If you haven’t gotten this in an email it’s a fun site where you can download the pics of up to 4 people and their faces will appear in an elf suit doing a dance — great for kids / grand kids –

As a Wichita woman whose vehicle is in the shop and will remain there until she can pay for the repair$$$ (sometime next spring), I’ve got something to say to all of you would-be Sir Galahads who continually offer rides to this aging damsel in distress……
How flipping stupid do you think I am, anyway????!!!!!!????
The thought of any semi-intelligent woman over the age of puberty entering the car of a man she doesn’t know and possibly traversing the abyss and never returning would be amusing were it not so serious.
I don’t know why a crusty old dame who’s 10 months shy of the big 5-0 can’t traipse anywhere on foot without a cadre of Y chromosomes forming a parade at her gargantuan gait, but listen up, gents. And listen good.
You’ve heard of a nasty little thing called “rape”, haven’t you? Get in someone’s hooptie, and you’re at his mercy, even if his mercy involves something Mike Tyson was incarcerated for.
I know I make a pitiful sight: six feet of snarling, stumbling, sometimes-singing, usually-unusual female trying to get from point A to point B without self-immolating. And, thanks to Wichita’s risible bus service, it’s a thankless experience. However……..
How bleeping stupid do you think I am, anyway?
You’ve heard about what can happen after rape, haven’t you? I know what can happen after this occurrence – pregnancies can happen, that’s what! I know, because I’ve spoken to more than one denizen of Rachel’s Vinyard who now equates herself with Aileen Wuornos because of someone else’s bestiality. And I’m just not masochistic enough for that (crap). Even though it might do me some good to discuss the finer (i.e., truer) points of “The Gospel of Life” with a compassionate priest.
Dudes, stop offering rides to this towering inferno. I don’t know if your protective instincts are at work; I don’t know if your (grand)mommy fetish is festering; heck, I don’t know who or what you are. And that’s the point here.
I’m not stupid. And I really, really love my body and my sweet nature. Let’s just keep it that way, OK? Your chivalry is probably better suited somewhere else.
Take a chill pill, f cubed. Your rant is misdirected. I have never seen you, never offered you a ride, and will be damned if I ever do–or hold a door open, give up a seat, or anything else that used to pass for manners.
So why not print up your rant and hand it out to the people who are trying to be decent and caring? Publishing it is a wide spread indictment of all males everywhere, which is neither warranted nor accurate.
Oh, dear…..
Rape doesn’t “pass for manners,” sweetcheeks.
Just so we’re clear: I’m aware that most men aren’t criminals. But the fact remains: when a lone female enters someone’s vehicle – she’s fair game for assault.
Do you understand the definition of rape, sir? Think back to the first date you ever went on – were you driven to some far-off environ and violated? I can’t be sure, but I’m pretty sure the answer would be “no.”
Unless you’ve walked in my shoes, I won’t apologize for my “rant” – as you put it. I have a propensity for injecting humor into pathos whenever I can.
Injecting body parts where they clearly aren’t welcome is neither humorous nor warranted.
I am not your sweetcheeks, so save your belittling endearments to those you can intimidate, ok?
Offering a ride to a pedestrian (male or female) in December is Kansas is usually an act of kindness. Not all such offers are attempts at rape. Belitting an entire gender (claiming a mommy fetish, etc) because some people try to be decent and caring humans is beyond reason.
Oh, that’s right.
If you were my sweetcheeks, I’d self-circumcise.
The point is this: I’m NOT belittling an entire gender – I am making satire of my own current situation – and the fact that I don’t KNOW these courtly individuals. They COULD be rapists, sir. That’s the whole point.
Of course, you’ve probably had SO much first-hand experience with this crime, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about………
Geez what wandered in here?
Lady? ?
Honestly? I don’t imagine you have to worry about offers for rides, unwanted attention, or even likely a second look from men.
Go ahead, guys, be mean to F-Cubed. You will NEVER have to deal with what she’s talking about.
Like none of you have come on here to vent…about everything.
Yeah, right.
Geeze, F-Cubed, when I wolf-whistled at you last week, I thought you were a really hot drag queen.
My apologies.
(okay, I’m kidding, but this thread just…went there for me)
yeh, you’re right Rox…not a single man has ever been raped in the history of mankind…
So, now she is openly accusing me of being a rapist. “…you’ve probably had SO much first-hand experience with this crime, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about…”
And I am being mean to her? I was raised to be polite and respectful to women. I will happily make an exception for fcubed.
