The BushCo fans are always spouting the ‘evidence’ that Bush ever lied- which was absurd to the rest of us who knew he lied a lot.
Well here it is, compiled nicely into a report.
——————————————————————————–
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080123/ap_on_go_pr_wh/misinformation_study
WASHINGTON – A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The study concluded that the statements “were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.”
Editors, I don’t know if you own the format here, but could we reverse it so that the last comment posts at the top? Would save a bunch of scrolling.
In all his yrs. in control of the SIC, Sen. Roberts couldn’t reach the conclusion above, should tell you what a partisan hack he truly is!
“Editors, I don’t know if you own the format here, but could we reverse it so that the last comment posts at the top? Would save a bunch of scrolling.”
That’s not a good idea. Discussion boards go top down for a reason. Earlier comments should be read first, because they create the context for many later comments. You are likely to have even more out of context and inappropriate responses than we have now.
I’ve been on boards that do last post first format, and there is no confusion to those who know it.
It saves a lot of time and frustration in my opinion.
Political_mama,
That post you Posted January 23, 2008 at 6:25 am was discussed yesterday in the open thread.
Here’s my responses:
“This is more of the same. As you said, both sides were complicit in outlining reasons to invade Iraq. The videos I provided show undeniable truth that the same people on the Democratic side of the house made similar states before Bush took office and after he took office.
To put up a scam study of revisionist history serves no purpose other than to encourage rancor.”

Apple, Motorola give disappointing outlooks; investors can’t shake recession fears.
January 23 2008: 7:42 AM EST
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Wall Street looked set to take another beating Wednesday, as investors reacted to disappointing outlooks from Apple and Motorola and remained haunted by recession fears.
At 7:35 a.m. ET, Nasdaq and S&P futures were sharply lower, suggesting steep losses at the start of trading once again.

Bush Bear Market will seal the fate of the Republicans.
Just because bush and cronies sold some dems. a bill of goods, doesn’t exonerate them!
Those of you that have the stomach to look at the “maggot punks” website can see what kind of people they are. So you can imagine the lies they spread about the brave folks who exercise their free speech rights protesting the carnage at Tiller’s “clinic”. And as Mary Caruso has pointed out so often, not everyone’s opposition is motivated by religious beliefs any more than those who are pro-choice are motivated by the anti-God beliefs of the “maggot punks”.
So “Kev”, cool the violent rhetoric. It’s stupid and unhelpful.
Sorry. Wrong thread.
Krugman on “Debunking the Reagan Myth”:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/21/opinion/21krugman.html
Regular – Just because you posted about this yesterday, again backing Bush in the face of overwhelming evidence, does not mean that it is the last word. But it does go to show that Bush supporters have GOT TO BE THE MOST CLOSEMINDED PEOPLE EVER. To continue to deny, deflect, and outright lie in the face of all this evidence is truly unbelievable.
TDT,
I also pointed out in my other posts that both sides were complicit. For Democrats to go into a state of denial and virtually lie about what they have said, voted on and acted upon is hypocrisy at all time low level of disgusting.
Sorry, but the Dems don’t get out of this one, they were in bed with the Iraq scenario since the 1990s.
Political trickery doesn’t work on me or others who know what the Dems have said and voted on.
I don’t care who we were in bed with in the 1990’s, the fact is, we weren’t in a never ending war, and our president and his associates weren’t raking in the money while the rest of the country goes down in flames. So don’t talk to me about the duplicity of Democrats, he was flinging out propaganda for 2 years, so if the Democrats are guilty of anything, it is being gullible and believing the lies of the WH. BTW, not all of us were so stupid as to believe his lies, and were against the war in Iraq from the VERY BEGINNING!!
TDT,
The problem is that the lies were carried over from the Clinton administration who didn’t have a clue on foreign intelligence gathering.
Evidently, you haven’t watched the video I linked to or you wouldn’t be making such statements unless you are another blind ideologue.
Take a look and listen:
Democrats’ Hypocrisy Over The Iraq War
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FCVZlLBchVE&feature=related
No both sides didn’t outright lie, Kansas. Now that you can no longer deny that he did lie, you have to resort to ‘they did it too?”. No the dems did NOT do it too. They listened and chose to believe, like many of us did, who didn’t believe that Bush was REALLY so bad of a president to LIE to the American people about a war.
We were WRONG. The dems were wrong in listening to him.
Even Bill Clinton said he would have never gone about Saddam in the same manner that Bush did, and that was said right after the invasion of Iraq.
Defend, deflect, deny…defend, deflect, deny.
It’s getting old.
Hey Troll monitors…deal with your own before you falsely accuse others, ok? RD posted a baby crying at 11:21 last night–using my nic to post it. Sorry, RD, but I was sound asleep at that time..some of us responsible adults have to get up in the morning to go to work.
Typical childish stunts. Accuse others of doing what your own buddies are doing.
Taz,
You will find that the Left Libs on this blog are some of the most accomplished liars on the planet. They will scream, holler and whine about trolls – while at the same time they are among the worst violators of what they complain about.
I have seen that, Reg. This blog had promise, but the children have taken over…it is pretty disappointing when any differing opinion is met with personal insults, vile attacks and childish pranks.
Very sad.
I agree Pmom. Whenever the wingnuts here or their idols get caught lying, stealing, whatever, their first response is “bipartisan”.
They did it too, Bill Clinton, everyone does it, are simply the latest in a long line of excuses for bad behavior.
And when it looks like the Democrats will take over both the Congress and the White House? They cant mouth the words “cooperation” “reaching across the aisle” and “bipartisan” fast enough.
Funny, they only want to work together when they see an impending ass whooping.
Too little too late. Repukes still have a year, so let’s see them do the bipartisan, cooperation two step FIRST this year.
Taz,
I’ve never posted a picture on this blog. I assumed it was you and was kidding with my response to seeing it. Sorry you didn’t “get” that, but it wasn’t me. I don’t stoop to those kind of things. Never have, never will.
My nic will ALWAYS accompany anything I post.
My apologies, RD. Your posts were before and after that. Now, I see someone has done it again. I am sincerely sorry for wrongly accusing you.
Disappointing that whoever is doing that doesn’t have the maturity to post their own name/nic.

