Bob,

So you read all of the reports at <a href="http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/wg1-report.html" rel="nofollow">http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/wg1-report.html</a> and then concluded that anthropogenic global warming is BS?

Oh dear...

The world is coming to an end!

If we don't act now it will be too late!

The polar bears will be gone in 50 years!

We are reaching the tipping point!

Bad Weather = Global Warming!

Good Weather = Global Warming!

More Hurricans = Global Warming!

Less Hurricanes = Global Warming!

Ice is melting = Global Warming!

Ice is forming = Global Warming!

EVERYTHING = GLOBAL WARMING!

And what will we do to stop it?

Well, we will enact a complicated system of carbon credits with a cap and trade system. This should be in place within the next 10 years.

We will ratify the Kyoto Protocol which even now the a majority of the countries who did sign it have either failed to meet the treaty requirements or have given up all together.

LA LA LA LA LA

All the alarmism, all the wild claims of doom and gloom and what are the proposals?

They are nothing more than a power grab on energy resources which even if Global warming was being caused bu man would have little to no effect on stopping it.

Especially when we are so close to the tipping point!

'Several of us have worked with a lot of scientists for quite some time, including GW scientists."

Posted by: Catherine

WOW! Aren't you, and your group "special". /sarcasm OFF

Climate scientists, and the peer-review process are not perfect -- but their system is MUCH better than what the AGW skeptics and deniers use.

The skeptics and deniers "publish"(sic) at fossil-fuel, and right-wing funded web sites. They write inaccurate op-eds for the WSJ, and other right-wing media.

And they made the incredibly unscientific 'Swindle' film.

'Move to block emissions 'swindle' DVD'<a href="http://environment.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/story/0,,2064925,00.html" rel="nofollow">http://environment.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/story/0,,2064925,00.html</a>
"Sir John Houghton, former head of the Met Office, and Bob May, former president of the Royal Society, are among 37 experts who have called for the DVD to be heavily edited or removed from sale. The film, the Great Global Warming Swindle, was first shown on March 8, and was criticised by scientists as distorted and misleading....Dr Allen said: "What Martin Durkin and Channel 4 don't understand is the way science works. Science is about the arguments, not the people who make them."...The letter was coordinated by Bob Ward, a former press officer with the Royal Society. He said: "This isn't about censorship, it's a question of quality control.

We have no objection to the DVD being distributed if all the errors are corrected, but if they correct all the errors then the whole premise of the program will fall to pieces." "

'Swindle' debunked at,Global Warming Swindle Interview Pt1 8:43<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIjGynF4qkE" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIjGynF4qkE</a>

Global Warming Swindle Interview Pt2 9:57<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goDsc9IaSQ8" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goDsc9IaSQ8</a>

BTW Catherine, your long list of links did NOT refute the fact that Al Gore's AIT is scientifically accurate.

"Justice Burton found that "Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate". "

For Cosmos and others who have not worked directly with Global Warming scientists, but only want to believe certain things that make them feel important in life:

Several of us have worked with a lot of scientists for quite some time, including GW scientists. So people think that all Scientists (global warming included) are pure, untainted, and never have any hidden problems, issues, or agendas?

Misinterpretations of biological data:<a href="http://www.the-scientist.com/news/20040712/03/" rel="nofollow">http://www.the-scientist.com/news/20040712/03/</a>

How about Catherine not posting falsehoods?

'Convenient Untruths'<a href="http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/10/convenient-untruths/" rel="nofollow">http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/10/convenient-untruths/</a>
"Update 10/18/07: We are very disappointed that the Washington Post has declined to run an op-ed placing the alleged 9 'errors' in a proper scientific context, despite having run an extremely misleading news article last week entitled "UK Judge Rules Gore's Climate Film Has 9 Errors".

Last week, a UK High Court judge rejected a call to restrict the showing of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth (AIT) in British schools. The judge, Justice Burton found that "Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate" (which accords with our original assessment)."

'An 'error' is not the same thing as an error'<a href="http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2007/10/an_error_is_not_the_same_thing.php" rel="nofollow">http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2007/10/an_error_is_not_the_same_thing.php</a>

How about stopping scientists from blowing smoke at us by how they covered up their collusions on their GW modeling? How about stopping them from purposely ignoring or minimizing natural causes (astrophysical, geochemical, etc.)?

