How did Mike Huckabee get such a win margin over John McCain here in Sedgwick County? I will suggest that McCain didn’t have many political signs nor cheerleaders at the caucus. Also perhaps the long line clear to Water Walk might have discouraged some voters but that should have been equal across the attendance.
Huckabee is a strong speaker and seems to be driven to win. I “googled” his biography over the weekend and he does have a strong story to tell.
In both cases, it would be helpful to know who their V.P.’s will be, sooner the better.
I have no clue, JWink…but another thing I don’t understand is why Huck even bothers to continue. I heard on the news this morning it would take Huck more delegates to win than are left. He cannot win.
Yahoo seeks to restart merger talks with AOL: paper Mon Feb 11, 2:45 AM ET
LONDON (Reuters) – Yahoo (YHOO.O) is seeking to restart merger talks with AOL (TWX.N) as a means of defending itself against an unsolicited bid approach from Microsoft (MSFT.O), the Times newspaper said on Monday.
The paper, without citing sources, said Yahoo was also considering tie-ups with groups such as Google (GOOG.O) and Disney (DIS.N).
It said Yahoo and AOL had previously tried to join forces, but were unable to agree on the price of a deal.
None of the parties mentioned could immediately be reached for comment.
* This would be a bad deal for the customers. AOL still acts like they own the net. And has very questionable business practices. Yahoo is not a fair haired boy either. BUT for these two to join up would mean the customers will be dealing with twice the head aches and not better serves.
I did comment when I came home from the Caucus that it did seem there were more Mc Cain signs outside then Mc Cain supporters inside. Both Huckabee and Paul had people walking up and down the line touting their candidate. But the crowd was quiet when the speaker for Mc Cain talked about him, LOL except for the brief “BULL SH%T” once from the back of the room.
MAN, I was going to salt the walks at work only to find out that the cooperate office had deleted ice melt back in Jan! I wonder if it was the same exec whom five years ago decided that this entire region did not need to sale snow shovels? BUT a bigger question is: Just how stupid does the competition need to be when such decisions are made and you are the top retailer in the nation?
Article on the front page of this morning’s Eagle says the Department of Homeland Security is going to issue green cards (permanent residency) to thousands of applicants before the FBI completes required background checks because some have waited SIX MONTHS!
Wonder how long that backlog of American citizens waiting for passports is? Did it finally get under six months? You know, Americans wanting to leave (albeit briefly) but need to plan FAAAAR in advance because Homeland Security passed new regulations for travel to Canada and Mexico and created a backlog.
Oh, and we probably shouldn’t think twice about this because those given the green card before the background checks are completed will eventually be expected to clear the FBIs check. If they don’t, their legal status will be revoked. Imagine that! /sarcasm
Lindainks55: One has always needed some form of Governmental issued ident/documentation to enter Canada from the US. In prior times I’ve always been admitted to the US simply by declairing my nationality. Kinda loose protocol I always thought and it should be tougher than that. Many Canadian folks who live along the Border have passports anyway so it should not hinder tourism, shopping or trade I would think else Buffalo will sorely miss all those par valued loonies being spent by Toronto folks looking for bargains. Besides some kind of uber-drivers permit is being tested with a lot of success so far ‘twixt British Columbia and Washington State, Ontario and New York State
Legally, that makes sense to do Linda.
The reason why is, that if someone lies on their application, the lies alone are enough to send the people back to their country alone. No further action needs to be taken other than deportation.
Tom Lantos is dead.
Blessing to Tom Lantos and his family/friends. Didn’t realize he was a Holocaust survivor. Peace to the Lantos family.
Taz / Regular asks why Huck even stays running.
He probably figures that at McCain’s advanced age, he may keel over dead at any moment . . .
Taz asked that question CapnCoward, not me.
Still chasing those check out girls there Brad?
There is an interesting article on Fox News this morning about Hillary’s new manager Maggie Williams.
She is a controversial choice for Hillary I think. Was she brought in because of her abiding loyalty to Hillary for so many years or is it an attempt at playing the race card?
Delegates are really tight now since the weekend primaries – makes a person wonder.
Maggie was in the middle of the China-gate donor scandal. Johnnie Chung. Scandal is everywhere with these people.