When it comes to Bush and the Iraq war, including the run up to it, the buck stops with him and his administration. Whether people went along with it or not is not the point.
The current administration, with Bush at its head, provided the information to be voted on. Congress voted to use force, after certain conditions were met. Those conditions were ignored. When Republicans and especially George W. Bush take responsibility for that, maybe something can be done. But when has GWB ever take responsibility for anything? He reeks of sociopathic tendancies, and, right or wrong, the stink has reached the rest of you.
Well Taz, there is only one poster that I’m aware of that is Leftist Lib Progressive that knows how to post images here. I’m sure you can figure it out.
He is the same one always whining about no control of the Wichita Eagle Blog, yet he steals nics and troll posts all the time.
I am still against the Dubai port deal, in that it is not a country we are fighting but a loose knit group in many countries though out the Middle East and the world. And yes Dubai along with the U.A.E. has played an unwitting role in it. They often have the same problem that Pakistan faces, it is hard to know the players without a score card. Every country in the middle East has their share of the extremists in them.
What would have been a better said concern about a aims deal with S.A. is that it along with Egypt, they have the fastest growth of home grown terrorism and their governments are often dancing on the head of a pin to stay in power. It is not that the terrorists at this point would gain control of these weapons it is that in the future they might gain the power and control of these countries.
As to the “lies” and who was spreading them, that was a big failure on many fronts. First is the CIA, they had moved from human assets to technological assets. This allowed a failing of real time and personal data.
It lead to such misreads like what came out when Gen. Powell gave his speech to the U.N. At the same time the speech was being broadcasted one of the weapons inspectors was watching and recognized one of the supposed weapons sites. As being one he had personal inspected, to his dismay when he learn of the time and date the photo had been taken. HE had been in the building at that very same time and date!
But the point being that there was faulty data from the start.
Second is there was a concerted effort by key members of the Bush Administration that did form a special intelligence group within the D.O.D. This group did go through the information that was gathered. quite a bit of it was raw data that had come in and was not verified. And yes the term “Cherry picking” does apply.
Often discounting data that was contrary to their desires and noting that data that was supportive of their desire.
Then distributed by means of giving one source many outlets to make it seem that the same information was had by more then one source. Take into account the reality that our intelligence agencies did not have the needed ability to verify nor discount it. This Cherry picked information was than pass out to whom ever requested it. There are a number of Pentagon employees at the time state that when asked for information on Iraq. They had been given “talking points” that were to be placed in every report.
Paul Wolfowitz in the D.O.D. and Doug Felth ( sorry I know I have misspelled his name) in State were instrumental in spreading the errant information through out the Government. Both have been in the Government throughout the last thirty years. At one time Wolfowitz actually tried to convince President Reagan I believe that we needed to get in a shooting war with Russia.
In the end, there is plenty of blame to go around and it did not help that foreign Government neither totally was backing the Intel for the invasion but neither were they prepared to dispute it. Snafu again!
No problem, Taz. I have to say that it is a cute kid, though. :) I thought maybe “she” was crying over the the condition of our country.
Thanks, Reg…but it is not worth the time to worry about some childish prank. I will take the advice of not feeding the trolls and ignore this pathetic attempt to rile me.
Writerdog,
My reading is sparse, thanks to little time to enjoy, and I applaud you for yours. Have you read Richard Clarke’s “Against All Enemies”? Excellent example of how our Intelligence communities do not communicate. Pretty sad, too, considering we probably have some of the best intel in the world and could do so much better.

Kinda-sorta taking in CNN Headline News, and the unsurprising priorities.
Heath Ledger’s tragic death: wall-to-wall coverage, of course
50,000 starving Palestinians break the wall, and Egypt lets them come in–because Israel is starving them: 30 seconds.
Yes Rd it was the first book I read on the subject.
But I have taken a bit of a break on reading books at the moment. I got a couple of hundred pages into ‘Bushworld” and stopped. I found it much like a Michael Moore movie. There maybe some real and factual parts. But in the attempt to be creative, the author made it easy to discount. You should try Partick J. Buchanan “WHERE THE RIGHT WENT WRONG, how the Neoconservatives subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency” Also Bob Woodward’s third installment “STATE OF DENIAL”. Both books are very informational and relevant to what has happen and I hope has been stopped.
And speaking of authors how is the newsest one coming for you?
50,000 starving Palestinians break the wall, and Egypt lets them come in–because Israel is starving them: 30 seconds
Actually, I think it was closer to 15 seconds. . .
Rage–I suppose we could consider ourselves lucky that Brittney didn’t get another haircut, or there would be NO real news on there.

Isn’t that what the Defense Intelligence Agency is for? That agency has been around for decades.
Rage can you see the irony of a wall keeping the Hamas out of Egypt which is a very big country while blasting Israel for keeping them out of their very small country?
What is wrong with this picture? Israel is at fault because….?
Writer in your wordy article about Dubai you failed to point out that Bill Clinton has and is still taking hundreds of thousands from them to be their main DC lobbyiest for the port deal. Maybe a little more research is in order. This was made very public and has been an issue early on with Hillaries campaign. Somehow it just went away.
WD,
Woodward’s “Plan of Attack” is on my bookshelf, but as yet unread. I picked it up at the Art & Book Fair at Riverfest for a couple of bucks. :) Right now, I need some humor, and since Dave Madden sent me his book, “Reuben on Wry”, I’ll dive into that next…when time allows.
I’ll know about the “newest” in a year or so, when the numbers come in. It did garner some good reviews though, so that’s a plus.

See the lower left of the big photo for the Martian.
Now, not described in the Fox story, but visible to my superior eyes is a Martian dog.
Yes, a Martian dog.
Follow the Martian Man’s pointing arm to the East South East in the photo, and you will see the Martian Dog standing on his two back legs facing to the right, tail pointing back to the left.
It appears that the Dog is playing fetch with the Man.
Now if they don’t show up in a 2nd set of photos, you will know they are moving and thus alive.
Otherwise, they could be like the stone figures of Pompei, forever molded by molten lava.
Praytell, what grabs the spam-hammer’s attention?

