Driven by mounting opposition, Gov. Spitzer buckled Tuesday on his controversial plan to issue special driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/11/14/2007-11-14_governor_spitzer_caves_in_on_immigrant_l.html
Another horrible idea bites the dust.
Yet the illegals are still there, still working, and still driving without insurance.
Now it is time to enforce the current laws of that state and deport the illegal immagrants that are there working. I hope Spitzer will open his eyes and see that the people of his state, who he is accountable to, want this mess cleaned up. Vote him out if he will not.
RR,
States don’t have the legal authority to deport anyone. It’s up to the Feds.
Clinton Presidential Library Releases Files on UFOs
Tuesday, November 13, 2007
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — In a move sure to provide fodder for conspiracy theorists, the Clinton Library withheld e-mails with subject lines like “X-Files” and “Area 51″ from a batch of documents recently released at a UFO buff’s request.
National Archives officials made several files — ranging from a White House staffer’s obsession with the TV show “The X-Files” to President Bill Clinton’s push to hook up the Sci-Fi Channel at Camp David — available for viewing starting last Thursday in response to Freedom of Information requests.
Several pages, however, were withheld because they would “constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy,” according to National Archives documents.
Among the released pages, 27 come from the files of former White House Chief of Staff John Podesta, a fan of “The X-Files,” a show about FBI agents investigating extraterrestrials and other supernatural events. The files include articles forwarded to Podesta about the canceled Fox show.
Peter Baker, a Washington Post reporter, relied on Podesta’s interest in the show to persuade him to help on a book about the White House.
“Why am I skeptical that this book constitutes an opportunity for us?” Podesta wrote in a March 24, 1999, e-mail to Baker, who eventually wrote a book about the former president’s impeachment and trial.
“Because any good X-Files fan is skeptical by nature and understandably so,” Baker replied the next day.
In 1995, a group called the “Project Starlight Coalition” sent Clinton a letter asking him to declassify any documents about extraterrestrials or UFOs.
Two months later, an aide replied that he had forwarded the request for a meeting to White House staff.
“The President appreciates your interest and long-standing involvement in this issue,” James A. Dorskind, a special assistant to the president, wrote to members of the coalition.
The files also include an e-mail between White House spokeswomen Patricia F. Lewis and Mary Ellen Glynn over a Hollywood Reporter question about Clinton’s insistence on installing the Sci-Fi channel at the presidential retreat.
“I know we’re not going to talk about it, but it’s one of the better questions I’ve heard in a while and I wanted to share,” Lewis wrote.
The records are being released in response to a slew of requests from UFO enthusiast Grant Cameron, who operates a Web site on presidential history with extraterrestrials. Cameron has several other requests pending, including one for “all files on the Kennedy assassination.”
He did not immediately respond to an e-mail message seeking comment Tuesday.”
I wonder if the next President, if Democrat will get “The Colbert Report” piped into Camp David. :D :D :D :D
N.Y. governor abandons driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants
NEW YORK (CNN) — New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer will withdraw a controversial plan that would have allowed undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses, a spokeswoman told CNN Tuesday night.
Spitzer plans to withdraw the proposal on Wednesday, spokeswoman Jennifer Givner told CNN.
The governor is in Washington, D.C., for a meeting with New York’s congressional delegation on the issue, she said.
Spitzer’s plan drew national attention and stirred opposition from critics, some of whom expressed concern over possible voter fraud.
“I believe this is just a fundamental issue of right and wrong,” said Rep. Tom Latham, an Iowa Republican who opposes Spitzer’s plan. “And to give people official recognition when they come in and break the law in their first act in this country is simply wrong.”
“We have several million at any one time who are in New York illegally,” Clinton said. “So what Gov. Spitzer is trying to do is to fill the vacuum.
“I believe we need to get back to comprehensive immigration reform because no state, no matter how well intentioned, can fill this gap. There needs to be federal action on immigration reform.”
Her opponents, both Republicans and Democrats, said her remarks on the issue were inconsistent.”
Several million in New York? Wow! Then one has to wonder about the 12 million illegal immigrant number being toss around by the Libs.
:)
OBVIOUSLY THE BEAGLE THINKS KANSANS SACRIFICING THEIR LIVES FOR OUR COUNTRY IS WORTHY OF PAGE 3B RIGHT THERE NEXT TO GENESIS HEALTH CLUBS OPERATING HOURS AND A PANEL DISCUSSION ABOUT JOURNALISM – THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR THE SACRIFICES OUR SOLDIERS ARE MAKING — AND JUST 2 DAYS AFTER VETERANS DAY —- SHAME ON THEM ””””””’
IN CASE YOUI MISSED IT – BURIED ON PAGE 3B OF TODAYS PAPER IS THIS:
Kansas soldier killed in action in Afghanistan
TOPEKA – Sgt. Jeff Mersman, 23, of Lane was killed Friday in an ambush in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan, the Defense Department said.
Mersman was one of five American soldiers who died in the attack.
The soldiers were returning to their home base after meeting with village elders when militants armed with rocket propelled grenades attacked. Eight U.S. troops were wounded.
Mersman’s father said it was the fourth deployment to the Middle East for Mersman, who had been in the Army six years.

