For Legislature, maybe less is more

capitaldome2.jpgRic Anderson of the Topeka Capital-Journal finds a silver lining in the 2008 Legislature’s coal-plant obsession: “For those who subscribe to the theory that the best legislative action generally is none at all, the 2008 session has been one to remember.” Noting that one of the only nine signed bills so far this session requires the state to purchase liability insurance on watercraft used by wildlife and parks personnel, Anderson concluded: “At least we can rest assured the state will be covered if a park ranger’s boat pulls loose from its moorings and scratches some rich guy’s Jet Ski. It’s not a $3.5 billion power plant, but that peace of mind is worth something, isn’t it?”

Maybe legislators should be forced to take the doctor oath about “first, do no harm”? I think governor leadership should take it too!

When Republicans do nothing, it probably is best for the state.

The 2008 Kansas Legislature deserves a citation!

They should be cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Don’t complain about the Legislature not passing much this session. The stuff that’s come up and been knocked back down is NOT good for Kansas. Quite a few radical “conservative” centerpieces have been batted back into committees, or allowed to die without hearings or coveted places on General Orders.

I’ll tell you all this much: They’ve been here, and they’ve been going through the motions, and all they’ve done is kill a few rainforests (you have no idea how much paper this place runs on).

“They’ve been here, and they’ve been going through the motions,”

no kidding. “going through the motions” is the operative phrase. Results? Eh, not so much.

But I agree Tom, you and others have done a good job of beating back the bad stuff.

HOW TF does Kansas manage to put TWO mossbacks like neufeld and morris in charge of the legislature? You eastern Kansas folks cant overcome the wingnut ksgop and the folks of southwest Kansas?

Neufeld, morris, huelskamp, powell, et al have held the ENTIRE state hostage for their little project. Jesus WEPT! Give ‘em an economic development GRANT and send them home. They can say they brought home the bacon..

…and the rest of us will be able to BREATHE.

And perhaps, the rest of the ks legislature could get some REAL work done?

Now… just imagine… THESE butt wipes being in charge of ANY change in water policy regarding big irrigation.

    Your tax dollars at work…

    NO INCUMBENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

…and as usual, the Hays Daily completely misses the point on the ozone and air pollution levels in western Kansas…
