"You muight also take a closer look at Britain's crime rate, especially firearms crime, since they effectively banned legal ownership of firearms.

It is an eyeopener, and you won't like the result . . .

Check it out, if you have an open mind."

My sources obviously aren't the same as yours, and I'm talking specifically about gun deaths, around 35,000 each year in the US..Britian and Japan is nowhere near that..and as far as differences between the culturs, maybe that's why we need to have stricter gun contol...because America is so out of control.BTW, a young man I know of just shot himself in the head Monday night and died. The lethality of guns often don't give someone who is clinically depressed a second chance to change their mind about committing suicide, but of course, you and the rest of the gun nuts couldn't care less about that..."happiness is a warm gun, mamma"...

But we ain't Britain, or Japan, in lots of ways, Mary. Those comparisons tell us nothing. Neither Britain, nor expecially Japan has the cultural, historical, or constitutional traditions of the US, nor certainly similar circumstances.

Apple, meet orange. They're both round. Otherwise - they are similar in - pretty much nothing.

"Now, you're right. We're not gonna settle this. It's quite simple really. If you don't want a firearm, don't buy one. Otherwise, butt out."

G, Is that the same as "if you don't want to be killed by a gun, then don't get killed by one. Otherwise, butt out"?

Maybe you need to get your satatistics from a more reliable source than the NRA rags, G. The gun death rate in this country far out number the rate of gun death rates in other industrialized countries.Just compare ours compared to Japan or Britian...it's pretty eye oppening.

JR, if I was standing right next to you, you would never know if I was carrying or not.

Don't worry about it.

Most people who carry don't bother to get a permit.

I did.

Max?

Honestly? I don't like the idea of you with a gun.

You're kinda....nervous.

That said? I don't really care if you keep your gun. That is if the reassurance will ease your fears and let you think above the level of a reptile. Aggression, defense, etc.

That's it!

That's all folks.

The above posts contain the full extent of Hillary's platform for 2008.

Like Lurch Kerry, I'm sure Hillary has a plan for everything, she will wait to tell us the details later, AFTER she is elected.

Why can't she be honest and tell us her gun ban strategy? Banning guns is on her agenda.

What?

Oh, you haven't heard her support gun rights have you?

Shhhhhh......

(It's a secret)

I don't care what you gun lovers say - we do not need these assault weapons in our country. They need to be banned. And confiscate those already out there.

There is zero purpose for possessing them. Unless you can keep them in your gun case next to your personal nuke.

Ban them please.

Obama closing ranks with Clinton.

And after an entire day on this liberal blog - only 13 posts.

Amazing. Libs fall all over each other to cry and whine about the republican candidates. Even their religion!

But none of them have the time to consider opinions ON THEIR OWN TWO LEADING CANDIDATES.

What does this say about the liberal party?

While this report has attempted to put a personal face on the collateral damage of illegal alien crime, note that many of the links in this report detailing some of the crime are dependent on the archiving time of some of the various sources making their articles available. Once taken down, many of the crimes simply "disappear" from American consciousness.

As an example, I'm willing to bet that most people living outside of the Denver metro are not aware that in the fall of 1999 five Asian gang members, illegal aliens as it was reported many years latter, kidnapped and gang raped a University of Colorado coed. Initiation rites were involved and they specifically targeted a "white woman."

If it wasn't for the archiving efforts of some groups fighting illegal immigration general knowledge of such incidents would be lost to all but the most serious researcher. Even with the internet it is very difficult to track down and report the participation level of illegal aliens in crime because NOBODY IS KEEPING TRACK! However, as this report has detailed and documented, it is quite considerable and is the direct consequence of our unfettered immigration policy, porous borders, sanctuary cities, and lack of enforcement.

In recent Testimony of District Attorney John M. Morganelli before the House Subcommittee on immigration, Border, Security and Claims he stated:

"Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are engaged in criminal activity. Identity theft, use of fraudulent social security numbers and green cards, tax evasion, driving without licenses represent some of the crimes that are engaged in by the majority of illegal aliens on a daily basis merely to maintain and hide their illegal status.
In addition, violent crime and drug distribution and possession is also prevalent among illegal aliens. Over 25% of today's federal prison population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal aliens."

