Kansas has worldly farmers, too

Obamasmiling “One of the great pleasures of running for president has been to go to some tiny town in Iowa and you got some guy in overalls and a seed hat say, ‘What do you think about the situation in Burma?’ And you’re thinking that he’s gonna ask you about corn, but he asks you about Burma. But that happens all the time.” — Barack Obama, speaking Tuesday at a New Hampshire forum on foreign policy

That the problem with coming from the Midwest in general, if you can complete a sentence with out referring to corn or cattle. People look at you as if the space ship must have made a wrong turn and dropped you in the wrong place! They just do not expect to find someone in Kansas that can discuss world events, the economy, Global warming and rock music. When I have gone back east they have founded me an anomalous. But what is really funny is to see my relations back in Kansas, they are awestruck, there are building taller then two stories, they are disappointed that wild Indians are not riding war ponies down Douglas. WE even have color TVs… Did you know? LOL

I have also found the people of Oklahoma to be equally broad in their knowledge, though they sure do talk funny!

    Hey dog!

You know why Okies talk the way they do?

All that wind in Oklahoma “dries out their upper lip” and it doesn’t move when they talk.

Talk about Kansas? The tallest building in Mississippi is a grain elevator on the Pascagoula river south of the Pascagoula river bridge.

I guess we have our wingnut fundies like terry, joe and fred, and our school board creationists, and our hayseed ALL BUSH ALL THE TIME voting patterns to thank for this image?

And how are we doing in counteracting it?

Kansas… as (blank) as you think…

Did you know the tallest building in Kansas will soon be the tallest hotel in the world? The new 82 story MGM Grand to be built in Cawker City will tower over the current tallest hotel (Westin in Atlanta) by almost 200 feet!
