In addition to allegedly meeting up for secret sexual encounters, soon-to-be-former Attorney General Paul Morrison also spent an incredible amount of time talking on the phone with his mistress. According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, phone records show that Morrison placed at least 480 calls this year from his personal and work telephones to numbers assigned to former employee Linda Carter. Those calls totaled more than 10,700 minutes in the first 10 months of this year, or an average of 35 minutes a day. Between July 11 and Oct. 10, Morrison placed 61 calls that lasted a total of 4,000 minutes, for a daily average of two hours.
If our attorney general had this much time to fool around, maybe we don’t need to replace him.

WHo cares. this is a non issue. The man resigned, the affair known. Who cares he spent a whole 35 minutes a day on personal business. Most employees I know do at LEAST that.
Just dumping on the already down. Give it a rest.
And no, I am not a Democrat. And yes, I did vote for Morrison.
He’s gone.
We can stop dancing on his grave.
Meanwhile the RepubliCONs Vittner “Stop Gay Marriage but Give Me My Diapers and Prostitutes” and Larry “I’m Not Gay so Stop Saying That” Craig are still in the Senate.
Hmmm . . .
Ya know, the world will not end if the job remains unfilled. We’re so used to thinking we ‘need’ gov’t to do X or Y that we forget that we are successful largely apart from, and sometimes in spite of, gov’t, rather than because of it.
I notice that this includes both his office and his home phones. What he does on his home phone is his business and his business only. The office phone is different. How many minutes/day there? During lunch? Or when he was suppsed to be working? As his employer my concern would be with his work time.
What I want to know is did Morrison have time to blog from work given that he spent so much time on the phone with his honey?
Just an observation. I just realized how silly the repubs must sound when we try to excuse bad behaviour by our GOP elected officials.
BenI am guessing that Carter had a cell phone, paid for by JOCO.If calls were made from a private phone to Carter’s govt phone?Well, no private matter there, really.
When I worked in the Sedgwick Co. Courthouse, I paid for my own phone, precisely for that reason.
My issues were business related.
At least once a quarter, there would be an “investigation” of some type, by someone, about how I could be doing insurance business and stock trades on a “county phone” on my breaks.
It was rather humorous, really.
And, before you libs jump on me, I had a salaried job. I put in well over 40 hours a week on County business.
When and where I did that work did not matter. Much of it was done on computer, at night.
Thing is Paul – maybe she did as you did and had her own phone. Is she not as free as you to do that? Is Morrison not similarly free?
I also ‘moonlight’ in between and around my regular hours. I have had no difficulty doing so.
BenPoint taken.
Actually, I think the Eagle is often “over the top” when it comes to technology use, be it cell phones or PC use.
For instance, former Wichita School Board member Marty Marshal was raked over the coals, by the Eagle, for his cell phone use.
Why? We pay school board members NOTHING. School Board members often work late, and family and business calls, to a government paid cell phone, seem a bargain, to me, for the taxpayers. School Board members often visit schools, go to sports events and the like.
Those of us who have been in politics or public service are well aware of the calls we take at home, that are government related. I never thought to bill the County for “county use of my personal land line” or “county use” of my business land line phone.
Also, with the rate plans most phone companies have now, keeping track of “personal cell phone use” is intrusive journalism, in many ways. Use only rarely impacts billing, anymore, unless someone is REALLY abusive. The Eagle never tracks Land Line use, by public officials, because there is not a personalized billing or list, like there is for cell phones.
I too would like to see the Eagle give the cell phone attack a rest, except for very rare, abusive cases.
It is petty.
Paul – agreed. If I am getting out late I call or email my wife – on my company computer/phone. GASP!
I remember the Marshall thing and thought it was dumb then. I also thought the BS raised against my friend Thorpe was dumb and said so at the time. Dumb – and petty.
The one thing that did come to mind with the cell phone flap was that it sure seemed like the District and other local government units did not get very good cell phone contracts.
About 3 years ago, the Eagle did an ‘investigative’ report on City Hall cell phones. Demanding (freedom of information act) all cell records..then they called the numbers–including confidential police informants!
Their big investigation revealed about 2% of cell calls could be considered personal. Ohh nooooo!
Is Phillip implying that all these calls could not have been work related? Calling a former employee who was also working in the legal department could mean that some of the calls actually had something to do with his job.
On the other hand we have Republicans engaging in voter suppression, illegal campaign financing and voter fraud but since it’s Republicans doing that those aren’t real scandals. No, phone calls is something serious.
No wonder the media lets Bush literally get away with murder (oh, and public financed gang rape).
Ya know, the world will not end if the job remains unfilled. We’re so used to thinking we ‘need’ gov’t to do X or Y that we forget that we are successful largely apart from, and sometimes in spite of, gov’t, rather than because of it.

