Why Brownback backs McCain

Brownbackmccain “This guy’s a legitimate war hero, the most qualified person to be president. He’s ideologically acceptable; he’s electable. And I think those are the two doors our candidate has to get through.” — Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., who is urging primary voters in Iowa and New Hampshire to give Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., another look

Brownback says of McCain: “This guy’s a legitimate war hero, the most qualified person to be President. He’s ideologically acceptable and he’s electable.”

Now to the question of why Brownback supports McCain?

I suspect that since Brownback himself exhibits NONE of those qualities, he see’s himself as a possible balance to a McCain and Brownback ticket.

    LOL @ Brownback.

‘What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive…”

Except, Sam, the titular head of the GOP, Augustus Stupidus, supported (and perhaps instigated via his proxy, Karl Rove) a “whisper campaign” in 2000 throughout Dixie that McCain is “damaged goods” and thus unfit for the office of POTUS. According to the whispered comments, McCain is damaged precisely due to his war experience as a POW.

How can you guys bear the appearance of your stated support for candidate McCain when president B, from the same party (your party), has gone to great and vile lengths to slime him? [In fact, this attempt to slime McCain was actually the beta version of sliming Max Cleland in 2002 and was perfected in the Swift Boating 1.0 of Kerry in 2004.]

ANS: You must first disavow all manifestations of president B’s Swift Boating…or suffer ridicule.

It’s not possible to select for political expediency your “war heroes” then and retain your honor now, sir. If you wish to retain your honor, then you must have disavowed the serial slimings of Vietnam War veterans by Augustus Stupidus, or admit them now and apologize.

I didn’t see any disavowal before, and neither do I see any such apology now, hence…LOL