How about how the court judge decided Al Gore was blowing smoke to the public?<a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/11/AR2007101102134.html?wpisrc=newsletter" rel="nofollow">http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/11/AR2007101102134.html?wpisrc=newsletter</a>

A perspective on the amount of CO2 from a coal-fired plant,

''Clean' coal? What about the carbon?'<a href="http://www.sptimes.com/2007/09/29/Hillsborough/_Clean__coal_What_abo.shtml" rel="nofollow">http://www.sptimes.com/2007/09/29/Hillsborough/_Clean__coal_What_abo.shtml</a>
"If the carbon were captured at Polk Six [630 megawatt], it would then be converted into a liquid, explained Mark Hornick, plant manager of Tampa Electric's Polk Power Station. Even then, the plant would produce daunting quantities: 4-million gallons of liquid carbon dioxide every day.

It leaves an obvious and troubling question: Where do you put all that carbon dioxide?"

Three differences 'proudman':

The models we have been used have been run on past climates to calibrate them.

They have been accurate over the past several years as climate has begun to change.

You can and should run pilot plant trials on something like microalgae. That cannot be done on a planetary scale.

Our scientific methods allow for both lab-scale and observational (planetary) studies. I can show you that in my undergraduate biology text.

What are you to make of the experimental procedure to reduce the 'bad' emissions? Perhaps you continue to experiment until you can prove or disprove it.

Or maybe you could lower your standards and just run some computer models and call it proof. Works for the 'global warming is going to kill us all' crowd.

"So what are we to make of Sunflower Electric Power Corp.’s claims that its experimental algae-biofuels project at the proposed Holcomb plant would have rendered the facility almost carbon-neutral?Posted by Randy Scholfield"

This scheme only works if you are Al Gore. No one else can get away with carbon-neutral or carbon credit schemes like the GORACLE.

Enron employees helped invent the whole idea of "carbon credits".

enron??LOLHAHAHA

ask all those loyal employees who are homeless, after your heros stole all their pensions, how great enron is.

you are such a liar.you should be ashamed.you would sell out the future of our country for something that wouldn't even begin to benefit you. but, at the same time it will hurt the future your grand kids will have to live in.

you are the reason this country is screwed and getting more screwed as every day goes by.

here's another crappy little idea for you neo-Cons to think up a reason why we should give up one more right to bushco.

"WASHINGTON - As Congress debates new rules for government eavesdropping, a top intelligence official says it is time that people in the United States changed their definition of privacy."

This morning's Sunday Wichita EAGLE carry's several "articles" relating to the proposed coal-fed power plants out near Holcomb, Kansas, about ten miles straight west of Garden City.

One is a large two page advertisement on pages 4B and 5B paid for by "Know your power Kansas," which is cited to be "a coalition of concerned doctors, health organizations, educators, citizens, businesses and students ... funded by Chesapeake Energy Corporation."

This fact sheet contains a major amount of information citing the errors and outright lies told by proponents of the proposed coal-fed power plant. The fact sheet information appears to be generally correct as I study it.

On the other hand, Senator Sam Brownback, fresh back from a long stint to Iowa, still trying to find his way around the roads of Kansas ... frantically presents his "opinion" on this morning's Eagle's editorial page. He is UNBELIEVABLY SUPPORTING the massive, air polluting, underground aquifer-gulping coal fed power plant. Does he have any feelings for the health of Kansans?

I see many mistakes and exagerations in Brownback's rant but suffice it to say it reeks of potential campaign contributions from the "big coal" and "big ethanol" industries.

How Brownback can expect his "pro-coal" and "pro-ethanol" positions to get him elected as a future Kansas governor as is rumored to be his next goal ... is beyond me.

So, Brownback, I suggest you start looking for a small fundamentalist church in Mississippi with a preacher vacancy coming up. That might be your highest and best future opportunity.

Looks like the BIG POWER and BIG ETHANOL industries have declared war on Kansas and Kansans. Is this a new trend by big business to try to stomp rough shod on the very people they serve and receive their income from.

Remember Al Capp's Li'l Abner comic strip that was carried in the Wichita Beacon years ago? Somehow Li'l Abner would say "What's good for General Electric (or was it General Motors) has to be good for America." Seems to be a parallel here.

With our bought and paid for politicians wanting to rewrite the rules so Sunflower (there's an oxymoron) can build its pollution devices out west, I see them being built.

I can only hope we can vote the bums out prior to it happening.

Actually, there are at least TWO proven large-scale technologies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The first is "wind power." The second is "higher gas prices."

Wind power gets a bad rap because "the wind doesn't always blow." Well, duh. People's lights aren't on all the time, either. Just build a pumped-storage hydro plant and store the energy.

But if you're really interested in cutting carbon dioxide emissions, your biggest bang for the buck would be to raise the price of driving enough so that people think twice before hopping in the car and heading out on the freeway.