Just saw this, and thought I would share:
“[A] wise and frugal government… shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.” —Thomas Jefferson

LONDON — Paul McCartney and Heather Mills returned to court on Monday in an attempt to agree on terms for their divorce.
The fight over the wealth of the former Beatle, who is estimated to have as much as $1.6 billion, could produce Britain’s largest ever divorce settlement.
Linda,
The wait time for passports is back to normal. Six weeks or so? I think a lot of it was caused by the original announcement of more travelers needing passports for re-entry, but manpower for checking & creating said passports wasn’t stepped up. Got themselves in a pickle, didn’t they? :)
If Heather Mills “earned” $800 Million from McCartney, she must be really good!
Gee, now why didn’t *I* think to marry McCartney? Don’t they have prenups in GB?
The Cold War isn’t over:
Russian Bomber Violates Japan Airspace and Japan Deploys Fighter Jets After Russian Bomber Violates Airspace
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330173,00.html
TOKYO — A Russian air force bomber briefly violated Japanese airspace over an uninhabited island just south of Tokyo on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry said.
The three-minute flyby over Sofugan in the Izu island chain by a Tupolev 95 ended following warnings by Japanese air force fighter jets, said Foreign Ministry official Kotaro Otsuki.
The ministry immediately lodged a protest with the Russian Embassy in Tokyo and demanded an explanation, Otsuki said.
A switchboard operator at the embassy said no one was available to comment Saturday.
Japan’s navy scrambled 22 fighter jets, including F-15s, and two airborne warning and control aircraft known as AWACs, a Defense Ministry official said on condition of anonymity, citing protocol.
The Cold War Isn’t Over:
As late as 1999, Russian Tu-95s, usually flying in pairs, have come within striking distance both of the Iceland/Greenland route of North Atlantic and Alaska/Bering Sea route of North Pacific. In June of 1999, the Tu-95s, along with two Tu-160s, turned back after being intercepted by U.S. fighters. A similar incident occurred in September but the Tu-95s turned back without making contact.
Post-2000 confrontations
Tu-95MS escorted by a USAF F-1529 September 2006 — NORAD scrambled Canadian CF-18s from CFB Cold Lake in Central Alberta and American F-15s out of an airbase in Alaska to intercept “a number of the Russian Tu-95 Bear heavy bombers participating in an annual Russian air force exercise near the coast of Alaska and Canada.” This launch was a result of the bombers penetrating the North American Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).[4]
May 2007 — the Royal Air Force scrambled two Tornado fighters from RAF Leuchars in Scotland to intercept a Tu-95 observing the Royal Navy exercise Neptune Warrior.[5]
July 2007 — two Royal Norwegian Air Force F-16s (from Bodø, Norway) and subsequently two RAF Tornados (from RAF Leeming, England) intercepted two Tu-95s as they allegedly made their way down the Norwegian coast towards Scotland.[6][7]
August 2007 — two Tu-95s flew towards the U.S. base on Guam, where they were intercepted by U.S. fighter planes. Maj Gen Pavel Androsov of the Russian Air Force told a news conference, “We renewed the tradition when our young pilots flew by Guam in two planes. We exchanged smiles with our counterparts who flew up from a U.S. carrier and returned home.”[8][9] However, the Pentagon denied that any aircraft were sent up, saying that the proximity of the bombers was not close enough to prompt a response from the carriers.[10]
17 August 2007 — two RAF Typhoons were launched to intercept and shadow a Tu-95 that had veered towards British airspace over the North Sea. The Tu-95 later turned away from UK airspace.[11]
6 September 2007 — Two Norwegian F-16s tracked eight Tu-95s over the Barents Sea[12] as they neared Norwegian airspace. The bombers flew past Norway and continued towards British airspace where four RAF Tornados were scrambled from RAF Leeming (in two waves of two), before the Russian planes turned away.[13] It was the same day that Canadian Forces’ CF-18s and Russian Tu-95s met outside Canadian airspace near Inuvik, Northwest Territories. The CF-18s were scrambled when Tu-95s were seen flying outside Canadian airspace.[14]
On 22 November 2007, F-22A Raptors of the 90th fighter squadron performed their first intercept of two Russian Tu-95MS ‘Bear-H’ bombers in Alaska. This was the first time that F-22s had been called to support a NORAD mission.[15][16]
09 February 2008, 24 aircraft including F-15 Eagles and an E-767 AWAC from the Japanese air force scrambled and gave “a notice, then a warning and another a notice and a warning,” as a Russian Tu-95MS ‘Bear-H’ violated the country’s airspace during a three-minute flyover of Sofugan in the Izu Islands. Japan formally issued a strong protest, demanded prevention of future incidents and presented a protest note to the Russian Embassy in Tokyo. Russian officials conversely stated that four Tupolev Tu-95 bombers completed a 10-hour mission over the Pacific on Saturday, but “our strategic aviation planes did not violate Japanese airspace.” The flights were carried out “in strict accordance with international rules on flying over neutral waters” and that the United States Navy scrambled F-18 fighters from the USS Nimitz during the incident.[17][18][19]

Is building huge schools on even larger parcels of property the wisest way to spend our money?
