“Only the total elimination of industrial emissions will succeed in limiting climate change to a 2°C rise in temperatures, according to computer analysis of climate change. Anything above this target has been identified as “dangerous” by some scientists, and the limit has been adopted by many policymakers.

The researchers say their study highlights the shortcomings of governmental plans to limit climate change.”More at link.

Blackwater Draws Weapons on US Soldiers

Oct. 15, 2007 issue – The colonel was furious. “Can you believe it? They actually drew their weapons on U.S. soldiers.” He was describing a 2006 car accident, in which an SUV full of Blackwater operatives had crashed into a U.S. Army Humvee on a street in Baghdad’s Green Zone. The colonel, who was involved in a follow-up investigation and spoke on the condition he not be named, said the Blackwater guards disarmed the U.S. Army soldiers and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they could disentangle the SUV. His account was confirmed by the head of another private security company. Asked to address this and other allegations in this story, Blackwater spokesperson Anne Tyrrell said, “This type of gossip has led to many soap operas in the press.”

If this is true- and I suspect it is not- why is the media covering it up? This would be big news. The reason I suspect it is false is because the US military is not willingly going to hand over their weapons to anybody without killing them first.

Abolish Electoral College & Special Interest Financing of Campaigns

Finally some sensible talk about a failed system that deserves serious attention by the voters. The electoral system eliminates Kansas voters from any serious impact on the national elections. AND it effectively eliminates third party candidates. The two party system also stinks a little bit.

    Excellent viewpoint:http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2007/10/12/electoral_college/index.html

Go with:Campaigns go too long, spend way too much money and do not necessarily provide the best available. It is up to us to stop the nonsense at the voting booths on the 2008 ballot. Not voting sends the wrong message and changes nothing.

Lets’s demand a new system and vote in Fair Vote America : http://www.fairvote.org/irv/
Demand a change on the 2008 ballot.

The big money candidates are more beholden than ever to corporate special interests due to the very long nature of campaigns. How do they have time to do the job they were elected to do? We need public financing of campaigns. Citizens cannot afford special interest money campaigns for it is the citizens that get left out.

Who would be against Public Funding? The special interest money providers and their bought and paid for politicians!

    Another Hillary Flip Flop

Clinton Reverses, Says She Would Negotiate with Iran’s LeadersFriday, October 12, 2007

CANTERBURY, N.H. — Hillary Rodham Clinton called Barack Obama naive when he said he’d meet with the leaders of Iran without precondition.

But her comments Thursday on the issue prompted him to question whether she’s changed her mind.

During a Democratic presidential debate in July, Obama said he would be willing to meet without precondition in the first year of his presidency with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea.

Standing with him on stage, Clinton said she would first send envoys to test the waters and called Obama’s position irresponsible and naive.

But asked about it Thursday by a voter, the New York senator said twice that she, too, would negotiate with Iran “with no conditions.”

Sorry it is long be interesring to read and ponder.THE SPOILING ATTACKGrowth Strategies, Jun 2007
The United States has now spent four years fighting in Iraq. The best that can be said about the war at the moment is that it is a strategic stalemate. The worst that can be said is that the United States has failed in meet its strategic objectives and that failure represents defeat.

In considering the situation, however, one’s attention is drawn to a strange paradox that has been manifest in American foreign policy since World War II. On the one hand, the Untied States has consistently encountered strategic stalemate or defeat in particular politico-military operations. Outcomes appeared to be disappointing if not catastrophic in Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Iran and Iraq. Yet, over the same period of time, US global power, on the whole, has surged.

This general paradox is explained at http://www.stratfor.com by George Friedman, who believes there is an underlying order to US foreign policy that makes the apparent chaos of policymaking understandable and rational.

    SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT

There are three general explanations for the paradox of military stalemate yet growing US influence and power in the world. One is that US power is more economic than military; another is that the US has been extraordinarily fortunate; a third is that public convulsions notwithstanding, these conflicts never involved fundamental national interests.

If we apply these analyses to Iraq, three schools of though emerge. The first says that the Iraq war is unnecessary and even harmful; the second says that the war is essential and that defeat or stalemate could be catastrophic; and the third says that the outcome will not be decisive.

    AdvertisementWHICH IS IT?

Let’s begin with something that is obviously true, writes Friedman. When we consider Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Iran and even Iraq, it is clear that the United States devoted only a tiny fraction of the military power it could have brought to bear if it wished. Clearly, it was prepared on some level to accept stalemate and defeat.

In other words, the United States has consistently entered into conflicts in which its level of commitment was extremely limited, in which either victory was not the strategic goal or the mission eventually was redefined to accept stalemate, and in which even defeat was deemed preferable to a level of effort that might avert it. Public discussion on all sides was apoplectic both during these conflicts and afterward, yet American global power was not materially affected in the long run.

