Deaf Politicians who can hear seem to be in control. They seems to be understand eachother and cannot quite grasp a clue as too what we want and need as American Citizens. Down side?? We seem to live like we could care less. I find it cery rare that the average American really wants change or closure on Iraq or anything else. 99% of the people out there enjoy just rolling with the punches and they refuse to try to help eachother. I have dedicated my life for years to trying to show corruption in America. I have yet too see anyone who wants to stop the corruption. 3889 dead soldiers and counting because we are lazy. We dont feel we can or should help them and theirs. That is sad!!! I hope people come around and stop rilling with the punches. I wish for people too work at helping eachother. Voting helps, but getting and staying involved is the best shot we got. Get involved. Hebrert West III, Publisher/Journalist west.herb@yahoo.com

Wichita school board members want more information about how they would pay for proposed building improvements, including the construction of several new schools, athletic stadiums and fine arts facilities.http://www.kansas.com/news/updates/story/258926.html

What wonderful timing! Just about the time the 1-cent sales tax for the arena is scheduled to end. Where, oh where can the school board find some extra money?

They could ask the turnpike authority for it. Has not the turnpike been paid off years ago?
Or was the decision made to use that money to fix the ailing State colleges? I don’t know I spent my lunch money on milk because I spent Milk money on comic books. Because I spent my comic book money on this nifty hat!

“Destruction of CIA tapes may have violated a court order

A federal judge will investigate whether the action defied his instructions to the federal government to preserve evidence in terrorism detentions.By ichard B. Schmitt, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
    December 19, 2007″

“The tapes were destroyed by a CIA official in November 2005, at a time of growing congressional and public concern about U.S. tactics in the war on terrorism, including interrogation techniques.

It was also five months after Kennedy, in the case of the Yemeni prisoners, issued an order requiring that the U.S. preserve and maintain ‘all evidence and information regarding the torture, mistreatment and abuse of detainees now’ at Guantanamo Bay.”

Can you say “obstruction of justice,” kiddies?

As for the rest of us: are you even mildly surprised?

    Dog,

I think the Turnpike tolls go to pay for maintenance on the Turnpike infrastructure. For example, tolls just went up slightly to pay for the widening project between Topeka and KC, and for replacing a crumbling bridge (maybe two?) near Lawrence.

What does Bush have to do with the CIA Rage.

Or are you talking in Dembot speak?

Career CIA agents requested the destruction of the tapes and got it. These career agents most likely served before Bush came into office and will serve after.

Yammering Bushbot everytime something happens is beginning sound like the Libs need a “big bad wolf” in their life to discuss anything.

Too bad the Dembots just can’t use logic and common sense.

Face it Tom and other Libs, you can’t even have a day with rain without blaming it on Bush.

    Troll,

Rage didn’t blame the CIA tapes on Bush. The article didn’t blame Bush. I didn’t blame Bush. I know it’s hard, but DO try to keep up.

Unless the administration obstructs as they have every investigation to date, the evidence will come out one way or the other if Bush or his subordinates had anything to do with violating the Court’s order.

And your post was indeed stupid. What does Bush have to do with the CIA…LMAO!! Could he be…THE PRESIDENT? Oh wait – perhaps he’s just Cheney’s puppet.

On the same note, what I’ve observed is that the cons blame the libs for everything..if the US fails in Iraq, they’ve already said that it will be the fault of the libs for not supporting Bush..talk about not taking resposibilty for the choice they made to go to war with someone who was no threat to us. The damage and cost cost to our country by the Bush administration is almost beyond comprehension…”there is none so blind as he who will not see”..it’s the cons that have their blinders on…not the other way ’round.

For those who wonder why American Citizens should have firearms that can fire many bullets at once,

22 Bullets fired by police at this innocent family, husband and wife and six kids sleeping in their home.

(Note, apparently not one shot fired by “expert” SWAT policemen hit anything. And you wonder why civilians need high capacity firearms? It takes more then one bullet to hit the target sometimes. And in this case, even 22 wasn’t enough, luckily.)

DREAMER CAN ‘WORK’ IT OUTSHOWS POVERTY ISN’T HOPELESS

December 17, 2007 — DON’T believe the naysayers. The American Dream – the fable that says if you work hard and follow the rules, you’ll make it – is alive and well.

Adam Shepard set out on July 24, 2006, with $25 and the clothes on his back. No cellphone, credit cards or global-positioning software.

His goal was to end a year with $2,500, an apartment and a car. Three rules: 1. He could not use his education. 2. He could contact no one to bail him out. 3. “I couldn’t start charging stuff on my Visa.”

Well, Adam didn’t do it in a year. He made it out of poverty in just under six months.

Our politicians are at it again, Stripping funding from Previous legislation.12-17-07

Congress last night passed a giant new spending bill that undermines current plans for a U.S.-Mexico border fence, allowing the Homeland Security Department to build a single-tier barrier rather than the two-tier version that has worked in California….

….But the measures did not pass before House Republicans blasted the changes to the border fence……..The 2006 Secure Fence Act specifically called for “two layers of reinforced fencing” and listed five specific sections of border where it should be installed. The new spending bill removes the two-tier requirement and the list of locations.

“Pulling back from the double-fence mandate is a prescription for failure that will only allow more smugglers, criminals and illegal aliens to enter the United States through our land border with Mexico,” said the California Republican, who also is running for his party’s presidential nomination.

During a debate on the children’s health bill today in Congress, Stark stood to lecture Republicans and said the following:

“You don’t have money to fund the (Iraq) war or children,” he said. “But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people — if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

I wonder if all the Democrats who voted to continue the Iraq war yesterday, are amused by all the heads being blown off in Iraq.

And how will Pete Stark vote on this when it comes up in the House?