Attitude? – too much iconoclasm, etc.
Message? – liberalism, etc. (note, bow to the ‘redness’ of the milieu)
<1> What is wrong with this picture? Israel is at fault because….?
Because they’re disrupting people’s lives and jobs, a undiscriminating approach to an entire region. Whether we like or not, Israel and the occupied territories share resources in a way that Egypt does not.
The election of Hamas was a dismally predictable outcome, but it’s not the Borg collective: the people of Gaza are individual human beings, not “Hamas.” And–news flash! Not everyone voted for Hamas.
Of course, those of us in the U.S. who are sane have to bear the burden of “W.”, so you may have a point there. . .
ksgrm – it is Israel who is blockading their coastline preventing imports and exports. The US is assisting with this blockade. We are also maintaining an air shutdown on them. Gaza is, in effect, a massive prison camp under Israeli control. Egypt maintained the isolation by agreement with Israel.
Israel/USA have blocked attempts to allow EU and Arab League peace-keepers into the prison camps of gaza and the West Bank. The reason they have given is that conditions there are an “internal Israeli affair.” In other words, Israel claims sovereignty over both Gaza and the West Bank – even though they refuse to follow international law and provide for their prisoners.
. . .what Ben said, too.
What the CIA says about the Gaza Strip.
“The Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in September 2005 offered some medium-term opportunities for economic growth, but continued crossings closures since HAMAS seized control of the territory in June 2007 have resulted in widespread private sector layoffs and shortages of most goods.”
CIA World Fact Book
Max,
What on earth :-) are you talking about?
I can clearly see the MADE IN CHINA sticker.
Does spam-hammer disallow by URL, Name, E-mail, …, iconoclasm, …?
Whatever that stuff is on Mars, it’s all a lie and big massive plot by Bush and Israel. They are always to blame.
“If only one country, for whatever reason, tolerates a Jewish family in it, that family will become the germ center for fresh sedition. If one little Jewish boy survives without any Jewish education, with no synagogue and no Hebrew school, it [Judaism] is in his soul. Even if there had never been a synagogue or a Jewish school or an Old Testament, the Jewish spirit would still exist and exert its influence. It has been there from the beginning and there is no Jew, not a single one, who does not personify it.”
- Robert Wistrich, Hitler’s Apocalypse, p. 122; from a conversation with Croatian Foreign Minister General Kvaternik, July 21, 1941
“The internal expurgation of the Jewish spirit is not possible in any platonic way. For the Jewish spirit as the product of the Jewish person. Unless we expel the Jewish people. Unless we expel the Jewish people soon, they will have judaized our people within a very short time.”
- Jackel, Hitler’s Worldview, p. 52; from a speech at Nuremberg, January 13, 1923
“The heaviest blow which ever struck humanity was Christianity; Bolshevism is Christianity’s illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew.”
- Norman Cameron and R.H. Stevens, trans., (Oxford, 1953), Hitler’s Table-Talk, p. 7
Max,
Using my professional graphics software (cough) – I enhanced the Mars photo to investigate further. I was surprised and shocked what I found.
When people were skeptical about bush on Iraq, the Republican mantra was “He’s in a position to have intelligence the rest of the politicians and America isn’t privy to”, when it turns out that he didn’t have anymore intelligence, it’s “the Dem. politicians went right along with him”, lesson learned never give defference to a liar and an idiot!
The Gaza situation reminds me of Nazi Germany when they had the jews sequested in that tiny area portrayed in “The Pianoist”. Never Forget! Difference is instead of humanely killing them, they are killing them by slow starvation.
There needs to be an ENEMY to hate.
Someone ELSE to blame.
You cannot control the people unless you can control their minds and direct them to HATE an enemy and unite against it.
Any MEANS shall be justified by the END goal.
Sounds like Hillary Clinton’s philosophy doesn’t it? She could be heard saying something along the lines of this, not too different then the thinking of Saul Alinsky, the mentor of Hillary Clinton:
“.. Do you now appreciate the depth of our National Socialist Movement? Can there be anything greater and more all comprehending? Those who see in National Socialism nothing more than a political movement know scarcely anything of it. It is more even than religion; it is the will to create mankind anew.”
- Rauschning, Hitler Speaks
Ben and Rage Israel has offered to give back over 90% of the land they won fair and square when they were invaded. I won’t get into the entire history of the war between Palestine and Israel but there is history here you are ignoring. Hamas threatens Israel everyday. Even Egypt told them to stop. They won’t. Do we not allow Israel to protect herself?
Not sure I get the rational here.
“Five Arab League countries (Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Transjordan and Iraq) invaded Israel, sparking the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Israel captured territory that changed its borders, but left Jerusalem a divided city. In the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel captured the West Bank from Jordan, the Gaza Strip from Egypt, and East Jerusalem including the Old City and its holy sites, which Israel annexed and reunited with the Western neighborhoods of Jerusalem. The status of the city as Israel’s capital and the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip has remained a source of bitter conflict.
For decades after 1948, Arab governments had refused to recognize Israel and in 1964 the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded with the central tenet that Palestine, with its original Mandate borders, is the indivisible homeland of the Arab Palestinian people. In turn Israel refused to recognise the PLO as a negotiating partner. In 1988, Yasser Arafat stated that he recognized Israel’s right to exist, thus providing the first step needed to enable negotiations between Israel and the PLO.”
There is much more here than we in the US recognize. Israel is an island in an Arab world and as such has to protect herself and her people daily. Would you take away their right to exist?
About Hillary and Alinsky:
(To read a PDF copy of the thesis, click here. This copy was obtained via the Freedom Underground web site.)
With Hillary Clinton poised to win the Democratic nomination for president, questions about her intellectual and moral education abound. One of the major intellectual influences – perhaps an emotional one was well – was radical social philosopher and activist Saul Alinsky. As this story shows, Alinsky was both the ladder Hillary climbed to gain new perspectives on society – specifically the poor – and then, once there, a ladder she tossed aside when she no longer needed it.

Ksgrm, I hardly have time to post, let alone the debate the entirety of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly when it’s not even necessary.
You seem to be arguing that any action taken under the mantle of “protecting Israel” is justified. I think that speaks for itself.
Yeah could be Regular.
Elvis is alive and well on Mars!
(Fits in well with the Jewish Hate thread and Economy thread too.)
Herr Max,
The Third Reich lost. Get over it.
Actually Ksgrm, the Lib view here on Israel is at least consistent.
They would cut the US Defense budget, surrender in Iraq, pull our troops back from the rest of the world and most importantly:
Tolerate a few attacks on America, because we deserve it.
The Libs are advocating the same thing for Israel as they are for the USA.
At least they are consistent on this.
No Rage, the Hate of the Third Reich is very much alive and well on this blog.
No one has an rational explanation for not allowing Israel to defend itself.
Hate for the Jews is the only explanation I can find.
I don’t agree with it. I was simply pointing out how similar the anti-Israel arguments are today, as compared to Hitlers remarks from 70 years ago.
HATE – HATE – HATE.
Is that really ALL you Libs have to sell?
The only Positive sell any of the 3 Dem POTUS Candidates have is Free National Healthcare.
And that comes at the expense of hard-working American taxpayers working hard to pay for others.
Ahhh, National Socialism, the new Dem Mantra.
You, Max, are least consistent on making things up and attributing it all to “liberals.”
Yawn. . .
Darn Democrats are no better at deficit spending than their republican counter-parts. All those campaign promises/all those lies.
Well, at least I shouldn’t hear anymore libs trying to promote their party as the one to balance the budget.
“The budget deficit for the current budget year will jump to about $250 billion, the Congressional Budget Office estimated Wednesday, citing the weakening economy. And that figure does not reflect at least $100 billion in additional red ink from an upcoming deficit-financed economic stimulus measure.
The nonpartisan CBO says that once the cost of wars is added to its “baseline” deficit estimate of $219 billion, the deficit would be about $250 billion.
Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said the 2008 deficit would reach more than $350 billion once the costs of an upcoming economic stimulus measure under negotiation between the Bush administration and Congress are factored in.” TIME/CNN
Libs have no other message Rage:
2 Americas the poor hate the rich!
Let’s tax the rich to death!
Evil corporations!
Let’s tax the corporations to death!
Free stuff for the people!
Who has that quote from Billary about taking ALL the profits from the Oil Companies and giving it to the Government?
The nerve of dems. talk about spending 150 to 300 bil on Americans, when that money is damn well earmarked for Iraq!
That’s the problem Phantom, your party likes to spend money ‘we’ don’t have, just like the republicans.
The Dems haven’t stopped spending money in Iraq!
The Dems haven’t reduced the Iraq funding by one dime!
Max, and the Dems approved EVERY dime being spent on the wars.

