In a wacky primary season, this may be the wackiest (and unlikeliest) scenario yet: that Democratic convention delegates, deadlocked between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, would nominate Al Gore on the second ballot. “Surely he would happily take Obama as his running mate, ending the Clinton dynasty and positioning the Democrats for a potential 16-year reign at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.,†wrote Eleanor Clift at Newsweek.com. “A Gore-Obama ticket would be unstoppable, the thinking goes, matching the presumptive Republican nominee, McCain, on national security and experience, while embodying a powerful message of change.†Plus, she notes, a two-month campaign by Gore would not be “long enough for voters to remember what they didn’t like about him eight years ago.â€
Also of interest: During the Web extra to Sunday’s “Meet the Press,†pundit Mark Shields suggested that Gore would be the best running mate for Obama.

Won’t happen.
Algore is brain dead, cold and clammy, way past the point of resuscitation. Leave him to hallucinate in the CO2.
Secretary of the Interior.
It would be sort of funny against a McCain-Lieberman ticket.
;)
It would be fun to see Gore lose his own state again.
Oh how sweet it would be.
Gore is the ONLY candidate I was ever really happy voting for.
Climate Change
Not every scientist is part of Al Gore’s mythical “consensus.” Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun.
Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles.
To many, those data were convincing. Now, Canadian scientists are seeking additional funding for more and better “eyes” with which to observe our sun, which has a bigger impact on Earth’s climate than all the tailpipes and smokestacks on our planet combined.
And they’re worried about global cooling, not warming.
Kenneth Tapping, a solar researcher and project director for Canada’s National Research Council, is among those looking at the sun for evidence of an increase in sunspot activity.
Solar activity fluctuates in an 11-year cycle. But so far in this cycle, the sun has been disturbingly quiet. The lack of increased activity could signal the beginning of what is known as a Maunder Minimum, an event which occurs every couple of centuries and can last as long as a century.
Such an event occurred in the 17th century. The observation of sunspots showed extraordinarily low levels of magnetism on the sun, with little or no 11-year cycle.
This solar hibernation corresponded with a period of bitter cold that began around 1650 and lasted, with intermittent spikes of warming, until 1715. Frigid winters and cold summers during that period led to massive crop failures, famine and death in Northern Europe.
Tapping reports no change in the sun’s magnetic field so far this cycle and warns that if the sun remains quiet for another year or two, it may indicate a repeat of that period of drastic cooling of the Earth, bringing massive snowfall and severe weather to the Northern Hemisphere.
Tapping oversees the operation of a 60-year-old radio telescope that he calls a “stethoscope for the sun.” But he and his colleagues need better equipment.
In Canada, where radio-telescopic monitoring of the sun has been conducted since the end of World War II, a new instrument, the next-generation solar flux monitor, could measure the sun’s emissions more rapidly and accurately.
As we have noted many times, perhaps the biggest impact on the Earth’s climate over time has been the sun.
For instance, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Solar Research in Germany report the sun has been burning more brightly over the last 60 years, accounting for the 1 degree Celsius increase in Earth’s temperature over the last 100 years.
R. Timothy Patterson, professor of geology and director of the Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Center of Canada’s Carleton University, says that “CO2 variations show little correlation with our planet’s climate on long, medium and even short time scales.”
Rather, he says, “I and the first-class scientists I work with are consistently finding excellent correlations between the regular fluctuations of the sun and earthly climate. This is not surprising. The sun and the stars are the ultimate source of energy on this planet.”
Patterson, sharing Tapping’s concern, says: “Solar scientists predict that, by 2020, the sun will be starting into its weakest Schwabe cycle of the past two centuries, likely leading to unusually cool conditions on Earth.”
“Solar activity has overpowered any effect that CO2 has had before, and it most likely will again,” Patterson says. “If we were to have even a medium-sized solar minimum, we could be looking at a lot more bad effects than ‘global warming’ would have had.”
In 2005, Russian astronomer Khabibullo Abdusamatov made some waves — and not a few enemies in the global warming “community” — by predicting that the sun would reach a peak of activity about three years from now, to be accompanied by “dramatic changes” in temperatures.
A Hoover Institution Study a few years back examined historical data and came to a similar conclusion.
“The effects of solar activity and volcanoes are impossible to miss. Temperatures fluctuated exactly as expected, and the pattern was so clear that, statistically, the odds of the correlation existing by chance were one in 100,” according to Hoover fellow Bruce Berkowitz.
The study says that “try as we might, we simply could not find any relationship between industrial activity, energy consumption and changes in global temperatures.”
The study concludes that if you shut down all the world’s power plants and factories, “there would not be much effect on temperatures.”
But if the sun shuts down, we’ve got a problem. It is the sun, not the Earth, that’s hanging in the balance.
I would rather see Obama/Edwards than Obama/Gore. I would rather NOT see Clinton in any capacity.
TRACY… re your 2:19 pm copy/paste of the op-ed at Investor’s Business Daily.
Are you really that gullible?
An op-ed at IBD is not a reliable science source.
Dr. Tapping is not an AGW skeptic.
‘Scientist Busts Biz Sheet for Misrepresenting His Work’
http://www.desmogblog.com/scientist-bust-biz-sheet-for-misrepresenting-his-work
“National Research Council of Canada scientist Dr. Kenneth Tapping has offered whithering criticism of Investor’s Business Daily for reporting that Tapping is among those who deny that greenhouse gases are the principal cause of current global warming.”
Part of Dr. Tapping’s response,
http://www.leanleft.com/archives/2008/02/09/6488/
“It is the opinion of scientists, including me, that global warming is a major issue, and that it might be too late to do anything about it already.