Ignoring the "minor crime" such as ID theft and property crimes being committed by illegal aliens, here is a summary on some of the collateral damage reaped in crimes as a result of tolerating illegal aliens in the USA:

In Los Angeles, 95% of some 1,500 outstanding warrants for homicides are for illegal aliens. About 67% of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants are for illegal aliens.
There are currently over 400,000 unaccounted for illegal alien criminals with outstanding deportation orders. At least one fourth of these are hard core criminals.
80,000 to 100,000 illegal aliens who have been convicted of serious crimes are walking the streets. Based on studies they will commit an average of 13 serious crimes per perpetrator.
Illegal aliens are involved in criminal activities at a rate that is 2-5 times their representative proportion of the population.
In 1980, our Federal and state facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens but at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in U.S. correctional facilities at a cost of about $6.8 billion per year.
At least 4.5 million pounds of cocaine with a street value of at least $72 billion is smuggled across the southern border every year. ..
56% of illegal aliens charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted on at least 5 prior occasions.
Illegal aliens charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. 90% had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, 50% had been arrested for violent or drug-related felonies.
Illegal aliens commit between 700,000 to 1,289,000 or more crimes per year.
Illegal aliens commit at least 2,158 murders each year – a number that represents three times greater participation than their proportion of the population.
Illegal alien sexual predators commit an estimated 130,909 sexual crimes each year.
There may be as many as 240,000 illegal alien sex offenders circulating throughout America. Based on studies, they will commit an average of 8 sex crimes per perpetrator before being caught.
Nearly 63% of illegal alien sex offenders had been deported on another offense prior to committing the sex crime.
Only 2% of the illegal alien sex offenders in one study had no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally.
In Operation Predator, ICE arrested and deported 6,085 illegal alien pedophiles. Some studies suggest each pedophile molests average of 148 children. If so, that could be as many as 900,580 victims.
Nobody knows how big the Sex Slave problem is but it is enormous.
The very brutal MS-13 gang has over 15,000 members and associates in at least 115 different cliques in 33 states.
The overall financial impact of illegal alien crimes is estimated at between $14.4 and $81 billion or more per year. Factor in the crime as a result of the cocaine and other drugs being smuggled in and the number may reach $150 billion per year.
Still think illegal immigration is a "victimless crime" and we don't need to control our borders? Remember, about 60% of the crimes being committed are by illegal aliens who were previously deported.

Allowing our borders to be disregarded coupled with little national commitment about doing anything about it has resulted in growing mayhem by illegal alien criminals, not a "victimless crime."

As the previous sections have detailed, the dark side of illegal immigration includes a lot of horrific crime being perpetrated by the hard core criminal element of the illegal alien population. In the cost-benefit tradeoff of tolerating illegal immigration, how much collateral damage are we willing to accept?

In tolerating illegal immigration, how many Americans do YOU accept being molested, raped and murdered each year to save ten cents on a head of lettuce?

While this report has attempted to put a personal face on the collateral damage of illegal alien crime, note that many of the links in this report detailing some of the crime are dependent on the archiving time of some of the various sources making their articles available. Once taken down, many of the crimes simply “disappear” from American consciousness.

As an example, I’m willing to bet that most people living outside of the Denver metro are not aware that in the fall of 1999 five Asian gang members, illegal aliens as it was reported many years latter, kidnapped and gang raped a University of Colorado coed. Initiation rites were involved and they specifically targeted a “white woman.”

If it wasn’t for the archiving efforts of some groups fighting illegal immigration general knowledge of such incidents would be lost to all but the most serious researcher.

“Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are engaged in criminal activity.
Over 25% of today’s federal prison population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal aliens.”

Ignoring the “minor crime” such as ID theft and property crimes being committed by illegal aliens, here is a summary on some of the collateral damage reaped in crimes as a result of tolerating illegal aliens in the USA:

Arizona hospitals and doctors are worried about the resurgence of some serious infectious diseases, and some believe illegal immigrants are the cause.

Read the latest headlines about illegal immigration.

A rise in diseases such as whooping cough, tuberculosis, malaria, measles and even leprosy are creating public health concerns and could hit hospitals and health care systems already financially burdened by indigent illegals flooding emergency rooms and urgent care centers.

The resurgence also is fueling conservative calls for tougher border security and could cause problems for Arizona industries that rely on migrant workers for jobs in food services, construction, tourism and agriculture.

The Maricopa County Health Department reported earlier this month a 100 percent increase in the number of cases of whooping cough (pertussis) over the past year.

TB concerns grow

Hospitals and health care professionals also are concerned about Mexican immigrants bringing tuberculosis with them to border states such as Arizona.