Something light in lieu of the present direction this blog is heading:
To All My Democrat Friends:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes
for an environmentally Conscious, socially responsible, low-stress,
non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious orsecular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful,
personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whosecontributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.
To My Republican Friends:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
ken, this is a carryover from yesterday’s open thread on the taxation of hedge fund manager’s “compensation”.
The debate is over the treatment of the capital gains and dividend income realized by the manager from the “carried interest” portion of the fees charged the fund clients for management of their money. Currently, the manager receives a certain amount of compensation, normally 2% of the amount invested (IIRC) in cash as a fee; the balance of the fee is in the form of an interest in the investment of the client (often done in the guise of an investment partnership). This fee may be 20%. As the return from the carried interest is in the form of capital gains and dividends, not in the form of direct compensation, the same is subject to income taxation at the more favorable rates imposed on long term capital gains and qualified dividends.
The proposal that Congress has been debating involves treatment of all the income earned by a hedge fund manager from managing his client’s investments, whether a direct fee or from the carried interest, as ordinary, compensation income, taxable at the federal level by rates up to 35%, rather than taxing the 2% as ordinary income, with the balance as capital gains or qualified dividends (maximum rate of 15%).
The above is a simplified discussion of my understanding of the debate. While there are many arguments which can be made for treating all compensation earned by the manager as ordinary income, there are issues there (beyond the scope of this paltry post) which could extend beyond the limited case being debated, and the law of “unintended consequences” would surely be activated to cause taxation at ordinary income tax rates of capital gains, etc., from other sources which do not necessarily fit within the “carried interest” situation.
There are also arguments being made that there should not be preferential treatment for capital gain and dividend income that are involved in this entire discussion, which are a separate issue. Personally, I could see some rationale for treating capital gains/dividends realized by an investor who is not a direct investor in the enterprise, e.g., a purchaser of stock from the original investor, whose money doesn’t go to the enterprise but to the original investor, as ordinary income; but that is a topic for another time.
Hope this is of some help. I freely acknowledge the oversimplification of the contents of this post.
Upon further reflection, the solution to F-cubed’s problem is obvious. What she needs to do is get pictures of herself from the front, side, and back while wearing whatever winter garments she may regularly wear outside. Then she needs to pay for advertising in both the Wichita Eagle and all of the television stations with the afore-mentioned pictures so everyone will know exactly who not to offer a ride to. That way anyone who still wishes to trust to the kindness of strangers is not penalized by F-cubed’s lack of trust in her fellow man…
Another possibility, should she not want the notoriety of the above method, is that she can start a website for people of her shared distrust to post their own photographs and pleas…perhaps with a snappy little name like dontoffermearide.com or Idontridewithstrangers.com.
That’s a great post American Way! I’m stealing it and sending it on.
Or perhaps Fcubed could just turn the paranoia down a notch or two. Situational awareness is one thing, and is quite wise; assuming an entire gender is out to get you is another thing entirely . . .
And just what caused you to wander in here to dump this little bit of Christmas cheer anyway?
VT — thanks I need the oversimplification — an HR / Traing type / Missile launch officer only had to learn to count backwards from 10 — 10 -9 – 8 — etc
“..investor who is not a direct investor in the enterprise, e.g., a purchaser of stock from the original investor, whose money doesn’t go to the enterprise but to the original investor … ”
I would think that if the broker type was receiving some form of quanitifable gain from his clients investment that still makes him an investor – because his gain is dependent on the performance of the investment …. ? that’s a question
Typical men.
F — I think a polite but firm “No thank you” should work if not carry pepper spray
ken, that is the underlying theory of the current scheme, namely that the manager is, for purposes of the “carried interest” no more than an investor and thus entitled to the treatment it is given. On the opposite side of the argument, the carried interest would not exist but for the agreement with the client to manage the fund investment, with the carried interest being a part of the compensation therefor. These type of funds don’t often lose money, it appears, and I don’t begrudge the managers their compensation; it just seems to me that the carried interest part of the compensation should be taxed as if it was directly paid in cash.
Thank you, AmWay, but a simple Merry Christmas would have been fine and appreciated.
hmmmm vt — I’ll have to think about that 10 -9 – 8 – 7 ……….