“LAKE NORMAN, N.C. – Nuclear reactors across the Southeast could be forced to throttle back or temporarily shut down later this year because drought is drying up the rivers and lakes that supply power plants with the awesome amounts of cooling water they need to operate.”
Under the Democratic Congress, the costs of earmarks has gone down by $2.1 billion, earmarks are a drop in the bucket of Federal spending.
Earmarks = $20 billion per year, spent in America.
The War on Iraq = $200 billion per year, spent in Iraq.
The conclusion is obvious.
Further, Bush never vetoed a spending bill while Republicans controlled Congress – now he is suddenly fiscally responsible and wants to veto everything.
Worst President Ever.
HATE BUSH.
HATE BUSH.
HATE BUSH.
Don’t ya get it AmWay? Everything is Bush’s fault!
According to the Party of Hate.
You had a good post the other day about all The People taking off their team’s jersey’s and instead, rooting for the same team. Team USA.
Nice idea, but that will never happen.
The People would have to be intelligent enough to reason and consider differing views, and evaluating differing views based on the facts.
Instead, ideas are evaluated based upon who presents the idea.
JFK can propose Tax Cuts and get overwhelming support from Democrats.
Bush proposes Tax Cuts and Democrats HATE him for cutting taxes on the rich.
I’m convinced most people are too stupid to see there is no free lunch. There are too stupid to realize that they must work hard to earn a decent paycheck and they are too brainwashed to see there is no money tree.
Eyes will remain shut until after the train crashes, in the biggest Worldwide Depression ever seen. The Socialist Experiment will fail again when National Healthcare is added to the burden of Social Security and Medicare, the US and then the World Economy will collapse.
By the mid-2020’s those still alive will wish that they weren’t.
Course Global Warming will kill us all before then, so who cares?
Spend away!
Max, if what you post at 11:28 a.m. is true, you should LOVE the Dems!! LOL
Hey Max…I am surprised we haven’t seen the extinction of dinosaurs, Marilyn Monroe’s death, and the cancellation of Bonanza all claimed to be Bush’s fault as well.
“You had a good post the other day about all The People taking off their team’s jersey’s and instead, rooting for the same team. Team USA.”
Yeah, NOW the Republicans want to play nice and share the ball for the benefit of America.
Tell that to disgraced Republican Rep. Duke Cunningham who wanted Democrats and anti-war folks “lined up against a wall and shot.”
Tell that to Ann “the Man” Coulter who warned that “liberals too can be killed.”
Tell that to former Speaker Dennis Hasert who wanted a “Majority of the Majority” rule for passing bills in the House.
Tell that to Rush O’Hannity and the rest of the professional right wing haters.
Yeah, now you folks want to play nice on the playground.
Who said anything about any of those people Clark?
Not me.
My post was referring to the masses. The sheep.
Who said anything about playing nice?
Rage the inconstistency of your statement speaks volumns. The nation of Isareal was attacked and fought back winning the war in 1948 square and fair. Then the aggressors said wait we didn’t mean to do it. Give us our land back. Israel wanting to be a good neighbor said we want a nation and will give the majority of it back but we will keep enough to have a nation of Israel. Still with me. The Palestinians said NO, we want it all. All of the other Arab nations who have land going to waste ganged up on Israel and said ‘give it back’. We are hanging onto our land.
This would have one purpose and that is to irradicate the Jewish nation. Do you agree with this – then you could have teamed up with Hitler and held a high position.
Clark — All bullies want to play nice when their backs are against the wall, or they are pinned to the ground!! LOL
“My post was referring to the masses.”
About 37% of Americans are Republicans, 39% Democrats, the rest are independents or members of fringe parties.
It’s a bit difficult to separate the masses from those identifying with a particular party when 76% of Americans positions themselves with one party or another.
Ummm Hitler was DEAD by 1948!! LOL
And by the way if we are going to revise history to suit our beliefs then I believe that the pilgrims cheated the native Americans when they bought Manhattan and New York with a string of beads. Lets give those beads back and move out those millions of people now calling that area home.
Fair is only fair. Where will those people go? I don’t care. They didn’t come by that land fair and square in my view so they can just go somewhere else.
“The nation of Isareal was attacked and fought back winning the war in 1948 square and fair.”
The Nation of Israel was created from Arab land in 1948 by UN mandate, with the support of England and the US, in response to the Holocaust.
Republican and Democrats are just team names.
Historically, this predates modern history and can be traced as far back as the Roman gladiator times and the human and animal killings in greek amphitheatres. Dictators like wars to keep the sheep mad about something. Or a villian if you will.
Venzuela has a good one going now as example.
Distract the people.
At some point, some gladiator banged some emporers wife, and figured out, “Hey, this ain’t half bad!” So they crawled up from the prisons and demanded a middle class (so other suckers could be fed to lions). And greek democracy was formed. But they still needed a bad guy. So they they gave bacteria a name germs and invented Windex to clean and kill them.
And now, we have republican and democrat parties. The system is rigged against an independent. Like the YIN and YANG, two is all they can stand for polarity.
From that original gladiator, sprung our ancestors. And now we have WSCLARK cheering for the Blue Team, and American Way, mostly cheering for the Red.
Meanwhile, neither side wants to share the ball WS, they want to squeeze all our balls.
Now, KsGrm, THAT is true about those beads!! Tooo funny!!!
Chas Idiot it was an anology of the belief that taking the jews homesland is a valid point. Sorry for the idiot. Sometimes you just invite abuse.
“they bought Manhattan and New York with a string of beads.”
The Israelis did not buy the land from the Arabs – it was given to them.
Chas, another question for you, why did the Jews need a homeland in 1948?
Because they wanted somewhere to live in “peace” and because they believed, and still believe that where they are now IS their rightful Homeland.
WS however you think they gained it doesn’t really matter. Since 1948 that has been their homeland. Why now do we as a nation think we can demand they move out and let the Palestinians have it?
“After the 1948 Arab-Israeli war where Israel was formed, the Gaza Strip was incorporated into Egypt and the West Bank into Jordan. In 1964 the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was formed to organize efforts for the establishment of a Palestinian homeland.”
By the way Wiki thinks there was an Israeli-Arab war in 1948.
Chas that was very good. Sorry about the name calling. You didn’t deserve it.
“The nation of Isareal was attacked and fought back winning the war in 1948 square and fair.”
The Nation of Israel was created from Arab land in 1948 by UN mandate, with the support of England and the US, in response to the Holocaust. WSCLARK
Actually, there was a 1948 Arab-Israeli War so the original poster is correct.

“By the way Wiki thinks there was an Israeli-Arab war in 1948.”
I didn’t say that there wasn’t, I said that the State of Israel was developed by UN mandate.
“Why now do we as a nation think we can demand they move out and let the Palestinians have it?”
I never suggested that, either, but Israel was plopped down in the middle of Arab lands.
Now, it would only be fair that the Palestinians have a homeland also. If fact, there will never be peace in the Middle East until they do.
However it happens, the Palestinian issue has to be addressed – no peace until it is.
I am not siding directly with the Jews or the Arabs, but it is naive to think that there is just one side to the issue.
The Jews will have to give, as will the Arabs.
By the way, you do know that Jesus spoke Aramaic, a Syrian Arab dialect? Jesus was a Palestinian Jew.
Ummmm just where did Israel manage to get an Army together to fight this “war” in 1948??
“Actually, there was a 1948 Arab-Israeli War so the original poster is correct.”
Do you really believe that European Jews attacked the Palestinian mainland and TOOK Israel from the Arabs?
UN mandate – look it up.
Yes, the Arabs fought back, hence the 1948 war, but the Israelis certainly did not establish the State of Israel on their own.
WS what part of the Jews offered 90% of the land to the Palestinians and they refused. They want all or nothing. Wiping Israel out is the only solution for them.
Oh, BTW, I do believe it is Egypt who was keeping the border closed, and not Israel??
And I dont know where anybody else was, but I have heard about that border closing off and on all night… On Coast to CoastAM news, and on NPR news… Also, heard about the movie actor found dead…
Sometimes, I get the strange idea that just maybe we really do have a parallel universe over-lapping this one!!

