Obama putting big hurt on Clinton

obamahandsup.jpgNot only did Barack Obama win his ninth and tenth consecutive state caucus or primary yesterday — winning Wisconsin with 58 percent of the vote and Hawaii with about 75 percent — he also continues to cut into Hillary Clinton’s base. Obama evenly split the white women vote with Clinton in Wisconsin, and he had significant support among blue-collar voters. That doesn’t bode well for Clinton’s chances of winning Texas and Ohio by the landslide margins necessary to overtake Obama’s delegate lead.

Meanwhile, John McCain continued his march toward his inevitable nomination, winning easily in Wisconsin and Washington state.

I hate to say, I told you so, but I guess I’m just going to have to:

“But the Clinton campaign on Wednesday morning sent an e-mail claiming for the first time that a candidate needs to reach 2,208 delegates to seal the nomination. That number would make it seem like Obama is further from victory than he really is.

Clinton’s campaign still is arguing that Florida and Michigan should have their delegates seated (which would increase the delegate threshold) even though the national committee stripped their delegates for holding early contests in violation of party rules. Clinton won those contests, so a reversal of the DNC decision would benefit her.

Plouffe said the latest delegate projection from Clinton ignores reality.

“They keep coming up with alternative theories on how they can win the nomination that have nothing to do with reality,” Plouffe said. “When they don’t like the delegate math, they try to rewrite the rules.” Foxnews

Obama’s campaign manager is David Plouffe.

The democratic election is going to be stolen.

But just as importantly is the “rewriting of the rules” by the Clintons. They will do ANYTHING evil to seal the deal. This sort of person is someone democrats would want in the White House (Bill’s fiasco’s all over again)?

Just as a side note, which I’m sure all the democrats already know, Obama claims that because Florida and Michigan were off the table, he did not campaign hard in those two states. Had the DNC agreed to couunting them before the primary/caucus in those states – he would have led an effective campaign there.

Preaching hope, inspiration, change, with no substance, no specifics, no media challenge, and media fawning, Obama is instructive of how demagogues rise to power to inflict horrors on humanity.

If Hillary Clinton does not get the Democratic nomination, she should stay on the sidelines and allow Obama to crash and burn in November. This would be in the best interests of America.

Barack Obama will rise above the pettiness and cheating and become our next president.

It is the dirty-handed Republicons who have to change the rules when they see themselves losing. “Win at any cost” is the Republicon mantra, and they have demonstrated that they are the experts at it. If the rules don’t work to your advantage, then simply change them before the game is over to tilt the playing field in your direction.

Anyone who has not watched Karl Rove and his slimy playbook win over and over by brazenly cheating, has had their head in the sand for the past 7 years.

No wonder Michelle Obama said that she is finally starting to feel proud to be American after so many years. It’s damn hard to be proud of your country when it is being governed by liars, swindlers, cheaters, crooks and scam artists.

I will swell with PRIDE when Barack Obama places his hand on the Bible and swears to uphold the Constitution. Obama will restore this country to it’s rightful place as MORAL leader of the world, something that has been sorely lacking under the Rove/Bush/Cheney cabal.

Obama withdrew his name from the Michigan ballot.
He did not have to do so, but he did.

Michigan is now in play for the Republicans, and Florida is a LOCK for Republicans.

The Democrat Party, which said, “Let every vote count” in Florida, when Gore LOST, —

IS NOW NOT COUNTING ANY VOTES????

Look, I can’t stand Hillary, she is a crook.

I think Obama is a Marxist, but he seems an honest Marxist, if there is such a thing.

However, this is a Democrat mess that the Democrats made for themselves.

The Democrat Party clearly had the power to “punish” states for breaking the rules and going “too early” — Republicans just went with a “50% penalty” — the Democrats went NUCLEAR and now they have to deal with the consequences.

Hey Florida, are the voters in Iowa more important than your votes?

Hey Michigan, the Democrats “outsourced” your VOTES!

I’ve expressed my own concerns about the Rhorschach Candidate®, but the man does in fact have detailed positions on the issues.

One interesting development: the disagreement between Paul Krugman and Robert Reich on Obama’s health care plan. Krugman doesn’t think it’ll even happen because it doesn’t mandate universal coverage. Reich, however, notes that Obama puts forward more money up front, and actually thinks it’s a better plan than Hillary’s.

I’m not sure what to think at this point. I favor whichever plan makes quality care available for a reasonable price. What we have now, for far too many people, is truly awful care, available for skyrocketing premiums, making it only slightly better than no insurance at all. “Okay, were you infected by a ficus? No? NOT COVERED!

As easy (and fun) as it is to argue about personalities, there are, ya know, issues.

