Barack Obama recently was endorsed by some Senate Democratic colleagues — including John Kerry of Massachusetts, Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Ben Nelson of Nebraska — leaving some to wonder why they prefer him to Hillary Clinton. In a meeting with the Kansas City Star’s editorial board, Kansas Republican Sen. Sam Brownback offered an explanation: that Obama is talented and “easier to work with†than Clinton. The Star’s Steve Kraske reported: “Hillary Clinton has been in the fight so long that ‘there’s a hardness’ there, Brownback said. Given her national stature, Clinton’s tougher to get in touch with. Obama, he added, ‘wouldn’t unite Republicans as much’ as Clinton.â€

In other words, the republicans think they can bowl one over on Obama.
This is exactly why I want Hillary over Obama.
I don’t want the republicans to have the ability to play their dirty tricks.
Dirty tricks abound in Washington, period. Either left or right, all of them will tell you what you want to hear then do the opposite and all have something dark to hide. You don’t get to those positions of “power” unless they “have something on you”. But Brownback trying to explain anything is a funny one.
I don’t think people really want change at all. Everyday, I get more and more frustrated with my countrymen and women.

Mom, believe me when I say that since my journey started in a simple search for something to re-affirm my conviction of support in the invasion of Iraq. The world has seemed to be turned upside down. Quite a bit of what I thought I knew, turned out to be wrong. Believing that President G.W. Bush was the right President at the right time. To President Bill Clinton was a terrible President who used an attack on an aspirin factory to “wage the dog” to distracted us from his sexual escapades.
But I am firmly convinced that Hillary is a Neoconservative, having the same ideas and goals of those like Cheney. I hope I am wrong as she does have a real chance of getting the Democratic nomination. I know that Giuliani is and Mc Cain has a loose association with them. I have not find anything or heard anything from the other DNC candidates that leads to a suspicion that they are.
But of all the Candidates Hillary and Rudy are the ones I see as being the worst choices for this country.
Not to leave Mitt out, he is a joke to me, purely a Hollywood casting call for President. He seems so scripted and worst yet has been caught in so many silly untruths it is embarrassing to see. They will go down in history along side with “ I invented the internet!”.
Politics is about money and power. You can’t get elected without money. Taking contributions gives the contributors power.
It’s time that average Americans stood up and let canadates and elected representatives hear from us individually. We can do this by calling their offices, sending them faxes, sending them letters etc. One contact will not get their attention, only perseverance will work. Writing letters to the editor can be effective as well. Brownback has six offices and when you call and fax each one you will get a response. (Even if it is a form letter at taxpayer expense)
We must watch what they do, and let them know in detail what we think of their positions and votes, which equal their performance. We can search on the Internet for agendas and bills. Letting them know prior to a vote is key to credibility. Let them know you are aware of and are watching their actions. We must find a way to make them aware OUR VOTE depends on whether they represent us. It takes a lot of work, much effort and in the end; this is the only way we can be heard.
.
I don’t know why we care about Brownback’s opinion, but he actually seems to be on the money. I’m going back and forth between the 3 candidates, it’s actually starting to annoy me that I can’t make a decision. But what I really like about Obama is I truly think he will effect change, and he will be able to break down the barriers and work to improve our country, getting past the petty squabbling. I’m so tired of the squabbling. I truly believe that Bush is the worst president ever, and have a lot of anger for the people that voted for him not once, but twice. However, that anger gets our country nowhere, and with it circling the drain as it is, we have NO TIME to bicker, WE HAVE TO GET ON THE BALL, WORK TOGETHER, AND GET THIS COUNTRY BACK ON TRACK!!
Sorry, off my soap box now.
I prefer no democrat for President. If push comes to shove I would take Obama. However I will not be voting for either one. No Hillary care.
TWO anti Clinton threads today?
Damn, jill musta really put the spell on the WE editors.
Well good thing your opinion doesn’t matter George.
Americans are done with the corruption of your favored ones.
It’s refreshing to see WE THE PEOPLE riled up, even if it’s a tiny number of us. Apathy has gotten us to where we are. Those who were motivated (the one-issue voters) helped elect bushco and he has taken our entire country down the tubes.
TDT, I’m just like you — back and forth between THREE GOOD candidates. But isn’t that a better position than back and forth between POOR candidates?
It’s really hard to find any redeeming quality in the current idiot in charge. But he has managed to get more of WE THE PEOPLE riled up and motivated. Isn’t it ironic that rove wanted bushco to be the beginning of a long-lasting Republican dominance and the reality is they have proven to be extraordinary ambassadors for the Democratic Party! Makes me believe in karma!
Sadly, the cost of years of bushco has been very high to all Americans. I’m excited and anxious to get on with the healing that WILL begin next January 20th! ALL of the Democratic candidates offer us that hope.
No Democrat wants to end these American-economy killing wars let alone the Bushco’s. Ron Paul is the Obi-Wan of America, he is our only hope. Now, there are a lot of folks who see his solutions as “kooky” but they are the only solutions that are indeed, solutions. What the others tout as solutions are nothing more than the same of the last 20 years. Ol’ Barbara Bush calls Bill Clinton a “son” and I believe her.
The Clinton’s and the Bush’s go waaay back, all the way to Iran/Contra, baby.

