-warmers to block transient sleepers
SAN DIEGO—A community activist thinks a few couch potatoes, strategically placed on sidewalk benches in an upscale La Jolla shopping district, will keep transients on their feet and on the move.
Esther Viti, who oversees the donation of public benches for a local merchants’ association, sent an e-mail to 45 other activists last week asking them to sit in three-hour shifts, no bathroom breaks allowed.
“After all, you MUST OCCUPY THAT BENCH continually for three hours to prevent that homeless person from sitting on that bench,” the e-mail said.
Viti said donors weren’t happy that transients were sleeping on benches they had provided for the public.
The group initially tried to combat the problem by installing benches with metal dividers that split the seats. Transients simply began sleeping upright, said Deborah Marengo, president of the merchants’ group Promote La Jolla.
Viti said the bench-warming idea came from San Diego police Capt. Shelley Zimmerman during a conversation about how to combat the problem. Zimmerman said she explained to Viti that homeless people have as much right to sit on public benches as anyone else.
Viti said no one has offered to sit a shift yet. Some potential recruits expressed concern that the bench brigade could provoke retaliation from displaced transients.
Professionals who deal with homeless issues said Viti’s strategy might succeed in getting people to move on, but would do nothing to address the underlying problem of homelessness.
“It’s pointless and a waste of time,” said Rosemary Johnston, program director for the Interfaith Shelter Network.
In 2006, the Regional Task Force on Homeless estimated the homeless population at 9,600 countywide, which included 4,400 people within the city of San Diego.

“Al-Qaida in Iraq didn’t emerge until 2004, a year after the U.S.-led invasion.”
Finally, here it is in print. We did not go into Iraq to fight terrorist, and our presence there attracted AL-Qaida to Iraq.
Excellent editorial by Davis Merritt in the Eagle today. I despise the practice of pundits treating an election like a sporting event (sort of like the playoffs or an NCAA tournament). If it wasn’t for organizations like factcheck.org, you wouldn’t be hearing at all about the truthfulness of what a candidate said, only about whether it was effective.
I, for one, am really, really sick of the Cokie Roberts and Tim Russerts of the world.
Speaking of ME oriented culture, does anyone else find those Cheeto commercials just downright wrong?
I don’t get my way, someone is being rude to me, so I can be obnoxious back?
I’m really not liking the examples out there. There’s one Capn Morgan commercial where the lady calls, he’s at the bar, and everyone is lying for him. He comes out the hero, and she looking gullible for believeing him.
No wonder society is going to pot, look at these fine examples.

=================================================
The above post by Chas is perhaps the sickest most cruel post I have ever seen on ANY blog. It’s on yesterday’s Open (3/10), but I shall not repost the whole thing here.
BLOG EDITORS, I would hope you take note and take the appropriate action against Chas.
And Regular, I hope you take appropriate action too. My condolences on your loss, if indeed this is a factual, though totally inappropriate post from Chas.
Max–
JM has repeatedly stated over and over again that he “moved to Mississippi.” So . . . it couldn’t possibly be he, now could it.
Also, Max, JM-Regular has repeatedly stated that this is just a blog and that words don’t matter–nics don’t matter, nothing matters.
It’s all just a game to him.
So he can’t suddenly take offense at this point . . . these are the rules he plays by.
Max, I think you are already trying to be a Flamer, and it isnt even 10:30!! Why dont you just give it a rest??
Capn, I would expect better even from you. I would NEVER expect this from a Christian Pastor.
The obituary Chas posted does not specify the location of James, not that it matters.
You wouldnt expect a Pastor to post an obituary?? Max, what are you drinking??
Kansas Supreme Court holds the Kansas funeral picketing law unconstitutional. Per the article, the constitutional defect is the “triggering” provision.
http://www.kansas.com/news/updates/story/338015.html
What Chas did is just as bad as the protestors at veterans funerals, and this coming from a proclaimed Christian pastor. Only on the blog, there’s no Patriot Guard.
Blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada, Attack Chas’s profession yet another day… Yippeee!!
Chas, you are a sick, disgusting, sorry excuse for a human being.
It’s an obituary Max… It’s in the PAPER, Max… Did you happen to notice how many lives the young man quite possibly saved, through organ donation?? Do you think before you type, Max??
Vaughn… too bad on that funeral picketing law! I thought it might hold up!
Max, how many 20 year old kids do you know of who would even THINK of filling out organ donor cards?
I do wish you would learn to READ!!
Max, you seem to not have a decent brain in your head at all!! That boy did a marvelous thing — and all you can do is BITCH???
Ah, an opinion a Constitutional law professor to love. Skimming it (don’t have time to give it a full, careful reading), the constitutional issue involves a violation of the separation of powers doctrine. Further infirmity is found in the absence of a “case or controversy”, thereby asking a court to give an advisory opinion, which is not a proper function of an appellate court. Have fun with this.
http://www.kscourts.org/Cases-and-Opinions/opinions/supct/2008/20080311/98691.htm
Besides, Max… The James on this Blog doesnt spell his name the way this boy spelled his… All I have seen here on the Blog is James McCluer…. Now, do you want to READ it again, Max, or do you want to continue to look REAL stupid???
I need to go for now… Back later!! Have a good day everybody!!
Vaughn-
I couldn;t get your link to work, but I found this:

Chas, you are a sick, disgusting, sorry excuse for a human being.
=========================
I am all of this because I found an interesting story about a 20 year old boy, who had the foresight to sign organ donor cards, to SAVE lives???
Max, you are disgusting!! Truly disgusting!!
lj, it seems there was an update, and my original link is expired. Your link works to access the update.
BTW, lest I forget, well argued by the Attorney General’s office.
Chas, you are all of those things because you new who the father was and BOLDed his name! You didn’t post it because it was a young man who donated organs. You posted it because it appears to be the son of a POSTER on this BLOG!
Truely sick!
As much as I hate the Phelps bunch, it seems to me that the Kansas Supreme Court is telling the Legislature to man up and make its own decisions and quit trying to push the difficult legislative decisions off on the court.
Dennis, a good synopsis of the Kansas Supreme Court opinion in “non-lawyer” terms.
Uh, outraged right-wing dudes, Chas is correct.
The last name is “McClure,” not as our favorite poster spells his.
Better see the doctor about the burst blood vessels in your necks . . .
I am aware that the legislature is concerned that there will be a court challenge of the law, if one be passed without the provision found to be unconstitutional, which could lead to a great deal of time and expense. The worst scenario is that after trial, appeals, etc., the law is declared unconstitutional, and the legislature would again be forced to deal with it (not to mention the potential for damages to be paid). The legislature tried to get an advisory opinion; it failed. So, as Dennis says, it is time for it to “man up”.
As a nonlawyer, i am not familiar (and don;t want to take the time to look up) all the cites. However, it seems to me that the Supreme Court made a very persuasive argument, and like Dennis, I think it is time for the legislature to “man up”
and think for itself. It seems to me that by decision, and plain logic, it is not the role of the Supreme COurt to be an advisory body to the legislature.
“But the court ruled that the trigger itself was unconstitutional, violating the seperation of powers by making the court a type of advisory panel to the Legislature.”
Vaughn – So it’s not the law that was struck down, just the “trigger”?
The best avenue of attack is through the civil cases for damages.
Okay, if I would have kept on reading my question would have been answered.
lj, Marbury v. Madison is the only one you need. :-)

Chas, you are a sick, disgusting, sorry excuse for a human being.
I agree Max. Chas continues to be ever more disgusting each and every day.
Just a crash to drive-by Hank.
If Chas’ post was innocent, why was the name bolded by chas?
Quite obvious attack of the most vile nature I believe I have seen on a blog. Attacking a poster, the poster’s family… but attempting to rub a posters nose in the death of a family member? Disgusting.
A good catch Chas.
But I think ya got the wrong guy.