The mgr. is receiving the compensation for his services, and therefore I agree he should be taxed like any other wage earner.
At the least the mgrs. initial compensation in the form of interest in the investment should be ordinary income, and the gains above that taxed as capital gains.
Some good news, the Senate committee has voted to send contempt charges to the full senate for vote. This will give Sen. Roberts and Sen. Brownback another opportunity to demonstrate they are bush lap dogs!http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071213/pl_nm/usa_congress_contempt_dc_1

F-Cubed can’t handle the truth! Lady, we live in a world that has offers. And those offers have to be made by men with pickup trucks. Who’s gonna do it? F-Cubed? F-Cubed, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than F-Cubed can possibly fathom. F-Cubed weeps for walking and F-Cubed curses men. F-Cubed have that luxury. F-Cubed has the luxury of not knowing what I know: that my offer for a ride, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to F-Cubed, saves lives…F-Cubed doesn’t want the truth. Because deep down, in places F-Cubed doesn’t talk about at parties, F-Cubed wants me to offer a ride. F-Cubed NEEDS me to offer a ride. We use words like honor, code, loyalty…we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. F-Cubed use ‘em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a woman who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very free ride I offered, then questions the manner in which I offered! I’d rather F-Cubed just said thank-you and F-Cubed and went on F-Cube’s walking way. Otherwise, I suggest F-Cubed roll up her pant legs and take a hike. Either way, I don’t give a damn what F-Cubed thinks or what F-Cubed thinks she is entitled to!
AmWay:
I am a proud liberal who thinks letters to the editor like the one in todays paper concerning the Chistmas Tree are just so silly.
When we have folks who as so goofy like that, it invites the kind of ridicule you so enjoy providing in your post at 8:23.
fyi was out shopping last night and took a drive through college hill to see the xmas decorations — i think a must see is Fountain ave, south of douglas at the very end as it dead ends at kellogg is a half block where almost everyone has gone all out — if you have those paper goggles that turn lights to snowflakes would be a great place to use em ….
…. thank you colonel — but we want the TRUTH !!!
Now where are the censors when you need them?
F-cube is less offensive then the politically incorrect posts that ARE pulled?
I’m not for censorship, but if you are going to censor, then at least take out the obvious crap.
That wasn’t nice Rox.
Hey I backed off her? invitation to fight.
Definitely some….different folks meandering through today.
What wasn’t nice, JR? My ‘typical men’ comment? You guys just don’t understand.
It’s like one of women’s favorite comments to explain so many failed relationships:Men are just no damned good.My response:You need to consider the caliber of men you’re attracted to.
When you think that only the stud-muffin from Hell is good enough for you, don’t whine when you find out about the “from Hell” part.
Snuffy,
Is the “men are just no damned good” thing anything like men’s favorite comment? You know, the “She’s only good for f—ing” one.
The eternal Battle of the Sexes.
Not to change the subject but the woman who cut the baby from the belly of the woman she had murdered has pointed out that she can’t be charged with kidnapping because she only took a fetus. Don’t you just hate when lawyers go all literal on us.
Senate Republicans Block Energy Bill
By a narrow margin, the Senate today failed again to block a Republican-led filibuster on an energy bill as GOP leaders made a stand against a $21.8 billion, 10-year tax package that would have extended incentives for wind and solar energy and reduced some tax breaks for oil companies.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/13/AR2007121300281.html?hpid=topnews
Once again, republicans support dependence on foriegn oil, corporate welfare for Big Oil, and screwing the average Joe.
Once again, Democrats think taxes are the solution for all problems.
Who do you think those tax hikes will be passed on to?

Triple X, how can the federal government mandate to raise CAFE standards in 13 years – to a number LESS than I am getting in my Honda today helping?

Rox, it’s clear you don’t spend much time around real men, probably for obvious reasons.
Something to consider. Most of us men were raised by our mothers.
Another massive failure by women?

Uh, because we’re talking about American cars?
Uh, because we’re talking about AVERAGE of milage?
IIRCWeren’t those tax breaks for the oil companies actually initially a mistake made by a clerical person wrt offshore oil? If so, they are just trying to correct a mistake that resulted in a windfall for the oil cos.

Here’s a great picture of President-in-Exile Al Gore excoriating the US for stalling at the Bali global warming talks.
“I am getting 44/45 MPG today.”
Yeah, and I get about 20 in my Lincoln.
