Oprah a huge coup for Obama

Oprah_obama_2
Oprah Winfrey showed Sunday why she might be Barack Obama’s secret weapon in the Democratic primaries. Her star power helped attract a huge crowd of more than 25,000 to a stadium in South Carolina, where the billionaire media mogul showed her talent for connecting with ordinary folks.
Oprah declared that Obama “speaks to the potential inside of every one of us” and asked people to embrace his “new vision” for America.
It was good TV. But how many people will Oprah convince to actually go out and vote? Surely enough to worry the Clinton campaign.
With Obama gaining momentum in polls, the race neck and neck, and the primaries just around the corner, Oprah’s appearances will put wind in his sails at a key moment.

Whether you like her or not, Oprah does have alot of power with people and she does connect to the common person.

But the biggest factor that I see is that Oprah talks directly to women of all colors, shapes and sizes. The women is what will determine this election this time around.

LOOKS LIKE OPRAH AND OBAMA SWITCHED PLACES, OPRAHS NOW RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT? AND OBAMA IS HER CAMPAIGNE FLUNKIE?Go Oprah! We ALL know if anyone can’t take the attention off of obama’s no experience lack of leadership, refusing to show up and vote in the senate on Iran, Abortion measures etc… Seeking a trillion-dollar tax hike and raising the retirement age for Social Security!!!! Is not in favor of a health care plan to cover all children rich or poor and that he cannot make a decision on his own. You can….YOU have disgraced American woman, now as a last ditch effort you throw Dr Kings name at the black voters, now American knows where you stand on race…

SHAMEFUL ACT…I SUGGEST WE ALL TUNE OUT BOTH!!!

WAKE UP AMERICA! Its time we stop playing with Oprah and elect a QUALIFIED PRESIDENT!!! not just a man because he’s black and oprah says so, she may know soap and books, but why in he world would anyone jeopardize your future because a TV talk show host said so?… This weekends Oprah circus, will not help obama, its make us all realize Oprahs running the show not obama…Our great country needs a qualified leader, maybe if oprah was legally running, but obama is…. Glad the dog and pony show is over

Hillary’s historic statement at the United Nations Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 that “women’s rights are human rights” still echoes worldwide. As a lawyer, advocate, First Lady, and senator, Hillary has fought for issues important to women here at home and around the world for decades. Today, despite the progress women have made, they earn only 77 cents for every dollar men earn — and women of color earn even less. Hillary is leading the charge in the Senate to strengthen equal pay laws and end pay disparities between men and women. She introduced the Paycheck Fairness Act to strengthen the penalties associated with wage discrimination, to ensure that the federal government sets a higher standard, and to increase oversight of employers. Hillary has also worked to increase access to capital and other support for women-owned businesses. When it comes to each woman’s ability to make the most personal of life decisions, Hillary has stood firm as an advocate for a woman’s right to choose. She has expanded access to family planning services, including for low-income women. She spoke out forcefully against the Supreme Court’s April 2007 decision that — for the first time in decades — failed to recognize the importance of women’s health.Hillary has worked to empower women throughout the world, especially low-income women. She has advocated for access to microfinance programs that enable women to start their own businesses and spoken out strongly against the tragic practice of sex trafficking. As president, Hillary will continue her lifelong fight to ensure that all Americans are treated with respect and dignity.
Hillary has fought the relentless and insidious efforts by far-right Republicans to limit the protections of Roe v Wade, while also working hard to expand access to family planning services.Hillary has seen what happens when governments try to control a woman’s reproductive health decisions. Whether it was Romania under a dictatorship saying you had to have children for the good of the state or China saying you had to have only one child for the good of the state, governments have dictated the most private and important decisions that we as individuals or families can make. She has championed the Prevention First Act, which expands access to family planning services for low-income women, requires health insurance companies to cover contraception, and provides a dedicated funding stream for age-appropriate, medically accurate, comprehensive sex education.
As First Lady, she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act and helped found the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancies, which established and achieved a goal of reducing teen pregnancies by one-third between 1996 and 2005.
In partnership with Senator Patty Murray, Hillary waged a successful three-year battle to get the Food and Drug Administration to accept the overwhelming recommendation of the medical community and make Plan B (the “morning after” pill) available over the counter.Hillary’s work to empower low-income women has changed lives. She fought for the elimination of school fees, which prevent poor children in some countries from attending school, and for investments in health care and education for women and girls. And she helped found Vital Voices, a not-for-profit organization that continues to work to support women’s leadership around the globe.

How about a pardon?’ ‘You murdered a guy and raped women but your minister says you’re a fine guy so I’m going to see that you get let out of prison.’

On the other hand Hillary is married to Bill and that makes her awful. Obama is half-black and his middle name is Hussein so that makes him awful. Edwards gets haircuts so we can’t vote for him. Bill Richardson is Hispanic so we can’t vote for him.

Funny how the Republicans whine about Democrats when any Democratic candidate is much better than any candidate, especially rapist loving Huckabee.

You lefties are getting a bit testy, aren’t you?

It is a factual point that I am making:

Hillary will not be able to attack Huckabee on the rape case issue.

1.) Bill’s own history would make Hillary unlikely to want to open up this topic, for general discussion.2.) Bill’s own history of giving out pardons also would make Hillary unlikely to jump on this issue.

I do not have to “prove” anything. The allegations are out there, the subject of many books and articles.

Bill Clinton can sue for slander or lible, but he does not.

Truth is an absolute defense against slander or libel.

Yes, for the average citizen, “proof, in a court of law, beyond a reasonable doubt” is the standard.

For a couple that wants to get back into the White House, after abusing that priveledge the first time around?

No! They must rise to a higher standard, and they can’t.—-By the way, Ben and others on this thread: You are attacking me now over my concern for Clintons’ past, however, not long ago, you were attacking me for questioning Morrison on similar issues.I was not trying to put Morrison in jail, I was trying to put his moral grandstanding in perspective.Yes, Morrison was grandstanding over “privacy” and other trumped up issues, while also, successfully, trashing Kline for even mentioning Morrison’s past harrassment issues.

Now, you libs are trying to bash Huckabee.Huckabee has not been accused of rape.Huckabee has never even been accused of mistreating women.Huckabee has only been attacked for going easy on a rapist. Said rapist also had the ear of Democrat Governor Jim Guy Tucker and the support of 7 Democrats on the parole board.

I did not ask for Clinton to be sent to jail.

However, I do think Bills past makes Hillary unlikely to trash Huckabee over this.

Proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and criminal conviction of a crime, are hardly necessary, in order for me to make that political point.