Ummmm just where did Israel manage to get an Army together to fight this “war” in 1948??
I don’t know Chas I wasn’t old enough to remember this but maybe they had help from God’s army.
Actually, I believe that the Arabs fought back against UN forces, and not Israeli forces…
For what it’s worth, I saw a couple of talking head TV preachers who are saying that this conflict HAS to happen, in order to help Jesus make a return… (Isnt that about what some of the Radical Islamic clerics are saying about the conflict being necessary, to resurrect their Imam from that well??)
If Canada launched mortar rounds into populated regions of the USA, you don’t think for a minute, that we would not respond?
In effect, every time Hamas launches missles at Israel, they are starting a war. Israel appears to be trying to show restraint (where they could invade again). But they must respond to attacks upon their territory. We would do the same or worse (depending upon which party is in power, we might drop a cruise missle on an outhouse in Canada if libs were in power. An atomic bomb if republican).
Hamas, is very very good at the propoganda war. They have been known to rig sites with bodies before the press arrives. So of course, the world will focus on it’s starving people and blame Israel – but not discuss disarming the latest version of the PLO.
IIRC, the idea of a Jewish homeland in the middle east which occurred in 1948 under the U.N. mandate was proposed in a White Paper put together in the British Foreign Office in the 1920s, at a time when “Palestine” was a British protectorate. If my memory is correct, the day that the State of Israel was “officially recognized”, created, born, whatever, there was an attack on the new nation by the Arab League nations, the identities of which are posted upthread.
Again, from memory, the initial creation of the State of Israel contemplated the creation of a separate state where the dispossessed Palestinians were to live. This was not recognized as valid by many Arab nations, among others.
The geographical area of the State of Israel is regarded by many to be the “property” of the Jewish people by right, citing the Old Testament. The descendants of the Palestinian people who were dispossessed of their holdings in the current State of Israel upon its creation feel that this land is rightfully theirs, given the generations who had occupied and “owned” it prior to 1948. There are claims of these people to the City of Jerusalem as well, in this case based upon the Koran.
Unless and until the problems created by the creation of the State of Israel can be solved, it is my opinion that there will never be a “peace” in the Middle East.
Amway, I dont disagree with what you post there, but I am not sure what kind of spin you are putting on it…
Sometimes, I have the feeling that if the rest of the world would stay OUT of the conflict, Israel and the Palestinians could work it out among themselves…
1947–1948 Civil War in mandatory Palestine