I’d still rather have the Lincoln.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee voted on Thursday to hold two top aides to President George W. Bush in contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate in its probe of fired federal prosecutors.
On a largely party-line vote of 11-7, the Democratic-led panel sent contempt citations against White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and former Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove to the full Senate for consideration.
As with many of Bush’s battles with the Democratic-led Senate, the president may ultimately prevail since his fellow Republicans may be able to block the citations with a procedural hurdle.
Bush has claimed executive privilege to protect aides from complying with congressional subpoenas demanding documents or testimony in an investigation into the firing last year of nine U.S. attorneys. The committee has rejected his privilege claim as unfounded.

Yea Capn: Why are those talks in Bali, with the commensurate private and chartered jets, etc?
I’d have more sympathy for the global warming “crisis” if those who proclaimed it to be a crisis acted like it was.
And no, I’m not gonna debate the relative merits of the positions with you. Just an observation.
XXX the federal government has given the American automobile makers an excuse to do nothing for 13 more years.
Instead of attempting to compete -they gain protection by the feds.
Instead of protecting their own industry and jobs – they can hide behind the feds CAFE standards.
Meanwhile Toyota, Honda, and many other auto makers have increased sales around the world.
The hybrids are selling like hotcakes.
But you really don’t care about the GW crap do you? It’s all a show.
All you really want is the MONEY you can STEAL hidden in the tax hikes of the program.
Revenge against an enemy you don’t know – but love to hate. Big oil. And just who is that?
“Big oil. And just who is that?”
Big oil is every American who owns a car.
“XXX the federal government has given the American automobile makers an excuse to do nothing for 13 more years.

Ah-hah! I misunderstood your point and I offer my profound appoligy. I agree with the above.
“But you really don’t care about the GW crap do you? It’s all a show.”
No, I’m not very concerned about it. I think that as long as republicans insist on being willfuly stupid about it and obstructing every move to do something about it, there’s not much use worrying about it. At any rate, I’ll be long dead and gone before it gets really bad.
“All you really want is the MONEY you can STEAL hidden in the tax hikes of the program.”
I’d use the f-word, but the filter won’t let me.
“Revenge against an enemy you don’t know – but love to hate. Big oil. And just who is that?”
How about Exxon, BP, Shell, Con/Phillips?

How can I help? retired, 60, Mulvane, have average skills, but can paint hang sheetrock, small electrical etc knees shoulder preclude any real heavy lifting (max 50lbs maybe)
Oh-kay……
Let me explain a little something to all you misogynists out there:
I DID try to POLITELY refuse these offers. I sweetly said, “No thank you, sir.” That didn’t always go over very well, so I started saying, “No, thank you” in a rather firm voice. That doesn’t always work, so I started snarling, “No!” when my first statements weren’t received all that well. It was only after more than a few dudes couldn’t really take “no” for an answer (hmmmm, where have I heard that before*????) that I started swearin’ like the DICKENS.
Do any of you egotists have sisters and/or mothers? Would you want them to climb into the car of a TOTAL stranger? Just to clarify here: I have accepted rides from male co-workers whom I respect. And I am always grateful and appreciative. And, no, I don’t think they “owe” me this benevolence. But I am grateful when it occurs.
To the dude who denigrated my appearance: sorry, Charlie – I ain’t ugly. Everything else is going to seed – but my face hasn’t turned. Hate to break it to ya – but I’m not hideous.
There’s just a couple more thangs I’d like to state as well: 1) I wasn’t accusing Taz of BEING a rapist – I was taking him to task for not knowing HOW a rape victim suffers. I doubt he’s ever been raped by a woman. And if so, I don’t think the dude has ever been knocked up. Is that a fair indictment? Methinks it is.
*Not taking “no” for an answer is a really icky personality trait, just in case any clarification is needed. Not to go all “Thelma and Louise” on your collective keisters, but when a woman is crying and screaming “Stop” at the top of her lungs, it’s usually a sign that consensual couplin’ ain’t happening.
Last but certainly not least, I made it clear in my initial post that I’ve dealt with tragedy in the past. And so have millions of other women. Given that fact, I think your vitriol and scorn are rather grotesque.
If it’s woman-hating that lights your fire, may I suggest the website of Father David Trosch? He believes, among other things, that “date rape isn’t really rape” if the woman is at a certain point in her cycle.
