Will McCain call on Bush to help?

mccainbushhug.jpgNow that President Bush has all but endorsed GOP nominee-to-be John McCain, the question of how and how often the two might campaign together must be answered. The New York Times’ Elisabeth Bumiller noted the “difficult calculus the McCain campaign faces: Using Mr. Bush enough to try to make the tough sell of Mr. McCain to conservatives but not so much that he will drive away the independents and some moderate Democrats that Mr. McCain is counting on in November.” One possibility is that Bush will focus on helping GOP House and Senate candidates in states McCain can consider safely in his pocket. One such state is Kansas, where at least the 2nd Congressional District is sure to be competitive (though Bush’s campaign visit there two years ago didn’t seem to help).

Meanwhile, expect the Democrats to do a lot of mentioning of “Bush-McCain,” as if they are sharing a ticket. (Of course, if McCain does as some are suggesting and taps Jeb Bush to be his running mate. . . .)

I guess the word dynasty is above your understanding, Rhonda.
Jed Bush as a running mate with McCain?
Dream on, it is not going to happen and if it did happen, it would be political suicide!

And while I disagree with his politics, poor ol’ Jeb Bush is truly a tragic figure. He was the smart Bush brother; the responsible one who didn’t get DUI’s and busted for coke and failed in the West Texas oil boom.

But Jeb’s dunderhead brother screwed up the Bush brand so badly, an experienced chief executive from a key electoral state cannot be named to the Republic Party ballot.

I think that would be an excellent ticket — McCain / Jeb Bush! I can hardly stop smiling just thinking about it.

George Bush helped Jim Ryun in Kansas.

    Ryun lost.

George Bush helped Chris Chocola in Indiana.

    Chocola lost.

Bush brings with him the curse of a thoroughly discredited man, bankrupt of ideas and wholly without honor and integrity, craven, corrupt and cowardly.

    “Bring him on.”

Too bad for Jeb, the prodigal son beat out the good son! Maybe that’s why the RW love GW soo much.

With the lowest presidnetial approval ratings in memory, I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to want Bush’s endorsement/campaigning.

I know RD! But I still can’t get the smile off my face. Imagine all the talk of Terry Schiavo and the power Jeb had to get the POTUS and Congress back to DC in the middle of their vacations — that ought to prove the ticket is truly conservative, don’t ya know! Yep, excellent addition to make the conservatives accept the ticket.

I know people in Florida who love Jeb and people who don’t. Frankly, the only one who might have some real smarts is the sister who has kept herself out of the picture.

I would like to see McCain pick a different guy from Florida:
    Martinez!

However, campaign finance issues might stop that one.

Guess who is supporting George W. Bush, bigtime, these days?

“Mr. Geldof praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement.

Mr. Bush, said Mr. Geldof, “has done more than any other president so far.”