Why don’t we have ONE school where English as a second language is taught until each of those students can learn in a regular classroom? Why handicap every classroom with students who can’t learn in English?
Is it time to split USD 259 into smaller parts that can be more easily managed?
Shoot! I’m sorry. I’ll try to pay closer attention and post on proper threads.
Interesting article on illegals. Seems about half enter the country legally, and just stay on after their card expires.
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_07/b4071044385724.htm?campaign_id=yhoo
And now The Department of Homeland Security is going to give them green cards (permanent residency) before the FBI checks are completed because the wait is long. Then, IF they don’t pass the checks they’ll find them — like they find those who stay on after their temporary card expires.
Sounds like EXACTLY what happened with the 9/11 hijackers. The came, they overstayed, and the government couldnt find them.
And look what happened. Now they want to institutionalize it as policy?
Woof.
Yep, kfg, that’s how it sounds to me, at least on the surface. Is the desire for the “cheap labor” that large? Apparently so. Neither political party seems to be without fault on this one, from what I can understand.
Max,
The Russians want us to believe we won the cold war.
It was part of their on-going design for taking over the USA.
The next piece, will be the installation of the socialist president, Hillary clinton.
VT, seems like it isnt just a want for cheap labor, but a need for labor in general. But this new policy isnt really going to help any.
I know this will get me flamed, but WTF else is new? hehehehh.

Where have the immigrants gone?
Oklahoma law targeting illegal workers had some unforeseen results
By Howard Witt | Tribune correspondent
10:08 AM CST, February 10, 2008
TULSA – The splintered trees, downed branches and piles of wood still littering nearly every neighborhood of this sprawling city two months after a devastating ice storm stand as a testament to something more than the ferocity of nature.
The debris is also a sign of the effectiveness ofOklahoma’s new law intended to drive illegal immigrants out of the state — the strictest such statute in the nation.
The branches are still here, many of the law’s critics say, because the undocumented workers who would have cleaned them up are not.
“You really have to work hard at it to destroy our state’s economy, but we found a way,” said state Sen. Harry Coates, the only Republican in the state Legislature to vote against the immigration law. “We ran off the workforce.”
AmWay, I don’t know what the intentions are of the Russsians, but I was surprised that their bomber runs toward the US and our allies continues.
I read something over the weekend, about Soviet cold-war era plans in Europe which have been declassified. Their battle plans in Europe were all OFFENSIVE plans, involving mass land and air attacks to quickly take Europe. The didn’t have any DEFENSIVE plans because they KNEW the West did not have any intentions to attack. They knew we were in a defensive posture.
So the rhetoric Putin has used about the West being a threat today is pure propaganda. If we wanted to take them, we could have years ago, and still could today. They know that.
So is Putin’s sabre rattling purely for political image and gain back home? Or do they have some plans for an offensive to take back territory lost after 1989?
Here’s a couple articles I found.
http://www.robertamsterdam.com/2007/11/russias_thermobaric_weapons_an.htm
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article3230615.ece
Maybe the biggest threat from Russia is their selling of nukes and missiles to 3rd world nations. Look at their Iran relationship for example.
