Poetic partings for Giuliani, Edwards

edwardsTwo more presidential primary “bye-kus” from the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto, for Rudy Giuliani and John Edwards, respectively:

From 9/11
Things went downhill on the road
To 11/4

Such a pretty man
Gee, his hair looks terrific
Looks aren’t everything

I sit here running my fingers through my 400 dollar haircut,

There is something about a good conditioner you know.

It’s been a long, hard campaign.

The dog barks at me like a stranger at the door.

I was thinking of Sacramento California for a new residence.

Arnold and I could compare portfolios and weight sets.

I didn’t even get to play my new campaign theme song yet.

“Has anybody seen my old friend what’s his name.”

Giuliani was / is a despot and a waste of time. It’s possible he wouldn’t have been an improvement over the current idiot in the White House.

Edwards should be offered a cabinet position and continue his good work. I think his influence on the campaigns and the remaining candidates was a positive one.

    Hey Linda,

I agree! Edwards should continue his good works!

He could go back to Chapel Hill and continue to help. . .

Or he could continue his campaign to champion the. . .

Wait a minute, just what in the hell are his good works? I forget.

I guess that Edwards has all the qualities important for democrat women voters.

I did a GOOGLE search for “Edwards good works” and this is what came up:

Don’t oount out Giuliani and/or Edwards yet. Either one or both might be called upon as candidates for Vice President. This contest is still a work in progress.

Pre-emptive Taranto-style bye-ku’s for the remainder of the field  :

    McCain:
    The bulging left cheek:
Portent of which way he’d go,
    Given 2000?

    Romney:
    Slick man, like a seal
Darting this way, now that, Right
    Unless Left will work.

    Huckabee
    Cuts deep, what they say
The old angry guard, the rich:
    Reagan wannabe.

    Obama:
    Baby’s love the face
They say. They laugh on sighting.
    They love what we need.

    Clinton:
    Who dares challenge me?
Sniff. Only I can lead you.
    My tears tell you that!!!