If there is a cooling due to the solar activity cycle laying off for a bit, then the a period of solar cooling could be a much-needed respite giving us more time to attack the problem of greenhouse gases, with the caveat that if we do not, things will be far worse when things turn on again after a few decades. However, once again it is early days and we cannot at the moment conclude there is another minimum started.“
Cosmos,
And as usual, we have that great line:
“…and that it might be too late to do anything about it already.”
I always laugh when you AGW types starting talking about the doom and gloom of it being too late.
So what are your recommendations for action to stop this great threat???
The failed and unrealistic Kyoto treaty, changing our light bulbs, and over the next 20-50 years implementing different resources other than fossil fuels.
Well my goodness! If it is going to be too late if we don’t act now, your solutions sure don’t meet the rhetoric spewed.
Like I said, you can argue about the science all you want to cosmos. When we start looking at the solutions we see what a fraud it all is.
“Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles.”
Actually it is orbital cycles and is called Milankovitch. The current anthropologicall carbon issue is superimposed upon that and exceeds the envelope of the past several million years of cycles.
Da Goracle…
(chortles)
Nathan,
You seem to believe that a scientific theory can be valid only if there are “solutions”.
That’s not logical.
I would please like to have whatever it is that Elanor Clift is smoking.
Cosmos,
Are you saying there are no solutions then?
So why should I care about Global warming at all then?

“… researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Solar Research in Germany report the sun has been burning more brightly over the last 60 years, accounting for the 1 degree Celsius increase in Earth’s temperature over the last 100 years.”
The IBD op-ed left out what the Max Planck Society also said,
http://www.mpg.de/english/illustrationsDocumentation/documentation/pressReleases/2004/pressRelease20040802
“However, researchers at the MPS have shown that the Sun can be responsible for, at most, only a small part of the warming over the last 20-30 years.”
AGW deniers have to omit the inconvenient facts.
Nathan,
You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. I did not say that there were no solutions to AGW.
Cosmos where do you hide when you aren’t shooting down a post on GW. You never come around to see us unless the word ‘GW’ shows up and then as if by magic – Cosmos appears. Does a bell ring to alert you? Do you have a team of people watching blogs to alert you?
Just curious.
I thought this thread was about the slight possibility of Gore being the presidential nominee in 2008. Instead, we have yet another among thousands of debates on global warming and who’s right and who isn’t.
Is that all you have, Republicans?
On one side, we have cosmos, who never read a report for GW he didn’t like; on the other, we have Nathan, who never read a denial of GW he didn’t like.
In the middle, we have those who can actually read both sides, think on it, and come up with something that can actually be discussed. Maybe we can have a daily thread, limited to both extremes on global warming. Then those who actually understand climate change (if it exists), what the consequences of it are, and what we need to do, if anything at all, can intelligently discuss it. Because it sure ain’t happening here.
We Blog stealing from me without attribution? Shame on y’all.
Cosmos,
You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. I did not say that a scientific theory can be valid only if there are “solutions”.
(Ahem. In my best youtube voice)
Leave Al Gore alone! You bastids! You dont DESERVE to have Brit, er, Al Gore as President!
Leave Al Gore ALONE!
McCain will lsoe becasue Obama will pick a white air force general for VP at the convention and after the convention will ask Governor Bill Richardson to campaign with him as his future Secretary of State.
Hillary will go back to the Senate & take over Ted Kennedy’s liberal legacy. Too bad the GOP can’t cultivate any Hispanic contenders. It’s still a corporate white man’s party
Obama will try to govern like a moderate and will ber perceived as being weal (ala Jimmy Cater), but will be replaced by Huckabee in 2012 due to voter dissatisfaction about the economy (ala Ronald Reagan).
“I would please like to have whatever it is that Elanor Clift is smoking.”
Watch it, Davis, if you admit to smoking something you’re not supposed have, Detective AmWay will have you arrested.
I am supposed to be waiting for the blue flashing lights – haven’t shown up yet.
WS Clark,
Did you give away your stash to your Grand Children or just finish it off yourself?
Just wondering what values you instill in those Grand Kids of yours? Teach them about all the wonderful things about marijuana, how it should be legal, and that it is ok to smoke it?
“Did you give away your stash to your Grand Children or just finish it off yourself?”
One, I don’t have a stash, I haven’t even smoked in well over a year.
Two, my grandchildren are none of you god damned business.
“Nathan” –
Just exactly made you the judge of all people?
You’re apparently the only one qualified to determine what “Christian” is.
You have determined someone killing your dog deserve your personally-administered capital punishment.
How anyone else teaches his or her grandchildren about drug policy is now, all of a sudden, subject to your assessment?
WS Clark,
You have no problem sharing your views on illegal drug use here, so why would you be ashamed to admit to what you teach your Grand Kids?
Just wondering if you are as open with them about your illegal activities.
J M Walker posted February 18, 2008 at 5:06 pm
“In the middle, we have those who can actually read both sides, think on it, and come up with something that can actually be discussed.”
On one “side” is all of the credible, peer-reviewed science. On the other “side” are unsupported opinions and deceptions, like the inaccurate op-ed TRACY posted at 2:19 pm.
There is no rational, intelligent “middle” between those two “sides”.
MonkyHawk,
No one made me the judge of all people. I don’t even think I am a judge of anyone.
However, when people make statements which I disagree with, I will say so.
This is a public blog is it not? We come here to debate current events and other issues do we not?
So, if you are going to make statements why wouldn’t you be prepared for others to disagree?
Yet Chas and WS Clark both love to attack me and my faith, yet when I ask the simplist of questions about theirs all of a sudden I am the judgemental one.