"I've been in practice in Arizona for 25 years," said Dr. Tim Kuberski, president of the Arizona Infectious Disease Society. "The one disease that is most often associated with undocumented aliens is tuberculosis because there is a resurgence in the number of cases of TB."

The federal government reports that while TB is on the decline nationally, Hispanics are the most-likely ethnic group to have the disease, and high TB rates in Mexican border areas are a big concern.

Recent federal reports found that Mexican border regions have high rates of infectious diseases and that half of U.S. TB cases are from immigrants.

TB rates in U.S. border regions, including Arizona, are "roughly double the national rate, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The department reports the TB rate for Mexican border areas is greater than the Mexican national rate.

Greg Padilla, chief executive of Maryvale Hospital Medical Center, agreed.

"Typically, TB shows up in a lot of border cities," he said.

Limited health care access, lack of vaccinations, migratory population movements and poor living conditions all encourage the spread of TB and limit its treatment in border areas.

There were 14,500 TB cases in the U.S. last year. Mexico has 16,000 cases annually, with one quarter coming from border areas. The U.S. has a population of 296 million; Mexico 106 million persons.

Dr. Fritz Bredeek, an infectious disease specialist with El Rio Special Immunology Associates in Tucson, said tuberculosis is his biggest concern when it comes to people crossing the border illegally and bringing their diseases into the U.S.

"tuberculosis is a contagious disease brought in from any poor country because TB is in countries with a poor health care structure, whether that is in Mexico or Eastern Europe or Asia or Africa," Bredeek said. "So that's certainly an infectious disease we do see."

Health care worries

Increased diseases are cause for obvious public health worries, but they also require hospitals and health care systems to dedicate more resources from an already strained system. Hospitals and the state and federal government often have to foot the bill for treating migrants, many of whom are indigent and have no health care coverage.

Worries about immigrants bringing infectious diseases into the country are prompting conservative calls to tighten up the U.S./Mexican border to stem the wave of migrants.

"Americans should be told that diseases long eradicated in this country -- tuberculosis, leprosy, polio, for example -- and other extremely contagious diseases have been linked directly to illegals," said Scottsdale Congressman J.D. Hayworth. "For example, in 40 years, only 900 persons were afflicted by leprosy in the U.S.; in the past three years, more than 7,000 cases have been presented."

There also are worries that illegal immigrants from Asia, particularly China, are bringing rare and infectious disease into the Western U.S.

Hayworth, a Republican, said the problem highlights the need for tougher border controls and immigration law enforcement.

"This emerging crisis exposes the upside-down thinking of federal immigration policy," he said. "While legal immigrants must undergo health screening prior to entering the U.S., illegal immigrants far more likely to be carrying contagious diseases are crawling under that safeguard and going undetected until they infect extraordinary numbers of American residents."

Rusty Childress, a Valley car dealer and a big backer of tougher immigration controls, worries about the spread of disease because of the prevalence of migrant labor in the food-service industry.

"This is one of the cheap thrills of cheap labor," said Childress. "As you may have noticed, many immigrants, legal or otherwise, are employed -- if they are at all -- as cooks, dishwashers, waiters and food handlers. And it's a fact that Hepatitis A, B, and C show up in fast food environments."

Steve Chucri, president of the Arizona Restaurant Association, said food-service companies and restaurants follow county health codes and some do brief health screenings for new hires to make sure they are not spreading some diseases when handling food.

Churci said restaurants do not usually require formal doctor's notes or physicals for prospective employees. He said state law prohibits employers from asking about medical conditions as a condition for employment, but some restaurants will ask employees after they are hired about health issues.

Vaccinations may help

Kathleen Howard, a registered nurse and infection-control specialist at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, said she is seeing a fair amount of disease, especially measles, coming in from other countries.

Howard and other health care professionals are concerned about the lack of vaccinations among immigrant populations.

"We see that from people who have come in and are not vaccinated," Howard said. "It puts our population at risk who also may not have been vaccinated."

A study that came out this week in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine found that there is an increasing number of parents who choose not to vaccinate their school-age children because they believe the medicine will cause harm.

When people entering the U.S. bring diseases with them, American children who are not vaccinated are at a greater risk of getting diseases for which there are preventive measures available, Howard said.

"When you have children who have not been vaccinated, they can pass measles, mumps and rubella quickly," Howard said. "Even polio would be a risk for a child who was not vaccinated."

