I’m a Republican (although this election cycle I am probrably going to vote straight Democratic, I am now a Republican pretty much in name only, but that wasn’t always the case, and I strongly feel that the party left me, not the other way around). I can think of several, even in public office, that I don’t see having much of a hatchet to bury. True, the leadership of the Republican party has been quite partisan and nasty, but so what? Paybacks aren’t hell, they are stupid, particularly in light of the current mood of the country. It’s one thing to be tough and not to compromise on important issues, it is quite another to be vengeful. Vengeful now we are in charge thinking would cost the Democrats dearly. Indeed, it cost them dearly during the first two years of the Clinton Administration, which is why they took a very different tack for the last 6 years of the administration (btw, the vengefulness came more from the young Democrats who had been frustrated by Republican dominance of the White House than, I think, from the top).

Yes you can. You can be tough and respectful simultaneously. When you are, being spiteful costs your opponent. A big part of Rove’s genius was poking the Democrats until they reacted, then pointing at them and saying “see how they are”. There is a real weariness, among a number of Republicans are weary of the partisan crap. It is certainly true that the Republicans and this administration are responsible for the sheer nastiness of the partisan divide that we have now. Political success is going to go to those who appear to rise above it.

I am not advocating that. What I am saying is that if the Democratic party took your advice of demanding their pound of flesh from the Republicans when they take charge, it would hurt them badly, and in the short term future.

Here is what I strongly believe is the reality JR. There are more obsessive compulsive political voters on the right than on the left. That means that they already have an advantage in elections where voter contentment is pretty high. It also means that the Republicans have an advantage in acting badly. It won’t hurt them as quickly as it will Democrats.

The problem with Hillary is that the right has so demonized her that the meme that she’s the socialist queen will bring out the wingnuts in droves. The hatred for this woman is positively irrational, and she will drive up Republican turnout just as surely as an inspiring Republican candidate would.

That being said, I think Hillary has shown plenty of ability to compromise (as is typical of effective senators). She’s actually had a pretty pragmatic record in the Senate (and in fact, that had been used against her in the primary).

After years and years of extreme partisanship on the part of the Right, I have to admit that I am looking forward to some serious payback from the Left against the right wingers. After the antics of Bob Barr, Tom DeLay, Henry Hyde, Dan Burton, Trent Lott, Bill Frist, Denny Hassert, etc, I want a Democratic Congress and President to extract some damned serious revenge.

I believe that Barack Obama can deliver that revenge with a smile, but I will vote for any Democrat that can deliver a swift kick to the nuts of the GOP.

For years, the Republicans have demonized liberals, progressives and Democrats as being traitors, un-American and unworthy of being citizens of this country.

Now, I want payback. I want to kick some GOP ass.

And I want an apology for impeachment.

I was brought into court under a civil lawsuit.

The “child” involved, turned 18 PRIOR to my hearing, but was not allowed to testify. She instead wrote a letter stating that I told her to “get out of the street”!

By the way, I WON my case.

The United States Supreme Court said that George Tiller and Judge Kelly had NO right to pull me into court, in the first place.

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, in Denver, said that I deserved a NEW trial.

Abortionist George Tiller’s attorney wrote a motion, to the Court, stating clearly that I had committed NO crime and no charges were pending against me.

I got a new hearing, but did not have to appear.

The new Judge dismissed the Civil (not criminal) case against me.

Many people seem to miss the difference between her verklempt moment and oft-cited examples of others who have choked up on camera. It is one thing to well up with emotion for something or someone one loves or finds beautiful, courageous or otherwise of great virtue. It is entirely different when one chokes up with self-pity and frustration with the self-perception of being unjustly denied something.

George Tiller filed a lawsuit against Operation Rescue, an organization that I have never belonged to.
Judge Kelly agreed to order an injunction, against Operation Rescue.
The US Marshals were convinced, by some political activists and by Judge Kelly, to pick ME up, under that injunction.

I was NOT subject to that injunction. I had made it clear, to local police, to the Marshals, and to the “other side” of the abortion debate that I had no intention of being arrested by the Wichita Police in that matter, and was not covered by Kelly’s order.

(Important, because Kelly’s order specifically mentioned anyone who had been previously arrested, or anyone arrested in the future, for trespassing or blocking access to an abortion clinic, was covered by his order.)

I was NEVER arrested by Wichita Police.
I was NEVER named in Kelly’s Order.
I was NOT subject to Kelly’s Order.

However, even if I had been subject to Kelly’s order, I did nothing to violate that order.

1.) Kill my appeal. The argument was, if he suffers no loss, he has no grounds for appeal.
2.) Mitigate damages if I filed a counter suit.

I withdraw the charge until I can post proof.

I believe that Raj Goyle, the candidate who beat my friend, Bonnie Huy, is of a minority religious belief. He lists no religion at all in his biography, as is his right. However, he most surely does have some Hindu roots, as Hindu oriented organizations have offered him great, national support.

Never once did I, or anyone else, attack Raj Goyle on his faith, though I was very committed to his opponent.
