Better news for Bush has not led to higher approval

Bushpress1The war in Iraq is going better, North Korea is dismantling its nuclear program, and the budget deficit is falling — all good news for President Bush, the Washington Post reported. Yet his job approval rating remains stuck at 33 percent. Why? It’s likely that much of the public has already made up its mind about Bush and Iraq, and it will take substantial, sustained good news for those views to change significantly.

Come on Phillip. This weeks reports that the United States is on the cusp of a recession and crude oil is at $100 a barrel. We have over 3,800 Americans who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don’t underestimate the American public. During this festive season – the cost of gas, impending recession and deaths of Americans is not forgotten by the American public. We have a lame duck President who’s own staff don’t like him or trust him much according to the last several books released by his recent top lieutenants.

That is because most Americans have awaken to the fact he is a LIAR and a CRIMINAL who got a bunch of people killed in a war that he started over false doctored intelligence for no other reason than to make his and Cheney’s family richer through the oil and Halliburton. Maybe that is why Americans hate him.

I was told by a sergeant while with the Sedgwick Co. S.O., “it only takes one “ah crap!” To wipe out a thousand “at-a-boy’s”. The problem is that whenever something to the good side happens it seems more like spin to divert attention from all the bad side. Iraq and the way we ended up there, Iran and the fear of the possibility of we will end up starting WWIII over it. Is the eight hundred pound Gorilla in the room always. Once seen as the root of evil, it does not matter how many dogs you pet or babies you kiss.

We used to call this “whining” not too long ago. That is, people who concentrate more on the negative aspects of any subject and then make it their life’s goal to be negative about anything or anyone.

There’s been a threat of WWIII ever since the “A-Bomb” was invented. This is nothing new.

There are kids to be raised, schools to be improved, sports teams to be supported, communities to get involved and planning for the future.

Or, one can spend all their waking ours complaining about something, somewhere or somebody.

All this negativity in the U.S. has certainly put a clamp on my psyche.

Some days I just want to kick people in the butt and tell them to stop their “bitchin’.”

Because Americans are tired of Bush and want to move on to something new and exciting. The war on terror and patriotism is so “last season”. And its depressing to think about people wanting to kill us. Americans have a very limited attention span these days, even for noble causes.

We want to get back to what we do best. Consuming.

    Lord help us.

    Right, outlander.

And who encourages Americans to ignore politics and just go shopping–the Corporatocracy, for which you CONs are the paid shills.

That’s exactly what Bush told America after the 9-11 attacks and the country asked what it could do.

“Go shopping,” Worst. President. Ever. said.

Politics in America is a sad state of affairs, but republicans set the tone when they spent 8 years attacking Clinton.

At some point, we need to bury the hatchet and find some kind of compromise. We all need to watch who we chose as candidates to represent our respective parties. We need to avoid the far left and far right and support candidates who can lead from a position nearer the middle. It does our nation no good to be lead by ideologues. Let’s elect people who represent ALL Americans.

Where would we be without knuckleheads like CapnAmerica to keep it silly around here?

Obviously, I don’t mean you personally, outlander.

I mean Rush O’Reilly–they get paid a king’s ransom for keeping the idiots like you voting against your best interests.

And it’s money well-spent. We’re the country with health care behind Cuba’s, with tax subsidies that go to millionaires (cf., Sam Brownback’s hobby farm), and the greatest income inequality of any industrialized nation.

But thanks to willing idiots like you, outlander, the Corporatocracy just keeps getting stronger.

Hmm.. Capn, I’m having difficulty telling that you didn’t mean it personally.

BTW, who first brought up the ridiculousness of our consumer society on this thread?

But thanks though for being so predictable. You are a rock. No one has to read CapnAmerica’s posts to know what he’s thinking (or more likely not thinking).

Outlander claims to point out “the ridiculousness of consumer society,” but he never fails to praise the corporation-in-a-suit that runs our country.

It was this obvious logical contradiction I was attempting to bring to your attention.

But keep on singing the praises of our Great Helmsman even while you condemn everything that he stands for . . .

Can you even write, CapnAmerica, without using unsupported generalizations? You know, Capn, some say that politics is all innuendo, half truths, dishonesty, and ends justify the means orientation.

    You fit right in bro.

Bottom line getting fatter on others backs and misfortune there outie?

On behalf of myself and the many of us who have paid the price, thanks alot.

The hatred of bush will be a thing that will long outlive that SOB.

God Bless our President Bush! Our presidents approval rating is a third higher than that of the do NOTHING congress. Why? Because Americans of all parties recognize we still do not have a 2008 FY budget from our worthless demorat majority. Instead, they waste time trying to STOP the government from working and leave federal positions EMPTY. That’s really great for America isn’t it.

Be thankful for all your good tidings!

And remember, 43rd President of the United States will go down in history with a HIGHER APPROVAL RATING THAN the demoRATly controlled 110th Congress!

    God Bless President Bush!

While it is good for the country that the war in Iraq is going better, it just highlights the fact that Bush (and his advisors) didn’t know what they were doing there for several years. Finally they put a leader in place, David Petraeus, who has a workable plan, and a real chance of success. Hindsight is wonderful, but if Bush’s team had managed the war properly from the outset, he would probably be riding high today. Now it’s too late for his personal popularity, though the progress will make the next President’s options better.

It is good news that Bush’s war is going less badly than it has been for so long. Let’s hope that the reduction on how badly Bush’s mismanaged occuption is going continues. Who knows, perhaps we can eventually get all the way up to zero.

What does everyone expect. Bush was a capitulator in Texas, he was a coward in the military, he has never stood for anything, so he falls for everything. Therefore, we have to pay because we all know that having democrats in office is worse, so we get the lamest, sorriest, weakest, and spineless leadership possible. This guy is the exact opposite of Reagan, who had a spine, stood for many things, therefore, didn’t fall for much, he had more vision than all the democrats and republicans put together, and was the strongest leader I have ever seen. You never know what you have till it’s gone, unless someone like Bush shows up.

    LOL

You know the phrase “damning by faint praise” don’t you? You guys just have no concept how far down Bush has dragged your GOP, that’s now about as stark as a corpse in rigor.

One man, Augustus Stupidus, against the Congressional body and you claim victory. Son, you are cheap, cheap, cheap. Today is your day for buyin’, not sellin’.LOL

Wow. A whole third?!? Whoda thunk THAT, I wonder.

Thanks for the laugh, that was *most* excellent.