The link above will explain the war much better than I ever could. I can only conclude that the Zionists wanted a homeland so badly that they just wouldn’t give up and the Arabs left voluntaryly.
It is an interesting story and I have researched it at length. Still feel as if with all of the land available over they that Israel deserves to keep the little slice that have inhabitated for many years. They irrigated it, made many improvements to it and now it is something the Arabs think would be beneficial to own. Maybe there is more I’m not seeing but as a nation we have no right to tell Israel not to fight back.
Well said VT. And a good start would be the freeing of the ‘occupied terrories’ and allowing peace-keepers in to help with antion-building.
Chas not really trying to spin it in any direction. I do sometimes feel that for the little nation of Israel to withstand the attacks of the entire Arab nations for so long they must have some protection the world doesn’t see.
Every American president makes it a part of his years in the presidency to start another venture at peace in the middle east. None have ever worked.
Interesting, the nations full of people who hate us – seem to turn to us to step in.
Maybe we should keep our noses out of these countries (and end all aid) and we would be better off.
Apparently a large majority of Americans are jewish/israel supporters, because we keep voting people into the white house who support Israel.
How else is the small country of Israel getting all our support?
KsGrm, I didnt ssay you were spinning anything… was responding to what AmWay posted… then again, ???
Another part to tax reform passed in the early years of the Kennedy administration, in addition to reduction in the top marginal rate for individuals, was the concept of accelerated depreciation to encourage new investment in PP&E. The latter was deemed necessary as there had been little of this type of investment following WW II.
“Wiping Israel out is the only solution for them.”
Nonsense, even the most radical brain dead Arab whack job KNOWS that the West will never allow Israel to be wiped off the map.
Even that Iranian head case, Amajeanadadoski knows that Israel is here to stay.
He may be a flaming idiot, but he’s just not that stupid. If he tried anything with Israel, his Muslim Cleric handlers would have him whacked.
They are not flaming idiots.
“I do sometimes feel that for the little nation of Israel”
That little Nation of Israel is a nuclear power and has the strongest armed forces (except ours) in the Middle East.
There is a reason that the Arabs do not attack Israel directly – they get their asses kicked every time they do.
Interesting quote from Krauthammer. Many will dismiss him as a right wing pundunt but can you deny the truth of what he says?
Quote from Charles Krauthammer – The Weekly Standard, May 11, 1998
“Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the only nation on earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language, and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago. You dig the soil and you find pottery from Davidic times, coins from Bar Kokhba, and 2,000-year-old scrolls written in a script remarkably like the one that today advertises ice cream at the corner candy store.”
From today’s Fresno Bee:
Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards’ campaign for president offers a much-needed vision that recognizes the hope and promise of America. It’s a view that includes solidifying the plight of working families and others in the middle class.
This group of Americans has struggled the past eight years under an administration that has catered to the well-connected and powerful, and it’s time for leadership that understands the contributions and needs of American families.
We believe that John Edwards can provide that leadership and urge Democratic and independent voters to support him in the California primary on Feb. 5.
Edwards has been running behind Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama in the early primary and caucus states, and we recognize that he needs to do better if he is going to have a chance of winning the nomination. We believe that Edwards has the opportunity to do well in the upcoming states as his message of hope begins to be heard.
Edwards has a realistic plan for withdrawing this nation from the quagmire of the Iraq war. He has proposed reducing troop levels by 40,000 to 50,000 immediately and then withdrawing all “combat” troops in 10 months. He would station about 10,000 troops in neighboring countries to serve as “quick reaction forces” if al-Qaida attempts to make Iraq a safe haven.
He supports a balanced immigration policy that recognizes the need for an agricultural guest-worker program that would enable farmworkers to “come out of the shadows.” He would protect our borders by doubling the Border Patrol and sanction employers who hire illegal immigrants. In exchange for playing by the rules, he would offer illegal immigrants a path to citizenship. That path would not be a gift, but would include paying a fine and learning English.
Edwards has been out in front in offering solutions to the nation’s economic problems, even before the administration realized the depth of the current crisis. His plan includes a $25 billion economic package that would invest in clean energy, expand unemployment benefits, help states that are cash-strapped and establish a “home rescue fund” to keep homes out of foreclosure. His plan could grow to $100 billion if the economy doesn’t turn around.
We supported Edwards four years ago in the Democratic primary because he offered a real opportunity to bridge a nation that has been divided along class lines. That need has only increased under the current administration, and we think Edwards, with his populist message, offers a change for the better.
Sorry Chas my bad.
Let’s see — Israel stays in need of help and assistance from the West… The Palestinians keep on complaining and timely launch a few missiles… and they get help and assistance from other Arab States… And they both continue to exist…
Maybe thats the way it works out best for both of them?? Without assistance could either one make it on their own?? Just a thought??
And on that thought work calls.
““Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the only nation on earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language, and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago.”
The Native Americans have them beat by about 20,000 years.
And America funds the oil nations funding Hamas, and in this way fund both sides of the battle.
Buy a hybrid.
“The Native Americans have them beat by about 20,000 years”.
Time span is accurate, but the name is not. They could accurately be called “First Americans”, but not ‘native’, as they immigrated from Asia across the land bridge on the Bering Sea about 25,000 years ago.
Taz, once the first bunch of them were BORN here nearly 25,000 years ago, THEN they were Native Americans… right?? LOL
And, after all, the Israeli’s started off way down South in the land of Ur of the Chaldees… ummm modern day Iraq….
Actually, Europe, the US, and the Arabs directly fund Hamas with “humanitarian” aid for food and supplies.
When the cash was pulled last year, all of sudden the fighting momentarily stopped, while the Palestians had to focus on doing something productive, like searching for food.
The Palestians have their hand out in the Socialist world. Without aid, they whither on the vine. They cannot survive on their own. (Sound familiar?) They CHOOSE to make guns instead of butter.
And when their backs are pounded against the wall by the latest Israeli offensive, all of a sudden they talk peace.
A truce is signed, foreign aid resumes, the Palestinians go on the offense again starting a new round of battles in the thousands year old war.
Repeat, then repeat again, and again.
I agree with those who say leave the Palestianians and Israelis alone to duke it out. Unfortunately, that will never happen.
True, Chas. That would also make me a Native American, since I was born here….(actually, I do have some Sioux Nation heritage..but not enough to be considered Tribal)
“as they immigrated from Asia across the land bridge on the Bering Sea about 25,000 years ago.”
The Native Americans did not across a land bridge from Asia via the Bering Straits – there is absolutely no archaeological evidence to support that theory.
They arrived via boats in the NW area of what is now the US.
Read “Red Earth, White Lies” by the late professor Vine Deloria.
boats…land bridge…riding mammoths..I don’t really care how they got here. The point is they immigrated just like everyone else’s ancestors did. There are no native/indigenous people to this continent.
From genetic evidence, it would appear from what I’ve read that the only continent with truly native/indigenous people is Africa. All other areas of the world are populated by descendants of immigrants.
Correct Taz, except they immigrated anywhere from 20,000 to 35,000 years before everyone else.
Not that it is overly important, but that’s the case.
And there is some evidence that a early race of human-like primitive beings may have originated in North America.
And no, I was not making a joke about Republicans.
University of Colorado, “During the Last Glacial Maximum, about 21,000 years ago, global sea level was approximately 120 m (400 ft) lower than today. The Bering Land Bridge existed as a vast tundra plain connecting Asia and North America. As the world’s glaciers and ice sheets melted over the following millenia, rising sea level flooded the land bridge — blocking migration routes for animals and humans.”
University of Montana: “Exposure of the Bering Sea Land Bridge is significant for several reasons. Many archaeologists and anthropologists believe that the Americas were populated by people who migrated across the land bridge. In addition, many land animals may have been able to migrate through Beringia, including mammoths, muskox, and lemmings.”
National Geographic: “The long-gone land bridge between Asia and Alaska—a route possibly followed by the first humans to reach the Americas—flooded about 12,000 years ago, a new study suggests.”
You weren’t making a joke about Republicans? I figured that out right away…when it said “human-like”!!! (ok, trying to be funny here…will quit now…)
So sometime in the last 21,000 years there was global warming that melted all that ice.
Did man cause global warming THAT time?
The Bering Strait theory is a somewhat accepted idea, but there is no archaeological evidence to support the claim.
Try Deloria’s book – it is quite interesting and eye-opening.
And he isn’t a quack.
Or wasn’t – he’s gone on now.
I understand that the current state of Israel was origingally to be called something else, maybe Zion, but in a stroke of genius the zionist leader decided to call it Israel. Guess that was because they would have the biblical claim directly associated with the new state, and of course the backing of the fundies.
If Canada launched mortar rounds into populated regions of the USA, you don’t think for a minute, that we would not respond?
Complete your analogy: You would be blockading and slowly starving a nation of 31 million people. We’re not talking about war materials either–we’re talking about food, medicine, etc.
Rage — isnt it egypt thats blocking the border??
IF Canada did that to us, we would most likely make them stop by prohibiting them from importing Zamboni machines for their hockey rinks (sarcasm)
Looks like the jews mainly used terrorism to drive out the pals.:
[edit] First stage of the flight, December 1947 – March 1948
In the first few months of the civil war the climate in the Mandate of Palestine became volatile. Although throughout this period both Arab and Jewish leaders tried to limit hostilities between Jews and Arabs[3]. According to historian Benny Morris, the period was marked by Arab initiatives and Jewish reprisals[4]. On the other hand, Flapan points out a pattern in which terrorist attacks by Irgun and Lehi resulted in Arab retaliations and then ‘the Haganah – while always condemning the actions of Irgun and Lehi – joined in with an inflaming counterretaliation’[5]. Typically the Jewish reprisals were directed against villages and neighborhoods from which attacks against Jews had originated[6], were more damaging than the provoking attack and included killing of armed and unarmed men, destruction of houses and sometimes expulsion of inhabitants[7]. The Zionist groups of Irgun and Lehi reverted to their 1937-1939 strategy of placing bombs in crowded places such as bus stops, shopping centres and markets. Their attacks on British forces reduced British troops’ ability and willingness to protect Jewish traffic[8]. General conditions deteriorated: the economic situation became unstable and unemployment grew[9]. Rumours spread that the Husaynis were planning to bring in bands of fallahin to take over the towns[10]. Some Palestinian Arab leaders send their families abroad. The Arab Liberation Army embarked on a systematic evacuation of non-combatants from several frontier villages in order to turn them into military strongholds [11]. Arab depopulation occurred most in villages close to Jewish settlements and in vulnerable neighborhoods in Haifa, Jaffa and West-Jerusalem[12]. The poor inhabitants of these neighborhoods generally fled to other parts of the city. Many rich inhabitants fled further away, most of them expecting to return when the troubles were over[13]. By the end of March 1948 thirty villages were depopulated[14] and around 100,000 Palestinian Arabs had fled to Arab parts of Palestine, such as Nazareth, Nablus and Bethlehem or had left the country altogether[15] to Transjordan or Egypt. Other sources speak of 30,000 Palestinian Arabs[16]. Many of these were Palestinian Arab leaders, middle and upper-class Palestinian Arab families from urban areas. Around 22 March the Arab governments agreed that their consulates in Palestine would only issues visas to old people, women and children and the sick [17].
Credit: above lifted from Wilki.
Chas/AmericanWay: What you are suggesting did happen, sort of. Some years ago the Royal Canadian Navy was installing new weapon guidance systems, with the aide of the US supplier, when somehow a few missiles were fired, landing Washington State. Heck, I always blamed the higher costs of Zambonies on our declining dollar, never thinking of retaliaton at all!

Max’s logic(sic) seems to be that if nature caused something in the distant past, humans cannot cause it now.
Let me try. Nature caused plants to be watered before humans were on Earth, so that proves that humans cannot cause plants to be watered today.
Hey! I can think(sic) just like an AGW denier. Maybe a right-wing think(sic) tank, or fossil-fuel company will pay me?
MAX — Was Hillary on some committee that would have given her access to the NIE, 2002??
We’ve been over and over and over the war vote. What is there that you are missing?? Let’s try this: IF you got a coupon from United Air Lines that said you could get a R/T flight to London, for $25…. And you decided it looked right, and good, you would most likely accept it —
THEN later, you find out it was a mis-print, or a hoax, and that it was REALLY $2500 — Would you still accept it?? Probably NOT!
With the information FIRST PRESENTED, nearly ALL of Congress (both houses) voted for the WAR!! They believed the information was TRUE!!
LATER, they found out it wasnt TRUE… THEN many of them were against it… NOT just Hillary!!
The REAL SHAME here is not that some of them changed their minds… It’s all of those wack jobs that call them traitors, or worse, because they changed their minds, based on NEW and ACCURATE intelligence!!
The SHAME of calling people Anti-American because they dissented from the President’s views is what this is really all about!! NOT that people changed their minds!!
After all, dissent is at the heart of our system of government!! At the VERY heart of it!!
Rage: Canada is a big exporter foods with plenty of fresh water, drug, petrochemical, manufacturing, research, and energy (lots and lots of which goes south)in a land mass so huge it would be impossible to blockade in the true sense of the word. Besides Canada is the biggest customer for 38 of the 50 States! Kinda like the rationing I remember during WW2 might happen I guess, so miltiary obliteration yes, but starvation, no. Utimatley we would probaly find that the instructions for firing the US bought weaponry were written in English only, thus making it difficult for 35% of the armed forces to fully digest and once the translation to French was completed I’m sure the crisis would be over.
And furthermore, Max, it would be real nice if you knocked off with the useless CRAP that ANYbody has promoted “surrender” in Iraq… That is simply right wing radio garbage — Not ONE person in the House or the Senate has EVER promoted the surrender of our troops… Pardon me, excuse me, but withdrawal, and re-deployment is NOT surrender… Please look up the definition of surrender!!
Thank you!
TOO funny NN!! LOL

Funny Chas.
Maybe you’d like to call it “Attacking in a different direction.”

