Did God use evolution? Was the world spoken into existence by God as the Bible says? Is there an intelligent designer in, behind and ahead of all we see and know that surrounds us?

If SETI computers recognize signals from outer space as coming from alien life would evolutionists be able to distinguish these signals from others as being created by a being, i.e., intelligently designed?

There is a growing field of study called information science which recognizes the difference between objects or patterns generated by random chance and those which are designed by an intelligent force. Informed people are able to tell the difference!

Darwinian fundamentalists - discover your world here http://www.evolutionisdead.com/media/DidGodUseEvolution.pdf

Interesting true story...

It was 7/1 of 2002 or 2003, can't recall for sure.

Several of my employees were asking their Supervisors if there was some big payroll error.

It seems that 250 some employees saw a $50 avg "pay increase" when the Bush tax cuts were implemented!

The payroll deduction rates were cut accordingly and employees earning on avg $35,000 to $40,000 per year saw a $50 increase in their take-home pay every 2 weeks!

I told every Supervisor and a few employees to blame Bush for those tax cuts on the rich! Then I made sure they all knew that THEY must be rich!

Excuse me, I think you have me confused with someone else. I'm a full time RN with a husband who is a broadcaast engineer, and our 3 children are grown and gone. We have rental properties that I manage...and I'm still willing to bet I pay more in taxes than you earn in one year.

"Mary, I'm paying outrageous taxes so you can have wonderful welfare benefits.

Oh, and providing free blog articles for everyone's enjoyment"

Sweetie, you don't make enough in one year to cover the taxes I pay the government.

Tara,The interesting part is how the ID(iot)s scream about a scientific establishment that hates them. If one of theirs actually disproved evolution, he'd be the most celebrated scientist since Einstein. Then why is it they don't spend their money on research instead of PR?

>>With all the huge megachurches, the riches in the Vatican, television networks, product lines, luxury cars and Italian suits there are a lot of Christians who preach but none who follow. How many Christians here have sold their computer and given that money to charity?<<

Doug... the Christians that actually do that sort of thing do it out of humble obedience to Christ. Therefore, you will likely never know the answer to that question. I do know alot of Christians, and non-Christians alike that give generously to charity. IMHO it is not appropriate to say one is better than the other when it comes to giving. Both are needed.

"So, what does the ID camp do? They exploit the minor weaknesses in the scientific explanation (that's right, no scientific explanation is perfect - although the scientific explanations are orders of magnitude better than any religious explanation) but offer absolutely no opposing evidence of any kind to support an ID or creationist explanation. They intentionally misuse the scientific meaning of the word "theory," using the vernacular meaning instead, which actually does apply to the ID explanation."

First, I'm a scientist and my initials are TC, too!

The thing about science is nothing is ever "true" as things are in deductive logic. The best we can do is "Given all of the evidence, this is the most likely explanation". And then, it's never left alone as true. Despite what creationists will have you believe about the "Church of Darwin", it's constantly tested and when something doesn't mesh with the theory, it is repeated by other scientists. If it still doesn't mesh, then parts of the theory are reworked. If there are so many holes in a theory that it no longer holds up that well, scientists will scramble to find a better explanation (supported by experimentation and evidence). Then the two camps will hash it out in many many journal articles and more evidence for either side will be gathered and eventually one is accepted as the "truth". This process could take years.

Go to any conference and watch the heated arguments break out before everyone settles down and starts drinking, and you'll see that the scientific community is not about groupthink.

The thing is, there is so much evidence spanning so many fields of science that supports evolutionary theory. Because of this, we can with confidence say "Yeah, this is how it happened". But it's still falsifiable! You'd just have to examine every single piece of evidence supporting it in the last 100 years and start refuting it. Nothing really makes sense without evolutionary theory.

ID is anti-science because it doesn't do anything but attempt to poke holes. And it's alternate explanation isn't testable.

This thread has made me hungry for some meatballs.

Nathan and his fellow Christians love to quote whichever bible verse suits them but it's not like they'd actually follow the bible.

Here's one:Luke 12:33. "Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys."

With all the huge megachurches, the riches in the Vatican, television networks, product lines, luxury cars and Italian suits there are a lot of Christians who preach but none who follow. How many Christians here have sold their computer and given that money to charity?

Nathan and his fellow Christians love to quote whichever bible verse suits them but it’s not like they’d actually follow the bible.

Here’s one:Luke 12:33. “Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys.”

With all the huge megachurches, the riches in the Vatican, television networks, product lines, luxury cars and Italian suits there are a lot of Christians who preach but none who follow. How many Christians here have sold their computer and given that money to charity?

Nathan,

Your posts upthread DO prove the points made by the FSM.

Steven Milloy and Bob Carter are NOT credible climate scientists.

And all that you have to refute that is a false personal attack against me??? Thank you for again proving my points upthread.

* aka . aka Chas,

Nothing I have said here would be proof enough for you to ever call me a hypocrite or try to claim that I do not practice what I preach.

If you think I pick and choose scripture then show me how, don't just say it.

Nothing I have done here would indicate that I am trying to become God.

Cosmos,

When you sit in front of your keyboard wondering why on earth anyone would ever say that you are no better than the trolls who you claim to not like, simply look at your posts here and you will see why.

And you cannot practice what it is you preach Mr nathan. This makes you a hypocrite.

You use the bible. You do not practice it's teachings. You pick and choose from scripture to make you right.

In this, you try to become God.

You are not God.
