Mitt Romney’s endorsement of John McCain Thursday is upsetting many of the former’s supporters, including some who wish instead he had bestowed his endorsement and 280 delegates on Mike Huckabee. Romney said of McCain, “This is a man capable of leading our country at a dangerous hour.†That sounds sincere, but it’s likely that Romney also realized he needed to be a team player now to be a potential nominee in 2012, should McCain lose in November.
An endorsement from former President George H.W. Bush, planned for Monday, should further cement McCain’s nomination. It surely will raise expectations that the president should formally endorse McCain, especially given what a good soldier McCain was for the latter Bush during the 2004 campaign.

I wonder how OxyContin Rush is doing today. And Paul?
Time for Rush to do some R&R in the DR…

As for the drug addict:

Limbaugh sees no reconciliation with McCain
First
Family is doing well.
Look up “Hickman” shunt, on your browser. My 5 year old now has one, in her chest. (In addition to Mic Key Button)
She caught the flu, her last two days in the hospital. Got her out of there, primarily to keep her healthy!
Can you imagine getting the flue when you still have stitches from pneumonia surgery?

Ben
Is it fair to call Limbaugh a “drug addict” now?
I believe he had faced his problem and recovered.
(Much like Obama, perhaps?)
Lots of very good people have gotten addicted to prescription drugs. Can you disagree with him, factually, on the issues, without the personal attacks?
——
For the record, I am now backing McCain. Reasons to follow.
“It surely will raise expectations that the president should formally endorse McCain,”
Huh.
I wonder if McCain wants THAT endorsement?
As you correctly point out Rhonda, McCain has been a good little toady stooge for bush. But do you think he wants to brag on it?
Paul – given Rush’s propensity to call people ‘dregs of humanity’ – yes, it is fair by HIS rules.
Glad the g-daughter is well; it is especially frustrating to see children ill. My age – we probably deserve it; but the little ones – NO.
Thanks Ben.

OK, lets look at the issues:
McCain Feingold was horrible legislation.
However, Thompson voted for it and George W. Bush signed it.
The Supreme Court later overturned part of it.
Another section of the law is before the Courts, now.
Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage?
Not necessary. President Bill Clinton already signed the “Defense of Marriage Act”.
That Act will probably stop the Courts from forcing other States to honor “gay marriages’ performed in other states.
If “DOMA” is in doubt, Constitutionally, the Congress can, by simple majority vote, instruct SCOTUS that they have no jurisdiction over the matter.
Also, the President has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Constitutional Amendment process.
Human Life Amendment? Likewise, the President has absolutely no legal authority in the Constitutional Amendment process. Likewise, Congress does have the power, by simple majority, to return this issue to the States, as well.
Man Made Global Warming? McCain claims, now, that China and India must be on board, on any plan.
I think McCain is way off base in thinking government can ever do anything positive about this issue. I think the harm caused, by any legislation, will be far worse than any benefit.
However, by recognizing the economic fact that China and India will benefit, with cheaper coal and cheaper oil, if the USA reduces consumption, McCain is at least acknowledging the fact that US Industry will suffer under most of the proposals that have been made, thus far.
Limbaugh?
Let Limbaugh be Limbaugh. He is keeping McCain from running far left, for the time being.
I admire McCain, in many ways.
His last 5 years in office, however, can not be described as “conservative”.
Oh well.
Reagan campaigned for Ford, after he lost the Primary.
George H.W. Bush worked hard for Reagan.
This is how the game is played.
“(Much like Obama, perhaps?)”
Obama sampled cocaine in his teens – Limbaugh was addicted to “Hillbilly Heroin” as an adult.
How the phuck can you compare the two?
What a lazy cheap shot.
It would have been much more appropriate to compare George W Bush’s drug use to Limbaugh’s than to attempt to paint Barack as an addict.
Moron.
Some time ago I said I found Brownback to be admirable for standing by his principles even if it meant he would be on a losing side. Then he betray them and lost my admiration he never has gotten it back.
Like wise, Mc Cain stood against torture and was a shining example while doing it he was strong and right in the face of overwhelming pressure even from the President of the United States. But recently he came out in favor of torture something that he had endured during his time as a POW and knew all too well its pain and suffering and uselessness. He is setting himself up as Bush II and giving the failed Bush Doctrine a continued push. Something that will bring this country to its knee and end with the United States being a third world country.
Romney Flip Flopped on McCain!!!!
I am shocked, SHOCKED.
What a sideshow the GOP puts on for us lemmings.