XXX: I wonder if the illegal drivers permit thing was behind a recent occurance on the NY Sate/Quebec border. In small towns along the border, emergency response units serve towns in either contry. Those communites also share libraries, fund raising, charities and other civic needs and niceties. Yesterday, in response to a fire alarm in NY State, Quebec firetrucks/volunteer firefighters reponded, as they had for decades, but were stopped by US border guards for 10 minutes to question one of the (suspicious?)firefighters, a guy who has fought fires in the US for years! Anyway, the building burnt down! Wow….
I believe we need to get back to comprehensive immigration reform because no state, no matter how well intentioned, can fill this gap. There needs to be federal action on immigration reform.”
Since the states of Oklahoma and Missouri have toughened their illegal immigration policies – we will see more of them coming to Kansas!
Individual states acting will affect where the illegals migrate to, and impact the budgets of neighhoring states.
What can we agree on?
I thought I read over 70% of “all” Americans agree on tougher border enforcement.
Can we move forward from there?
Dem. study forecast 3.5 trillion (with a t) cost for the bush Iraqi adventure. I think even if Iraq turned out amazingly well, there never will be an acceptable cost/benefit. We probably could have purchased all their oil much cheaper.
More good news on Hillary:

Ken, agree with your 7:55 post above.
The reason why the Eagle and the rest of the mass media are downplaying Iraq now, is because the Democrats will soon be in power. Then the problem will go away. (at least it will disapear from the press)
And though the Dems supposedly want to end the Iraq war immediately, they will vote for more funding for Iraq, after another round of phony attempts to “not vote for” funding.
Well howdy, Neighbor. You know, it’s hard to tell what the problem was. Was it illegals? Homeland Security? Or just typical northeasern Yankee stupidity?
Good to see you back, neighbor.

SWEETWATER, Fla. — A man was killed by an alligator on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation in Miami-Dade County, Local10.com reported.
The man, who has not been identified, was running from Miccosukee police when he dove into a retention pond, Local10.com reported. There, he was reportedly attacked by the gator and bitten several times.

Anybody want to take bets on how long it’ll take the Democrats to cave-in on this one?
Illegal immigration is not a matter of hate. I don’t know why some democrats are using this excuse. Mrs Wishy-Washy Hillary took a stand, then backed down from her position. Finally, she has no position.
I believe the word “reform” to democrats and some republicans actually means “immunity and citizenship”. But because a huge majority of Americans are against this – they fail to act and refuse to speak truthfully on their positions.
So nothing gets accomplished.
You might not like Bush – but by God you know where he stands on the issues.
Clinton has been criticized by her Democratic and Republican rivals for her noncommittal answers on the subject. She has said she sympathizes with governors like Spitzer who are forced to confront the issue of immigration because the federal government has not enacted immigration reform. She has not taken a position on the actual plan offered by Spitzer.
About 70 percent of New Yorkers opposed the plan, according to a Siena College poll of 625 registered voters released Tuesday. The poll, conducted Nov. 5-8, had a sampling error margin of 3.9 percentage points.
After meeting privately with the governor, New York Democrats who agreed with him said they understood he had to retreat — but insisted the need for immigration reform would only grow.
“This governor was not defeated by anything other than the hate in this country toward immigrants right now,” said Rep. Jose Serrano, a Bronx Democrat.

XXX: I don’t know the cause either about the firefighters delay, but it ain’t northeast Yankee stupidity. Sometime after 9/11 the gas station in another small town became a problem in that the pumps are in the US but the entrance and exits are in Canada. Seems a notice (in English) was posted on the pumps saying that in future all people must report to the US Border guards prior to filling up. Well another Quebecois who doesn’t read English was going hunting and stopped for gas. He got pounced on and taken into custody for smuggling a weapon into the US (his hunting rifle)and was held in jail for over a month until Powell, on a visit to Canada, had him released as a “gesture”. The Vermonters had started their own defence fund for him and made representations for his release. So I don’t think it is the “Yankee” mentality, just laws being enforced blindly. My grandson went to a hockey tournament in Lake Placid and we just hoped the family name a wasn’t on some list. It wasn’t………
“She(Hillary) has said she sympathizes with governors like Spitzer who are forced to confront the issue of immigration because the federal government has not enacted immigration reform. She has not taken a position on the actual plan offered by Spitzer.”– AmWay –=====================
Maybe Hillary didnt take a position on Spitzer’s plan, because she knew he would withddraw the plan?? As for her sympathy for his problem — That same problem exists in all 50 States..
The Feds have taken no firm action on immigration reforms, or remedies. So, what’s wrong with Hillary sympathizing with Spitzer’s, or ANY governor’s problems dealing with the problem??
So with the current ‘planted question’ scandal getting bigger and bigger, will the WEblog get a thread?
BushCo only lets people into press conferences who will throw out soft ball questions… Why shouldnt others do the same when they want to make particular points?
I mean, it keeps the nut cases from asking about Hillary’s so-called “cleavage”, or obsessing over her “thighs” — LOL
So, what’s wrong with Hillary sympathizing with Spitzer’s, or ANY governor’s problems dealing with the problem??

