Good for the Kansas State High School Activities Association for approving two proposals this week to prevent discrimination against sports officials. The proposals were in response to the recent refusal of St. Mary’s Academy near Topeka to allow a female official to work a boys’ basketball game, because the school didn’t want a woman to be in a position of authority over boys. Member schools are now required to accept qualified officials regardless of race, gender or any other factor that could be construed as discriminatory, Associated Press reported.

Yawn…
Another solution in search of a problem.
I’m glad they chose to do the right thing. Now if only St. Mary’s would remove themselves from the dark ages.
Now fundies are going to whine about how they are persecuted because they can’t treat 51% of the population as inferior and worthy of oppression.
Oh yeah…wait till they come to an Islamic school. They will do damn well what they want when they want.
The High Schools in Dearborn MI all have prayers DURING the game and the ACLU doesnt do one thing. Dearborn in now almost a completely Muslim city. If you interfere with them they will threaten to kill you.
Quite a program they have going.
The new WalMarts have had to adjust their clothing and food stuff according to their rules. The manager is a big Hamas supporter…so Walmart is looking to the future.
Try saying your little Christian or other prayer around here at a football game and guess who will be on your ass….ACLU is another Liberal Fascist group supporting Islam in its continuing overthrow attempts.
Mrbill, what would be the name of that school? A little light on the details in your post.
I would think that if a team stops and has prayers in mid game that makes it easier for the other team to score some points.
mrbill,
The Muslim schools I’m familiar with are privately funded religious schools, and may legally stop and pray anytime they want.
Praying for points, no matter what religion is usually less than successful, and doesn’t appear to constitute cheating under current rules.
kind of off topic there mr bill… the post was refering to the KANSAS state high school activities association, and Dearborn MI is not in ks. So it doesn’t apply does it?? Let Michigan do whatever they want, and let’s do our best to stop discrimination in Kansas.
And by the way, even though it’s a popular topic from the pulpit, trust me Christians are NOT discriminated against. No matter what Joe Wright or Terry Fox tells you, it just ain’t happenin. Sorry.
The whole “persecuted Christian” rhetoric is just that…no grade school, high school, or college student is going to be arrested for praying or carrying a Bible in the public schools.
The right wing fundamentalists want to spread the false propaganda that the Christian faith is endangered in this country, when it’s totally the opposite. Their real agenda is to rewrite the Constitution so that the whole country is governed according to Christian principles and to the exclusion of every other religion.
Those peace loving Christians. Always exhibiting kind, tolerant, loving, peaceful spirits. /sarcasm
Doug, here is the link to the info on Fordson High or known locally in Dearborn/Detroit as “Hezbollah High”

And YES it is a PUBLIC High School
Thanks Mrbill but apparently you couldn’t read your own link. The page links to a USA Today article. In the article it shows a student leading other students in prayer. That isn’t illegal. It’s only fundy delusion that thinks prayer has been outlawed in schools. Perhaps if your Christian buddies haven’t been telling so many lies then you wouldn’t have looked so foolish condemning the ACLU for not going after something that wasn’t illegal.
What would be illegal is if an employee of the school lead the prayer or school property was used in promoting the prayer. But these were students praying with other willing students.
Maybe you ought to get your news from someone other than a hate monger like Debbie Schlussel.
