By the way;Mike Farmer became the State Rep in the 87th District after Wanda Fuller died of a brain tumor.He was appointed by the Governor, after selection by the precinct people in that district.This district has its share of tragedy.I did not make it to the funeral and I feel bad about that.Rest in peace, Mike.

KevYou know NOTHING about the Catholic faith.You have mis-represented the Faith on several different threads.The Catholic Church sees itself as the ORIGINAL Christian Faith, the original publisher of the FIRST Bible.The Catholic Church definately believes in Baptism.In Catholic doctrine, we have no power to accept or reject “original sin” and therefore, waiting to adulthood or older ages for baptism seems silly.Catholics baptise soon after birth, for this reason.Anyway,
Believe what you wish, KEV, but please, please, stop pontificating about the beliefs of any religious group.You don’t know what you are talking about.

Mike Farmer moderated a candidate forum at our Parish several years ago. Being a “lib” I watched carefully to see if he handled it fairly. HE DID. He treated all of the candidates fairly. To me, that is an important measure of the man.

Kev – I think catholics DO baptize. Basically Catholicism is simply a ‘version’ of Christianity.

Church laws differ from religion to religion, but basicall all Christianity is the same…based on the 10 Comandments and believing the bible is the word of God.It’s all a bunch of hoky poky to me, because the consept of God is universal throughout the ages, throughout all mankind…no one has the true answer, they just want to believe they do.

I met Farmer a few times and he always struck me as a good and honorable man. I might often disagree with him but he always seemed to be a straight-shooter.

And kev – Catholics ARE Christians. At least most of them are.

Condolences to the family and friends of Mike Farmer. May God provide you comfort in your time of sorrow. Grieve not to despair as Mike would want you to remember him by his faith, saved by Grace and his good works in his earthly lifetime.

Another question- the article says that he became director of the Kansas Catholic Conference but another part says he was a “conservative Christian”. So was he a Catholic or was he a Christian? It seems funny to me that a Catholic organization would be led by a Christian. And yes, I know some people say Catholics are the same as Christians but it is really not the same thing.

If he was as good as you say he was, why was he a Republican? There is an old saying that one is known by the company they keep. A politician can do great things for the people he represents but if he belongs to a party of rich racist child molesters, all the good he does or wants to do is tainted by scandle and association. He should of switched to Democrat where he could have been really great. But I am sorry to read of his death and I pray for his family.
