Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday blasted a state lawmaker who has called for an investigation into a board game created by her college student son, John.
That’s right: Sen. Tim Huelskamp (in photo), R-Fowler, called on the Kansas attorney general to investigate the prison-themed game, called Don’t Drop the Soap, which Huelskamp called obscene. Oh, please.
At a news conference, Sebelius said the controversy was much ado about nothing. She added, “I find it extraordinary that this becomes a topic of a Legislature that can’t seem to move on any of the issues before them.â€
Maybe her son could come up with a Legislature-themed game, called Don’t Get Anything Done.

The Governor’s son’s actions with that idiotic board game represents once again the dumbing down of America’s young people. To make light of the very serious matter of incarceration of prisoners represents very poor judgment on the part of the Governor and her family.
The sooner Sebelius and family leave Kansas for Ohio or wherever, the bettet.
The whole mess is absolutely stupid, but the Governor has just as much or more responsibility as anyone. She obviously does not control what is happening in her own home.
While she is pushing her national profile, she isn’t watching issues which can damage her image. If she can’t manage something as simple as this, how will she handle something important?
Recent polling indicates that, despite ALL the ridicule and vitriol she has received from you and the radical right, Gov. Sebelius continues to enjoy a 67% approval rating among all Kansans - ALL KANSANS I repeat. I guess that puts JWink in the 33% category. Interesting isn’t it that this kind of public approval is enjoyed by an incumbent who has been in office for going on 6 years (whre was Bush’s rating after 6 years?), by a Democrat (in a state where Democrats make up 30% or less of the registered voters), and by a woman? You are grasping at straws, sir, but you and Huelscamp are welcome to continue to inhabit that echo chamber of strange ideas and bad politics.
Throw the bum out! We deserve beter than a do nothing legislature!
I loathe Sebelius but c’mon…her kid made up a game in the home he resides in. Is this what we pay our legislator’s for? For real? Indignation feigning, self-righteous, good “Christian”, pandering Republican “leaders”. The two, equally mindless parties, fight amongst each other over nothing. While real issues that screw this country and our state beyond oblivion are ignored and left un addressed. Everytime these idiots propose this kind of garbage, we need a journalist on their shit, daily, every hour on the hour. We need to catch them, cheating on their spouses, touching little boys, bathroom stall trysts, smoking crack…anything. I want war with these people. If there were a dime to be made in journalism, I’d do it in a heart beat.
Jesus Christ laughed…weeping is for sissies!
“Christian-Republican” Uber Alles.
“The Laughing Jesus”…great book.
Won’t Christians be surprised when they find out who Jesus really is?!?
heheheheh.
It’s the Fundamentalists and Literalists that scare the crap outta me. Shit, I’m being a heretic.
I guess literalists and fundies are all that there is huh?

“The Governor’s son’s actions with that idiotic board game represents once again the dumbing down of America’s young people.”
Well, duh.
I dunno. But when I was a college student a lot of stupid stuff seemed funny. The Gov’s kid is away at college and came up with a class project. Like most (literally) sophomoric humor, it’s crass and obvious and outrageous and just a little bit funny.
“To make light of the very serious matter of incarceration of prisoners represents very poor judgment on the part of the Governor and her family.”
As if her college-aged kid, away at college working on a class project is supposed to pass every assignment, paper, and test to the Governor for approval?
We only know about this particular story because he happens to be the son of a governor. Just how many other college kids’ homework makes the Associated Press?
Pure politics…it almost appears that this Fowler person, seeing the gov’s ratings, will do anything to try to lower those ratings. And, he winds up looking petty and partisan. What a clown.
I agree, the investigation is stupid. Drop it.
If Sebelius Junior wants to make an ass of himself, by all means let him do so - it’s a free country.
I’m thinking the legislature needs to spend their time more productively. For instance they could investigate an athlete. US Rep Waxman could advise them on how to get it on TV.
lol Outlander - true true

It is not just limited to college, I was attending a tech school for computer programming. One of the assignments was to come up with a slogan for the pro shop at a golf course in systems analysis.
The slogan we came up with was directed at women golfers, we thought it was quite funny. Until we gave the presentation to the owner of the school. “WE HAVE THE BALLS YOU LIKE TO PLAY WITH!”.
LOL and I helped! heh
Writerdog, I’m going to write our crusaders and demand a senate investigation!
You really thing there needs to be an investigation? How about the legislature? Or perhaps the legislature should study this board game and use it as reference on how to create an issue out of nothing to avoid facing and acting on realistic issues. Yoda; I feel the force is strong with this one! Let us embrace this (explicative deleted) board game and proclaim that “NOTHING” is sacred and spin accordingly.
On second thought, maybe it’s best they keep themselves occupied with busy work, rather than screwing something else up!
Wait, Im confused on one hand we got conservatives saying how making light of a serious issue “prison rape” is wrong and on the other hand the same people often claim that prison is a glorified country club. that prisoners usually getting raped are, rapists and child molesters to me seems like poetic justice, or karma.

I agree with you about everything except one point, the reason this game received so much attention is because he used the Governor’s address as the “corporate” address for the game. But even then, he’s a kid at college, and I’m sure he didn’t think about his mom’s career when he was doing his project.
What’s te news today, the U.S. has more prisoners tha China. Heard something like 1% of the population, not sure if that’s current prisoners, or both current and former.
And, of course thanks to bush/rove we have our politial prioner, the former Gov. of Alabama.
