Why not Trousergate?

pantsAfter Travelgate, Filegate and Monicagate, why not “Trousergate”? That’s what an incident is being called in which state Sen. Jim Barone, D-Frontenac, stuffed some polling documents in his pants at a recent state Democratic Party retreat and then headed for the door. Participants had been told that the data wasn’t supposed to leave the room, but Barone denies wrongdoing. “I did place the poll in the small of my back as I have done with bulky papers for 40 years, so that I could continue to review some areas that I did not clearly understand after returning from a bathroom break,” Barone said in an e-mail to a Democratic staffer. Not surprisingly, some of his party members aren’t buying that and are calling for his removal as Democratic caucus chairman.

You got that right, Pleefer. Course…if it were a Republican that was observed doing that, there are libs here that would scream bloody murder, demanding a full investigation, and going on and on and on about how the Republican party is full of crooks, etc.

But..since it is a Dem..I bet they will be strangely and predictably silent.

All it proves is what Pleefer said…politics as usual. Party doesn’t matter.

He SHOULD be investigated and probably canned.

He was on the take from the Reps
    *ducks*

Really, though I’m not a Dem, you’ll notice Dem people take vote cheating personally. Whereas Reps are personally involved in cheating the vote. It seems most of the Dems use their brains instead of just following in lock-step.

Senator Barone announced on Sunday night to a gathering of Crawford County Democrats that he won’t be seeking re-election.

Personally, I won’t miss the guy. His voting record is atrocious, he has a reputation as a “womanizer” and a history of sexual harassment allegations (see http://www.pitch.com/2007-03-29/news/capitol-bully/). Senate Democratic leadership hasn’t been happy with him for a long time, but since Senators only stand for reelection every four years, there’s been little they can do except remove him from any committee where he can cause trouble.

Bye bye, Barone. Have a nice retirement.

as a democrat I call on his resignation, if not, force him out. We expect this kind of behavior from republicans, not our own.

Yes, investigate quickly, then get on out the door.
At least we hold ours accountable.

I thought it was impossible for democrats to cheat during the election process?

    The party of the righteous?

Stealing elections is reserved for republicans!
This must be a doctored photograph captured and manipulated by a republican con artist.

    Thanks ghotiphaze,

Whew and what a relief. For a moment there I thought maybe, just maybe, there are sneaky politicians on both sides of the aisle.

    Republicans retain their reputation, untarnished!

Anybody who knows anything about Frontenac and Crawford County politics knows why they call that part of the State “little Italy” or “Cicero west” ( after the mob infested suburb of Chicago). Corruption and dirty politics are as natural as breathing down there. Is it any wonder that they are all staunch Democrats?

More left/right paradigm crap? Is it that difficult to understand?

“the left does this stuff”, “no, it’s the right does it” WHAT!?!, once someone gives you a healthy chunk of cash for a favor, you get used to it, and do it frequently, REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL PERSUASION.

The only difference between this one and that other one is HE GOT CAUGHT.

KFG has it correct. Just vote out every incumbent, each and every one of them. You’ll have the people that say, “if we do that, then we’ll have no one who knows what is going on”.

That’s exactly the point and solution.

If you vote every one of the incumbents out, then the lobbyists will run this place more than they already do. KFG, I love ya, but it’s the wrong call. The right thing is to find the worst of the liars, cheats, and thieves, and vote THEM out.

    Pleefer,

Thank you for your support of our Constitution, which makes it clear that petitioning our government for a redress of grievances is a guaranteed rights.

Oh wait, you said to kill everyone exercising that right. Nevermind.

” KFG, I love ya, but it’s the wrong call. The right thing is to find the worst of the liars, cheats, and thieves, and vote THEM out.”

Tom, I love you too. But I think it is exactly the right call.

Sorry to be so cynical, but a handful, like Marti Crow and Sydney Carlin and a few others are good. But the rest ARE liars cheats and theives. And slimey uneducated cheap shot artists more concerned about ideology than doing the right thing for the common good of the state and its people.

I’d gladly trade the two or three good ones to get rid of the 95%er bad apples. I think we’d have a 50-50 chance of ending up with way more good ones and way fewer bad ones. Just the law of averages.

And the lobby folks run the show now. Or maybe I should say the big money folks run the show now. Put caps on campaign spending and term limits, and see if things dont get better.

The real chore is educating the voters and getting them to see the issues facing us clearly, and not through an ideology glass darkly.

If we wanted better government, we’d get it. But we let big business and special interest groups tell us we dont want better government.

    And we believe them.

Scratch a corrupt Democrat and you find a Republican.

Oh I know Frontenac ok. My sister married into an Italian family.

    Not exactly Democrat type folk.