    THE SPOILING ATTACK

This appears to make no sense until we introduce a military concept into the analysis: the spoiling attack. The spoiling attack is an offensive operation; however, its goal is not to defeat the enemy but to disrupt enemy offensives – in effect, to prevent a defeat at the hands of the enemy. The success of the spoiling attack is not measured in terms of enemy capitulation, but the degree to which it has forestalled successful enemy operations.

If we consider the examples cited above and apply the concept of the spoiling attack, then the conversion of American defeats into increased US global power no longer appears quite as paradoxical. In Korea, spoiling Communist goals created breathing space elsewhere for the United States, and increased tension levels between China and Russia. In Cuba, containing Fidel Castro was, relative to cost, as useful as destroying him. In Vietnam, frustrating the North’s strategic goals for a decade allowed the Sino-Soviet dispute to ripen, thus opening the door for Sino-US entente even before the war ended. In Iran, being ousted mattered only if the Soviets replaced the US, which of course it did not.

If we apply the concept to Iraq, it is possible to understand the reasons behind the size of the force deployed (which, while significant, still is limited relative to the full range of options brought to bear in World War II) and the obvious willingness of the Bush administration to court military disaster. The invasion four years ago has led to the Sunnis and Shia turning against each other in direct conflict. Therefore, it could be argued that just as the United States won the Cold War by exploiting the Sino-Soviet split and allying with Mao Zedong, so too the path to defeating the jihadists is not a main attack, but a spoiling attack that turns Sunnis and Shia against each other. This was certainly not the intent of the Bush administration in planning the 2003 invasion; it has become, nevertheless, an unintended and significant outcome.

As with the invisible hand in economics, so too do politicians pursue immediate ends without necessarily being aware of how they contribute to overall outcomes. The incongruities of stalemate and defeat on the one side and growing US power on the other must be reconciled. The liberal and conservative arguments explain things only partially. But the idea that the United States rarely fights to win can be explained. It is not because of a lack of moral fiber, as conservatives would argue; nor a random and needless belligerence, as liberals would argue. Rather, it is the application of the principle of spoiling operations – using limited resources not in order to defeat the enemy but to disrupt and confuse enemy operations.

Does anyone else see a correlation between Operation Orchard (don’t if that is official) and the Bent Spear incident at Barksdale Air Force Louisiana?

The Israelis bombed a suspected weapons site in Syria. The only country to ‘jump up’ was North Korea. Now the story is that the ‘weapons’ were shipped in to Syria (in route to Iran) FROM North Korea. And the story just faded away.

Israel is said to have ‘jaw dropping’ evidence. They wanted to strike in July and the US held them off. Then on the labor day weekend a bent spear incident? W-80-1 warheads? The axis of evil all wrapped up into on convenient incident – North Korea, Syria and Iran. Had the broken spear not occurred, any ideas what might have happened? Why DID the broken spear happen? One of our most secure items – nuclear devices – and the movement of – some of the most classified information America holds was leaked. Any ideas why?

Have you noticed that the “top tier” candidates are running their mouths more and more, yet saying less and less? How about a candidate whose message has never wavered, is the truth and is backed up by a flawless voting record.

You decide; a bought and paid for shill, or a constitutionalist who proves through actions what kind of person he is.

Military killed 19 insurgents, along with 15 children. That’s a hell of a ratio! That is why a military action is one of the worst ways to handle terrorism, in fact that is exactly what they want us to do! It would be better to handle them like they are a very well armed gang of Criminals, focus on the bad guys and safeguard the innocent people. The uncommitted to the terrorists cause could not care less if the terrorists are killed. Perhaps even happy about it, but while killing the terrorists also innocent
Bystanders are killed. Then the uncommitted no longer see the Terrorists as great of a threat as they do those killing the terrorists. Also the average Iraqis does not see the Insurgents as Terrorists they see them as freedom fighters. It kind of makes it a mute point to say we are they fighting terrorism when we end up killing Iraqis both Children and insurgents.

Joe what I was saying it that just above the article that I read of the air strike was the one about a bomb going off on a playground planted by terrorists.
There were two boys killed and seventeen wounded in the terrorists attack. You asked how many children were killed by the insurgents? At to the grand total of all Iraqis killed by an attack of terrorism I am not sure if anyone is tracking that in a separate column from total Iraqis killed since the invasion.

Now I have a question for you?
Are one that believes the invasion was needed so we could have a base in the middle east to operate out of for farther military actions?

Here are excerpts from the Nobel Committee’s award to Al Gore:

“October 12, 2007Nobel Peace Prize Excerpts
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESSFiled at 5:32 a.m. ET

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Excerpts from the citation awarding the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.

    ——

Indications of changes in the earth’s future climate must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth’s resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world’s most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states.

