Did Clinton spread rumor, or Novak and Republicans?

ObamaclintondebateSyndicated columnist Robert Novak is standing by his unsourced reporting that agents for Hillary Clinton spread a rumor that she had “scandalous information” about Barack Obama but wasn’t going to release it. “This is very similar to the kind of trick that Richard Nixon used to pull, where he would say, ‘I know some very bad information about the communists supporting George McGovern, but I can’t put that out because it wouldn’t be right, but I’m just too good of a guy,’” Novak told Fox News.
Obama called on Clinton to “either make public any and all information referred to in the item or concede the truth: that there is none.” But Clinton’s camp suggested that the rumor was spread by Republicans, fed to “a columnist of questionable credibility,” and that Obama was naive to fall for the trap.
Novak said that’s standard operating procedure. “The whole method of the Clinton campaign is when anything derogatory comes up, they say the Republicans are spreading it,” he said. “But there was no Republicans involved in any of my reporting on this.”

So, apparently, Novak admits that a ‘friend of a friend’ told him about the alleged information being held by Clinton about Obama.

Great to see that ‘liberal media’ gleefully serving as the conduit for unsourced, second-hand hit pieces peddled by discredited GOP hacks like Novak.

When will the ‘liberal media’ get tired of being the GOP’s bitch? Not anytime soon, evidently.

    Agreed.

The Dems should make a deal with the Repubes: every time they spread lies, then the Dems get to willfully spread lies too.

For instance, the Dems should now claim that Giuliani is dishing dirt on Fred Thompson.

Although when Bush spread the rumor that McCain had fathered an illegitimate black child in SC, the media didn’t even bother to report it.

I think the Democrats ought to go back to Harry Truman’s comment during the 1948 campaign.

“If the Republicans stop telling lies about me, I’ll stop telling the truth about them.”

The Republicans couldn’t stop, of course, so HST kept telling the truth.

And “Dewey Defeats Truman” was the headline.

Hillary has been protected by the press.

As President, she won’t get the “kid gloves” treatment, and the public will be shocked to know the true Hillary:

“Hillary publicly announcing, “I am proud that my husband has stood up as president to confront the violence and to protect American women.” But Kuiper also accurately recounts how Hillary privately revealed a complete lack of concern for “protecting women against violence” when she asked to meet Juanita Broaddrick just weeks after Juanita had been raped by Bill Clinton. Hillary was willing to do whatever it took to prevent Juanita from holding her husband accountable for an unspeakable act of violence.

Kuiper also quotes Hillary Clinton as saying of the many women who have reported having sexual encounters with Bill Clinton (forced or otherwise): “These women are all trash. Nobody’s going to believe them.” This is hardly how “Jesus himself” would respond to women reporting what often amounted to sexual mistreatment, and we doubt that He would “crucify” Gennifer Flowers for daring to disclose her affair with Hillary’s husband — even though Bill Clinton himself eventually admitted under oath to having the affair with Flowers. Hillary professes to be “a voice for America’s children,” yet at an event with preschoolers at the governor’s mansion as first lady of Arkansas Mother Clinton was overheard on the intercom system saying, “I want to get this s— over with and get these damn people out of here.” Hillary has not demonstrated a consistent track record of treating women and children — at least children not her own — with care and concern. She was certainly quick enough to demand that taxpayers fund a pool for the governor’s mansion while first “lady” of Arkansas.”

July 14, 2003 – Robert Novak’s ” Mission to Niger” column is published. This is the first published mention of Joseph Wilson’s wife’s name, her employment at the CIA, and her role in his trip to Niger. In the sixth of ten paragraphs, Novak writes, “Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an Agency operative on weapons of mass destruction. Two senior administration officials told me Wilson ’s wife suggested sending him to Niger to investigate the Italian report. The CIA says its counter-proliferation officials selected Wilson and asked his wife to contact him.” The column does not describe her as a covert agent, then, but it does name her as “Valerie Plame” – her maiden and cover name. Novak gives conflicting accounts of whether Mrs. Wilson instigated her husband’s trip or was asked by others to do so. (Novak, “The Mission to Niger,” Chicago Sun-Times, July 2003).