Naw Max, I think Russia is pis-ed we are going to build a missle defensive shield in eastern europe.
I am too.
1. Let the Euro countries defend themselves
2. Let the Euco countries pay for that defense
3. Let the USA stop spending money we don’t have
4. Until the dollar is stronger than a Euro again
Good thing we got rid of that Saddam, who used to torture out a confession, and then have an execution of the basis of that confession.
Wait a minute, that wasn’t just Saddam, but bush too! (U.S. seeking death penalty for some gitmo prisoners)
AmWAy, in addition to Europe, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and the Philliphines need to cough up some money to either defend themselves or pay us for defending them.
If these countries had to devote more of their GDP to national defense, then their economies wouldn’t be leaping adhead of ours so much. And we could spend less on guns, and more on butter.
We still need our own strong National Defense though.
The Russian threat hasn’t gone away, but now I think the greater threat is a terrorist group or 3rd world rogue nation delivering one or two nukes on the US or the Great Satan as they see us. Many foolishly think assured destruction would deter such an attack, but what if we don’t know for sure where the attack came from?
They don’t need an ICBM or SLBM to hit the US. All they have to do is bring it in by ship or through Mexico by truck coming directly through our porous border.
KFG, that’s ridiculous that post about Oklahoma streets. We haven’t passed any laws, and our town still looks the same way, and the town next to ours. And the majority of people who do that work around here are whites. Are they telling me there are no backwoods Okie rednecks that wouldn’t love to make money doing that?
I am anxiously awaiting punishment of those directly responsible for 911. Their execution will be a great day. (Of course the capture of OBL would be even better.)
It should be broadcast as Pay Per View, and the proceeds go to the 911 families.
I would pay and have my beer and popcorn ready.
Torture them again by placing them on gurneys with broken wheels. Wheel em in for their injections, on the broken gurneys. I dislike those almost as the ones at the supermarket carts!
AMWAY–
Which caucus site did you give your impassioned speech for Obama that “left tears in people’s eyes”?
Just answer the question.
2008-2001 = 7 years.
Whoa, no need to rush this just because it’s an election year or anything . . .
Half the russion navy sits on top of the other half at the bottom of the sea, rusting away. Their tanks and vehicles lack for repairs. I believe their rifles are rusty.
But even if not, let them overrun western europe.
Third time, shame on them.
russion=russian
AmWay, you see your “orders” from the Capn?
ROLMAO!!!
Heh . . . he can’t answer the question.
Because it didn’t happen.
(In a voice like Gomer Pyle) “Well, surprise, surprise, surprise.”
Hey, Grobnik.
Go to Iowa.
That’s worse than hell.
Oops, too late . . .
Oh AmWay might have had some impact. Obama beat the witch by nearly 3 to 1.
AMWAY–

Oh right, the cold war is over.
Another piece of evidence AmWay is the liar Regular.
Still got that citation by the Lt. Governor for working on Christmas, AmWay?
Why don’t you scan it and post it on Facebook so we can all see it . . .
Heh.
I have to say, Capn’, I am real curious also as to how AmWay even got to speak at a Democratic caucus, nonetheless given a speech that brought tears to the audience.
Maybe he was slicing onions while he spoke.
Capn I am not going to get into the little games you like to play with other posters. Anyone is welcome to go review my posts and you will learn I am not whom you claim I am.
Please take the time and post an opinion, or respond to someone elses opinion.
I will try to do the same. I don’t enjoy the troll games you seem to relish.

The American Castle Bravo (15 MT)is dwarfed by the Russian Tsar Bomba (50 MT). (Note the little speck in the middle was the relative size of Nagasaki detonation.)
AmWay = liar.
If you can’t post the specifics when you make a claim, then you are a liar covering your lie.
I actually went to the Dem caucus and we only had ONE speaker for Obama. Same everywhere else.
Let the record show, you are liar, and nothing you have posted or will posted deserves to be taken seriously.
Please take the time and post an opinion, or respond to someone elses opinion.
I will try to do the same.
Of course, that’s the way you want to play it NOW. That’s what Regular always says when he gets caught in a lie.
Max,
I am not sure, but I don’t think the liberals really care about Russia, or national defense in general.