    ——

Through the scientific reports it has issued over the past two decades, the IPCC has created an ever-broader informed consensus about the connection between human activities and global warming. Thousands of scientists and officials from over one hundred countries have collaborated to achieve greater certainty as to the scale of the warming. Whereas in the 1980s global warming seemed to be merely an interesting hypothesis, the 1990s produced firmer evidence in its support. In the last few years, the connections have become even clearer and the consequences still more apparent.

    ——

Al Gore has for a long time been one of the world’s leading environmentalist politicians. He became aware at an early stage of the climatic challenges the world is facing. His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change. He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted.

    ——

By awarding the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 to the IPCC and Al Gore, the Norwegian Nobel Committee is seeking to contribute to a sharper focus on the processes and decisions that appear to be necessary to protect the world’s future climate, and thereby to reduce the threat to the security of mankind. Action is necessary now, before climate change moves beyond man’s control.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/world/AP-Nobel-Peace-Citation.html?pagewanted=print

    Joe Williams,

The Nobel Committee disagrees with you. As stated above regarding Al Gore,

“He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted.”

If you want to make a case for Ralph Nader, let’s see it.

    GMC70,

Snigger away. It’s all the comfort you’ll get today. And if you want to diminish your stature like a Wingnut schoolboy, that’s your right.

Oh, by the way, the Norwegians aren’t impressed by your smug dismissal of the committee’s independence. They take it rather seriously, actually.

“The committee is formally independent even of the Storting, and since 1901 it has repeatedly emphasized its independence. However, as can be seen from the composition of the committee, during the first decades it was closely linked not only to the Norwegian political establishment in general, but also to the Government. This was changed in 1936, when the prize was awarded to the German peace advocate and Jew, Carl von Ossietzky. That decision was, as expected, highly controversial and caused sharp reactions from Hitler himself. The Norwegian Foreign Minister and a former Prime Minister both had withdrawn from the Committee’s discussions in order to emphasize that the award was not an act of Norwegian foreign policy. The year after, the Norwegian Storting formally decided to ban members of the Government from the Committee. A second change was made in 1977, when the Storting decided that its members should not participate in nonparliamentary committees appointed by the Storting itself. Since then the Storting has generally appointed former MPs and other people with political knowledge and experience to the Committee.”

OMG! You want to compare Gore to Nader? Holy Shit!

You have no idea about Nader do you. He is the guy that founded the Environmental Protection Agency for heaven sakes. That is much more profound than Gore could ever do.

Other environmental records (not counting his consumer and public safety record, which is profound)

Safe Drinking Water Act, National Air Pollution Controls, Clean Air Act and on and on and on.

Other prominent things that Nader has founded that has enormous impact. OSHA, FOIA, CSPC.

People predict that Ralph Nader alone saved over 6 million lives.

You have the guy that founded the Environmental Protection Agency, Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and numerous other environmental legislation. Then you have Gore who did a film on Global Warming?

    WTF! Gore can’t even compare.

Al Gore is a religious nut case. When you have somebody advocating that he can save the world, only if you give him the power and money, then you are seeing a very dangerous man. He’s a crack!

I’m not trying to dismiss everything Gore has done. He has bring the debate about Global Warming to a top priority level, but that’s it. He is doing more damage to the cause than trying to find solutions.

But the religious left just can’t see that he is nothing but a publicity hound and looking for trophies for his legacy. He cares about that more than the environment. He’s your Jesus! So enjoy!

But smart and unbiased people will know that Ralph Nader is 100X the man and environmental activist than Albert Gore Jr.

You obviously lack an ear for a writer’s voice. About the only think WS Clark and I share are our political convictions and a delight in antagonizing you. Read our posts, side by side: sentence structure, vocabulary, and voice are nothing alike.

Nice way for you to try to avoid dealing with my criticisms, though. Way to go, ksgrmalkin!

No shock that you admire Michelle Malkin: you clearly like being told to think, and Michelle Malkin clearly likes telling people what to think–even when what she’s saying are lies.

As far as climate change, what NASA reports in particular are you referring to, ksgrmalkin? Something like the following?

    http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2007/05/nasa_chief_cool.html

Michael Griffin AFFIRMS man’s role in Global Warming–he just claims not to know whether it is something to worry about. Is THAT what you meant, ksgrmalkin?

    Joe Williams,

Nader has done lots of commendable things. But founding the EPA isn’t one of them–at least according to this official history.

    http://www.epa.gov/history/topics/epa/15c.htm

Nader may have helped, and may have helped a lot. But “founded?” Get your facts straight, Joe Williams.

And to take it a step further, Nader was an actor on the national state. Gore’s activism takes place on a global scale.

$895Average monthly Social Security benefit check for retired workers in 2002. This compares with $834 for disabled workers and $861 for widows and widowers. (Source: soon-to-be-released Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2003.)