Our James doesn’t seem to be capable of fathering kids. And my guess is he’s never even kissed a girl.
Ya see that alot among cons.
JR and Capn want to ally with Chas on this, then that says much about those two.
Surprised by Capn, but not by JR.
He was pointing out a coincidence, that’s all.
Sheesh, you tighty-righty-whiteys get more upset about a fake outrage than you do about a real one.
For instance, today’s front page of the Eagle–”Saddam Had NO Al-Qaeda Ties” from the Pentagon’s own study.
Oh, well. Nothing to see there . . .
It doesn’t matter if the name is spelled wrong, the intent is still there. What if someone did that to you J R, about your son?
Oh, I think JimmieMack has kissed a girl before, J R.
But then she said, “Okay, you pay extra now, G.I.”
And if a non-liberal were to post on a possible death in the family of a liberal poster? You panties would be so deep in you a$$ you’d be spitting elastic and cotton.
“What if someone did that to you about your son?”
JimmyMack has repeatedly said that he doesn’t have a son and that he was never married.
Oops. Wait, as JM, he said he was married. He also said he was divorced. As Regular-Republican, he said that he was never married.
So we take him at his word . . .
I have to say that I did a double-take when I read the obit this morning – the name just caught my eye – but I did notice the difference in spelling.
What is really sad is that a 20 year old young man has lost his life – far too young to die.
The rest of this is just so much back and forth.
awwww, how sweet…
Radical Left Lib Bloggers talking about me and I have barely been online today. :)
They’re just jealous you know.
Cause I’m smarter, stronger, taller and able to leap small clowns in a single bound. :D
BTW Chas the Pastor of Hate, the Minister of Mayhem, the Priest of the Deceased Thinkers, the Dahlia Lama of Diseased Minds – that obituary is not about me nor anyone that I know.
But do carry on…
I’ll be in and out of the blog.
(chortles)
…and now, for something different…
I planted 1,800 onions yesterday, and have about that many to plant for today. 300 lb of seed potatoes next week.
100 baby chicks in the next two weeks.
Damn, spring isnt even officially here, and I’m already six weeks behind.
And ready for ripe juicy tomatoes. Oh well, a girl can dream. heheheheh.
Reggie is less outraged about it than his panty-wad posse.
Probably because he knows full-well that he or anyone else on the reich would have posted the same thing if they could have . . .
Clinton campaign plays the race card:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/03/clinton-backer.html
I see the denezins of darkness Capn/Chas/JR NIC are at it again (the JM crew).
Remember when they supported a boycott because of the nasty things going on the blog?
As was said at the time: They truly are the worst of the lot.
Too bad people can’t just stick to posting opinions on the opinion blogs.
“They’re just jealous you know.” ROTFLMAO!!! Yeah, right… ;)
BTW, as far as I know, IIRC, the James on this Blog has never even claimed to have any children!
SOOOO Just what is it you idiots are REALLY Flaming about??? Huh???
“I did NOT bold what I posted out of the Obit”
Liar liar pants on fire…
My my the preacher man has blown a gasket…
Regular — I KNOW the obituary wasnt about YOU or anybody you know!! I have seen the spelling of YOUR last name… I DO know how to read… I was interested in the young man in the Obituary… because he had enough insight to have a Donor Card, and save the lives of at least FIVE people in his untimely death….
Now, WHAT IS YOUR BITCH with that??? Huh???
“Flaming. Disagreement is to be expected, but personal attacks on other reviewers are off limits.”
“all of you Bitchers and Moaners”
“You bunch of panty waste SPAMMERS”
“UNLIKE ALL OF YOU BITCHERS AND MOANERS”
“YOU IDIOTS CAN MAKE A NOTE OF THAT”
“IF YOU PANTY WASTES CAN”
“WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS”
Hud, you simpleton… YOU and YOUR mental midget friends are the ones attacking ME!! Dont you even DARE put it on me!! You attack me for no reason, you bet your sweet bippy I am firing back!! NITWIT!!