I think you and he would be really cool bedfellows………..provided you could get past one another’s egos, which are probably so big they could form their own websites.
F-cubed:
You needn’t suffer; they have drugs for that now.
Join us again when you’ve been properly adjusted.
You know F-cube, if you wouldn’t stand on street corners all the time, you wouldn’t get so many guys trying to pick you up.
Hey Julie?
I’m not finding anything. Try sending again?
I’m game. Just let me know.
How about Exxon, BP, Shell, Con/Phillips?
More than 30 million Americans are invested in 401/403 programs with over one trillion dollars in assets. More than half of American households own equities.
I’m saying energy stocks are an important asset in a large number of Americans portfolio’s.
When you get mad at “big oil” you need to look at who owns these publicly traded companies. Yes, there is a CEO and board, yes there are wealthy investors. But there are millions of Americans playing casino with the stock market individually or through an employer program.
The taxes paid by these corporations are not coming out of thin air. The investors in these companies will pay the price.
Maybe that is acceptable to you. Maybe that is fair. But these companies are not entirely owned by big rich fat cats sucking cigars.
And just exactly WHAT is the additional revenue going to do for our nation? As long as our congress sends appropriation bills to the president – which increase revenue more than expenses, we will still be adding to our national debt. Congress has a long history of deficit spending (beyond any one political party). The debt owned by foreigners.
This is a feel good bill, but as far as cutting emissions or affecting GW, I don’t see that happening. Money for research or “investing” in new energy sources – just goes right smack BACK to those same energy companies. Like you said, “In my life time”.
And just so you know F-Cubed, I offer assistance to ANYone I see in distress. I don’t care if it’s a male or female.
I no longer pick up hitch-hikers of either sex.
But if I see someone who appears to be in need, I will continue to ask if I can help.
If you just say, “No thank-you” (male or female), I’m outta there. I don’t CARE why you refused help. Matters not to me.
“six feet of snarling, stumbling, sometimes-singing, usually-unusual female trying to get from point A to point B without self-immolating.”Posted by: Fun, Fearful Female (F-Cubed) | December 13, 2007 at 07:03 AM
Was this a post, or a Bigfoot sighting?
For you baseball fans, the Mitchell report is out; I’ve read the “Summary and Recommendations” portion thereof (37 pages of a 409 page PDF; link thereto may be found at cnn.com, among other places). The one thing that jumped out at me from the S&R was the conclusion that as the MLB steroid testing program came on line, there has been a shift from anabolic steroids to human growth hormone (not traceable in urine testing); that blame for the “Steroid Era” is to be shared by the MLBPA, the Commissioner’s Office, and the owners. About 5 to 7% of players are/were steroid users.
From news reports, players who used steroids and whose names are in the report include Roger Clemons; Eric Gagne; Mo Vaughn.
Ahh I found your very nice story Julie.
I’ll write you later about the how and when of when you need me.
Looks like America may be ready to reject the bush regime’s torturing!http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071213/pl_nm/security_usa_torture_dc_1
Why all the hostility at the new poster F-cubed? That’s a hearty welcome. She don’t want a ride, she don’t want a ride, quit riding her about it!
F-Cubed–
Funny stuff. You go girl.
I think people of any gender and age should just be left alone. That’s usually what I want people to do to me.
Agreed, Phantom.
The “victim mentality” of the well-off, white, male knows no bounds.
Rush “Drug Lord” Limbaugh and Bill “Major Burns” O’Reilly have made fabulous careers out of flogging that one issue: “pity the white man.”
House Democratic leaders yesterday agreed to meet President Bush’s bottom-line spending limit on a sprawling, half-trillion-dollar domestic spending bill, dropping their demands for as much as $22 billion in additional spending but vowing to shift funds from the president’s priorities to theirs.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/12/AR2007121201791.html?hpid=sec-politics
What a weak-kneed bunch of crawling pansies the Democratic leadership are.

Al Gore was supposed to paddle a canoe to Bali?
The issue isn’t about a few people burning jet fuel–it’s about inefficient and outdated technologies that are killing the planet.
But keep watching Rush O’Hannity. They’ll inform you of every speck in Al Gore’s eye (whether it’s there or no) and ignore the environmental death machine that is George WMD Bush.
Capn:
What’s a Rush O’Hannity?
Sounds like a toxic mix.
A Rush or Hannity is like a ball peen hammer to the forehead. With all the attendant effects.
