Over the past eight years, more than 160 dead people have donated more than $540,000 to political committees and congressional and presidential candidates, according to USA Today. That defies common sense. But it doesn’t break federal law, which considers such posthumous generosity fine as long as the deceased’s intentions were clear and the contribution limits are followed. Interestingly, $224,000 of this giving has gone to the Democratic National Committee, compared with only $93,000 to the Republican National Committee.

The dead vote, the dead contribute.
OK.
And we’re surprised that in both cases, it’s primarily Democrats who benefit?
Color me unsurprised. What better way to funnel money than through the dead?
Given Hillary!’s campaign finance history, this should surprise no one.
Uh, many people can set up memorials and direct estate givings to the political party of their choosing. It happens more often than you think. And the numbers follow the lines of people giving to political parties who are living…so there isn’t a discrepancy.
Even the org I belong to has such a set up, and yes, people contribute to it.
If you live your whole life at war with the Republican Party and their evil ideas, it only makes sense for you to leave something for the Democratic Party after you die if you so desire. Besides when you meet Jesus he will be glad you left something to fight evil in our time.
Rhonda is mastering the technique of her kind: mealy mouthedness.
I checked out campaign donors from my home town and discovered that a banker who’s been dead for 14 years is a big McCain contributor. Of course, it’s his widow signing the checks now.
Talk about a non-issue…
Is this true? More dead Demos give money to the party than do Repubs? So, does this mean that the Repubs have made a deal with the devil and found a way to take the money with them? Sure- it must.
I thought that the dead quit voting after the LBJ era.
reminds me of Chicago where they keep the pools open for 2 hours after sunset to facilitate the graveyard vote.
“”"reminds me of Chicago where they keep the pools open for 2 hours after sunset to facilitate the graveyard vote.”"”
I used to live in Chicago and the pools are all closed by election day. Swimming there in November would be quite cold.
Well the Democrats will have The People paying taxes after they die, why not allow campaign donations and voting after you die too?
Ultimate Absentee Ballots could be prepared in advance so you can vote after you die!
You don’t suppose that people like Norman Hsu go through the obituary pages and funnel dirty money to political campaigns in the name of the dead?
Tell me it isn’t so!
And Dead Democrats give twice as much as Dead Republicans?
Or the Democrats are so rich they can afford to donate money to campaigns from their estate and still have money left over for their widowed spouse and orphaned children?
“Or the Democrats are so rich they can afford to donate money to campaigns from their estate and still have money left over for their widowed spouse and orphaned children?”
Rich socialists? Hmmm….