Wilson also claimed, in his Op-Ed piece, that he saw some forged documents. Wilson later admited that he had NO knowledge of those documents, and that they became public long after his Niger trip and his ORAL (not written, another lie) report to the CIA.

Illinois Senator Barack Obama gets the support of 30 percent of likely Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa, compared to 26 percent for Clinton, 22 percent for former senator John Edwards and 11 percent for New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson. The results are only marginally changed from a Post-ABC poll in late July, but in a state likely to set the course for the rest of the nominating process, there are significant signs of progress for Obama — and harbingers of concern for Clinton.

Oh you never fail to humor us Paulecon.

The other day, Bill O’Reilly said that the Bible was written 5000 years ago. Keith Olberman and others called him on it.

You know, since the balance of the Bible was written 2000 years ago?

Newsmax says O’Reilly was taken out of context. That his inflection when he SAID “5000 years ago” was an obvious exaggeration.

Go get me a link to a comic book Pauliecon. I’ll take it with all the seriousness anything from you or Robert Novak deserves.

JRWhen have I ever defended Bill O’Reilly?Your bias shows clearly, on this one. While I think O’Reilly does a better job than anyone on CNN, CBS, NBC or ABC, O’Reilly is NOT a true conservative, in my opinion.O’Reilly is a calculating populist. He is not a leader. He never takes a tough position and then tries to make the case for that position.O’Reilly has his finger in the wind, much like the Clintons. He has a right to do what he does, but, again, he is not even in my top 10 or top 20 of favorite national media figures.

    http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/RANCHO/LIE/nbc.html

As far as the Bush Air Guard stories go, you are lying JR, I already proved, on this Blog, that Bush served honorably in a high risk job:

    http://nationalreview.com/owens/owens200402090833.asp

Phoney soldier?JR, you thought that Rush using that term would ruin Rush, remember? You foolishly jumped on that story, only to be humiliated like Harry Reid. You libs, with your hate and lies, helped Limbaugh raise millions of dollars for his favorite charity, a pro-military charity!:

“Here is a Morning Update that we did recently, talking about fake soldiers. This is a story of who the left props up as heroes. They have their celebrities and one of them was Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth. Now, he was a “corporal.” I say in quotes. Twenty-three years old. What made Jesse Macbeth a hero to the anti-war crowd wasn’t his Purple Heart; it wasn’t his being affiliated with post-traumatic stress disorder from tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. No. What made Jesse Macbeth, Army Ranger, a hero to the left was his courage, in their view, off the battlefield, without regard to consequences. He told the world the abuses he had witnessed in Iraq, American soldiers killing unarmed civilians, hundreds of men, women, even children. In one gruesome account, translated into Arabic and spread widely across the Internet, Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth describes the horrors this way: “We would burn their bodies. We would hang their bodies from the rafters in the mosque.” Now, recently, Jesse Macbeth, poster boy for the anti-war left, had his day in court. And you know what? He was sentenced to five months in jail and three years probation for falsifying a Department of Veterans Affairs claim and his Army discharge record. He was in the Army. Jesse Macbeth was in the Army, folks, briefly. Forty-four days before he washed out of boot camp. Jesse Macbeth isn’t an Army Ranger, never was. He isn’t a corporal, never was. He never won the Purple Heart, and he was never in combat to witness the horrors he claimed to have seen. You probably haven’t even heard about this. And, if you have, you haven’t heard much about it. This doesn’t fit the narrative and the template in the Drive-By Media and the Democrat Party as to who is a genuine war hero. Don’t look for any retractions, by the way. Not from the anti-war left, the anti-military Drive-By Media, or the Arabic websites that spread Jesse Macbeth’s lies about our troops, because the truth for the left is fiction that serves their purpose. They have to lie about such atrocities because they can’t find any that fit the template of the way they see the US military. In other words, for the American anti-war left, the greatest inconvenience they face is the truth.[6]“http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reid-Limbaugh_letter_controversy