Anyone can be sympathetic (here, I will be, “aaaaaaaaw”.)
I need to know what my next president will do:
1. To stop the flow of illegals into our country.
2. To resolve the issue about those already in our country.
Hillary IS running for Presidentisn’t she?
“I need to know what my next president will do:

I agree, and would like to know want bushco is/has/was doing regarding this serious problem. And don’t forget securing our ports, which are wide open, still!
“I agree, and would like to know want bushco is/has/was doing regarding this serious problem.”
gster, I want to know what my NEXT president will do.
The current resident at 1600 Penn Ave., is about to move out.I can’t vote for or against him any longer. He has provided “our” congress with his position and asked them to vote on it.
Congress did. They didn’t. It is doubtful we will get congress and this president to agree to any meaningful change.
Ya XXX It’s not only Yankee Stupidity, they think if they give the illigals what they want they’l get their votes. They aren’t counting all those votes they’l loose by being stupid.

Why, yes! Yes, they are!

Could we step back for a moment and get a perspective of reality regarding this pissant drivers’ licenses for illegal aliens “controversy?”
If someone is in this nation illegally, they’re not likely to show up at the court house and apply for a driver’s license.
If they happen to stick around ’til the police show up, they’ve got a moving violation against them. Oh, and they are prevented by state law from getting insurance unless they have a driver’s licese; so you can pretty much count on them not having insurance.
One approach to this problem is Governor Spitzers, which permits people (who will probably never approach a court house to announce their illegal alien status) to get a driver’s license in hopes they will then turn around and go buy liability insurance so they can legally drive. That’s not the way I would bet, but I guess there’s a *possibility* it could happen.
The Cons seem to live in a “Dirty Harry” universe that imagines any time an undocumented alien experiences a traffic stop, the Highway Patrol will pummel the stopped car with hot blazing lead.
So even if you get an undocumented alien (with no driver’s license) in custody and ship his butt off to wherever he came from, you’re left with his wife and a kid or few. They have no income, but one or more of the kids are natural-born American citizens. Not so-called “Anchor Babies,” but simply the natural result of Dad not making enough money to afford cable.
So for a year or so, or ten, or tenty, the illegal alien who was stopped by the Highway Patrol has lived and worked in America. He’s been averse to show up and tell the government he’s illegal and, since the insurance comapany requires a driver’s license before they’ll sell him a policy, he takes his chances on the roads and highways.
The only-est reason he’s in the United States is because some fat cat has hired him.
The whole “Issue-a-Driver’s-License-to-Illegal-Aliens” idea came about because the Republic Party is not willing to prosecute people who hire illegal aliens. If there were not a job market in America for illegal aliens the illegal aliens wouldn’t bother to come up here for the jobs.
Planting land mines, buidling walls, positioning snipers along the border is insane Con-think.
You can build the biggest border fence and place land mine and position all the snipers you can imagine, but as long as good Republic Party contributors hire illegal aliens, the illegal aliens will come.
It won’t be until the Wal-Mart annual meeting of stockholders has to be held in the cafeteria of Leavenworth Prison than the illegal alien workers problem will be solved.
You know what I don’t understand about the driver’s license question is why we are mixing the questions of being in the country illegally part with the licensed to drive part.
When I visited Ireland last year I passed through customs where entry into the country legally was determined.
Then I went to the car rental counter where we showed our Kansas-issued driver’s license and proof of insurance in order to rent a car.
At no time did whether I was licensed to drive come into question when coming in AND at no time was my being in Ireland legally (or illegally) questioned when I was renting the car.
They were separate issues. Why do we find it necessary to mix them up?
I’ve driven into Canada – same thing. At the border was the issue of me showing identification and answering some questions about my reason for coming to Canada, length of stay, etc. At no time was I asked if I was legally licensed to drive the car I was sitting behind the wheel of.

The Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday approved 7-0 the wording of a proposed ballot initiative that would define a fertilized human egg as a person, entitled to the right to life under the U.S. Constitution’s 5th and 14th Amendments. Now 76,047 petition signatures in the next six months will put the constitutional amendment on the November 2008 ballot in Colorado.Amazingly, Kathryn Wittneben, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, notorious for publishing lies, distortions, and misnomers, accused pro-lifers of misleading people with their wording.Georgia, Mississippi, Michigan, Montana, and Oregon pro-lifers are working on similar initiatives. Where’s our Kansas initiative?
Parkay, that is perhaps the stupidest thing I have ever seen a Higher Court approve… It is simply ludicrous — A fertilized egg cant exist on its own for months… it is at best a parasite, and parasites dont qualify as Humans, or Persons!!
At least TRY to connect with some basis of reality???
Are Liberals smarter than Conservatives? Based on the anecdotal evidence of one man’s accomplishment? I find it interesting that any progressive collectivist type would promote the accomplishment of a single individual. He is nothing compared to the group/society.
You also have to wonder how he won the Jeopardy lottery and even got to play. Or why any real progressive would engage in a contest that has winners and losers. Sounds more like some rich dirtbag looking to make a buck at the expense of others.
Besides , by that same logic men are smarter than all other genders and whites are smarter than all other races. Looks like the Progressive PC Police have a new item on their blotter.
If we had any sense we would allow illegals to have a drivers license. If one of them ever hits you without insurance, you too will see why. And they cannot buy insurance without a drivers license. People say they can use it for ID for other things like boarding aircraft or voting. A very simple solution to that is just to put in red letters on the license NOT A US CITIZEN and NOT FOR ID PURPOSES.

If it passes, I am going to move there and demand my Social Security at 64 years and 3 months old. After all, since I was a “person” as a egg and sperm, I would really be 65! And the 20 years and 3 months old can certainly drink now!
HELPING THE POOR BY GIVING THEM A T.V.
I found this article in the paper today. It is the obit of a nice woman who helped people in the county where we reside now. She discovered that poor people tend to have lots of kids because they do not have TV to keep them entertained. I wonder that, with the chronic overpopulation of poor countries, if we mayeb said forget the birth control and gave them TVs, maybe that might help?

SEND NEGLIGENT PARENTS TO JAIL!
I saw this on ABC News. School districts are getting sick of parents sending their kids to school without the required vaccinations. Some are resorting to jail or the threat thereof. This district hauls the parents to court with the kids and the judge says they can either get the shots right there in the court room of they can go to jail. Good for him! It is about time that negligent parents who are selfish should be dealt with harshly. I don’t their kids around mine if they are not vaccinated.
Kev,
I can understand not letting children in school if their vaccinations are out-of-date. Sending them to jail is simply out of line.
Besides, whose kids are they anyway? The government’s or the parent’s?
Reality intrudes.
Drive into Canada. You need an American state DL. Your insurance will cover you there.
Drive into Mexico. You need an American state DL. Your insurance will not cover you there. You have to buy Mexican insurance. It accepts your American DL.
What if you don’t buy Mexican insurance and get into an accident? You go to jail until you have a trial. You hire a Mexican lawyer who, if he can prove it was the other driver’s fault, absolves you of damages compensation to the other driver, but you are denied damages compensation from the other driver, and you get fined for not having Mexican insurance. Your American insurance company will not pay for A. your legal representation, B. your car repair or medical costs incurred in Mexico, C. your Mexican court-imposed fine. That’s why you probably want to buy Mexican insurance, even though you’ll probably never need its coverage.
Solution here: A law enabling American insurers sell policies to Mexicans with Mexican DLs. If they don’t buy them, and get into accidents, they go to jail. If they’ve entered the country illegally, they get deported.
We also need a law that requires innocent American victims’ insurers to pay for vehicle damage and injury treatment when caused by uninsured aliens, without any premium-increase penalty. (Same for American uninsured accident-causers. They forfeit their DLs until they get insurance, and if caught subsequently driving without insurance, they go to jail.)
Okay Kev, haven’t you every heard about the increase in births 9 months after blackouts?
Damn right, Parkay!
I want to sign your petition in Kansas.
Make ABORTION ILLEGAL.
Let’s see how that works out for you CONs . . .
MonkeyH. nails it again:
“the Republic Party is not willing to prosecute people who hire illegal aliens. If there were not a job market in America for illegal aliens the illegal aliens wouldn’t bother to come up here for the jobs.”
Mark Cuban provided the financing for a movie that will soon be released about the rape of a 14 year old girl by US military personnel (Redacted). His movie distribution company will by distributing it. Who would want to go see something like that, besides those that hate our military? You can bet that something like this movie will be shown prominently on Al Jazeera and used to drum up anti-American hate.
Some may say, “well it’s true, what’s the problem with showing the truth”. The problem is that it portrays an isolated nasty incident. Yet it will be portrayed by our enemies as if happens all the time. It will help ruin any good will that our brave men and women are working so hard to establish. It will place our military at even greater risk.
Cuban is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA. I personally will never watch another game involving the team as long as Cuban owns it. I am going to write Cuban and the NBA commissioner and let them know. Alone, that action is insignificant. But I would urge anyone else who cares about our troops and our country to do the same, and ask your friends to do the same.
Mark Cuban is a traitor.

