When Kansans would prefer Clinton, Obama

ClintonobamaA new SurveyUSA poll, co-sponsored by KWCH-TV, Channel 12 in Wichita, casts a shadow of a doubt on the idea that Kansas is forever red in presidential elections. In head-to-head possible general election matchups, Republicans Rudy Giuliani and John McCain variously beat Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. But those surveyed preferred Clinton or Obama to GOP choices Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. The breakdown: McCain vs. Clinton, 55 to 38 percent; Giuliani vs. Clinton, 49 to 43 percent; Romney vs. Clinton, 44 to 48 percent; Huckabee vs. Clinton, 43 to 49 percent; McCain vs. Obama, 53 to 37 percent; Giuliani vs. Obama, 47 to 42 percent; Romney vs. Obama, 43 to 46 percent; Huckabee vs. Obama, 41 to 47 percent.

Huh, I thought there were more Democratic candidates other than Obama and Clinton. I guess the media decides who the final contestants are.

This member of the media can tell you that Survey USA is about as accurate as a scud missile in predicting Kansas elections. And yes, I’m not too happy that my candidate got left out of the polling.
Someone was probably afraid of what they’d find out if they polled the republicans against John Edwards.

I wouldn’t count out John Edwards either. Or any of the others (well, ok, everyone makes fun of Kucinich it seems–even, oddly, people who agree with them {assholes}, and Gravel is nuts). But then, like Doug, I get annoyed at the presumptiveness sometimes. After all, Mike Huckabee was a nobody not that long ago.

Saw him on the Republican debate and, quite frankly, he scares me. He has a folksy, disarming charm and sense of humor that could actually get him the nomination. And people are so relentlessly stupid that it could be enough for him to win, despite some of the more troubling aspects of his positions and record.

    Hey, it worked for Reagan.

Makes me think of an old Zippy cartoon, circa 1984; The Reagan campaign broadcasted subliminal messages in their ads, saying “Vote for Ron: He’s fun and friendly!” Designed, as the consultant said, to “lodge in the sponge-like consciousness of the average voter!”

Zippy, in the meantime, runs openly with the campaign slogan “Vote for Zippy! He’s friendly and fun!”

The result? “Friendly and fun. . fun and friendly. . . friendly and fundly and frundly. . ”

And the winner is: The former nougat mixer from Pennsylvania!

    YOW!

    Good call, “mrcontroversy” –

The “undecided Republican” focus group interviewed after Wednesday nite’s debate showed a significant number volunteering John Edwards as an alternative to the GOP prospects.

It’s incredible to watch, actually, the Republic Party primary. Every one of the GOP candidates thinks they have to out-Shrub Bush! And every day, George WMD Bush loses credibility.

We’ll find out in time who the Repubs decide to nominate. But at this point, logic and rational though doesn’t seem to be part of the mix.

The chances of a Democrat winning Kansas are about the same as you winning the big Mega Millions jackpot. In other words as close to zero as you can get.

I didn’t get to vote. Did they offer that selection that says “None of the above”?

I would be hard pressed to chose between Hitlery or Osama and say Paris Hilton or Iranian president Abinutjob. A moron or a sociopath what a choice.

I guess a tyrant’s better than a president who believes in a higher power and has standards.

It should be Clinton. I miss all the jokes about him.

Manufacturers announced today that they will be stocking America ’s shelves this week with ” Clinton Soup,” in honor of one of the nations’ most distinguished men.
Chrysler Corporation is adding a new car to its line to honor Bill Clinton. The Dodge Drafter will be built in Canada. When asked what he thought about foreign affairs, Clinton replied, “I don’t know, I never had one.”
The Clinton revised judicial oath: “I solemnly swear to tell the truth as I know it, the whole truth as I believe it to be, and nothing but what I think you need to know.”
Clinton will be recorded in history as the only President to do Hanky Panky between Bushes.”

I wonder whether White Trash gets ALL his news from anonymous, Fundo, Wingnut spam?

Doesn’t every know by now that all the local and national media is backing any Democrat that appears on the scene. Just watch the evening news on any channel and it is all anti Bush and Republicans. The Clintons are the biggest thugs to ever come out of Arkansas. Just local thugs that went to law school and came back to the uneducated locals and stole them blind. American deserves Clinton or the Arab Obama. Just let us see how bad it can get. We will have the China outlets at our local Wal Marts.

With John Edward’s history as a trial lawyer corporations don’t like him much. Perhaps that’s why the corporate media is ignoring him so much. It’s like when Howard Dean said he’d break up the huge media corporations. After that the corporate media went 100% negative on him and we got stuck with Kerry.

But, but, but, GMC70 says there are no such thing as conspiracies! Especially among “free market” media corporations that simply present neutral information! You know, like Fox News does!

What are you libs all worked up about? It don’t matter. Unless you are sending your election contributions out of state, you have zero impact on which candidate becomes our next democrat in the White House.

You “might” get the opportunity to see one of the candidates jets fly over Kansas!

    Wave! Smile!

Kansas is different from the rest of the country, yes.

However, in a Presidential Primary, Kansas gets ZERO attention in paid media.

Therefore, Kansans aren’t seeing the advertising other states, which are “in play” are seeing.

Therefore: Polls in Kansas, on lesser known candidates, are worthless.