Im sure that Butler County could do with one less government employee to and no one would notice. Especially one who has so much free time to blog.
Kansas has several “elected” department heads right out of the old Andrew Jackson system of government.
If I remember correctly, the Kansas elected department heads are:
**Attorney General**Secretary of State**Insurance Commissioner**State Treasurer
Seems like there might be another.
Kansas used to elect a State Printer and State Superintendent of Schools.
Kansas also has a Lieutenant Governor which is basically a useless position. This position should be replaced by “a line of succession,” say by Speaker of the House, President of the Senate, down to dogcatcher of Sedgwick County.
In my opinion, the taxpayers receive little value from these positions. Most could be replace by one qualified and appointed Finance Director. The Attorney General could be replaced by an appointed and qualified attorney. Most likely appointed by the governor with approval of the state legislature.
Because these elected department heads do gain some name recognition, they are often first in line to run for Kansas Governor. Governors from these elected department head positions are traditionally the worst governors we get in Kansas. Much better to get governors from the State Legislature.
Im sure that Butler County could do with one less government employee to and no one would notice. Especially one who has so much free time to blog.

I’m sure that the alternate nic of one of WE Blog’s regular posters could figure out it was during a lunch hour.
But hey, calling everyone else troll and being a hypocrite wouldn’t be near as fun huh?
For Morrison’s pending harassment charge, I can imagine the Feds will make a big issue about the ever increasing phone calls.
I’ll bet it’s Morrison’s paper shredder (and his dna tracing blacklight) that’s been getting the workout in his office the past couple of weeks. Faster, Paul, faster, indeed.
actually, I think having an elected AG and an elected Treasurer and an elected Secretary of State is a good idea.
Checks and balances!
“Checks and balances!”
Hooyaaa . . .The balance the elected AG—the elected AP(private). An elected Treasurer— An elected spender. An elected Secretary of State? An elected Secretary of Mind.
Hey, do ya think guv leadership will appoint Kline to finish the term?
Hey Phil:
It’s reassuring to know that there’s one newspaper in Kansas that still does investigative reporting. We can assume that the Topeka Capital Journal was never owned owned by Knight-Ridder or the McLatchy Corp.?
Morrison did not become a misogynist overnight. He was a fine upstanidng Republican district attorney for almost decades. Democrat & Republican judges in Sedgwick County sexually harrass female court house employees on a routine basis and it is standard operating procedure for active amd retired judges in the family law court to rule favorably for their current or former mistresses. I hope citizens will complain to the Sedgwick County legislative delegation on 1/3/08 at 7PM at the downtown courthouse. Who knows? If enough employees complain, may be Senator Phil Journey will introduce a bill allowing court house employees to have union representation to be prtected by the dirty old men in black robes.
The Eagle still refuses to investigate the civil rights violations involving Joe Liddle of Iowa even though Sherry Chiseenhall has all of the documents for 2 months. It would a reporter 30 minutes to confirm the validity of Joe’s story. However if the Eagle reports one corruption story they will have to report the next 10 stories that I have. In my opinion the Eagle is afraid to alientate Nola Foulston or Chef Administrative judge or are they afraid that they may implicate one of the law firms which have law partners who are spouses of current or former Eagle editors.
I am willng to provide copies of the documents of Joe’s case and other cases if any one is interested in know which judges, prosecutors and attorneys should go to prison for civil rights violations including suborning perjury & forgery.