“You have no problem sharing your views on illegal drug use here, so why would you be ashamed to admit to what you teach your Grand Kids?”
Jeez, let’s see, Price, my oldest grandchild is just seven and that would make her a MINOR.
Dumbass.
And where did you get the idea that I was ASHAMED of what I teach my grandkids?
I teach them things like the importance of education, fair play, tolerance of others, that all men and women are created equal, that (she) can do and become anything she wants to be, that the environment needs our protection, to stay away from judgmental, holier than thou Marines that act like they have the maturity level of a sixth grader.
That is what I teach them – see anything that I should be ashamed of?
Nathan posted February 18, 2008 at 5:23 pm

“Like I said, you can argue about the science all you want to cosmos. When we start looking at the solutions we see what a fraud it all is.”
Science, and policy are separate issues.
WS Clark,
So you teach your Grandchildren that smoking marijuana is ok, once they are no longer minors then?
I see that you still don’t see the irony in your being so judgemental about my faith while saying I am the one being judgemental…
“So you teach your Grandchildren that smoking marijuana is ok, once they are no longer minors then?”
Since you do not ACT like an adult, Price, you probably do not understand this concept, but adults make their own decisions.
“I see that you still don’t see the irony in your being so judgemental about my faith while saying I am the one being judgemental…”
The only time that I am judgmental (notice the correct spelling) about your faith is when you use it to disavow overwhelming scientific evidence and when you use it to damn a segment of the population (gays) that has done absolutely nothing to deserve your scorn.
End of conversation.
I have nothing to hide. I will be open and honest about exactly what I believe and explain it to the best of my ability and answer questions to the best of my ability.
Why are both Chas and WS Clark so ashamed or scared to do the same about thiers?
Christ called us to share our faith not hide it. Christ life was spent teaching his Disciples to go and share their faith and to teach people about Christ.
Why then would WS Clark and Chas be so unwilling to even talk about Christ here and their faith in Him if they are Christians?
WS Clark,
Once again, you still say things about me which are not true.
No where have I damned any segment of the population.
Since you want to talk about science and judge me for what I believe about God and creation, just exactly what do you believe about God’s interaction with nature and creation?
I am curious then, do you even believe in miracles?
There is nothing in science which affirms God or your faith in Him, so why do you believe in God?
Why is it ok to make fun of me for believing that God created the world as told in Genesis yet you have no problem saying you also believe in a supernatural being which conflicts with science as well?
“Why are both Chas and WS Clark so ashamed or scared to do the same about thiers?”
Neither ashamed nor scared…………….
“Why is it ok to make fun of me for believing that God created the world as told in Genesis yet you have no problem saying you also believe in a supernatural being which conflicts with science as well?”
The scientific evidence is clear that the stories (there are two) in Genesis are not to be taken literally. To hold to the Biblical tale only is to ignore mountains of scientific evidence to the contrary.
Science, however, can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God and makes no attempt to do so.
By the way, Nathan, should you ever bring children into the world (unlikely) are you going to teach them that you can be ABOVE the law when it comes to carrying a weapon into an establishment that bans the same?
Gore should be whacked
Nathan what in the wide world of sports does marijuana have to do with this thread?
WS Clark,
I know you have a problem reading and getting things correct on what I actually believe…
I do not think it is ok to go into an establishment which is posted against concealed carry nor do I.
So, no, I would not teach anyone to do that.
By the way, for someone who claims to be such an avid reader of the Bible, there is only one creation story in Genesis. It is mentioned twice in a different context.
For someone who claims to know so much and be a Christian you sure do love to use all the arguments those who attack the Bible do.
So what part of the Bible do you read at your Church and actually believe WS Clark?
JR,
It has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.
When did you actually start caring about that?
“Nathan” –
“No one made me the judge of all people. I don’t even think I am a judge of anyone.”
Which is the set-up for an “however,” I bet.
“However” (told ya!) “when people make statements which I disagree with, I will say so.”
And, in doing so, you set yourself up as some sort of superior judge of others’ opinions.
Yet, when you’re confronted on the issues and the rationales and logic of arguments, you tend to whine about your religious beliefs somehow being attacked.
How very un-Marine of you to constantly retreat to the most comfortable defense you can find. People show you how your political and moral convictions are lacking, so you hide behind your triumverant of religions: evangelical fundamentalism, guns, and the Marines.
Yeah, those are a bunch of free independent thinkers alright.
“I do not think it is ok to go into an establishment which is posted against concealed carry nor do I.”
That is not what you said – you stated clearly that your concerns (paraphrase) over your ability to protect yourself put your concern OVER the law.
Look it up. Hell, you even DEFENDED that statement.
As for this………………
“So what part of the Bible do you read at your Church and actually believe WS Clark?”
As I stated without equivocation last night, it is none of your god damned business.
Well Nathan
As it is YOU who is always whining about who brings what to threads, I just wondered how you square that with coming here to cause a distraction based on some argument somewhere else some other time.
“No where have I damned any segment of the population.”
Then do you believe in equal rights for everyone?
If so, how can you be against gay marriage?
If you are against gay marriage then you CANNOT be for equal rights for everyone.
WS Clark,
You truly are on a roll for not getting anything correct on what I believe.
In my opinion, as stated many times before, marriage is not a right.
Homosexuality is a choice, a choice which is not afforded special privledge by the law as sex and skin color.
None of those have anything to do with damning an entire segment of the population.
And Nathan continues to demonstrate his lack of scientific knowledge.
WS Clark,
My saying that sometimes I feel my safety is above the law, has nothing to do with concealed carry signs or advocating not obeying them.
