If SETI computers recognize signals from outer space as coming from alien life would evolutionists be able to distinguish these signals from others as being created by a being, i.e., intelligently designed?

There is a growing field of study called information science which recognizes the difference between objects or patterns generated by random chance and those which are designed by an intelligent force. Informed people are able to tell the difference!

Several of my employees were asking their Supervisors if there was some big payroll error.

It seems that 250 some employees saw a $50 avg “pay increase” when the Bush tax cuts were implemented!

The payroll deduction rates were cut accordingly and employees earning on avg $35,000 to $40,000 per year saw a $50 increase in their take-home pay every 2 weeks!

I told every Supervisor and a few employees to blame Bush for those tax cuts on the rich! Then I made sure they all knew that THEY must be rich!

Or his 0% tax rate wasn’t cut.

Doug… the Christians that actually do that sort of thing do it out of humble obedience to Christ. Therefore, you will likely never know the answer to that question. I do know alot of Christians, and non-Christians alike that give generously to charity. IMHO it is not appropriate to say one is better than the other when it comes to giving. Both are needed.

First, I’m a scientist and my initials are TC, too!

The thing about science is nothing is ever “true” as things are in deductive logic. The best we can do is “Given all of the evidence, this is the most likely explanation”. And then, it’s never left alone as true. Despite what creationists will have you believe about the “Church of Darwin”, it’s constantly tested and when something doesn’t mesh with the theory, it is repeated by other scientists. If it still doesn’t mesh, then parts of the theory are reworked. If there are so many holes in a theory that it no longer holds up that well, scientists will scramble to find a better explanation (supported by experimentation and evidence). Then the two camps will hash it out in many many journal articles and more evidence for either side will be gathered and eventually one is accepted as the “truth”. This process could take years.

Go to any conference and watch the heated arguments break out before everyone settles down and starts drinking, and you’ll see that the scientific community is not about groupthink.

The thing is, there is so much evidence spanning so many fields of science that supports evolutionary theory. Because of this, we can with confidence say “Yeah, this is how it happened”. But it’s still falsifiable! You’d just have to examine every single piece of evidence supporting it in the last 100 years and start refuting it. Nothing really makes sense without evolutionary theory.

ID is anti-science because it doesn’t do anything but attempt to poke holes. And it’s alternate explanation isn’t testable.
