After the 1994 civil war of Rwanda, world leaders vowed to never let such a genocide happen again. However, after more than four years of conflict that resulted in the deaths of as many as 450,000 and the displacement of millions, the genocide in Darfur continues.
Bringing peace to the region could have been a redeeming spot on the landscape of President Bush’s second term. Yet despite his many promises over the years, Bush can’t seem to develop a policy for the region.
He is hesitant to send troops to support the anemic African Union because of the outcry to pull troops out of Iraq, as well as the likely whiplash from attacking another Muslim country.
In May 2007, Bush announced sanctions on Sudan to force action, saying, “I promise this to the people of Darfur: The United States will not avert our eyes from a crisis that challenges the conscience of the world.â€
Yet shortly after, Bush delayed those sanctions following pleas from the Sudanese government, allowing the situation to continue without recourse.

As has been chanted by the Liberal Left, the U.S. is not the “World’s Policeman.”
Let the Europeans, Russians, Chinese or whoever step up to the bat and help out those people.
The Europeans are always hollering about how the U.S. does things, yet they are the last ones to take responsibility.
The ball is in the European court, so do something.
Bush only knows how to promote “democracy” by killing off the leadership and driving the country into chaos. But Darfur is already there. Bush can’t help. Not hios style.
this is the visible tip of the iceberg of population which is slowly grinding ashore. Ma nature is taking care of the problem as she always does, and as she did in Rawanda. Never forget that human beings are a part of nature.

That is awfully christian of you — a christian racist. What not enough oil there for ya?
ANOTHER failure for the bush administration.
The difficulty in Iraq is sectarian violence. Senator Kerry knew this when HE suggested that Iraqi troops might better be trained outside Iraq.
What better opportunity to treat two ills at the same time then to train and then deploy new Iraqi units to Darfur? There, they would have a mission similar to the one they face in their own country. But being in a foreign land with a common cause, unit morale and cohesion would be enhanced. Too they would be on a humanitarian mission.
Of course all this is a bit too deep of thinking for bush.
Maybe bush thinks they’re too black, and not ready for democratization, unlike the people of Iraq that were crying to be free, and the only obstacle was Saddam.
Bush thinks? With what?
This video comes from Israeli TV. Here, Bush is explaining how he will start WW III.
A President of the United States should never mention WW III

Watsa matter ken? I cannot make assessments on affairs of State?
I thought you Lib types were all for keeping separate affairs of Church and State? Is that not correct?
So when I make an assessment purely on an analytical sense that there are other countries to take care of the task, I become a racist?
Perhaps ken, you have forgotten all about your EEOC training received in the Air Force. Or maybe you just didn’t want to pay attention right? :)
Let me get this straight, there’s a civil war in Rwanda in 1994. Following the war, a genocide killing 450,000 occurs.
George Bush took office Jan 2001, and this genocide is Bush’s fault?
Where was Bill Clinton in the 1990’s?
We have this Lib Socialist Dem Majority Congress now, wanting to condemn Turkey for a genocide from 100 years ago.
If the Dem Congress was so concerned about Darfur, why haven’t they condemned Darfur and voted for action there?
Darfur is a little more recent then Turkey, and lives can still be saved there.
Oh, that’s right, the Dems will wait until 2094 to condemn Darfur.
And 2103 to condemn the Dem vote to go to war in Iraq.
Max – the Turkey resolution was originally introduces several years ago by Senator Bob Dole.
Oh….the liberals castrate bush then blame him for not having any balls….way to have your cake and eat it too…its shallow politics that some of us still see for what it is! Fact is that democrats cant find a cause worth fighting for…darfur included. your average democrat as as much spine as a 1940 frenchman
Oh look it is econ Paul’s pal Horst!
Horst a little more honest with his sentiments than econ.