$989Average monthly Social Security benefit check for retired workers in New Jersey — highest among states. Connecticut and Michigan followed, at $981 and $964, respectively. (Source: soon-to-be-released Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2003.)

$9,786Average income for people 65 and over in 2001 that came from Social Security payments. This compares with an average total income of $22,210.

BTW, Chas can go to the SS Administration and request the annual statement we all get – at any time. Even if he worked as a young man, before he was exempt, it will be reflected on the report.

And please Chas, don’t take MY word for it, I don’t claim to be an expert. Personal finance is too important to take just any Tom, Dick, or Captains word for it. Any financial planner will tell you this.

“If they are going to award a champion of the environment, it should have been Ralph Nader. But we all know the left hate Nader.”

Am I “left,” Joe? You see, I voted to make the man president. . twice (’96 & ‘00). And I find the Dem attacks on Nader tiresome. . . it ignores the huge degree of (justified) disenchantment with Gore that made Nader’s popularity inevitable. There’s also a lost lesson: it wasn’t the loony left that defected to Nader; it was a coalition of the disaffected–disparate, contentious–who had enough of corporate politics as usual.

I also agree that Nader did a HUGE amount for the environment, long before it became Gore’s calling card. The Clean air/water acts were largely a result of his efforts.

Unfortunatlely, the man’s legacy tends to be stupidly reduced to electoral politics and arguments about 2000 these days. It’s unfortunate.

IRS says rich getting richer: report 2 hours, 30 minutes ago

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The richest one percent of Americans earned a postwar record of 21.2 percent of all income in 2005, up from 19 percent a year earlier, reflecting a widening income disparity among different classes in the nation, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing new Internal Revenue Service data.

ADVERTISEMENTThe data showed that the fortunes of the bottom 50 percent of Americans are worsening, with that group earning 12.8 percent of all income in 2005, down from 13.4 percent the year before, the paper said.

This is true. But what is being made of Turkey’s raids into Iraq? The ONLY place in Iraq not saturated with insurgents and violence.

And with our congress doing its best to make an enemy of Turkey with the pointless rehashing of pre-WWI activities. What purpose does that serve? Does not the congress know about our bases and supply lines in Turkey? Does not the congress see Turkey pulling its ambassador to America as a warning sign and a first step? Nah, lets endanger our troops in Iraq further.

Why was there no reaction other than Syria and North Korea in reference to Operation Orchard? What was the final destination of six stealth cruise missiles with W80-1 warheads? Why was top secret intelligence leaked to the press that sprouted the bent spear? Why was it a bent spear and not a Pinnacle? Have our journalists lost the stomach for investigation? Were they told to shut up? Did the servicemen revolt?

Why was a private third party called in to investigate the bent spear BEFORE the air force investigation was even completed?

Why does no one care? Why isn’t this the lead story for every media outlet? Is America asleep? Are they so easily distracted by Al Gore and Brittney Spears that a nuclear incident and an attack on a sovereign nation (supposedly sanctioned by the US) a non-story? What has happened to us?

CANTERBURY, New Hampshire (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton called Barack Obama naive when he said he’d meet with the leaders of Iran without precondition. But her comments Thursday on the issue prompted him to question whether she’s changed her mind.

Wishy-Washy Hillery:First she said there were WMD, then she said there weren’t anyFirst she was for the war, then against the war.Now she is for the war.First she wanted $5,000 per American baby,Now she doesn’t.

    Picture it now:

Pentegon detects incoming nuke.Hillary’s military aid opens the black box:

First she wants to push the button, then she doesn’t.No wait, should she push the button now, or should she wait?

Should she have a two page type written statement first on “WHY” she pushed the button, or wait.

Should she have a two page type written statement first on “WHY NOT” she didn’t push the button, or wait.

    Nic-switching Troll–

Usually I don’t bother to answer cowards who can’t post under a single nic, but

    1. I gave Chas this information BEFORE he told me he had opted out of SS

    2. I was basing that figure on people I know who draw SS rather than national averages. Apparently, they made more and paid more in than the average.

SS is supposed to replace about 1/3 of your earned income in a typical year near retirement for an middle-class earner (up to 97 K in income).

Your advice that Chas get a SS statement and a consult on this is sound.

When CF2K said you lacked the reasoning skills to deal with rational argument, you instantly confirmed it by suggesting that CF is Clark.

    1. As JR rightly pointed out, CF has been posting here from the beginning of the WEBlog. He was the one that told ME about it fact, and I’ve been here forever.

Your contention that CF only started posting “after WSC left” is completely wrong. CF was posting before, during and after Clark was posting.

    2. W S Clark posts over his real name. CF doesn’t. Why would Clark try to hide his identity under a sock puppet when he doesn’t even hide his real identity with a nic-name?