I am sure that throwing more billions at Defense is the best plan of attack by republicans either.
I think we should “bring the boys home” from all foreign permanent bases. We stir up more trouble than it’s worth by having them there. WWII ended over sixty years ago. The bases established as a result of it are still widespread.
What does “strong” defense mean anyway?
Let the record show Capn that you are insecure and need attention. I feel sorry for you.
I see the resident Blog disrupter (CapnAmerica) is back to play his games.
BTW Capn, that story about where my Boss received the phone from the Lt. Gov thanking him for the free tire change is true. I would verify it, but Lloyd Fore (APCO Gas Station Owner), my boss has been dead for many years now.
Regular,
All of the posts toward me, are an effort to get me to reveal my personal information. I will not make the same mistakes others have done.
If ANY poster on this blog feels someone is “trolling”, “multi-nicking”, or otherwise disruptive – they can email the editors.
An examination of my post, before or after Regulars can confirm the truth. Although there will never be an apology given. Just attacks.
Max,
Still curious about the “strong defense” question.
Read the below from the weekend KCStar, which I do not necessarily agree/disagree with. But it shows reasonable ideas on cuts which could be made:
“The Pentagon is our next stop. My cancellation list includes the Joint Strike Fighter jet, a Star Wars missile defense and the gold-plated DD(X) destroyer.
On the operational side, the Pentagon could easily save $2 billion a year by requiring military families and retirees to make modest co-payments on their health insurance and Medigap policies. In all, the Pentagon savings is about $20 billion a year in current dollars, in addition to the $120 billion savings once the troops return from Iraq.” KCSTAR
Am/Reg…it is a waste of bandwidth to try to discuss any facts with Capn. He is so blinded by his hatred that he cannot see differences in writing styles, cannot recognize differences in outlook, history or preferences. But..that is Capn..the old “my mind is made up, don’t confuse me with facts”…
Actually, if Taz, American Way and Max email the Editor and tell him that CapnAmerica has been harassing them on the blog, it might have an effect.
Not easy to define “strong defense”, but that expression is all that is needed to get the Democrats to oppose it.
Strong Defense is what it takes to:
1. Secure and Defend America’s borders. Takes a strong Coast Guard, Border Guard, and Port Security, and Intelligence. Also need to enforce existing immigration laws.
2. Project power overseas when needed. (eg. we can’t live without oil yet, and until we become energy independent, we will NEED to go to war over oil.) This requires a strong Navy. Need carriers for Air Power, and top jets on their decks. Need fleet support for the carrier task forces.
3. Maintain open sea lanes. Or maybe we shouldn’t. If we did not defend the sea lanes around the world, world trade would be disrupted. We could not import as much junk from China. This would take a strong Navy, but never mind, forget this one.
4. Maintain an Air, Land, and Sea strategic deterrent. The Don’t F With Us defense. We have some missiles, bombers, submarines, and fighter jets to update. F-15’s have recently been grounded.
5. Missile Defense? Space Defense? Both should be a priority, but we would need to cancel the Moon/Mars project first. Take care of Earth first!
6. Rebuild our troop strength and give the enlisted men a decent pay raise. These guys in combat in Iraq, should earn more money then the deadbeats on welfare sitting back home in the US drinking beer and watching TV. Need 2 Million active duty Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. (Look what happened when Clinton decimated our active duty forces in the 1990’s.)

Naw Regular, that’s what the Lib pussies do all the time. I couldn’t give a rat’s ass what they say.
“email the Editor and tell him that CapnAmerica has been harassing them on the blog”
Jeez, talk about a pot calling a kettle black.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh………………
Go cough up some more phlegm Clarkie, you’re sounding hoarse.
Taz – Huckabee could win if he gets 85.6% of the remaining delegates. Very far fetched, but no impossible.
“Go cough up some more phlegm Clarkie, you’re sounding hoarse.”
Typical McCoward comeback. Accuse others of doing exactly what you are doing……………..
I think that is called projection.
You might want to have a sit-down with your mental health provider, I’ve heard that you can get free help from ComCare, right here in Wichita.
I thought you were never coming back to blog WSClark?