Snuffy,
Please define “real men”.
Snuffy,
Please define “real men”.
If you gotta ask, you’d never understand. That doesn’t surprise me, either.
Just got one of those phone calls on taped message by that nut job of fairtrials.org about Morrison.
Weird stuff.
The Johnson County County Commission votes to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate alleged crimes committed by the sitting state attorney general, and not a word about it in the Wichita Eagle.
Seriously, how do you expect anyone to take this paper seriously?
Had a letter sent into the editorial of the fish wrapper that calls itself a newspaper where I happen to live. This letter basically stated that since enlistment is down, that republicans of any age, race etc. should immediately volunteer and proceed directly into the military.
So lets put the shoe on the other foot. When Billary becomes president and Iran takes out Israel and Billary is required to come to the aid of our ally, will just the Dems be joining the military then???
Ooops, what am I saying, we won’t need a military because Billary is going to “talk” us into our burkas and sharia law.
I say let Israel take care of itself.
We’ve no obligation to them.
Hey Cappy,I take it then that ALL of the shores of the US should then immediatly be opened for oil and gas exploration AND the entire state of Alaska?
Thats what we NEED to do if we are going to get off mideast oil and eventually off of fossil fuels.
Since ALLLL that exploration and R&D are gonna cost BIG BUCKS, does that mean then that energy companies working the R&D are gonna get to raise prices to cover the cost. Wow, how are the minimum wage people gonna afford that?
Oh, I see, those idiots who work jobs and pay taxes will cover that as well. Don’t I ALREADY pay enough taxes to take care of illegals and the so called “entitlements”. How much more do you think I can afford???
I expected that from you JR. Anyone else? NOT an appeaser like JR.
Appeaser?
YOU are the appeaser.
You appease the oil companies by not encouraging us to get away from oil.
You appease Israel by defending them no questions asked.
Finally you appease the Republican party by embracing their rediculous bumper sticker foreign policy.
I say America should not have to be dependent on petro chemicals. I say Americans should not have to answer for the interests of any country other than our own.
So JR, I take it then that you would agree with what I wrote to Cappy, that oil and gas exploration, throughout the US should begin immediately?
The US has 3% of the worlds oil reserves.
We’ve used ours up.
Ask econ sometime. What we could recover he favors selling to Japan or the highest bidder.
Nice for the oil companies and not much of anybody else.
A better bet is getting PAST oil. Nothing to lose in that.
Again, So you agree that we need to open immediate exploration to cover our needs (and get away from the mideast oil) while we are doing the VERY expensive R&D to get away from oil. Whom is footing the bill for that???
I understand that we have already made a huge discovery at some place called Gull Island in Alaska!
Supposedly enough to last 200 years, and no dependence on anything foreign!
Cf: http://www.coasttocoastam.com — type in the search bar – Lindsey Williams.
Chas with post like that last one you are going to fool around and get kicked out of the libs club.
Good research and good post. We could give our economy a real boost with this and a few new refineries.
Hey, IF that Williams guy is credible, this is just the tip of a HUGE corporate conspiracy nightmare!! I would very much like to believe that he is for REAL! He sounded most convincing on the program, but I dont know of any way of proving or disproving what he talked about!
IF we have that much in reserves that has not even been pumped yet, then all of this “shortage” stuff is oll of crap…
Ksgrm, I dont see this as a liberal/conservative matter… I see this as a life/death issue as far as our planet’s natural resources
It doesn’t work that way.
IF there is or will be a new supply of American oil, it will only be sold on market to the highest bidder to the OIL COMPANY.
That doesn’t help Americans.
Oh and NO we should not go hell bent on what supply we have left.
Do you live that way?
If the store is running out of food, do you hurry and eat the food you have while planning what to do next?
Or..
Do you conserve what you have while you plan what to do next?
There is also this “myth” floating around that says we havent built any new refineries in 20+ years… That is true, to a certain extent… What it doesnt say is how many Add-ons the existing refineries have added on in the past 20+ years… additions that are the equivalent of 2-3 new refineries, just adding on to the existing ones…
JR — this is worse than that… They will pump all of that oil, as soon as they can drive up the cost of oil, to $150/barrell…. THEN they will pump it, and dump it on us… And they will tell the Middle East to go fly a kite, since we wont need them at that point…
These are not nice people who are holding on to this unpumped oil… They could start pumping immediately… if they wanted to… They dont!!