CapnAmerica,Abolition petition will be coming up right after we get the abortion mills in Overland Park and Wichita shut down, and the abortionist quacks and their killing staff in prison.
Ummm Proud Man, we dont have very many progressive collectivist types running around this country.
But why would it not be something one of them would do to play on the Jeopardy game show?? The Communist/collectivist nations all participate in the Olympics. Is that not competition?? Some of them are VERY good as well, in gymnastics; boxing; even hockey and basketball!! The Cubans are VERY good at baseball!! The Chinese are very talented in gymnastics, as are the former Soviet athletes.
Where do you get the idea that progressive collectivists do not favor competition?? Sources please??
Vaccinations are what you want to do to cows. (Check the etiology of the word “vaccination”.)
If you want to achieve herd immunity (this is a scientific term, not my invention, for vaccination effectiveness) you don’t need to vaccinate everyone, just a critical mass that blocks epidemic spread.
Vaccination is not a risk-free panacea. It triggers a multi-dimensional set of “immune reactions” that NOBODY FULLY UNDERSTANDS. At the public-dissemination level, an antigen or set of antigens representing something close to a bacterium (dead) or virus (mutated to not replicate or at least not very well), triggers bodily formation of antibodies against the vaccine’s proteins, which will be produced subsequently when exposed to disease organisms’ proteins.
The immune reaction is vastly more complicated than this simplistic story. Neils K. Jerne won a Nobel Prize for his ground-breaking work discovering this.
We set up simplistic vaccine trials that only looked at vaccines’ effectiveness in reducing target diseases. We didn’t set the trials up to look for vaccine-related subtle or chronic illnesses.
Then they were marketed. It became impossible to do side-effect studies, because A. nobody really wanted to do them, and B. with near-universal use, you couldn’t get enough non-vaccinated control patients to derive meaningful data if subtle or low-occurrence serius injuries occurred.

