If you’ve ever thought you could do a better job of designing the state license plate than the Kansas Department of Revenue does — and who hasn’t? — it’s your turn. The state is having a competition through Dec. 31 to pick the next design for the personalized license plate, to replace the current buffalo plate in 2010. “The plate should reflect and promote a positive reflection of all that Kansas has to offer its residents and visitors,†according to the department Web site. Wichitan Jill Docking will be among the judges picking three finalists; Kansans will pick the winner in February.

Why not put a picture of Govorner Sebilus on them?
Good idea Kev. Then show a picture of a wind farm in a circle with a BIG X on it. How about a worker with a BIG X on them. Or maybe someone enjoying electricity could have a BIG X on them. By all means put a picture of the queen of Kansas on then plate. That will remind folks to never elect another one to take them backwards.
A buffalo in the Flint Hills, grazing on wheat underneath a Wind Farm with a meadowlark flying over :D
Refect Kansas..humm..let’s see now. Ok, a picture of Fred with a sign saying ‘god hates fags’ and an anti-abortion sign (circle with slash mark). Yep, that’ll about get it.
I wish the KS Dept of Revenue would have had this epiphany before they designed and released the newest non-personalized plate design. Those are horrible, and a disgrace to the generally attractive plates we’ve had over the years.

Kansas – I think you are on to something there …
Months ago I have written a letter in of an ideal of allowing people to choose their own designs such as a photo of their love ones or a picture of reasonable quality put on tags by free enterprise business. The ideal could be a boost to the local economy at the same time saving the state money and give the state more revenue on registering personalize tags. Why stop with just letters and numbers, why not be more creative with pictures?