I’m just wanting to know WHAT will be Billary’s IMMEDIATE response to deal with the oil problem.
Supply and demand is a little game the oil companies play with us Chas.
How long has it been since we’ve seen a gas shortage or lines at the pumps?
I’m not advocating it by the way, just pointing it out.
This busts the “we need more refineries!” line.
They can refine as much gas as they can sell. No more refineries are needed.
Oil companies do NOT want more refining capacity. Read the internal company memos,http://www.consumerwatchdog.org/energy/fs
Vote for Senator Clinton and find out Gene?
Cosmos, that guy I heard on the radio says they are purposely cutting back on refinery capacity… but not on availability… They are waiting till they drive up foreign oil, and pump prices… THEN they will flood the refineries with the Alaskan Gull Island reserve…
So, yes, I agree with you on that, but those studies you link to are far short of the rest of the ice berg… It appears to be a much more sinister type of situation than anybody has imagined!!
Big Oil is controlling the shots on this one… ALL of them…
If the Gull Island oil goes thru the Trans Alaska pipeline, it’s max capacity is 2 million barrels per day (BPD).
And the pipeline is at about 730,000 BPD now — another 1.3 million BPD, wont lower prices significantly.
It isnt supposed to Cosmos… it is supposed to control US!
WE buy our oil from the Middle East thugs.. THEY buy their investments from US… Our economy goes slowy down the drain, by de-valuing the dollar, and lowering the Interest rate.. Bush, and Mexico, and others get their hoped for North American Union, and the Dollar turns into the Amero… poof… what WE have here becomes worthless!!
We are then forced to buy our oil from the US Oil Companies… from the Alaskan find…
Just do some investigation on this Lindsey Williams guy… He has a pulse on this, and I dont know how he got it all, but he sounds like he knows what he is talking about.. He is not on a political quest — He says both Republican and Democrat parties are involved with this mess.
Cosmos what makes you think that those memos are for real. They are very unprofessional. Very inconcise. Poorly written. Hit every point an environmentalists would hate. Aren’t on any kind of company note or letterhead. It just doesn’t happen this way.
Maybe you have a valid point but these memos don’t support it. It’s a hack job.

These are worse than Dan Rathers fakes.
Sorry about the double. Didn’t look like it went the first time.
Three men – a Canadian farmer, Osama bin Laden and a Iowan are all working together one day. They come across a lantern and a Genie pops out of it. “I will give each on you one wish, which is three wishes in total”, says the Genie.
The Canadian says, “I am a farmer and my son will also farm. I wantthe land to be forever fertile in Canada.” POOF! With the blink of the Genie’s eye, the land in Canada was forever fertile for farming.
Osama was amazed, so he said, “I want a wall around Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq and Iran so that no infidels, Americans or Canadians can come in our precious land.” POOF! Again, with the blink of the Genie’s eye, there was a huge wall around those countries.
The Iowan says, “I am very curious. Please tell me more about this wall.” The Genie explains, “Well, it’s about 5,000 feet high, 5oo feet thick and completely surrounds the country. Nothing can get in or out; it’s virtually mpenetrable.”
The Iowan sits down, cracks a beer, smiles, and says, “Fill it with water.”
ksgrm,
Are you claiming, for example, that the California Attorney General, and Sen. Boxer were duped by forged documents? Your proof?

Gull Island Alasksa oil well.
Interesting link, Driller
Snuffy,
Well, gee, your definition may not be the same as mine. Maybe because by your definition, you are. By my definition, I seriously doubt you even come close. Just keep treating women the way you do, and I’m sure one of these days some masochistic woman will agree with you.
Rox, you got a real mess there… Sorry that people have to act like that… very sorry!!
Rox, you got a real mess there… Sorry that people have to act like that… very sorry!!
Sorry about the double shot, the first one didnt go!!
Good night; Good luck; and God bless; whatever you conceive God to be!!
Blessings All!!
MERRY XRMAS!!
Rox, sorry I missed your 11:32 post. My wife and I are in bed by that time.I hope you didn’t strain yourself jumping to all those conclusions, what with that huge chip against men you carry on your shoulder.
My turn to draw a couple of conclusions:I’m going to bet you’re over 50, gone to seed, and there isn’t a man in your life. It’s so sad to see someone in what should be their golden years alone. No life companion, no soul-mate.Hang in there, Rox. We’re pulling for you.