What is the state coming to when our elected officials start acting like CEO’s?
I want to know if this creep is getting more retirement benefits by postponing his retirement to a point where he worked a month of another year. If so, kick the bum out immediately. He is an A-1 Creep and deserves nothing from the citizens for his months in office. Maybe I should ask the Topeka Capital Journal to check the retirement and benefits angle. The Eagle is never going to examine to closely what this jerk has done as they were in his sleezy pocket all along.
And soon we will all know how many phone calls Carter taped and what Morrison said. In one year this guy will go from AG to dis-barred. Betch!
Just like Bill Clinton sex ruled his life in office. Who knows about now. Paul got caught up with.
Hey Guys:
You still just don’t get it. Its not a sex scandal, phone, harassment or blackmail.
It’s murder,cover-up,perjury, obstruction of justice, ethnic cleansing and death hospitals.
It was there for all to see after Morrison changed his stripes, but you chose a blind eye.
It’s all there at http://www.fairtrialsinamerica.org
Why not call Dinka Warrior Karbino Kuel and get the scoop?
The Bumble Beewww.fairtrialsinamerica.org
Hey bumble-flea: if you have anything turn it over to the US attorney. Since that Republic hates Democrats I’m sure he will go after him. IF, of course, you actually have anything.
Hi Ben:
They downloaded it all in 2006 before Paul Morrison switched parties.
Do your homework, Ben
The Bumble Bee
So what you are saying is that since he once was a Republican they won’t prosecute him? That being a Republican gives him lifelong immunity? I doubt it. Since Morrison left the GOP I would think thye would be even more eager to get him.
I have read your stuff. Seems like a bunch of wild accusations to me. If you have substance then why doesn’t the Republican Justice Department go after him? He would be a prize catch.
No Ben:
You haven’t read it. I am saying both the Department of Justice and Kansas Attorney General’s Office downloaded every page at http://www.fairtrialsinamerica.org after my blackmail conviction on June 14, 2005 but before Morrison changed his stripes on October 25, 2005.
The feds and Kansas Attorney General Kline were both on Morrison’s trail for the murder of Karbino Kuel’s son and obstruction of justice and Morrison knew it. He switched parties. I get sentenced to 60 days and sent to, of all places, Norton, and guess what? There is Karbino Kuel with an incredible, unbelieveable story. Accident? Don’t think so. I have a long established history and know my way around the blockhouse.
Morrison was fully exposed at the trial of this innocent young man a year later when his office paraded Karbino’s murdered son in front of a jury! Stop the press! Where was the press?
Morrison’s bizarre behavior is because he knew his entire organization of criminals were under investigation before he switched parties and got elected to higher office. This is not just about Paul Morrison, nor is it about abortion or Deomcrats or Republicans.
I don’t know all that is going on, but right now the important thing is to Free Abuk Now. The Witchita Eagle needs to interview Karbino Kuel.
Morrions needs to be arrested while in office. I think this has been the DOJ goal all along but citizens must also see it first.
Let’s free Abuk. Arrest Morrison. And wait see what and who comes out in the wash.

bumble – if what you have is so compelling then why hasn’t DoJ acted? Are you saying Bush is part of all this too?
Whoa is that the guy in the bee pictures?
Wow guy you are hilarious in a sorta insane way.
Yep, Kansas certified insance by in Larned by Paul Morrison who was then Johnson County DA. All documented and quite a story if you dowload website. Yes, we do have American Gulags, right here in the Land of Oz.
As far as DOJ good question. I have had the goods on Morrison and Stephen since December 1991 but was in prison due to these guys until 2002.
Again, the story is no longer about me, it is about Dinka Warrior Karbino Kuel. He is the smoking gun.
Incrdible story completely ignored but hopefully Morrison and gang will be outed before end of January.
Meanwhile get on your local press to call Karbino Kuel. This the story about murder, obstruction of justice, corruption in the Johnson County Courthouse, and the utter failure of the Kansas press, left and right, blinded by their political agendas.
Enjoy.