I have said that several times now.
Try to comprehend it this time.
JR,
Did you get yourself any health insurance yet?
President Obama, Clinton or Gore will see to that Nathan!
“Try to comprehend it this time.”
So I should just ignore your OVER the law post from several days ago?
How many other posts should I ignore because they weren’t what you ACTUALLY meant?
WS Clark,
Did you used to get high with your kids too? Do they advocate illegal drug use as well or just you?
Do they know you did drugs illegally?
If you only stopped having a stash a year ago, you must have still had one while you had your Grandkids over, no?
Did their parents know about this?
“Homosexuality is a choice, a choice which is not afforded special privledge by the law as sex and skin color.”
Homosexuality is NOT a choice, but even if it were, what does that have to do with the right to marry the consenting adult of your choice?
There is no “special privilege” involved.
Can two unmarried consenting adults of the opposite gender and not related by blood get married in any state in the United States?
Is there any test or qualifiers other than those noted to prevent them from getting married?
Is there ANYTHING that can cause these two people to be denied the right to marriage?
The answers are yes, no and no.
So why should there be laws and constitutional amendments prevent two people of the same sex from getting married?
“Do they know you did drugs illegally?”
My children and grandchildren are none of your business, Price, but I can assure you that none of them would want to have the least to do with someone like you.
That would be all three of my children and both my grandchildren.
YOU are just about everything I have taught my children to avoid.
WS Clark,
So… would that be a yes to having illegal drugs stashed at your home with your Grandchildren there?
That was me…
“So… would that be a yes to having illegal drugs stashed at your home with your Grandchildren there?”
Let’s see – where did I say that I had a stash at home?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……………………
Nope, I don’t remember saying that.
I do remember saying that I smoked, but the last time was well over a year ago. I don’t remember saying where I smoked or with whom.
Yep, that’s right, never said it so the question is moot.
Next?
Perhaps there was a sharing experience on a Navajo reservation with some peyote and cannabis calling out some rain gods…
“Nathan” declares –
“…sometimes I feel my safety is above the law…”
Well, now. That’s an interesting perspective.
Are we a nation of laws, not men, “Nathan?”
But the moment you perceive your safety is endangered (or your dogs), laws mean nothing to you, “Nathan?”
For all you try to promote your faux-Marine courage, you reveal you abject cowardice. You can’t even leave your porch without packing a concealed weapon. If anybody expresses any view of Christian theology different from yours, you immediately attack their faith. You’re so isolated by your fears of “other-ness” the mere thought of two people of the same gender entering into a societally-accepted contractural arrangement for life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness compels you to impose your religious bigotry into the Constitution of the United States of America.
Which is not an attempt on my part to denigrate your right to express or live your (albeit, distorted) perspective on life.
I’m only here to tell you, “Nathan,” you’re so far out on the fringe of mainstream thinking, you don’t even realize you’re not swimming. You’re stuck in the mud on the far-right shores, you don’t even realize it.
Nope. Your safety is not more important than law.
In “a nation of laws, not men,” even unjust laws must be overcome within the law (or, as in the course of the mid 19th Century, all-out Civil War).
Martin Luther King practiced civil disobedience, and got arrested under the law gobs of times before he got the law changed. He never, ever, proclaimed *his* “safety was above the law.”
Ah, but *you,* “Nathan,” feel perfectly entitiled to declare *your* safety is “above the law.”
That’s about the most un-American thing I’ve ever seen anyone say.
Actually, in some cases, personal safety is above the law and justified as defined by the law.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – in that order – one can’t happen without the other occurring first.
“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
Ah, that is the Declaration of Independence, not the law.
Sorry, McCreepy, you are wrong again.
“Regular,” the WE Blog’s answer to Oliver Wendell Holmes, comes forth with –
“…personal safety is above the law and justified as defined by the law.”
I’m sure you can prove that particularly argument, “Regular.”
Good luck with this one. ;-)
Where did I say “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness was in the law Heebie?
The Declaration of Independence is certainly one of the single greatest documents ever crafted by mankind, but the fact remains that it does not carry the weight of law.
The “Law” in the United States was establish by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1787.
Sure Monkey Hock,
If your life is being directly threaten by any means, one has under the law to defend or otherwise prevent the actions, person or thing threatening their life.
Gun, knife or weapon being pointed at you…
Someone stating they are going to set your house on fire and have a lit match and can of gasoline in their hand pouring the gas on your house and your children or loved ones are inside…
etc. etc.
“personal safety is above the law and justified as defined by the law……. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – in that order – one can’t happen without the other occurring first.”
Is this another one of your “Definitions According to McCluer?”
Just ‘fess up – you made a common mistake and you stuck your foot into it.
“Gun, knife or weapon being pointed at you…”
Carrying a concealed weapon where it is prohibited.
Whoops, not that one…………………
WS you have missed the main point of course. Every man and woman in the US has the same right – the right to marry the person of their choice that is of the opposite sex. No difference or preferential treatment for one or the other.
When we open up the definitation of marriage then where do we draw the line?
Go argue with the worms Heebie, that’s where you are heading anyway.
“When we open up the definitation of marriage then where do we draw the line?”
Easy……………………………
To quote myself with a slight modification”
“Can two unmarried consenting adults not related by blood get married in any state in the United States?”
The answer should be yes.
Why should 4% of the population be denied the right to marriage?
“I’m only here to tell you, “Nathan,” you’re so far out on the fringe of mainstream thinking, you don’t even realize you’re not swimming. You’re stuck in the mud on the far-right shores, you don’t even realize it.”
He does MH. He realizes it I mean.