So, you would conclude that the Salk Vaccine did nothing to stop the epidemic of Polio??
Or the small pox vaccine was meaningless?? Or the tetanus vaccine was what?? Useless??
You might try telling that to folks that never got those vaccines, but now have Polio, or those who died from small pox, and tetanus??
Hey MPS, I was wondering if you and I worked together for a time?
Kev, parents have the right to make the decisions on whether or not to vaccinate. The larger amount of people going without vaccines is by CHOICE not by simply blowing it off.
As long as your child has his/her vaccines, don’t worry about it. As for mine I’ll worry about him.
But don’t you dare throw me in jail because I refuse to inject him with more poison. I have reasonable question about his ability to metabolize it.
Parkay (fake butter) acts like somebody who would stop at Nothing, to achieve his/her goals. This can be a very dangerous type of individual.
If he ever spoke a word of truth about anything he might be dangerous. But as long as he keeps on with all the gobblygook that he spews, all it takes is a little research to show how harmless he is.
PMom — I would only recommend that you have your Primary Care Dr. do the immunizations(vaccinations) whatever word you want to call it… That way you have a reasonably assurable that what is being given is safe… :-)
PMom — unfortunately, it doesnt take very much to throw a Molotov Cocktail into a building!!
NO! I will not. They don’t offer a choice of vaccines at my doctor’s office, and I don’t trust any of them.
parkay is nuts.
Hey outie thanks the recommendation! BillO told me I shouldn’t see that movie too.
If the two of you say I shouldn’t see it, it’s a must see.
I’ll be sending a letter to the Warren asking them to show it. Bill Warren has shown courage in the past to show films you cons don’t want to see the darkness of a theatre.
Mark Cuban is an American success story. Oh but that doesn’t count. His progressiveness cancelled it out.
Well, well, well!
political_mom and I finally agree on something!
When I was in China I watched a Chinese Doctor treating several people in the Beijing Hospital.
There must have been 20 patients lined up on a long bench and the doctor was going down the line treating each of them with acupuncture.
At any one time about half the patients had needles in them, every other patient. The doctor would go down the line and take the needles out of one patient and put them in the patient next to him on the right.
The needles were constantly being reused without any sterilization. No cross infection problems.
Chinese medicine does not recognize the ‘germ model’ and 1.4 billion Chinese seem to survive just fine without vaccinations.
Our children will get along just fine with at least 80% less antibiotics.
Hank, are you trying to tell us that the Chinese vaccinate people from Polio, and Small Pox, and Tetanus with accupuncture??
Puhhllleeeaze!!! Be real, ok??
Last time I checked, immunizations/vaccinations are NOT related to antibiotics!!
“Mark Cuban is an American success story. Oh but that doesn’t count. His progressiveness cancelled it out.”
So JR, you equate “progressiveness” with military bashing, America trashing, and endangerment of our troops. Got it.
BTW, I thought you hated rich guys.
chas.
Re-read my post, CLOSELY this time.
“We set up simplistic vaccine trials that only looked at vaccines’ effectiveness in reducing target diseases. We didn’t set the trials up to look for vaccine-related subtle or chronic illnesses.”
On polio, this is contacted through oral ingestion and gastrointestinal-tract passage. In the Third World (also the U.S. in the early 20th century) it is largely due to fecal-contaminated drinking water supplies. In the U.S. the largest infection source after WWII was public swimming pools, given that we had advanced water-decontamination systems. You could treat pool water, instead of vaccinating people.
Viruses and bacteria go through evolutions, sometimes causing fatal diseases, but for unknown reasons generally become relatively benign subsequently. This was found for cholera in Great Britain, smallpox everywhere, the bubonic plague, the flu after the 1918-19 pandemic, and others.
Actually, for smallpox, modern post-infection antivirals, and if necessary, intensive care, would be successful, in the absence of vaccines. You can’t take pre-modern-medicine mortality rates, and apply them today. Anthrax spores released by terrorists would have very, very low mortality. The post-9/11 anthrax scare was political hysteria, just as “dirty bombs” has been–research has proven their potential to cause death is nearly nonexistent.
The 1940s-60’s were a “magic bullet” era. This was naive. EVERY drug has undesirable side effects in SOME people. The next time you pick up a prescription, read the insert.
The man was a fan in the cheap seats outlander. Now he owns the team.
But it doesn’t count does it. He thinks different from you.
Have you SEEN the film outlander? OR are you just judging it because of what someone else told you?
Gosh I hope you got a more respectable reviewer than Billo.
And note, I said I would see the film because you told me someone told you not to see it.
See I got this thing about making judgements for myself. Somebody tells me NOT to expose myself to information makes me want to do so.
I’ll see the film. That I add “if I can”, that should give you pause. IF I do get to see the film, I’ll give ya my take. I think I’m at least more KNOWN to you than BillO.
No Chas,
The Chinese don’t vaccinate.
Immunizations/vaccinations are definitely related to antibiotics!!
They are all part of the western ‘germ model’ of medicine.
95% of the antibiotics given to children are prescribe unnecessarily. They end up hurting children in the long run. They screw up the immune system and reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics when they are really needed.
When you vaccinate your child you are taking a gamble that the possible long term side effects and the possible immediate side effects are worth the risk for the assumed benefits.
Hell of a gamble. No real studies done on the possible side effects and all of the benefits are tested by the makers of the vaccines.
It’s absurd to feel that your children are threatened by a child not vaccinated. If your children are vaccinated and the vaccine is all you say it is how can an vaccinated child be a threat? Furthermore, if my child is the only child not vaccinated where is he going to get infected from? All the other children are vaccinated and won’t get the disease!
There was a point in my original post Chas. Get your head out of your ass and see if you can figure out what it is.
Hank
I could go along with reining in vaccinations. Sound arguements here.
The trouble is the influx of people who are none of them vaccinated. Likely little of their population was vaccinated either.
There IS the arguement that a little epidemic now and again strengthens the immune system and the gene pool. I’d rather not risk it.
There is VERY happy news just now from Julie!
I’ll not post it here. Rage volunteered his email for those who want an update. Courageous of him that. The addy is on yesterdays open.
But there is very good news!
Let’s see Hank — You talked about a trip to China, and saw dozens of accupuncture treatments… You said 80% of antibiotics are not necessary…
I think you really need to post some kind of source that shows antibiotics are related to immunizations… Different drugs entirely Hank!!
I know you dont fully agree with the MD or DO medical practices… But, show me some kind of source that antibiotics are related to vaccines or immunizations…
And my head is NOT up my ass!!
Chinese study: Unvaccinated kids at risk of polio from immunized children
The Associated Press
Published: September 1, 2006Polio crippled six children in China after they were infected by a mutated form of the virus excreted from children who were immunized, illustrating the importance of full vaccination coverage even in countries where the disease has been absent for years, a study says.China has a vast polio vaccination program that reportedly covers about 90 percent of the nation’s children. The six cases in 2004 in southern Guizhou, China, marked the country’s first outbreak in a decade. It also was the first time an outbreak there was linked to the oral vaccine, which is made from a weakened form of the polio virus, according to findings published Friday by Chinese researchers in The Journal of Infectious Diseases.Only about 60 children have been infected by vaccine-derived polio virus in the past decade, according to the World Health Organization. During that same period, more than 10 billion doses of the live oral vaccine have been taken worldwide. But despite its rarity, experts say the cases illustrate why countries must remain vigilant in reaching all children in polio vaccination drives — even if they haven’t reported a case in years.”You keep the course. You don’t slack off,” said Walter Dowdle, senior scientist at the U.S.-based Task Force for Child Survival and Development, who co-authored an accompanying commentary in the publication. “You have to be aware if you fall down on your immunization levels, this could very well happen anywhere.”The Chinese outbreak occurred in two villages in the country’s poorest province where vaccination levels were low. The six children, age 1 year to 7 years old, had not traveled outside the area, and were found to be infected with a mutated form of the polio virus that had come from the vaccine.Only one of the children had been vaccinated.Polio is spread through feces, which contaminates water and infects those who are unvaccinated. It usually attacks young children, targeting the nervous system. Most infected people never experience symptoms, with only about one in 200 cases resulting in paralysis.Usually, poor sanitation actually helps unvaccinated children who come into contact with excretions from those who have been immunized. The vaccine virus passively enters their systems and provides protection from the disease.”The downside is that in very, very rare instances, it does genetically mutate and regain the ability to cause some paralysis,” said Oliver Rosenbauer, spokesman for the WHO’s polio eradication initiative in Geneva.Vaccine-derived polio virus has been documented in several countries worldwide, including Haiti, Egypt, Philippines, Madagascar and Indonesia. When the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention joined forces with Rotary in a campaign to eradicate polio in 1988, about half a million polio cases were reported worldwide each year. Today, it’s less than 1,000 cases.”The benefits of the vaccine far outweigh any potential risks,” Rosenbauer said.Polio has been wiped out in much of the world, but remains endemic in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. Several other countries are grappling with outbreaks from imported disease. The Chinese study was led by Dr. Jingjin Yu of the Chinese Ministry of Health, who did not return an e-mail from The Associated Press seeking comment.___Margie Mason, a medical writer for The Associated Press, is based in Hanoi, Vietnam.Polio crippled six children in China after they were infected by a mutated form of the virus excreted from children who were immunized, illustrating the importance of full vaccination coverage even in countries where the disease has been absent for years, a study says.China has a vast polio vaccination program that reportedly covers about 90 percent of the nation’s children.—–
Thank you Phantom… very much!!
I have a former friend who contracted a severe form of polio as a child in Nebraska, BEFORE the Salk or Sabin vaccines… several years before… Today, she suffers from Post-Polio Syndrome, where the disease attempts to make a come-back in adulthood. Not very much is known about treatments, or prognosis of the adulthood re-visitation of the disease. But, her former points of paralysis are all affected by the re-bounding illness.
Max thanks, but mine was not a political statement – it galls me to no end that Few newspapers give our soldiers front page press (good and bad) on a continuing basis. the beagle is good at it — i.e. Sundays paper Profiles in Courage is on page 4 or 6A Should be on the front page (as well as Kansas police / firemen) truth is we have seen very little about the Iraq war on the front page
I sent them an email about a year ago about it and the response was in essence we like to put news of local interest and importance on the front page — this right after a front page spread on decorative dentures — we hear / see more about spears etc … our soldiers deserve better i believe …..
maybe an email to the new publisher is in order
Out of sight, out of mind.
A member of my family got polio before the vaccinations, and has a shrunken arm from it.
shrunken arm is one of my friend’s leftover effects too
go for it, Ken!!
Ken, I came back to ks.com and was greeted by this:Kansas, California soldiers killed in IraqAssociated PressFORT LEWIS, Wash. – The Department of Defense says two Stryker Brigade soldiers from Fort Lewis were killed in Iraq, including one from Kansas.
Sgt. Christopher R. Kruse, 23, of Emporia, and Cpl. Peter William Schmidt, 30, of Eureka, Calif., died Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations in Mukhisa, Iraq.
Both soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry. They deployed in April.
Kruse joined the Army in 2004 in Kansas City, Kan., and was assigned to Fort Lewis in April 2005. Schmidt entered service in 2004 as well and was assigned to Fort Lewis in May 2005.
That isnt at all good…
Blessings on their families!!
Good night; Good luck; and God bless; whatever you conceive God to be!!
Blessings all!!
Special blessings for Julie and MM
35 Senators Voted Against English as America ’s Official Language 25 May, 2007