It doesn’t make good non-sense, which apparently why you believe it.

A normal person would look at the evidence and simply say, “I was wrong.”

But since no right-winger has ever said, “I was wrong” since the beginning of time, I’m not holding my breath.

In fact, when someone like David Kay (weapons inspector in Iraq) says, “I was wrong,” we know immediately that he isn’t a right-winger . . .

I am not so sure on the genocide resolution.

Lynn Brewer, author of Confessions of an Enron Executive: A Whistleblower’s Story, has become a globally known authority on what went wrong at Enron. Since 2002, she has given close to 200 speeches around the world. At $13,000 per appearance, she has earned hundreds of thousands of dollars for her company, The Integrity Institute. In her presentations, Brewer recounts the wrongs she witnessed at Enron — a company that grossly overstated its earnings and collapsed into bankruptcy six years ago — and exhorts her listeners to act ethically in all of their dealings. In recognition of her bravery in speaking out as a whistle-blower, the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, is featuring Brewer in an exhibition devoted to freedom of speech.

STORY: Sherron Watkins’ fame helped Brewer get attention

A salute from the people who give out the Nobel Peace Prize is a heady achievement, but what makes Brewer’s story truly remarkable is that she appears to have fabricated significant portions of her tale, starting with whether she was ever an Enron “executive” and extending to her claims of being a “whistle-blower.”

Instead, a USA TODAY investigation, involving interviews with two dozen former colleagues, reveals Brewer to be an astute self-promoter who parlayed an undistinguished 32-month stint as an Enron employee into a lucrative career in the corporate ethics industry. She appears to have succeeded by modeling herself after another woman regarded as an Enron whistle-blower, Sherron Watkins.

Do you have any sense of reality at all, Kansas?

Are you really a disabled vet?

Did you really fly over Iraq?

Were you really stationed in Turkey and Israel and Germany?

Were you ever really in the Air Force?

Do your wounds really “pop open”?

Did you really take couses in bio-environmental engineering? I never even heard of bio-environmental engineering.

We know Chas is telling the truth because several of us met him in person. We don’t know anything about you except the crap you post about yourself here.

Oh, and Kansas… you might want to coordinate your war stories a little better… I remember one day on the Blog you posted that you were disabled, but not because of Military….

And then just a few days ago… You posted how you were disabled when missiles attacked the plane you were flying in over Iraq….

And you have been attacking JR since he has been back… BUT, he has logged in several times, saying very pointedly that he was using his mother’s puter, cause his was broken, and that a friend of his was building him a new one… And yet, you carry on as if he is somebody NEW or something….

Better get your fact checker working a little better there, big guy!!

Some will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed that a UFO with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well-known incident that many say has been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and government.

However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of March, 1948 — roughly nine months after that historic day — George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Dan Quayle were born.

JR not knowing WS as you appear to I can only judge him by his actions on this blog. You and farmie might have used the grmie but the Germie is WS in and out.

No matter I really don’t think you or anyone else on here is WS but CF comes close. By the way if I refer to you as JR even when we disagree strongly why is it alright for you, Chas and farmie to put names on others. Is this a liberal privilege or what?

JR if we agreed on everything it would be boring to spend time on this blog. Anything I have said to you today I said out of genuine concern. You said last night you had been hurt on a job and I really thought retraining would help. If I was out of line I apologize. Living with pain everyday is hard.

We’ll live to fight again I’m sure. Don’t let it get out that I have a heart. It would be so hard for Chas to handle.

It’s okay ksgrm, we know Chas is lying about who he really is.

It’s all part of the Libs quest to out people on an anonymous blog.

J R wants to ruin your business.

    Chas wants to sue everyone.

Capn wants the official title of Blog President.

Steven Davis is a wannabe Blog psychologist who can’t even spell the terms of the profession properly.

What can you expect from the sewing circle of Libs who email each other so they can get their stories “straight.”

    Yes well,

Thank you for the thinly veiled insult both to me and my intelligence.

I have one for you. Not so veiled.

How in the world can anyone confuse WS with CF?

I’ve an advantage there I guess. I got to see both posters from their very start. They are nothing alike. I’m not gonna talk about WS because he isn’t here.

I wasn’t trying to get you to talk about WS and am dropping this entire line which I actually started in jest and it got out of control. I was putting Chas and CF on because they take themselves too seriously.

    Nuff said.

kSgRM… I have already posted as to when I started hanging around this Blog… I believe it pre-dates your time here, if I remember your post from yesterday… Why dont you go look it up, or MAKE Kansas post it for you… since I told him AGAIN Earlier today….

If you cant read upthread, then maybe you dont really want to know, cause it would make you out to be a liar….

