He is now running a TV ad in Iowa linking illegal immigration — the only issue he is known for — with terrorism. The ad includes a picture of a bloodied child from a terrorist act in Europe, Associated Press reported. “There are consequences to open borders beyond the 20 million aliens who have come to take our jobs,†the narrator says. “Islamic terrorists now freely roam U.S. soil, jihadists who froth with hate, here to do as they have in London, Spain, Russia. The price we pay for spineless politicians who refuse to defend our borders against those who come to kill.â€

Unfortunately for Congressman Tancredo, a large portion of the U.S. populace has been anesthetized by the droning mantra of the Liberal Left.
His ad will have little effect and will most likely work against him.
He is right about the “spineless” politicians that refuse to defend our borders.
That’s the same point this liberal made on the blog yesterday.

If the Cons hadn’t fueled right-wing talk radio for the last decade or so with “English Only” diatribes, they might — just might — have a little credibility left when they say their objections to Hispanic immigration did not involve something like racism.
“English Only” was a fake issue, since Cajuns speak French, Navajos speak Navajo, Jewish grandmothers speak Yiddish, and Cuban immigrants speak Spanish.
But for the last decade or so, right-wingnut radio guys have raised this specter of a bi-lingual horde overrunning America. There was a movement a while back to amend the California Constitution to make English the official language… but the California Constitution is written in Spanish! So the proposed amendment (which had, by law, include a Spanish translation) didn’t get enough signatures. Even the folks in LaLa Land couldn’t bring themselves to be *that* absurd.
No one who has looked at the issue with any intelligence can deny that the influx of Hispanics into the United States is due to Americans ready, willing, and able to hire “illegal” aliens for substandard wages.
If there are no substandard jobs available in America, there will be no immigrants coming to work for substandard wages.
If that means the price of lettuce goes up a quarter, the strength of America can probably deal with it.
Building a fence across the Mexican border is far less important than removing the policies that make it an issue.
Remove the employers of illegal aliens and you will remove the illegal aliens. It’s that simple.

95% of the inspections and security happen over seas. Customs works closely with various ports and governments to ensure that the WMDs you have your panties all in a wad over never make it to our ports.
Think about it. What good would it do have your security on this end? If I was going to send a WMD over here I’d rig it to go off when the shipping container was opened. By the time it gets here it’s too late to worry about inspections.
The world wide security on shipping containers is very, very good. Making it a political issue is just more fodder for the dumbest among us.

I am a liberal and I want the borders shut. I want a fence, a wall or whatever it takes. I also want employers and “enablers” thrown in jail if they hire anybody here illegally. At the same time however I also would support amnesty for those who are here and have worked, paid taxes, learned basic English and stayed out of trouble with the law. There are 11 million physical containers per year that come to the U.S. With 1500 inspectors maximum, just looking at the exteriors of the containers would mean each inspector could look just at the outside of the container at a rate of 2.5 per hour.
If it takes 30 minutes to locate, place and open 1 container, 1500 inspectors working 5 days a week 8 hours a day could only manage about one third of the total containers coming into the U.S.
The limitations of inspected 100 percent of the containers, besides the number of personnel would be weather, container placement requiring hosts and cranes and of course the smooth flow of ships in port (and many other factors.)
Imigration, or more correctly called INVASION is the biggest concern of a huge majority of American citizens of Both parties.
Unless we address the employers who take advantage of the underclass, underpaid and abused ILLEGAL imigrants, it won’t get better.
We need to ask our Represenatives to support the SAVE act just presented by Rep. Shuler,D-NC.
So far, only one kansas rep. has signed on as a co sponser. WHY??

Oh, and Chas, we had that debate after the pharmacy shooting. The only good thing about that outcome was the 3 store employees were able to safely defend themselves from an armed robber who was pointing a gun at the head of one of the employees. It’s always a terrible day when someone get’s shot. But the robber brought that on himself.
