If you’re going to make grandstanding on illegal immigrants a key part of your presidential campaign, you need to make sure they stay off your lawn: Two workers seen regularly raking leaves or otherwise tidying up around Mitt Romney’s house over the past two months told the Boston Globe they were undocumented residents. Romney fired the lawn service Tuesday, saying the “company’s failure to comply with the law is disappointing and inexcusable.â€
Said GOP rival John McCain: “I’m more than pleased with the fact that I live in a condominium.â€

Why doesn’t Romney do his own damn lawn like the rest of us have to do? Doesn’t he have teenagers at home? I guess he thinks that he can be lazy and hire the Mexicans to do it. Well now it has caught up with him.
Gardener-gate would seem to take some of the wind out of Romney’s sails on immigration, or at least make him appear somewhat hypocritical. He has to appear tough on immigration to satisfy the base, yet he has illegals working at his own home.
” Romney had continued to employ Community Lawn Service with a Heart to mow his lawn and rake his leaves, one year after the newspaper reported that the company was using illegal immigrants for work on his grounds.”http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/12/06/reaction_mixed_after_romney_fires_service/
Romney can hardly claim that he didn’t know about it.
This is lots of fun. I love seeing rats tear each other apart.
Thoe millionaire Repubs. want the bottom dollar for their servants.
Need to check up on who’s cleaning McCains’ condo.
Maybe Wichita should look at its own problems?
I remember when the streets were being repaired last summer and I thought I was in Mexico.
There were so many “undocumented residents”(cough) around that some needed a translator to pay for a drink at the local Quick Trips.
Because I’m against ILLEGAL immigration, I’ll make sure every place I shop, every person I hire, every road crew I pass to stop and inspect their papers.
This is patently ridiculous. If you don’t like Romney don’t vote for him. If you are a religious bigot* be honest about it. Don’t however insist that he be omniscient. That Mr. Rudy had the unmitigated gall to even address this issue after turning New York into a sanctuary city is hypocrisy at it’s finest.
*(A bigot being someone who hates something without taking the time or making the effort to find out if their perceptions are correct or not, then proceeding to spew their misconceptions and outright lies to all and sundry, passing them off as FACTS)
Saenz told FOX25 in Boston that Romney did not demand that the company not employ illegal immigrants.
“They never asked me. I present my bid for the price and they say to me, ‘(Come) back,’ that’s it,” Saenz said, speculating that the presidential race drove the high-profile termination after 11 years of service.http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,315491,00.html
It took Romney 11 years to figure out what was going on? 11 years to figure out that it was politically radioactive?
Does this guy have judgment enough to be president?
Kev
Do you think Bill and Hillary have even touched a rake or a lawnmower in the last 10 years?
Has the Eagle EVER been delivered by an illegal alien?
Of course it has been.
What is the duty of the Eagle, to make sure that all contract laborers are here legally?
“There’s an illegal immigration problem in this country. I just can’t get them to properly remove the leaves from the gutters at my mansion.” -Mitt Romney
Romney did give a great speech, on Religion:

I agree Paul – at least the excerpts I heard.
Now he gets to deal with garden-gate.