Does that make you a liar? :)
AmWay – I am as curious as Capn about where this speech was given. Where I caucused for Obama, NU, we didn’t even have someone give a speech, unless they did after the vote was taken and before the delegates were chosen. It truly doesn’t seem likely that a self professed Republican would suddenly be invited to give a speech for a Democratic candidate.
“I thought you were never coming back to blog WSClark?”
Jeez, McCoward, the good Capn’ posted up thread your statements about YOU not ever coming back after December 31, 2007.
So what are you doin’ here?
Pot.
Or do you prefer “Kettle?”
Or do you prefer “Kettle?”

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this triumph, but I’ve been a big fan of “Brothers and Sisters” and I have yet to hear anyone hollering about the gay kissing scenes on primetime. Is this NOT exactly what we had hoped would happen? That it would become something that was ‘no big deal”?
I haven’t even heard of any gay teletubby banning!
Yeah, good idea, Regular.
Except for the fact that you are also Taz and AmWay, so that reduces the number of complainers by half.
What show? Another one which will die in the ratings.
Don’t worry, TDT.
You’ll never get your answer. AmWay is another sock-puppet of the puppet-master.
This always happens . . . he strings people along until he says something he can’t back up, and then the facade crashes down.
F***ing liar. Don’t you just hate it?
It makes a mockery of the WEBlog just for his personal jollies . . .
LOL yeah Amway, that’s why its one of the highest ranking shows on tv.
“What show? Another one which will die in the ratings.”
Yeah, like that “Will and Grace” show that died so quickly.
Yeah, like that ONE.
Pmom – I wondered if you watched the first episode of “Eli Stone”. It was about a mother who was suing the drug manufacturer because she believed it caused her son’s autism. Of course it had the fairy tale ending and she won, but I know that is a subject that effects you personally, and thought you might be interested.
“LOL yeah Amway, that’s why its one of the highest ranking shows on tv.”
(teeny tiny font, yeah I know, that’s why my wife was watching it last night. Either that, or just because she knows I don’t like it.)

AmWay, you are making Capn have a meltdown tantrum again.
Keep up the good work.
AmWay, you see the National Defense post?
I thought I should start posting stuff on the future. And do you want a vision of it? Imagine a BOOT stomping on a head for eternity. There is still hope though, yup…kooky Dr. Paul.
Since McCoward is about to go into a meltdown – find a new nic mode, I think it would be quite kind of us to help him in developing that new nic.
Regular hasn’t worked out real well – just a six week run – so we need to really knuckle down and come up with a good one for him.
I am not the best candidate for coming up with a new nic for him, since I am so unimaginative as to use my real name – and waiting for Regular to “out” me – but here are a few of my suggestions.
Chumpion – as befitting his station in life.
Blacker NU – in reference to his kettle status.
Sans Intel – has a nice international ring to it.
Bush Puppy – self-explanatory.
The Outer – in honor of his crusade to “out” those that disagree with him.
Those are my thoughts – how about you?
Max,
I agree with most of what you have posted, except maybe the SDI business. Billions for space defense is a waste IMHO.
But with all of it, the pentegon and politicians can use your listed causes to spend much and overseas.
Billions in aid to foreign governments is given in military credits.
When it comes to belt tightening, all parts of government have to find savings. But don’t use defense as an automatic for increases. Easy to do. Just as easy to call someone proposing decreases as “gutting” defense. Manpower wise, Clinton did gut the military. But again, did we need those men? Maybe today the answer would be yes, with fewer and shorter deployments. Just as an example of – you can’t cut anything.
Ok, I gotta agree, space DEFENSE was a crock. I’m still pro-space research. If you like your computer, digital watch, pocket calculator, advances in medical techniques and materials, metalurgy, etc, etc, ad nauseum, you can thank the space program of the 60s to get everything started.
While I have to agree Clinton “gutted” the military, and while we really had no wars, I’m still curious how his gutted military achieved 13,417 deaths as opposed to Bush’s 9,016 (as of 2006).
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_military_deaths.htm
Still can’t stand Bush, and still respect Clinton, though.
Good idea, WSC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beUQBXI22CA
This is THE answer for those who demand safety!!
geesh, you and your guns, max. Can’t you just get a red corvet like everyone else minimally endowed? What do you want with guns so much?