And ummmm NO I dont have green eyes… never had em… never will…. My eyes are a very dark brown… like a good little Cherokee… well, at least 3/8 Cherokee….

  271. Posted October 12, 2007 at 6:25 pm | Permalink

Ya know, Grm, you are just plain stupid to try to make ME into WS… especially when I honestly believe that you know better… All you have to do is check a phone directory for WS Clark…

I bet you could even CALL him, and he would probably tell you who he is…

See, I dont have any bi-racial grandchildren… not that there is anything wrong with that, but mine just arent… I have FIVE grandchildren… and wont have any more…

And none of them live here in this town, as do Clark’s…

You just went and barked up the totally wrong tree…. And you found NOTHING… other than what you have already been told before…

I guess that makes it YOUR turn to either admit you have been VERY WRONG here, or else just BUTT OUT!!

  273. Posted October 12, 2007 at 6:31 pm | Permalink

Kansas, what possible purpose would knowing that serve you??? Huh??? It would tell you nothing… would not make me less of a Cherokee than any other Cherokee… So, what purpose is it, other than your normal use of deflection???

State your REASON for asking, and I MIGHT tell you….

  274. Posted October 12, 2007 at 6:32 pm | Permalink

BTW, the Cherokee prefer to refer to themselves as a Nation… not a Tribe… You might want to watch how you talk about them…

  275. Posted October 12, 2007 at 6:41 pm | Permalink

Well Chas, I figured anyone claiming to be 3/8ths Cherokee would know what band they came from. After all, one-fourth blood is usually all that is required for someone to be admitted into a Native American tribe or nation.

You might be missing out on some Casino profits there Chas. If you knew what band of Cherokees you derived, you might be sitting pretty with all sorts of undiscovered benefits.

  276. Posted October 12, 2007 at 6:42 pm | Permalink

BTW, the Cherokee prefer to refer to themselves as a Nation… not a Tribe…

Where I come from they call themselves tribes (of which there are many) which together form a Nation. Now I am speaking of the Choctaw and Chickasaw but why would the Cherokee be any different? As a matter of fact the current Chief of the Choctaw Nations is very plain about which tribe he comes from.

  277. Posted October 12, 2007 at 6:46 pm | Permalink

Thats right Hud… BUT, not so with the Cherokee… Ummmm Kansas, I am NOT part of the Cherokee Nation that has its capital in Talequah, OK… That would make me part of the Northern Nation… So, NO, I am not eligible to become a member of the OK Cherokee Nation… the one with the financial benefits… I checked that out many years ago…

Order denies advanced funding for coal-fired plantBy RON JENKINS, Associated Press Writer

Looks like Oklahoma killed a coal burning plant which was scheduled not that far from Kansas.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – State regulators on Thursday signed orders denying requests of utility companies to raise customer rates in advance to pay for construction of a proposed coal-fired power plant in northern Oklahoma.

    JR–

While you were gone, JM-Republi-Kansas was busted several times.

Stephen Davis got him the first time: he pointed out that RepubliKansas was referring to events that occured before he said he started reading the WEB.

I got him by showing that both he and JM routinely posted between 2:30 and 5 in the morning, the only regular post-er to do so.

I guess it’s hard to sleep when one is doped up and feeling guilty.

Now again, the troll has slipped up by posting that his serious disabling injury occured in the line of duty. He repeatedly said it was after he was out of the air force before.

He refuses to explain this contradiction.

He also almost got banned when he stole J M Walker’s nic. In fact, I believe the only reason he wasn’t banned is because the editors don’t know how to ban him. “I was / was not injured in the military” Kansas has admitted as much already.

Setting up an e-mail account couldn’t be easier these days.

Complain about the Capn Mary. He is the key player in all of this and started this fiasco.

Ask anyone on the blog, the Capn was the first instigator of all this blog trauma.

Just like today, he makes up stories , convinces everyone they are true, then repeats them here and as off topic in other threads for no other purpose than to attack people.

That’s the only thing the Capn knows how to do, attack people. He attacks people not of his ideology. He attacks people here on the blog. I feel sorry for his wife to live with such a biggoted person. That is, if he’s still married, wouldn’t surprise me that he got a divorce. Who would want to live with such a maniac.

  323. Steven Davis
    Posted October 12, 2007 at 9:11 pm | Permalink

I hate to make this the Kansas, all the time, Thread – but wish to take a different tack.

I think it is an empirical question if we can believe anything this man (if he even is one) says at all. So my recounting of what he says may be all lies. But, if he is lying, it is possible that his lies reflect the world that he wishes it were.

He says he has volunteered in hospitals, public schools with disabled children, and a whole host of commendable acts. These could be untruths, but they might be true, and in the former case, I submit it is the reality Kansas would like to see.

So, either way truth or untruth, this man wishes he was (or has been) useful in some ways. The preceding is a primary hypothesis in my thinking here.