Senators,Your vote against an amendment to the Immigration Bill 1348, to make English America’s offical language is astounding.
On D-Day, no less, when we honor those that sacrificed in order to secure the bedrock character and principles of America. I can only surmise your vote reflects a loyalty to illegal aliens.
I don’t much care where you come from, what your religion is, whether you’re black, white or some other color, male or female, democrat, republican or independent, but I do care when you’re a United States Senator, representing citizens of America and vote against English as the official language of the United States.
Your vote reflects betrayal, political surrender, violates your pledge of allegiance, dishonors historical principle, rejects patriotism, borders on traitorous action and, in my opinion, makes you unfit to serve as a United States Senator… impeachment, recall, or other appropriate action is warrented.
Worse yet, 4 of you voting against English as America ’s official language are Presidential candidates: Senator Biden, Senator Clinton, Senator Dodd, and Senator Obama.
Those 4 Senators vying to lead America but won’t or don’t have the courage to cast a vote in favor of English as America’s official language when 91% of American citizens want English officially designated as our language.
This is the second time in the last several months this list of Senators have disgraced themselves as political hacks… unworthy as Senators and certainly unqualifed to serve as President of the United States.
If America is as angry as I am, you will realize a back-lash so stunning it will literally rock you out of your panties… and preferably, totally out of the United States Senate.
The entire immigration bill is a farce… your action only confirms this really isn’t about America ; it’s about self-serving politics… despicable at best.
Never argue with an idiot; they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.” ~ anonymous

