Kansas fully represented in Senate again

BrownbackmugKansas Sen. Sam Brownback took heat for neglecting his Senate duties during his 10-month presidential bid. But he’s trying to make it up to Kansans: He’s now sixth among the Senate’s vote missers, down from third place, with a 32.5 percent record of missed votes that’s better than continuing presidential wannabes John McCain, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd and Barack Obama (as well as S.D. Sen. Tim Johnson, who has missed many votes for health reasons). Since Brownback ended his campaign Oct. 19, he has missed only two roll call votes.

He could make it up to Kansas by donating the income he made while he wasn’t working to charity. Or better yet, he could resign for missing so much work (the rest of us in the working world would get fired for skipping out of work so often).

Nah, he’s a conservative and only wants hand outs.

Being present for votes and actually representing Kansans is not the same. I have formed the opinion that Brownback is very old power machine school.

This must change. He must learn that those who elected him are his boss.

  3. Brownback , we hope you plan to accomplish something this year.

    Senator Brownback,

Your record on immigration is absolutely the worst of the entire KANSAS CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION. You have consistently supported AMNESTY and benefits for ILLEGAL aliens, all at the expense of Kansas’s citizens and LEGAL IMIGRANTS.

Today is your opportunity to begin to change your voting record on this most important issue.

We have three nearly identical versions of the SAVE act in both the US House of Representatives and The US Senate.

We encourage you to CO-Sponsor Both S.2366 (Sen. Vitter R-LA) and S. 2368 (Sen. Pryor D-Ark and Sen. Landrieu D-LA).

We believe that this type of enforcement bill, which places emphasis on removing the MAGNETS that attract NEW illegal aliens, is the first step in comprehensive immigration reform. We must find a way to begin to stop the flow of NEW illegals before dealing with the huge number currently in the U.S.

The principle behind Attrition Through Enforcement is that living illegally in the United States will become more difficult and less satisfying over time when the government – at ALL LEVELS – enforces all of the laws already on the books. It is also imperative that the government with the full cooperation of the private sector, implements certain workplace enforcement measures. The goal is to make it extremely difficult for unauthorized persons to live and work in the United States. There is no need for taxpayers to watch the government spend billions of their dollars to round up and deport illegal aliens; they will buy their own bus or plane tickets back home if they can no longer earn a living here.

We know Attrition Through Enforcement works because, in states that have passed tough new laws to penalize employers of and deny public benefits to illegal aliens, the illegal aliens began to move out of those states, often before the new laws are even implemented.

There is no better word of mouth advertising than having some return to their homeland and tell their friends and family that they have to use the legal immigration system to work in the USA.

We encourage you to use your position as a great opportunity to enforce the laws we currently have while reducing the future MAGNETS that attract ILLEGAL immigrants.

Looking for your support on this defining issue,

  6. An American for legal imigration
    Posted November 26, 2007 at 7:40 am | Permalink

We as normal busy Americans are discovering that we ACTUALLY DO HAVE A VOICE. A LOUD VOICE. In the past, politicians went to Washington and made their private vote swapping deals. Vote swapping deals no one ever knew about because it took so long for the voters they had “promised” to represent to hear about the votes. And even if we did it was waaaaay too late to let anyone know how upset we were.

Now, the electronic media has changed that. We can watch the House and Senate on C span, in real time. We can Call and FAX our represenatives to let them know our likes or dislikes about their performace almost instantly.

This past year I have been pleasantly surprised!!! The great imigration reforms promised failed because a lot of voters like you and me took the unprecedinted interest in holding them accountable for their votes, IN REAL TIME.

This has to be a bit troubling for a “good old boy” like Brownback.

We found out that when we make our voices heard, EVEN SAM BROWNBACK sometimes listened.

We need to make this a regular communication.

Below are Sam’s Contact information, for all his offices. Build the fax #’s into your fax program’s address book and send him notes reminding him he works for all of us.

I am kind of glad Brownback was not present to cast His votes.
In fact, I hope he will be indefinetly absent from Congressional voting (and replaced by someone else).

You support and praise idiots like Brownback and try to dis-credit people like me who don’t mind telling you of his shortcomings. If you want to give away tax money and not get any return, send it to me. I am not a Senator, I will thank you just as much. Pay me and I will disappear along with you tax money. Senator Brownback needs to keep movin on and you can join him. Herb West III, Publisher/Journalist. west.herb@yahoo.com

Sam Brownback’s campaign for the White House was a joke. Somebody, maybe Sam himself, filled Sam’s head with illusions of grandeur (sp). Sam Brownback had no chance of ever being his party’s choice for President.

His campaign was nothing more than a roaming rally to try to keep the rightwing fanatics engaged in the Presidential campaign season.