VT, I found this about the wheat trading limits going up. Seems it happened on Friday.
“The three exchanges met on Friday afternoon and
decided on new limits. The new limit was moved to 60 cents and the rules are if
we lock limit on 2 contracts in the same crop year than the limit can be
expanded by another 50 percent, if we lock limit again, it again expands by 50
percent. It does not appear Chicago or Kansas City will be at the limit, but if
Minneapolis sees the market locked at limit on the March and May contracts the
limit will be 90 cents for tonight into Tuesday. Expect the wild trade to
continue the rest of the session.”
kfg, thanks for the information. Things are/will be getting wilder, methinks.

Big battle between Capitalist and Socialist! Who will win?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330285,00.html
LONDON — Paul McCartney and Heather Mills returned to court on Monday in an attempt to agree on terms for their divorce.
The fight over the wealth of the former Beatle, who is estimated to have as much as $1.6 billion, could produce Britain’s largest ever divorce settlement.
================================
Max, how could McCartney possibly be a Socialist?? According to your usual rantings, ALL people in Socialist countries make the same amount of Income…
Surely not all pop singers in England are worth $1.6 Billion, are they??
Oh Max, shouldnt that grand Socialist Country have re-distributed all of his wealth by now??
I didnt think so either… Since what you label as Socialism is not even close to reality!!

“I thought you were never coming back to blog WSClark?
Does that make you a liar? ”
Wait that from the guy who has come and gone from here at least 4 times in the last year ——- so that makes you a POS fat liar voting ?
The Russian threat hasn’t gone away, but now I think the greater threat is a terrorist group or 3rd world rogue nation delivering one or two nukes on the US or the Great Satan as they see us.
I’ve finally found something Max and I agree on.
Even before the Cold War ended, it was the small, unnoticed countries that scared me. Russia knew well the effects of a nuclear war and steered clear of it as much as we, the U.S., did. Not so with a small rogue country that has nothing much to lose. And one must admit that there are some loonies who wouldn’t give it a second chance…and not all of them leaders of their country.
second chance=second thought
Darned split personality keeps typing the wrong words.
Maybe the biggest threat from Russia is their selling of nukes and missiles to 3rd world nations. Look at their Iran relationship for example
Max are you aware the United States is paying the salary of the Russian scientists working on Iran’s nuclear program? It seems when Russia’s economy was failing, in order to keep their Nuclear scientists from going job hunting in countries that would be a threat to the U.S. The Federal government here started paying their salaries!
I saw Putin today on CSPAN addressing their political body, he said that NATO continues to encroach on Russia’s boarders and that as of now Russia’s military is smaller then some minor countries. he implied that the relationship between the U.S. and Russia is getting worst and blames the Bush Administration for the deterioration of relations that Reagan has started and had improved since. I don’t know how has Bush been treating Russia? I knew that many within his administration were cold war chicken hawks, Rumsfield, Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rice. But how would that have effected our relations with them? Do you think Russia is just “saber rattling”? I know that Putin did imply if we attacked Iran that Russia and several belonging to some Baltic allies would respond.
Still nothing on the Scientology protests? I realize that 25-30 people is a rather small group, but considering this was a world-wide event with a world-wide attendance of somewhere between 4000-8000, and considering I can’t remember the last protest held in Wichita(though I live in hutch so forgive me if I’m wrong) the paper is doing its readers a disservice by not reporting this news.
For heavens sake the la times blog ran a story on this and I would imagine they have more to work with on any given news day(Mondays especially).
What are they protesting??
“Do you think Russia is just “saber rattling”? ”
Russia has a phobia about being attacked again. The Bush administration proposal to install advanced missle defense/radar in the old satellite countries is particularly nasty and worrying to them.
Saber rattling is an old proven response. Still, this is a new Russia with proven oil reserves. They will be a growing adversary or better word rival in competition for world trade. They also can flex their oil muscles around.
The USA, a consumer nation, will need their resources, as eastern europe has already witnessed.
As I told Max, Russia’s military; ground forces and naval are in no shape to threaten the US.