If my assumption is correct that he needs to be useful, isn’t it terribly sad that being a provocative troll is the best he can manage in meeting his needs.

The Eds have clearly tried to ban him from being here. He has fought that and continues to post. It is pretty much the same thing every day, as Mary notes above.

So, the question is, and I am hoping for some kind of coherent answer, but would understand if I don’t get one. What is it, Kansas, that you get out of posting here?

The above reminds me of a quote often attributed to Freud – “women, what do they want?”

And I know there will be those on my side of the aisle, and from the other, who will scoff at me for this question. I think everybody needs to feel useful in some way.

I would be glad to leave this venue, if you could find something useful to do with your life.

Boring…..very boring! Everytime I visit this blog, there is rarely any thoughtful or stimulating discussion, just lots of name calling and stone throwing. Has anyone here actually moved beyond their middle school glory days?

  325. Posted October 12, 2007 at 9:40 pm | Permalink

My thoughts exactly KenS. I was doing quite well discussing the issues.

But when you get constantly bombarded by left by being called a troll or some sort of racist then one can only take so much crap.

Those of the left can just stop what they are doing and just discuss issues.

However, when they use their dogpiling tactics, I’m going to come out and there will be some scares by the time I’m done.

It’s very simple, the left needs to shut their collective mouths about calling people they disagree with as trolls, nic switchers, racists and etc and just post.

But they won’t stop and keep on doing.

Just look at Steven Davis useless post about me trying to give some sort of psycho analysis. I’m sure real psychologists are laughing their butts off about now.

I have stated many times what I want to do. I want to discuss the issues. A few times a couple of days have gone by where I can do such.

Then out of the blue some poster that hasn’t bothered me in awhile like XXX will pop up out of the blue and make a personal attack. Or PMom. Most likley, it is the regulars, Capn, J R, Chas or Steven Davis who will pop off some remark totally irrelevant to the discussion.

Do I get down and dirty with them? You bet I do and I usually come out the winner because they can’t take what they dish out.

If they want to discuss the issues, then I’m all for it.

But the moment one of the gets out of line and starts yelling idiot, racist, nic switcher or troll, I’m going to be all over them.

It’s their call. They can discuss or do the mindless ad hominem game.

I’m surprised Steven Davis hasn’t figured that out.

The Libs on this blog have a proven track record of name calling and trying to out people or insult them.

They have lost all ability to discuss issues.

They have yet to prove it to me.

  326. J R
    Posted October 12, 2007 at 9:43 pm | Permalink

There is one and only one person responsible.

Notice that though that person has been banned, he only volunteers to leave if a handful of opposing posters also left. And then of course he’d just come back under another nic.

    That’s telling.

There are not sufficient posters here with his ideals. SO he invents them. In doing that he admits in a cowardly fashion that his ideals have lost in this arena and his only recourse is to stack the deck or drive opposing posters away.

“Do I get down and dirty with them? You bet I do and I usually come out the winner because they can’t take what they dish out.”

Sorry, that is irrefutable proof on how very clueless you are. Good night.

You can play at being as many people as you can keep up with. I imagine you already wear out keyboards trying.

But you are in the end. One.

And I think you sense a movement building against your behavior here.

I’ve stood up for the rights of the most controversial posters to be able to post here. But I too am committed to the idea that you either reform or you find some place else to haunt.

This is getting ridiculous. It’s the same old crap from the same retards every night. Guys, I hate to say it, but there are several of you who need to just leave. You don’t bring anything to this blog and nobody has any respect for you. You spend all night on this blog hurling insults behind your anonymous nics like little cowards. If you were real men and you have such built up hatred, you’d settle this like men.

I feel so sorry for you…you obviously don’t have lives and don’t have anybody who cares about you or you wouldn’t be spending most of every night on this stupid blog. What a hopeless lot of nothings you are.

You know who you are. Please for a change do what’s best for everybody. Take what little is left of what passes for you as dignity and just leave.

    What a joke you’ve become.

WASHINGTON – While the military “quagmire” in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began.

Though no federal statistics are kept on murders or any other crimes committed by illegal aliens, a number of groups have produced estimates based on data collected from prisons, news reports and independent research.

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That’s 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.

    (Story continues below)

But the carnage wrought by illegal alien murderers represents only a fraction of the pool of blood spilled by American citizens as a result of an open border and un-enforced immigration laws.

While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That’s 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001.

While no one – in or out of government – tracks all U.S. accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year’s 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens.

A report by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Study found 20 percent of fatal accidents involve at least one driver who lacks a valid license. In California, another study showed that those who have never held a valid license are about five times more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than licensed drivers.

Statistically, that makes them an even greater danger on the road than drivers whose licenses have been suspended or revoked – and nearly as dangerous as drunk drivers.