Chas.,
‘competition is bad’ is fundamental to the concept of ‘capitalism is bad’. If you don’t know the underlying philosophy behind the typical leftist/socialist type then I can’t help you. You might need to go on a journey of self-discovery.
Did the eagle staff sleep in this morning?

For the most part I agree Jose except for the part about the Lincoln quote — to imply that they may be sabotuers / traitors is a little over the top — most soldiers understand they are fighting for “freedom of speech” and I suspect a few support the votes above ….. what probably demoralizes them the most is the extension of tours, 2-4 tours in Iraq / Afghan … missing family

Why didn’t we see a movie by the libs about Bill Clinton, Reno, and WACO???????
Why didn’t we see a movie by the libs about Bill Clinton, Reno, and WACO???????
I believe a number of such movies were made. I know I saw at least one. I cannot say as to the politics of who made it.
Ya know what you DON’T see?
You don’t see liberals telling people what not to see.
Maybe the WE Blog has been attacked by a terrorist. Some suspects are available and we know where they live.
This is not a partisan, ahem.. tit for tat, situation. It is simply trashing of our military by producing a movie highlighting the worst, most disgusting incident in order to stir up anti-military, and overseas, anti-American sentiment. It should concern patriotic Americans regardless of party affiliation.
Mark Cuban is a traitor. Boycott his NBA team.
Maybe bush is having a ‘dry run’ to see if he can control the media!
Maybe they are upgrading the site to require an actual sign-in, monitoring, or some other such improvements that will address who posts and what they post.
Or maybe there are computer problems. They’re great WHEN they work, huh!?

Outlander, I agree with you. This movie will only serve our enemies. By protraying our soldiers as blood thirsty baby killers and rapists – serves no purpose. It only serves to flame the hate of Americans. Suicide bombers will watch this movie, as a motivator, before blowing up the nearest Americans they can reach (our men and women in uniform).
I’m all for free speech. I served to defend the constitution. But this movie is ASKING for trouble.
As part of my right to free speech, I have done the following:
1. I’ve called both local theaters and voiced my opposition to them playing the movie.
2. I’ve advised them I will never attend another movie in their theaters if they do.
3. I’ve typed an editorial to the local newspaper, advising and encouraging other Veterans to protest and NOT give money for this movie.
4. I called the local Blockbuster and Planet hollywood, asking them to NOT carry this crap called a movie.
5. I’ve emailed both the above companies home offices.
6. Via their websites, I have emailed the theaters home offices (eg AMC Theaters).
7. I’ve emailed my rather small circle of friends and others on this and asked them to join me in protest in front of the local theater IF they carry the movie.
8. I’m going to call city hall to ask about a permit to protest on the public sidewalk in front of the theater.
I have my own rights to free speech to exploit.
A biography of Mark Cuban:

Reminds you of all the patriotic war movies made during WWII doesn’t it?
Hollywood has changed sides, now they make films honoring the enemies of America.
Now if we just had the Fairness Doctrine, to offset this rape movie, we’d see some movies showing beheddings of Americans by our enemies.

No doubt.
There are new threads; David Atkins and I have found them. The new posts are not showing up, so you might not find them. So, how I found the new threads:
Opened up the Blackwater thread, at the top noticed the name of a new thread, continued to follow these links to a thread to which I’ve posted. IIRC, there is an Open Thread for today, one on Senator Biden, one on illegal immigrants and agriculture, one on Senator Clinton. I may have left one out, but search away; you’ll find them if you want to.
Oh, and by the way, you don’t need “permits” to protest on public sidewalks. Just show up with your signs and walk around a bit.
Permits for protests. HAH.