As far Hillary stealing the election, well, that would be an uncommonly stupid move. The scuttlebutt, according to Politico.com, is that there will a tremendous effort to steal the committed delegates (with promises of god-knows-what)–if true, a move which, while apparently quite legal,is particularly disrepectful of what’s left of our democracy.

    Let’s hope it’s just talk.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded:

**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 – became law,

**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, – became law,

**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,

**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, – became law,

**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to several Blog posters.

    He’s not just a talker.

    Straight from the Senate Record.

As I recall, in the years posted, there weren’t a lot of two income families. In fact, it was rare to find a wife who worked full time. Not saying it’s right or wrong for a wife to work, but it wasn’t the “norm” in the 60’s.

Well, RD, your memory must be slipping. Every woman in my family, for instance, worked full time. And ask any farm wife if she worked. The bleeping wonderful 50s weren’t. Girls got knocked up, boys went to jail, women worked – usually as teachers, nurses or waitresses. I grew up in that era and I don’t recall it being so wonderful. Or so bad. Just another time in our life.

“During the first – 8 – eight years of his elected service Obama sponsored over 820 bills.”

    What others say are the facts;
“This misleading blog piece has been proliferated throughout the internet. First of all, it compares apples to oranges. It attempts to understate Clinton’s accomplishments by citing the number of bills she authored and passed into law. And then it attempts to over-inflate Obama’s record by citing the total number of bills he sponsored (BOTH in state and federal congress).

If you look up the information for yourself (http://thomas.loc.gov/bss/110search.html) you can compare apples to apples:
    - In the 109th Congress Obama sponsored 152 bills (26 were signed into law) and co-sponsored 427 (12 were signed into law). Clinton sponsored 177 (21 were signed into law) and co-sponsored 720 (19 were signed into law).
    - In the 110th Congress Obama sponsored 113 (0 signed into law) and co-sponsored 375 (3 signed into law). Clinton sponsored 150 (0 signed into law) and co-sponsored 477 (4 signed into law).
    - Grand Total Authored – Clinton 327 sponsored / 1197 co-sponsored vs. Obama 265 sponsored / 802 co-sponsored
    - Grand Total Passed – Clinton 44 vs. Obama 41

THE FACT – During the time that Obama and Clinton were in Senate together, Clinton authored 23% more bills and co-sponsored 49% more bills. Clinton helped to pass 7% more bills than Obama. In addition, Clinton sponsored 299 bills and co-sponsored 1183 from 2001-2004 while Obama was not involved in national politics.”

I wonder what will be dragged up in Obama’s past. I’d think it would have something to do with his time in Chicago — I believe he was tied to Jesse Jackson and his son the Congrerssman — JJ’s record in a variety of areas is not squeaky clean. Lots of ways to get into political trouble in Chicago — could be his albatross

Totally disagree. Totally and completely, in fact. Verbally, McCain is no match for Obama. Obama will have McCain foaming at the mouth and ranting in minutes. And when McCain’s intemperance gets the better of him, as it often does, he’s just a nasty old man.

John McCain: he’s only ten in dog years!

  89. Posted February 20, 2008 at 8:56 pm | Permalink

All Barack (or Hillary) would have to do is ask McCain directly what are the differences between McCain and Bush II and why would Americans want Bush III.

Then stand back and watch McCain’s head explode.

McCain couldn’t debate his way out of a parking ticket with a hundred dollar bill in his hand.

Well, RD, your memory must be slipping.

No, Dennis, not at all. I wasn’t confining my memory to my own experience. My mother worked also. And you’re right about the careers women who did work were locked into. Farm wives are a completely different story, and if you think I don’t have experience in that, you’re sadly mistaken.

There were career women, and some women chose to work, for a variety of reasons. But most women who could chose to stay out of the workforce and raise their families. It’s possible your view is different from mine because you’re not female. The change occured in the 70’s. I’m sure you remember the “You’ve come a long way, baby”, ads. Or maybe not. Things have changed. The pendulum has swung from people assuming women stayed home to people assuming a woman didn’t. “What? You’re a housewife?” We seem to be swinging more to the middle now. And that much is my opinion from my own experience.

IMHO — Just an opinion — The Republicans seem to now be running on fear, that just maybe Hillary wont be the Democratic Candidate… They have all figured they could BEAT Hillary, and that they would run against her, by running against Bill… but NOW….

Obama is beating the socks off of Hillary!! ALL OVER the place… NOW the Republicans look at McCain, and they look at Obama, and they cant stand what they see!!

Obama can out talk, and out think McCain any day of the week!! Obama has a Senate record to run on against McCain… McCain is hooked on the disastrous Iraq War…

NOW the Republicans are terribly afraid that they wont be able to beat Obama!! And after all the energy, and effort, and lying they have done against Hillary… and apparently all for nothing!!

Be very afraid Republicans!! You got a most formidable candidate to run against!!

But, good luck trying!! Should make an interesting year!!