In the study, 69 percent of the parents of the 277 children with vaccination exemptions said they made that choice because of concerns that shots might cause harm.

Dr. Fred Scott, medical director of Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix, said the chances are overwhelming that a child could have very serious problems if the diseases are contracted because of a failure to immunize.

"If you're going to play the odds, the odds are in favor of surviving childhood with the immunizations as opposed to not getting immunizations," Scott said.

But he is not so sure the rise in TB can be attributed to Mexican nationals crossing the border illegally.

"It's related more to socioeconomic classes -- people who live in very close contact with one another," Scott said.

Tuberculosis spreads from coughing droplets onto another person. A persistent cough is accompanied by fever and chills.

"While there is no vaccine for TB, patients can be treated with anti-TB medications, said Dr. Ngozi Osondu, an infectious-disease specialist at Maryvale Hospital.

Kuberski, who also practices at John C. Lincoln Health Network, said there is a law in Arizona that prohibits hospitals from discharging a patient until that patient is free of infectious TB.

"What the fine politicians have done is shifted the burden of paying for these undocumented aliens to the hospitals," Kuberski said. "They get their two weeks of anti-TB therapy and they're discharged. My tax dollars are paying for them to take care of this illegal alien, and obviously the doctors don't get paid, either."

APSEC Investigates Omaha Database CompanyWednesday November 21, 3:16 pm ET

SEC Opens Investigation Into Company Whose Founder Spent Heavily on Clinton Travel, Library

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an investigation into spending by database marketer in Omaha which already faces a lawsuit alleging the company misspent millions -- some of it on Bill and Hillary Clinton.

The shareholder lawsuit questions why InfoUSA Inc. founder Vin Gupta used private corporate jets to fly the Clintons on business, personal and campaign trips, why Gupta gave Bill Clinton a $3.3 million consulting contract and why the company paid for extravagant luxuries Gupta enjoyed.

The company said in a filing Tuesday that it would cooperate with the SEC's request for documents related to expense reimbursement, transactions with related parties, some corporate expenditures and certain trades of company stock.

Hmmmm........

She just can't reveal her true agenda, can she?

Finally! Someone posts off the shootem up subject that has stroked J R's ego all day.

Social Security is doomed. But never fear! The 77 million boomer generation is here!

Here we come to rule the day! Mighty Boomers will have their say!

Congress will roll over and play dead. Presidents will bow before us.

Snap our fingers: "Poof" the younger generation pays 25% instead of 15% OASDI deduction.

"Poof" permanent COLA.

"Poof" pharmacy benefits baby! (pass pass puff puff).

Doubt me? Just look at AARP today (or their new name) and the strength (pull) they hold.

They are HALF the number boomers will represent.

All smart. All funded. And once we finish raising the families, and working two jobs: We will be the new politically active.

Stand by. Generation X you might as well get another job now.

CLINTON RUNS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY SOLUTION.

If Hillary has no solutions to offer, no proposals now before the election, how can she claim any mandate from the voters for any solution?

She's proposed 2 different National Healthcare plans in 15 years, proposals that would increase Federal spending by BILLION of dollars. Yet Hillary can't think of a solution to solve the current biggest Federal Spending problem before adding another HUGE SPENDING problem?

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iNxTApa2sQRu0Xx99P3jt2bEXw7gD8TCBK8O5

Clinton says bipartisan solution need to fix Social Security

GILFORD, N.H. (AP) — Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Thursday that it would be a mistake to back a specific solution now to fix Social Security since any fix will require a compromise backed by both Democrats and Republicans.

The presidential candidate and New York senator spoke at Gunstock ski area, where she briefly described her health care, education, governmental accountability and tax plans before taking questions from the crowd.

Responding to a question about whether she would consider higher payroll taxes on higher wage-earners to fix Social Security, Clinton said that likely would be among the many ideas considered by a bipartisan commission.

"I think these are all ideas a bipartisan commission has to look at, but I think it's a mistake for Democrats to be throwing these ideas out when they know we can't do anything unless Democrats and Republicans hold hands and jump together," Clinton said.

I'd advise anyone wanting to purchase and own semi-automatic weapons, an AR-15, or the weapons used by single suicial shooters - to buy them now.

Hillary is coming up soon and she is gonna take those guns away from you.

At the very least, she will restrict certain types of weapons, and put restrictions on ammunition for those weapons.

Little does she realize, we can roll our own ammo.

Buy the equipment for your sons and daughters THIS XMAS.