He and the other cons also are very aware of what is about to happen this November.
That is part of why he and the other con posters will grow increasingly….whatever.
Some will grow increasingly shrill, defensive and argumentative. Others will twist the disaster that looms into some sort of weird hope for what will come later. And still some others will just try to tell themselves (and anyone who will listen) that everything for the GOP will be ok.
“Go argue with the worms Heebie, that’s where you are heading anyway.”
Jeez, that sounds like a threat, McCreepy.
Damn, this is too easy –
“Regular” responded with
“If your life is being directly threaten by any means, one has under the law to defend or otherwise prevent the actions, person or thing threatening their life.
Really!? I’m stunned to hear that.
Well, not really. Because (quoting you here) “…one has under the law….”
But “Nathan” told us: :…my safety is above the law…”
So tell me, “Regular.” Do you understand the difference between “under” the law and “above” the law?
Gun, knife or weapon being pointed at you…

For example Regular, the 2nd Amendment.
As those in Washington DC are soon to find out, the DC gun laws effectively banning guns in your own home, will be found to be unconstitutional.
If Kansas were to ban say, free speech, then if you exercised your free speech, would you be in violation of the law?
Or is the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the US the law of the land?

Failure to enact solutions does not refute the science.
Actually, the slowness in implementing effective AGW solutions shows the strength of the fossil-fuel and right-wing groups at spreading confusion and doubt.
Some examples here,
http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science/skeptic-organizations.html
And the inaccurate op-ed copy/pasted by TRACY at 2:19 pm upthread.
Plus the media has usually given the deniers the same amount of coverage as the AGW scientists, even though the deniers are a very much smaller group.
Actually, MH, “Heebie” is the best he has come up with and he actually has TWO explanations for it.
Both explanations are bullshit, but he did manage to crap out two of them.
MonkeyHock – that is so juvenile that even Nathan couldn’t go there – that is positively FOURTH grade level.
wonk wonk wonk…
“wonk wonk wonk…”
And that is the absolute best that McCreepy can come up with.
JimmyMac,
Have you finished your scientific[sic] paper that supports E. G. Beck’s (bogus) CO2 theory?
‘Hissink, CO2 and conspiracy theories’
http://timlambert.org/2005/01/hissink3
cosmos have you finished your paper on why computer climate models are inaccurate because they don’t know all the climate information?
Or perhaps you are still stuck on drawing non-scientific conclusion with incomplete and inaccurate information. :D

“Actually, the slowness in implementing effective AGW solutions shows the strength of the fossil-fuel and right-wing groups at spreading confusion and doubt.”
Or the impotently weak argument being put forth by the AGW zealots. Followed by a lack any credible solutions other that calling for someone else to do something.
Well this is way off topic.
But since Nathan and “Regular” already took the thread off topic…
I understand “Regular” was calling a meetup.
I was wondering how that was working out.
He called a meet up to buy cheap steaks at Denny’s —- no one showed up tells ya the following he has and the depth of his generosity — he is a peasant —-
Nathan writes, I have nothing to hide. I will be open and honest about exactly what I believe and explain it to the best of my ability and answer questions to the best of my ability.
Really, Nathan?
So, tell us, how often and with whom and in what positions do you have sex?
And would you tell a seven year old?
My point (for the reich-wingers who never seem to be able to get the point) is that not every piece of information about one’s life is appropriate to share with a child.
President-in-Exile Al Gore deserves another shot at it.
Especially since he WON last time he ran . . .
“It’s the best you deserve…”
Wow! Holy shit, what a WITTY comeback! Woo, boy, that was a zinger! Hot damn! What a quick wit! You must have an IQ of at least 160 if not more! Whoa, boy, what a snappy, I tell you, snappy comeback!
Dang, I wish I was that quick…………………..
Yeah, right.
Hey WS,
Since you don’t seem to be playing over on the other thread where you left the ‘85% of the power going out of state’ statement I am pulling my post from there to here.
What do you think of the state of KS putting a severance tax on any power sold outside KS? Might turn those Holcomb plants into money generators for the all the citizens of the state. I don’t completely buy into the CO2 deal, not that I don’t believe it, but I’m sure not going to get my bowels in an uproar over that yet. Groundwater, that’s another story though. That water may someday be as valuable as gold or oil in a manner of speaking. A severance tax would be saying ‘okay, build your plants, generate needed power, but any that doesn’t stay in the state, benefiting the state gets taxed, for your plants are profiting utilizing resources of the states. I am not a big tax proponent at all, especially when it applies to me especially (humor), but I am for taxing things that leave the state.
JimmyMac,
The climate models are accurate re the increased radiative forcing caused by human-added GHG’s.
And it’s not possible to model future unknowns, such as Arctic sea ice melting earlier than projected, unknown amounts of GHG’s released at unknown rates from thawing permafrost, slowing of carbon sinks, etc.
Now… where is your paper showing that global CO2 was above 400 PPM in the 1940’s?
Agreed wholeheartedly on Gore Capn.
That is the beauty of a brokered convention. It is the Dems election to win. Let’s choose our best.
But this?
“Really, Nathan?
So, tell us, how often and with whom and in what positions do you have sex?”
Laughing…
Geez I don’t wanna know this!
Aw, Capn’, Price is just trying to get me to say that I had a stash in my house when my grandkids were over so that he could accuse me of child endangerment and threaten me with arrest like Detective AmWay.
It is easy for me to say that I didn’t have a stash in my house when the grandkids were over because I NEVER had a stash in my house.
The only time there was marijuana IN my home was when my friends, girlfriends and I were actually smoking it – then it was gone – and of course my grandkids were never there.