I’ve never heard anyone make that claim.
Oh I’m sure the Global Warming that happened 12,000 years ago Cosmos was natural.
I’m sure the Global Warming that happened in the early 1900’s (when the Northwest Passage was open!) was completely natural.
I’m not sure about the Global Warming of the early 2000’s being man-made.

Ron Paul endorsed by Jane Roe, yes, THAT Roe
What a coincidence!
On the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s historic Roe vs. Wade abortion ruling, the Roe of that landmark legal case endorsed libertarian turned Republican Rep. Ron Paul for president. Paul, a 10-term Texas congressman from the Houston area, is a 72-year-old Air Force veteran and ob-gyn who has surprised many political observers with the fervor of his bands of followers, not to mention his campaign’s fundraising prowess that has outshined other Republican so-called front-runners.

Surrender is what FDR did in the Philliphines in 1942 when he abandoned US troops and civilians there.
Anyone hear about the Bataan death march?
Great you get an “A” in history — Now what does surrender have to do with withdrawal or re-deployment in Iraq that you keep flaming about??
OMG, when they’re not whining about some imagined socialism, they’re digging up FDR and whining about him. Lost in the past much?
Maybe you guys can dig up Ike again and THIS time listen to him about the MIC. No wonder they love thompson. Back to the future?
A few Bataan stories:

Max, you constantly rant and rave about how you think somebody wants to SURRENDER in Iraq… DEFINE SURRENDER… and then show even ONE quote from anybody who wants to SURRENDER??
Otherwise, stop ranting about SURRENDER!!
Bataan is OLD NEWS… We arent fighting Japan anymore… we won that one!!
I now about Bataan… my mother lost a Cousin in the death march…
Chas you wanted a definition of surrender.
I gave it to you.
Withdrawal or Redeployment before destroying your enemy is surrender.
What if we had given up at Iwo Jima and withdrawn or redeployed after 30 days of horrendous battle and 6,000 Marines killed?
That’s surrender.
And that’s calling for the Enola Gay to be shot down en route to Hiroshima.
Show me one Democrat other then Lieberman who has said he wants Victory in Iraq?
MAX withdrawal and re-deployment is NOT surrender… You need a dictionary man…
And I have never heard of anybody who wanted the Enola Gay shot down either!! LOL
Come on Max take your Alzheimers pills… This is the 21st Century now… WW II has been over for 63 years now… Jump into the present tense… NOBODY is talking surrender in Iraq, except for YOU, Rush, Hannity, Beck, and Medved…. maybe O’Reilly… And Savage, and Mark Levin… Day after day after day of Surrender LIES…. Oh, and Liebermann is an independent, I think…
And I have never heard of anybody who wanted the Enola Gay shot down either!! LOL
———————————————-
That’s why we didn’t redeploy, withdraw, or surrender at Iwo Jima.
MAX — DEFINE SURRENDER, you crazy wing nut!

Yeah, Reg, I noticed that. Some people let their paranoia show a lot–when they go overboard worrying about who is posting, especially when they have nothing intelligent to say. The tactic seems to be, if they can claim someone uses more than one nic (with no proof, evidence or any suggestion of fact) then they (specifically WS) don’t have to respond with reason.
WS, especially, retreats to personal insults, claims of “trolls” and the like instead of trying to respond to reason. A difference of opinion does not automatically make one “wrong” and one “right”..it is a simple difference of opinion. One that WS obviously cannot handle. Maybe that is why he wrote a few months ago how he was leaving this blog and never coming back. So much for his honesty.

“I’m not sure about the Global Warming of the early 2000’s being man-made.
You people still:
1. Avoid discussing Water Vapour, which is 95% of all greenhouse gases.”
Max, you’re confused, relying on inaccurate sources, or lying.
Global warming has been occuring since the mid-1970’s.
Water vapour is less than than 95% of the radiative forcing. And it’s a feedback.
I’ve “bolded” water vapour, since you seem to have a reading problem.
http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/ar4-wg1.htm
Chapter 2,
“Water vapour is the most abundant and important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. However, human activities have only a small direct influence on the amount of atmospheric water vapour. Indirectly, humans have the potential to affect water vapour substantially by changing climate. For example, a warmer atmosphere contains more water vapour.”
More in chapter 8, section 6.
“2. Do not focus on solutions beyond swapping money from America to the rest of the world.”
False — and economic policies do not refute scientific methodology.
“3. Do not exhibit personal actions which I would expect to see from people proclaiming the world will end as we know it in 10 years.”
The “10 years” is a “tipping point”, where positive natural feedbacks amplify human-caused warming.
Individual “personal actions”, while admirable, are insufficient. Global action is required.

Max — still waiting for your definition of Surrender… I posted the one from Wiki…. What you got???
Max?
BUSH’S (god how I hate captializing that name) definition of victory in Iraq..
I think the 6th version…
“A free and democratic Iraq capable of defending itself and being an ally in the war on terror.”
Now bush lied to us about how long that would take. Maybe you’d like to give us YOUR guess and see who’ll sign on to wait with you for it.
bush didn’t fail. It was his INTENTION to have a permanent military garrison in Iraq. And if any of the Republican nominees is elected, he will get his wish.
Is that…your wish too?