But by shaking our tree, they also serve notice to the old soviet bloc nations, NATO, and the EU.
New poll demonstrates Evangelicals’ political diversity
In the 2008 election, media organizations and pollsters are relying on an outdated script by treating evangelicals as a monolithic voting bloc.
The exit polls (sponsored by the major networks, CNN, Fox, andthe Associated Press) provide the data for nearly all post-election analysis. Yet, thus far, exit polls have only asked Republican primary voters whether they considered themselves “born-again or evangelical Christian.”
A new post-election poll in Missouri and Tennessee (link to polling memo), commissioned by Faith in Public Life and the Center for American Progress Action Fund conducted by Zogby International, demonstrates the diversity of evangelical voters and the need for more thorough polling and careful analysis. Large numbers of white evangelicals participated in the Republican and Democratic primaries; majorities of both Democratic and Republican evangelical voters want a broader agenda that goes beyond abortion and same-sex marriage, and like other voters, white evangelicals ranked jobs and economy as the most important issue area in deciding how to vote.
One in three white evangelical voters in Missouri and Tennessee participated in Democratic primaries. Comparatively, only one in four white evangelical voters in Missouri and Tennessee supported Senator John Kerry in the 2004 general election.
While this year’s exit polls in both states identified all Republican white evangelical voters, the Missouri exit polls failed to identify 160,000 white evangelical Democratic voters, and the Tennessee exit polls failed to identify 182,000 white evangelical Democratic voters. In both states, this group of overlooked white evangelicals represents a figure equal to or greater than all African American voters, all voters over 65, or all voters who said the Iraq war is the most important issue facing the country, according to the state exit polls. (Nineteen percent of all Democratic voters in Missouri and 29 percent of all Democratic voters in Tennessee were white evangelical.)
Majorities of both Democratic and Republican evangelical voters want a broader issue agenda that goes beyond abortion and same-sex marriage to include ending poverty, protecting the environment, and tackling HIV/AIDS – rather than sticking to the more limited agenda of opposing abortion and same-sex marriage. Majorities of white evangelicals in both states support a broader agenda by more than 20 percentage points.
Sixty-two percent of white evangelical voters in Missouri embrace a broader agenda (75 percent of Democratic voters and 56 percent of Republican voters). In Tennessee, 56 percent of white evangelical voters embrace a broader agenda (60 percent of Democratic voters and 54 percent of Republican voters).
In both states, white evangelicals who ranked jobs and economy as the most important issue area in deciding how to vote far outnumbered those who considered abortion and same-sex marriage most important. In Missouri, 30 percent of all white evangelicals ranked jobs and economy the most important issue, while 14 percent considered abortion and same-sex marriage the most important (12 percent chose Iraq, 11 percent health care, 7 percent immigration, 6 percent terrorism, 4 percent taxes and 4 percent education). In Tennessee, 34 percent of all white evangelicals ranked jobs and economy the most important issue, while 19 percent considered abortion and same-sex marriage the most important (8 percent chose Iraq, 8 percent health care, 6 percent education, 6 percent immigration, 5 percent terrorism, 4 percent taxes).
Candidate preference
Senator Hillary Clinton’s support from white evangelicals surpassed that of Senator Barack Obama’s in Missouri 54 percent to 37 percent and in Tennessee 78 percent to 12 percent.
As widely reported in the media because the exit polls in every state have asked Republican primary voters whether they considered themselves evangelical, Governor Mike Huckabee did well among white evangelical voters in Missouri, Tennessee, and other states – though he did not capture a majority of white evangelical voters in either.

Why do I have a feeling Max isnt far away??
Here’s James’s epitaph–
(from Richard III)
My conscience hath a thousand several tongues,
And every tongue brings in a several tale,
And every tale condemns me for a villain.
Perjury, perjury, in the high’st degree;
All several sins, all us’d in each degree,
Throng to the bar, crying all Guilty! guilty!
I shall despair. There is no creature loves me;
And if I die no soul will pity me:
And wherefore should they,—since that I myself
Find in myself no pity to myself?
Actually, Chas.
Max is far away.
Iowa, in fact . . .
Iowa?? I thought Max said he wasnt in Iowa.. Hmmmm….
