Time for Brownback to refocus on job

If Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback confirms what people close to him are saying by dropping out of the presidential race Friday, he will be making the right decision for his constituents. Doing well in Iowa was a must for Brownback, and his fundraising and campaign took a fatal blow with his third-place finish in August in Iowa’s GOP straw poll. He has given the bid his best shot for 10 long months now, raising the state’s profile along with his own via countless debates, interviews and appearances. But enough already, especially of his missedvotes in the Senate.

The pic always says it all with this guy.

I’m gonna miss these pics a little bit. Not much.

Heh heh I count 16 people in that room. And NONE of them are even looking at ol’ Sam! It looks like they’re watching a movie or something and he got up in front of them.

I’m going to give him credit for dropping out before receiving federal funds. That’s the honest thing to do and I thank him for that. Now, will he keep that promise NOT to run for reelection? Or will he be like tankerless todd who also promised to be gone by now but loves feeding at the public trough?

It may take a while to recover from the damage he’s done to the State’s image. But this too will pass. Look at the bright side, he’s eligible for 2 mil. $ in matching funds, that has got to be worth something.

I recall that when Deadeye Dick debated Edwards last election cycle, they barely shook hands before Deadeye said he never saw Edwards on the floor of the Senate.

Gee, I wonder if he says that to Brownback?

    Nah.

    IOKIYAR.

When Cheney said it, it was a lie of course. There are photographs of them both together in the Senate chamber.

Of course it was a lie.

Cheney lies, just to keep in practice . . .

Or he tells people to “go f*** yourself.”

WHITE HOUSE REFUSES TO GUARANTEE IT WON’T DESTROY EVIDENCE

    *****

Court may move against White House By PETE YOST, Associated Press WriterWed Oct 17, 5:50 PM ETA U.S. magistrate indicated Wednesday that a federal court may order the Bush administration to preserve copies of all White House e-mails, a move that a government lawyer argued strongly against.

U.S. Magistrate John M. Facciola asked Justice Department attorneys and a private group for suggested wording on a proposed court order in a lawsuit stemming from problems with the White House e-mail system.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington sued the Executive Office of the President last month, demanding that any e-mails lost from White House computer servers be restored from computer backup tapes.

In the weeks since the group filed its lawsuit, the private organization says it has been unable to get assurances from the government that all White House backup tapes containing copies of e-mails will be preserved. The group, known by the acronym CREW, also says it has been unable to get assurances that the White House is using the backup tapes only once

Raise the profile of Kansas? Give me a break! All Brownback did was reinforce the stereotype that Kansas is populated by nothing but morons and bigots. Even during the debates he made it a point to make sure that it was clear that he supported the morons that disavow proven scientific theories in favor of myths and fairy tales and also the hateful bigots that openly display their hatred toward anything and anyone that may be different such as gays. Brownback is a bigoted, hateful, religious extremist and sadly he represents way too many people that share the same dangerous values and beliefs. Brownback is the mirror of the mullahs and imams that cause so many righties to wet the bed at night with their wishes for a theocratic form of government.

Brownback is a phoney; he is not a regious fundamentalist nor is he a conservative. He was a man who thought he had stumbled onto a gimmick which would propel him to the highest postion in the land. He was eight years too late.

That’s quite observant “need a break for low.” I made the same comment months ago, that some of the out of state transplants to Kansas are the worst posters on the WE Blog.————-

I also made an observation about Brownback is now that he has raised campaign funds seeking the Presidency, does he get to add those funds to his own campaign “War Chest” to run for Senate? No one appeared to know, so the question remains unanswered.

If he can keep the funds, perhaps Brownback is smarter than most people give him credit for.

Good point. Why should he have to raise all the funds he needs for a re-election run at the Senate when he can socialize the costs?

It is common knowledge that when you drive down a four lane road, or divided highway in Kansas, or one of their few interstates -

    Slower traffic keeps left.

They must have that posted in the outhouse behind the one room school houses. Because all slow Kansas people stay left. If you want to zip through Kansas stay in the right hand lane.

I’m thinking all the Repub. Pres. longshot candidates will stay in until they get matching funds, then kick them over to Giulani, or the mormon, since the repubs. can’t get the donations like the dems. can.

“A candidate may satisfy eligibility requirements and submit private contributions for matching payments any time after January 1 of the year before a Presidential general election. Actual payments are not made, however, until after January 1 of the Presidential election year.”

    http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/pubfund.shtml#anchor688095

All I can determine FOR SURE is that payments are not made until next January. I can’t find where the spending to this point won’t meet eligibility requirements and Brownback will be able to receive matching funds EVEN THO he is no longer a candidate!

There is so much corruption in politics today! I’m very ashamed.