Hey Troll monitors…deal with your own before you falsely accuse others, ok? RD posted a baby crying at 11:21 last night–using my nic to post it. Sorry, RD, but I was sound asleep at that time..some of us responsible adults have to get up in the morning to go to work.
========================
RD already told you once she didnt do it, Taz… remember??
Now your troll buddy comes along pointing a finger at somebody else!!
Whoever is doing it, it should send a message about the sheer stupidity of nic stealing, etc.
“A free and democratic Iraq capable of defending itself and being an ally in the war on terror.”
And the Iraqis say that it will be AT LEAST ten more years……………..
Let’s see – $200 (low estimate) billion per years – ten years = $2 trillion, on top of the $1 trillion already spent = let see carry the ………..
$3 trillion!
To get rid of a two bit dictator that couldn’t even defeat Iran in ten years WITH WMD and US support.
Jeez, wonder why Bush is called………..
the Worst President Ever?
Correct, J R………………
“A free and democratic Iraq capable of defending itself and being an ally in the war on terror.”
Well, the Iraqis say that it will be at least TEN more years. How will that work out…………
So far, it has cost us $1 trillion.
Ten more years at a low estimate of $200 billion per years would equal……….. carry the six…… divide by the GDP………. subtract….. years left on Bush Administration…
$2 trillion!!!!!
For a grand total of $3 trillion, all borrowed from the Chinese!!!!!
And you wonder why folks call Bush……..
Worst President Ever.
Yeah?
Anyone else get a robo-call from Michelle Obama? Kansas may make a difference this year.
not yet Steven — maybe another nite
Hey guys. I looked up how much a Billion is. Why?? The State of Kansas is building a 3.6 Billion Dollar Wind Park in Wichita Kansas. Ok??? This is 3600 Million. There are 10 $100,000.oo’s in a Million. There are 1000 millions in a Billion. This is 3600 Million. 3600 Million for wind. $3.6 Billion for a “Blow Park”. In Kansas???? the state has $750,000,000.oo in surplus. They said in 2 years it will be in defeciet. Where is the 3600 Million coming from for a Blow Park??? How much wind are they blowing up our skirts????? Herb West III Publisher/Journalist. west.herb@yahoo.com
Cheaper than coal or another nuke plant, Herb!! No pollution Herb… CHEAP energy source, Herb!!
Wind doesnt tap into water resources either, Herb!! What more could be hope for??
Oh yea, REAL low overhead costs too Herb!!
$$$3600 Million Dollars, is low overhead. Send me some low overhead!!!!!! I could use $3600 Million is chump change!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Herb West III west.herb@yahoo.com
Renewable resource herb.
Instead of posting here, you should go stand in front of the turbines and rant. Get Max to join you and we’ll need no other wind at all!

$3600 Million as you say is not over head… That is capital investment… Overhead is what it takes to RUN the turbines once they are built… At that price, that must be one HUGE wind farm!! Should produce a LOT of power for the Wichita area… And CLEAN energy…. And entirely reproducable!!

So what we learn here on the WE Blog is Democratic Party Line – Leftist Liberal -Progressive – Spew?
Is that about it?
Lotsa debate about how terrible it was to require a photo ID to vote. No stats were provided as to how many Americas lack at least 1 photo ID.
Now there are some stats.
In Indiana, 34 out 165,000 voters did not have a photo ID. That is 0.02%. That is 2/10,000th!
In Indiana, 2 voters out of every 10,000 voters did NOT have a photo ID.
OK taxpayers, let’s foot the bill to pay for 20,000 photo ID’s for the 0.02% of 100 Million voters that don’t have a photo ID.
Assuming $2 per ID, that would be $40,000 to help ensure America eliminates some cheating voters out there!

What’s Wrong With Photo Identification?
Yes.
A lot better than your crap!!
Some time ago, there was much debate about whether a photo ID should be required for voting. One fact was missing. How many voters do not have a photo ID?
Now we know.
In Indiana, 34 voters out of 165,000 did NOT have a photo ID. That is 0.02% of voters. That is 1 out of every 4,852 voters did not have a photo ID.
I say we spend $5 in taxpayer money to buy 0.02% of voters in America a photo ID to help ensure there is no cheating in the voting process.
Out of 100 million voters, there would be around 20,000 people in America who did not have a photo ID. That would cost taxpayers a whopping $100,000 to get them all a free ID.
Problem solved.

Taz can say this–“I don’t understand the tactics, tho….to personally insult and attack someone because you disagree with their opinion is incredibly childish” after saying this–You are really off base, you arrogant punk. Stick it where the sun don’t shine” without even understanding what he say completely contradicts what he does.
Just like he ridicules others for complaining about “trolls” until it happens to him.
Then he’s the biggest cry-baby on The WEBlog.

There, I fixed it for you to be more politically correct.
What up?
Why not use Fingerprint ID… Everybody has fingerprints… Fingerprint everybody on registration. Electronically match fingerprints at time of voting… There actually are a number of citizens who object to having their picture taken… Fingerprints eliminate all of that stuff entirely…
I know Max, hard to believe, but there really are a number of people who dont believe in having their picture taken…
Max…
Have you learned about water vapour yet?
http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2008/01/open-thread-123-2/#comment-280652
I have no problem showing my photo ID – no big deal – but there needs to be a reasonable alternative for people that do not have or cannot afford an ID.
And Max, a State issued photo ID in Kansas is $18.00 and you have to have two pieces of verifiable ID to get it.
Some of those verifiable ID’s also cost money to get – copies of birth certificates, etc.
$5.00 certainly wouldn’t cover it.
The real issue is that the problem of individual voter fraud is greatly overblown – illegals, for example, have no real motivation to expose themselves to the possibility of detection.
We should be more worried about governmental voting fraud from folks like Ken Blackwell and Katherine Harris………..
Yeah Cosmos, Water Vapour is 95% of all greenhouse gases.

Max,
Gosh Max, you are so smart! You’d probably argue that a tiny amount of Ebola virus could do nothing to a human, since it was a tiny, insignificant percentage. /sarcasm OFF .
Different viruses have different effects on humans.
Different GHG’s have different global warming potentials (GWP’s).
Water vapour only causes (depending on various overlaps) between 36% and 66% of the greenhouse effect.
Max, you paid for this site with your taxes. You should read it… unless you wish to continue to be ignorant about AGW.

ONLY? :D
Between 36% and 66%
– Wow, that must be facts from peer reviewed science with a thirty percent wiggle added to it.
Of course, then there is wind, Southern Oscillations like El Ninjo, La Ninja, tectonics, the sun, cosmic rays, axis shifts, polar shifts, etc. etc. that affect the environment and climate change – those must be tiny percentages right? :D
For some laughs, read JimmyMac’s long, rambling, and very stupid CO2 data post at 12:01 pm on this thread, after reading Ben’s smackdown on JimmyMac’s source.

(Note my post, 2 posts earlier)
Wow cosmos, dragging posts from almost a year ago.
Too bad the only people mentioning Beck on that thread was you and Ben. I didn’t bring it up.
Of course, cosmos has admitted that computer climate models are not accurate and the climate is just too complex to make accurate predictions.
You know, cosmos bases all of his gloom and doom on these climate models that are not accurate or cannot predict a complex climate.
Then cosmos fails to mention, if we stopped 100 percent of man made co2 output, there would be no noticeable change to the climate, clear up to the year 2100.
‘Hissink, CO2 and conspiracy theories’
http://timlambert.org/2005/01/hissink3/
cosmos does not understand that linking to a blog is not peer reviewed science, it is opinion – not scientific fact.
cosmos constantly posts false, misleading information from opinion blogs. cosmos is not a scientist.

You got a deal, Max.
Force all voters to show photo ID.
In return, all electronic machines have a paper trail and submit to random independent verification.
————————————————–
YES! AGREE 100%!
In return, all electronic machines have a paper trail and submit to random independent verification.
Still not good enough. The Diebold source code is protected by law. It is all too easy to write malicious that would go undetected during testing both before and after the election. The paper trail could just as easily be manipulated. The larger problem is when the memory cards are fed into the counting machine. That data can be manipulated as well. The only true way, IMHO, is to allow the source code to be audited. Why would ANYONE try to get a some scripting language code protected by law so that it may never be audited? Smells pretty damn fishy to me.
Heck, I don’t see what’s wrong with the paper ballots.
Must be cheaper and more accurate.
Assuming people can fill in a little circle with a pen or pencil.
The old lever action machines were sorta fun. What was the problem with them?
Probably too cheap, too low-tech, and too darn accurate.
Since 1980 politicians have been looking for a cheaper way to buy elections. Paying off the staff got to be too expensive. Along came Diebold. Problem solved. They had proof of concept in 2000 and proved recreation in 2004.