    Kansas, I posted the source.

There must be over 1,000 sources to confirm what Pete Stark said.

I couldn’t possibly have made that up.

Depending on the wind, the Democrats are either For or Against the Iraq war.

I’m just replaying their own words.

If it sounds ugly to you (and it should) it’s the words of the Democratic party.

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Iraqis of all sectarian and ethnic groups believe that the U.S. military invasion is the primary root of the violent differences among them, and see the departure of “occupying forces” as the key to national reconciliation, according to focus groups conducted for the U.S. military last month.

That is good news, according to a military analysis of the results. At the very least, analysts optimistically concluded, the findings indicate that Iraqis hold some “shared beliefs” that may eventually allow them to surmount the divisions that have led to a civil war.

Conducting the focus groups, in 19 separate sessions organized by outside contractors in five cities, is among the ways in which Multi-National Force-Iraq assesses conditions in the country beyond counting insurgent attacks, casualties and weapons caches. The command, led by Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, devotes more time and resources than any other government or independent entity to measuring various matters, including electricity, satisfaction with trash collection and what Iraqis think it will take for them to get along.

The Iraqi people want us out. Since they now have democracy (hahaha), why don’t we give them what they want?

The Democrat Energy bill calling for a 600% increase in Ethanol production, will burn most if not all of our corn.

Therefore, in 2017, don’t be surprised to see:

    -Hamburger $15/lb

-McDonalds and all fast food Pizza and Burger chains are bankrupt. A million jobs lost.

    -Ribeye Steak $40/lb

-Thousands of closed retaraunts closed putting 3 million more people on the streets, homeless, starving, and without healthcare.

    -Milk $12/gallon-Bread $7/loaf

-Children now suffer from poor nutrition, resulting in more illnesses and disease, and all their teeth fall out. And SCHIPS is gone, so they have no health care.

-Millions switch to diets limited to beans and pork fat.

-The resulting mass flatuence increase speeds up the rate of global warming.

-Water supplies run low due to ethanol production. Fortunately, sewage reclamation plants are able to recycle more of our water.

-Still, even beer tastes bad and people turn to brewing their own, causing thousands of deaths from alcohol poisoning.

    Don’t the Democrats care?

The experiment wasnt about homelessness.(whole other issue) It was about poverty and the idea in some peoples head that there is no way out. He showed that by simply working hard and making wise and frugal choices with his money he could get ahead of the game.

He didnt blow money on beer, weed, and KFC. He didnt go get a 60 in. flat panel from Rent A Center. He saved every dime he could and only bought what he had to have.

Amazing what one can do if they are frugal and save money Heckler.

My grandfather managed to eek out a top wage of $400.00/month before he retired at age 65. He always grew most of his own food, raised bees, repaired lawn mowers and did odd jobs so he could raise money.

He saved over $400,000 by the time he was 65 years of age. That’s ready cash available in his savings accounts.

One of his part time jobs was laying brick down on the early streets of downtown Wichita. I think about him every time I visit down town.

Yeah, worst President ever is forcing the weak-kneed gutless Democrats into voting to appropriate $70 BILLION to continue the killing in Iraq.

The worst President Ever was FDR.

FDR killed Tens of Thousands of American troops in needless island to island fighting in the Pacific in WWII, when we could have bypassed most of those islands.

Not Once did FDR bother to talk to Tojo directly after they bombed Pearl Harbor to find a way to bring peace without war. FDR could have found out what America did wrong to cause the Japanese to bomb us at Pearl Harbor.

It was the most mismanaged war in the history of the planet.

And FDR launched America into Socialism and screwed us all with Social Security and Medicare.

You should read more than just the headlines.

    http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/NewImages/images.php3?img_id=17853
“After record retreat in September 2007, Arctic sea ice had been making a slow winter recovery. Mean sea ice extent remained at record-low levels in October 2007, but beginning in late October, sea ice grew by more than 150,000 square kilometers (about 58,000 square miles) per day for about 10 days—the fastest regrowth observed in the satellite record.

Despite this rapid growth, sea ice extent remained below normal for November, though it was not a record low….Record sea ice growth rates after a record low may sound surprising at first, but it is not completely unexpected.”More at link.

Also, the new, young ice can melt easier/faster next summer, than older, multi-year ice.

‘Last throes’ delayed successful anti-IED strategy.

In early 2006, the U.S. strategy in Iraq began to shift from hunting bombs to hunting bombmakers. The focus on breaking up bombmaking networks, accompanied with “a broader counterinsurgency strategy this year,” has brought “casualties from the bombs” to “their lowest point since 2003, the first year of the war.” According to USA Today, the strategy “was ignored or rejected for years by key decision-makers,” like Vice President Dick Cheney, who “insisted the insurgency was dying”:That plan and others mirroring the counterinsurgency blueprint that the Pentagon now hails as a success were pitched repeatedly in memos and presentations during the following two years, at meetings that included then-Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Vice President Cheney’s chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby. […]Bush administration officials, however, remained wedded to the idea that training the Iraqi army and leaving the country would suffice. Officials, including Cheney, insisted the insurgency was dying. Those pronouncements delayed the Pentagon from embracing new plans to stop IEDs and investing in better armored vehicles that allow troops to patrol more freely, documents and interviews show.In May 2005, Cheney declared to CNN that the insurgency in Iraq was in its “last throes.”

This almost makes me think that plans to make things better in Iraq were passed over so the occupation would continue. Just a thought

Congress is sending the large appropriations bill to Bush nearly three months late, something Republicans try to remind the public at every turn.

But what they don’t mention is that a year ago, when they controlled Congress, Republicans gave up on passing 10 of the 12 fiscal 2007 spending bills, leaving Democrats to clean up the problem at the start of this year.
