Republicans: hell or bust?

Huckabee“Be prepared that the next things you see will be the gates of hell.” — Mike Huckabee, during Thursday’s GOP debate, in a warning to would-be aggressors against the United States

“I will follow Osama bin Laden to the gates of hell and I will shoot him with your products.” — John McCain, at a New Hampshire small-arms factory last fall (McCain later said, “I would not shoot him myself”)

    Doug,

There is plenty more going on between Iran and American forces in Iraq right now. The speed boat incident was only the latest.

Ah, Juvenile, could you stick to the thread, or at least, all the various issues that have already popped up, on this thread?

You DID threaten me, by sending me emails, which I have proven on several occassions.

You told me to quit posting.
You demanded to know who was “paying me” to post.
You demanded to know where I live.
You told me that I would not “last long”

You are a bully and an ass.

You get away with it because most people assume you are crazy and don’t want to mess with you.

Try to stick to the issues and stay away from the personal stuff.

One of the better contemporary histories of the people called “Mormon” is written by The Rev. “Dr” Wesley P. Walters, formerly of Southern Illinois (I think retired now). His book(s) are probably available in a Google search.

For the record, I dont much like the business practices of Sen. Harry Reid, NV, much more than I do Mitt Romney. The entire history of the Mormons is quite questionable in much of their history. However, they do seem to have a high priority on family (their version of family) and on outreach to needy people.

Do I want Mormon for a President?? I honestly dont know. I think I would prefer a Mormon to, say, a Moonie, or a Scientologist. But I am not sure what a candidate’s religion has to do with the Presidency, UNLESS that candidate wants to bltntly turn the nation into a theocracy.

Dante writes in his Inferno that some powerful people were so evil that their souls went immediately to hell while their bodies continued to live on earth possessed by demons.

That would explain Bush and Cheney, wouldn’t it?

    Some late-night thoughts.

Mining the border was a crazy, inhumane idea, but also quite uncharacteristic of JR, and an idea he has since (thankfully) abandoned.

To me, religious bigotry is when one’s religion (or lack thereof) becomes the basis for judging the person. It was perfectly legitimate (if ridiculous, by today’s standards) to ask John Kennedy if the Pope would be the running the U.S. as a proxy dictator (after all, the man’s infallible). Kennedy addressed that question.

To the extent that Romney would use his faith to determine secular public policy, such questions are also fair game. The same goes for the Huckster, and others.

Paul, I’ll admit sometimes JR’s attacks get a little old. I find you more amusing then threatening, even if you occasionally succeed in disgusting me.

But, hey, this is an awesome declaration!:

I always defend people from Bigots.

    That is who I am.

Okay, Paul. Thanks much for the egalitarian sentiment! Would you be willing, say, to defend atheists from bigots who say that they can’t be trusted to hold elective office, merely becuase they are atheists?

You may have already realized that by now, but I thought it merited mentioning. Sometimes we all need to lighten up a bit! (yeah, that means me too!. .) :)