I’m not sure who I prefer yet, but I’d like to see someone who is more interested in uniting the country and working on the real problems like the war, the economy, and health care. I’m also sick and tired of the squabbling and finger pointing…let’s move on and start problem solving. The Bushes and Clintons have run things for the last 20 years and I’d like to see some different faces in Washington, not more of what we’ve already had.
““Hillary Clinton has been in the fight so long that ‘there’s a hardness’ there, Brownback said. Given her national stature, Clinton’s tougher to get in touch with.”
That is EXACTLY what I want in a candidate going up against the troglodyte cons.
VOTE RON PAUL!!!!!! Go look and see what he stands for, you may be surprised. I will let his site do the talking!!!!!
Ron Paul is not electable…why waste the vote? It’s like voting for Ralph Nader or Ross Peroe.
I’m leaning more towards Obama all the time.
Why isn’t he “electable” Mary? That’s the kind of defeatist attitude that got us to where we are now. We have a chance right now, to show these scoundrels that WE The People are the government and we decide, not the media who will represent us. He has out raised any republican and is on par with the “top tier” dems. We need to stand up and take our country back…or not and let it die.
Who decides who is “electable” Rush Limbaugh? James Carville? Certainly not us lowly average Americans. Dr. Paul is raising his millions through small donations from small-time, real America. Not from lobbyists not from big corporations, not from unions. From concerned and aware Americans. And most of all, the majority of active service military.
Ron Paul is right on the occupation of Iraq.
And NOTHING else.
To me? He’s just as unelectable as Barack.
If we let them, Diebold will decide for us.
Let’s wait and see if he has been right toward the end of the year. That’s when these soon-to be-retired folks find out that their pensions aren’t as fat as they had been banking on.
All this talk about what Brokeback thinks? Who gives a rat’s patoot what he thinks about anything?
Again, just what we need, a Republican telling us what the Democrats should do.
Buzz off, buster.
–Steps off soapbox and gets on with day.
This reminds me of a parable that I was told. (This is for the God-fearing folks):
The story of the man stranded in the middle of the ocean. He is praying for help and along comes a ship, he declines the ride, saying he’s waiting for God to help. Another ship, another decline. Yet another ship and he declines. the man finally drowns and arrives in Heaven. He asks God why he didn’t help and God replies, “I sent 3 different ships and you declined the help”.
Same goes for Ron Paul.
I thought of another redeeming quality of bushco. We recognize “spin” for what it is. He and his sent us to school and we were apt students!
Ron Paul has the worst ideas for America, and if he had his way…we’d live like Mexicans.
You must have government and oversight. We used to live the way Ron Paul envisioned, and I can do without children dying in forced labor and orphan trains.
“But mama, I’m big now, I can take care of myself. You don’t have to walk me to school anymore”.
You’ve never lived like he envisions, free. Sorry, but I’d like to try it once.
Sam is a good guy, but he needs to tell his friend, McCain, who the real President of Germany is.
McCain thinks its Putin:

By all means then Pleef, move on out to Mexico. Let me know how that turns out.
Don’t ruin our country first then say ‘oops, my bad’.
Brownback is right with his analysis. Republicans are split in several directions right now, and the only person who can really unify us is Hillary Clinton. It is true that Obama is inexperienced, and maybe if nominated he’ll make some costly mistakes. But for now, I’d much rather run against Hillary, a known polarizer who will energize Republicans at all levels.
“Don’t ruin our country first then say ‘oops, my bad’.”
Yeah…we don’t need another Bush.
Obama isn’t into polarizing and has a fresh vision….I hope America is ready for REAL change, not just different spin from the same faces.
No one running could be worse than what we’ve had the last 7 years..no one.