No stash – no possession – no charges.
IF Obama bets the nod, the people will want Hillary to be his running mate. Stop acting as if Hillary is dead weight. She’s only SLIGHTLY behind now.
She was the frontrunner for quite awhile. She has a record of coming back.
“Geez I don’t wanna know this!”
Dang, J R, it’s not an encyclopedia, or War and Peace, it’s more like a short story…….
Or a Reader’s Digest article.
You know, not much to it.
“She was the frontrunner for quite awhile. She has a record of coming back.”
Yeah, like Freddy Krueger….she just won’t die.
Correct, WSC.
I can smell a narc from a thousand paces.
The American Taliban like Nathan want to ram their morality down everybody else’s throat.
Everything pleasurable is bad, bad, bad.
It’s no coincidence that the repression of pleasure is a common element in the worship of the gun, especially the handgun.
Freud called it transferance.

Many people seem to prefer falsehoods, like TRACY posted upthread at 2:19 pm.
When people prefer falsehoods, then the facts, and science have no chance.
I’m dying over here..!
It would not be anymore fair for me to speculate on Nathan’s sex life than it is for him to judge others. And let the record show I did not start this.
I need to write to you Capn.
It’s not fair to tell it here.
The one thing that polls focus on is PERCENTAGES, yada, yada, yada, 47%, 53 %, etc.
What is going to happen in November is that the single largest turnout in American history is going to storm to polls to vote out the policies of Bush, as exemplified by John “Call Me Three” McCain.
Percentage be damned – the Democrats are going to turn out in massive numbers to elected either Democrat and defeat any Republican.
cosmos,
Come on, “When people prefer falsehoods, then the facts, and science have no chance.”
Are you saying that falsehoods are more powerful that intelligently presented facts.
I don’t buy that anymore than I do the ‘doom and gloom’ AGW scenario. I’m not saying the climate is not changing but damn if I think little ol man is responsible to any great degree, or will be able to effect any significant change. And we shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater in trying to fix what we can’t and aren’t going to.
J R–
Dude, I have no interest in Nathan’s LIFE let alone his sex life.
It was just an example to show that adults don’t need to share everything about their lives with their children to be honest people and good role models.
He was trying to guilt-trip WSClark, and he should really just shut up about it . . .
Actually, truth be told, I am simply throwing crap at WS Clark to throw crap at him.
If he is going to harass me about my sometimes breaking the law for my protection then I am going to harass him about his illegal drug habit.
I am not going to get into a 2nd grade name calling contest with WS Clark like he tries to do, but I have no qualms with giving someone crap if they want to dish it out to others.
WS Clark just opens the door wide and all I have to do is step right in.
MonkeyHawk,
I don’t think that protecting myself is un-American at all.
If this were a D & D type game I would call myself Lawful Good if that makes sense to anyone.
Just wondering what values you instill in those Grand Kids of yours? Teach them about all the wonderful things about marijuana, how it should be legal, and that it is ok to smoke it?
That’s not giving somebody crap about doing something illegal, that’s guilt-tripping them for being a bad influence.
Grow up.
CapnAmerica,
You are one to be talking. Either ES Clark feels guilty about it or he doesn’t.
If he is such a staunch supporter of marijuana being made legal, the smoking of it, then why should he feel guilty about sharing that with his Grandchildren?
Do you think someone should feel guilty for doing that? Talk to WS Clark then.

She was the frontrunner for quite awhile. She has a record of coming back.
That’s correct. I keep throwing her out, and she keeps coming back. One night, we were so drunk, I left her in a big ole garbage dumpster, and she still came back!
She stunk to high heaven, and I could smell she was back before I could see her come back!
And remember that time at the beach, we had the photo shoot then when we supposedly were dancing. You shoulda seen what happened after that! Man, she sure can swim, and far! Somehow that rock came loose from that rope tired around her neck.
Boxlock,
Explain why the IBD op-ed that TRACY copy/pasted at 2:19 pm left out two very important points:
1) Dr. Tapping is not an AGW skeptic.
However, once again it is early days and we cannot at the moment conclude there is another minimum started.”
2) The relevant part of what the Max Planck Society said.
http://www.mpg.de/english/illustrationsDocumentation/documentation/pressReleases/2004/pressRelease20040802
“However, researchers at the MPS have shown that the Sun can be responsible for, at most, only a small part of the warming over the last 20-30 years.”
AGW deniers have to omit the inconvenient facts.
OMG
Nathan plays Dungeons and Dragons.
I did too. When I was 13!
“WS Clark just opens the door wide and all I have to do is step right in.”
And you make a fool of yourself everyday Price.
And that is fine – attack me all you want – I just consider the source – as if you are any sort of person to judge ANYONE else – like your opinions are ANYWHERE near mainstream America.
Just leave my children and grandchildren out of it. They are not and will never be any of your god damned business.
If you want to play the game like Detective AmWay, go for it – I’ll be waiting by the door when the police show up.
Otherwise, just STFU.
That was last year JR.
JR,
I have only played Baldur’s gate and Neverwinter Nights on computer while deployed overseas.
I also love to play poker, Ultimate Frisbee, Softball, Chess, Airsoft, and go Bowling.
Feel free to laugh at any of them. I am not ashamed of having hobbies, friends, and a good social life.
“then why should he feel guilty about sharing that with his Grandchildren?”
Hey, dumbass, she is SEVEN.
I smoke hot and spicy spareribs and eat them while washing it down with beer accompanied by Cajun cole slaw. Do ya’ think I should “SHARE” that with her, also?
Damn, you truly are even more stupid than McCreepy.
I AM trying not to be mean Nathan. Though I am LMAO.
You might learn a bit too and lighten up.
Please don’t assume, that simply because some of you are so emotionally invested in hate towards others on this blog, that I am too.
“You might learn a bit too and lighten up.”
He just can’t, J R, that might be fun and God knows what fun might lead to – sin!
No fun, no sin, end of story.
Is this about having fun?
What do you think I was doing when I was throwing crap at you WS Clark?
It is fun watching you call me names, judge my faith, all the while crying about how judgemental I am….
LOL
The irony is so rich. The only sad thing is that you don’t see it.
cosmos, posted part of a Dr. Tapping’s response;
“It is the opinion of scientists, including me, that global warming is a major issue, and that it might be too late to do anything about it already.”
I was thinking of loading a question and asking you if you really have confidence in this Dr. Tapping’s remarks. Then with your affirmation asking you why you waste so much energy, expelling copious amounts of CO2 yourself, on this subject if it is likely ALREADY TO LATE?
But I won’t. I have decided that instead of letting you drive me nuts with all this chicken little squawking about AGW I am going to welcome it, for you are doing more than enough for the two of us. Call it selfish, short-sighted, criminal, I simply don’t care…I am going to live my life in a reasonable way, with the things we have today to live our lives comfortably. And try to make the lives of the people I love, including my grandkids that will be growing up in this world, very comfortable, giving them all that I can. And that doesn’t include taking them back into the stone age to fix something I have little confidence in man’s ability to alter.
Got it?
Get the log out of your own eye Nathan.
How free have you been to post the most vile things about me.
Me I just kid with you.
Boxlock posted February 18, 2008 at 10:57 pm
“Are you saying that falsehoods are more powerful that intelligently presented facts.”
Not “more powerful”, but equally powerful.
The “products” sold by the AGW deniers are doubt, confusion, and delay — just like the tobacco industry did years ago. And some AGW deniers used to work for the tobacco industry.
Boxlock, are you saying that people who believe the falsehoods, like TRACY posted at 2:19 pm, are “intelligent”?
I doubt that you will ever have children or grandchildren, Price, so my words of wisdom will most likely be academic, but this is how it works.
Parents are adults – parents do NOT share everything ADULT with their children – children do not need to know EVERYTHING that goes on behind closed doors.
Grandparents are just the parents of their children’s, children. We only teach them the values and attitudes that their parents would approve of – not our own – and that is exactly what I do with my grandchildren.
We also do not teach them things that are over their heads or beyond their comprehension.
Could you explain that allure of a hot and spicy rack of ribs and a few cold beers to a seven year old?
Obviously not.
It is highly unlikely that you will ever get to experience the joy of parenthood or grandparenthood, Price, it is something that is obviously foreign to your world.
What you don’t have knowledge of, you should attempt to judge.
End of sermon.
JR,
I have never posted “vile” things about you. We have gone through this discussion several times now.
WSClark,
I’d still like to know what you think of a severance tax on those Holcomb plants power sold outside KS.

Got it?”
Yes.
You don’t understand climate science.
You don’t understand that the solutions to AGW do not mean going back to the “stone age”.
You don’t understand that the CO2 humans exhale is carbon neutral.
In other words Boxlock, you just don’t understand.
Ops, wrong link there WSClark;

You might think that it is funny to try to disparage my status as a grandparent, Price, but I can assure you that BOTH my grandchildren adore me, BOTH love to be with Grandpa and BOTH love me tremendously.
That is something you will never experience, Price.
I teach them everything from how to kick a soccer ball to how to cook the perfect grilled cheese sandwich to why everyone and everything has value.
They love me and I love them with all my heart.
Your cheap, childish insults are meaningless. You haven’t a freakin’ clue. You have no idea.
And you will never know.
And that is your loss.
No cosmos, you don’t understand. The CO2 exhaled was a JOKE….do I need to explain that too?
Nathan?
My reposting what you have said as to me would only make you look bad.
We did this before.
“Same car…
“How many Toyota’s of the same color, same make and model can be found in Wichita?
“A lot…”
Why yes, McCluer, but how many are completely boring moralists on a blog in Wichita – maybe just one… Hmmm. But Clark is correct, it just does not matter – like your boring comments. Thanks for playing. Leave your gratiuity at the door. We’d thank you, but we’re not grateful.
WS Clark,
Now how judgemental of you to say I will never experience those things.
You could almost say it is pretty mean to say I will never experience those things.
I’m not having fun anymore. You are hurting my feelings. Boo hoo.
“What do you think I was doing when I was throwing crap at you WS Clark?”
Hell, Price, I just figured like father like son, judgmental and vindictive, holier than thou, etc.
Can you truly say that it was anything different?
JR,
Yes we have done this before. I have not said vile things about you.
The most vile thing I have done was ask you a loaded question for the sole purpose of showing you what a loaded question was.
I apologized for the content of the question. It was obviously not appropriate even if it was only an example.
And to this day you have yet to figure out or at least acknowledge that you get what a loaded or complex question is.
gratiuity = gratuity
By the way cosmos, it’s all carbon neutral. This is a essentially close system, as you know. The only thing being added and lost is energy. CO2 remains essentially constant just held in different ways.
JR,
Oh yeah, I also pointed out how disturbing it was for you to be talking about how a 16 year old girl was turning you on. (paraphrase)
I don’t take that back. It was wierd, you saying that.
Or I should say Carbon and Oxygen.
Well Nathan
As my friend KFG says, your policy here is “this is not a pipe!” even as you have hit me with it.
And now you call me stupid for being kinder than you.
So, Nathan,
You’re asking for this – you and your father’s comments about J R not having insurance for his son is an indication of his character, rather than a result of his circumstance is not hateful and cruel? Sorry, you guys don’t get off just because you don’t want to stand by your words like real men.
Incredibly pathetic. Is all I can say…
I am going to bed, so won’t be responding to any more of your self-righteous lies.
“You could almost say it is pretty mean to say I will never experience those things.”
Mean perhaps, but the odds say that you will never be a parent and obviously never be a grandparent.
Maybe you have learned this yet, but it DOES take two……………………
I am too tired to be typing this late, I guess.
I should have said;
By the way cosmos, it’s all carbon neutral. This is an essentially closed system, as you know. The only thing being added and lost is energy. Carbon and Oxygen remain essentially constant, just held in different ways.
Now to bed.
Steven Davis,
I finally got tired of listening to JR cry about not having insurance for his son when all it takes is barely a hundred dollars a month.
He finally admitted his son is covered.
If he wasn’t crying about it, then I wouldn’t have said a word.
You have siad far worse things about my father and I than we have ever said about you.
So go cry me a river. The one thing I don’t do is lie. I would be interested in hearing what it is you think I have lied about let alone been self rightous and lying about.
“Oh yeah, I also pointed out how disturbing it was for you to be talking about how a 16 year old girl was turning you on.”
That is a lie Nathan.
What does your religion tell you about lies?
“I’d still like to know what you think of a severance tax on those Holcomb plants power sold outside KS.”
My major concern, Box, on a short term basis is the water issue – severance taxes will not put water back into the aquifier.
Water is the 800# gorilla in the room that everyone seems to be ignoring.
“I finally got tired of listening to JR cry about not having insurance for his son when all it takes is barely a hundred dollars a month.
He finally admitted his son is covered.”
This is also a lie Nathan. I said only that george bush cancelling SCHIP would deprive my son of insurance.
Typical liberal BS.
Cry about something and then when someone calls you on it, cry about that too.
Just like your previous hero Cindy Sheehan. You used her for all she was worth and when Republicans called you on it you called us mean for attacking a woman who lost her son.
Eventually you threw her under the bus because she was too crazy for you too.
When you use your children as shields in a political discussion you don’t get to cry about how mean the people are who end up hitting them in the discussion.
Are we finding the real Nathan?
Boxlock,
Blog text alone does not convey when you you are posting a “JOKE”.
And burning HUGE amounts of carbon that was safely sequestered underground for a very long time does not equal an “essentially close system“.
Like I posted earlier, you do not understand climate science.

And you’re YOUNGER than me.”
Nice bonedig Nathan.
MOSTLY I posted what I did then to get a rise out of people like you.
As we see, it worked.
Nathan WORRIES when he sees pictures of attractive women, even girls. He gets VERY worried if they should show ANYTHING remotely titillating. In fact, if any pictures he sees causes his loins to be aroused, he immediately seeks guidance…………
Yeah, right……………………..
95% do and the other 5% lie about it.
Guidance.
I COULD go get a bonedig of what you and your Dad said on a different thread 4 days later on Christmas day.
WS Clark,
So if some middleaged man told you that your 16 year old Grandkid was hotter than her sister and then said to someone else that if she wasn’t doing anything for them then something was wrong with them you wouldn’t be the slightest bit worried?
Well that is probably not fair as to Nathan WS.
But Nathan is far from fair.
See?
Oh, shut up, Nathan, and stop trying to bring my granddaughter into this discussion. As I said before, she is off-limits to you, period.
She is a ka-billion times better person than you, a ka-billion times smarter than you and has a future a ka-billion times better than yours.
You are not even worthy of knowing her name.
So LEAVE my grandchildren out of your lame, pathetic responses.
Damn………………………..
Let’s do this.
Nathan makes himself a pontiff on the sex of others.
It is fair to ask.
Has Nathan ever had sex?
And I will leave it there.
One day, Price, you will be working for my granddaughter – she will be your boss – and she will ask her Grandpa that she loves dearly about you – and I will tell the truth – and she will reassign you to the janitorial service.
And you will be happy with the promotion.
WS Clark,
Since you are uding your Granddaughter in the discussion, does this mean she is fair game to use in the discussion now?
Well
ONE more.
If Nathan doesn’t lighten up?
In a few years, he will be “Regular”
Oh wait a minute.
What is “uding”?
Price, you are not even worthy of being of the same SPECIES as either of my grandchildren. You are not worthy of even speaking their names. They are light years beyond you in every way, shape and form. On their worst days, they are a ka-billion times better than you.
You could only hope that you could even mentioned as being a shadow of one of my kids or grandkids.
Your absolute best isn’t even a fraction of their worst.
You just don’t measure up.
And if you INSIST on calling a seven year old little girl “FAIR GAME,” well, then we will all know exactly what kind of pervert you are.
Sorry folks, I have to get up early tomorrow and smoke a fresh turkey.
(Oh, my God, is that SOB going to SMOKE a turkey in front of his Grandkids?!?!? Oh, the humanity!?!?!?)
Yep, February 19, 2008 – 55 degrees and the turkey will be smoked at 200 degrees for about eight hours, over hickory chunks, basted in natural juices and various secret spices.
Sorry, Price, you are not invited – I don’t want you around my granddaughter – you pervert.
But, I hope 2CU soon on 2B B42 long.
Out of here……………………..

No “comatose’, YOU can not comprehend written humor. Maybe you should try reading literature or anything but your ‘peer review’ articles. You have no life outside AGW it seems.
And yes the earth is essentially a close system other than for energy gain and loss and the minuscule quantities of matter lost in space.