King also reports eight American children are victims of sexual abuse by illegal aliens every day – a total of 2,920 annually.

Based on a one-year in-depth study, Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute of Atlanta estimates there are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each. She analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants.

As the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. increases, so does the number of American victims.

According to Edwin Rubenstien, president of ESR Research Economic Consultants, in Indianapolis in 1980, federal and state correctional facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens. But at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in all U.S. jails and prisons.

While the federal government doesn’t track illegal alien murders, illegal alien rapes or illegal alien drunk driving deaths, it has studied illegal aliens incarcerated in U.S. prisons.

In April 2005, the Government Accountability Office released a report on a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:

    The 55,322 illegal aliens studied represented a total of 459,614 arrests – some eight arrests per illegal alien;
    Their arrests represented a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses – some 13 offenses per illegal alien;
36 percent had been arrested at least five times before.
“While the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, (something you or I would probably do if we were in their place), it is also a fact that a disproportionately high percentage of illegal aliens are criminals and sexual predators,” states Peter Wagner, author of a new report called “The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration.” “That is part of the dark side of illegal immigration and when we allow the ‘good’ in we get the ‘bad’ along with them. The question is, how much ‘bad’ is acceptable and at what price?”

Chorus:So long, it’s been good to know ya;So long, it’s been good to know ya;So long, it’s been good to know ya.But this dusty old dust is a-gettin’ my homeAnd I gotta be driftin’ along.

The dust storm came,it hit like thunderIt dusted us over,it dusted us under; It blocked out the trafficit blocked out the sun,And straight for home all the people did runSingin’…

    Chorus:

The sweethearts they sat in the darkand they sparked,They hugged and they kissedin that dusty old dark; They cried and they sighedand they hugged and they kissedBut instead of marriage, they were talkin’ like this:Honey,…

    Chorus:

My telephone rangand it jumped off the wall,That was the preachera-makin’ his call.He said, “Kind friends, this may be the endYou’ve got your last chancefor salvation from sin!”

The church it was jammedand the church it was packed,The dusty old dustit blowed so blackThe preacher could not reada word of his text,So he folded his specs,he took up collection,Said…

    Chorus:

One last post. When I was in college, some friends and I went to look for Woody Guthrie’s home and grave-site in Okemah, Oklahoma. This was in 1974, or there abouts, we found his home and his grave-site. We also found a sheriff who told us that the Woody Guthrie Memorial Library would never be erected in Okemah because Woody was a communnist.

He was. They were correct in their decision.

Good Night and “it’s been good to know ya.” (well, at times it was).

    That’s odd.

There was a post earlier from “kansas”. He said he’d leave this forum if me and Steven and Capn and some others left. It doesn’t seem to be there now though mine and Steven’s references to it remain.

    In any case.

    “kansas” JM? You win.

When you can be problem enough to get people trying to address that problem blamed for you? When you can turn friend against friend, there’s just no use trying anymore.

Given what you’ve been able to do, I really don’t care. But I wonder if you would respect a democratic decision as opposed to your own personal bent.

Would you put yourself up for sacrifice? Would you ask the forum at large if you should reform or leave?

    1. Kansas– I don’t negotiate with terrorists.

    2. KSFGrrl– I wanna blog with you guys. waaahh Can I? Can I please?

    I’ll e-mail you.

    3. KSFGrrl is exactly right. The only people that can do anything about this are the owners of the blog. It is the way it is because of what they do and don’t do.

All they’d have to do is hire some minimum wage high school kid to come on for an hour a day and delete all the troll posts, sock puppet posts, and disruptive personal attacks.

    Problem solved.

The fact that they don’t means that it stays the troll magnet is is . . .

    And one final thought–

Before the reich-wing starts their whine that “YOU are the worst offender,” let me just say, “fine, pull my posts too.”

I perfectly fine with that. I get posts pulled at Democratic Underground occasionally too when I post there.

That’s why DU is worth reading and this place is just a constant sniping of personalities.

It would be that way if Kansas and JR and Steven and I all left, btw. It’s structured to be that way.

Among the bills flagrantly just signed into law by the subversive Swarzenegger in Californicatia is SBSB777, which bans anything in public schools that could be interpreted as negative toward homosexuality, bisexuality and other alternative sodomy choices. Under this new law, the now obsolete terms “mother” and “father” and “husband” and “wife” will be banned from public schools, unless sodomy is also advocated every time the terms are used, and boys who happen to feel like being a girl on any given day will have free access to girls’ restrooms and locker rooms. Also signed was AB394, which targets parents and teachers for such pro-sodomy indoctrination through “anti-harassment” training, using taxpayer funded propaganda. A parent who says marriage is only for a man and a woman in the presence of a lesbian teacher could be convicted of “harassment,” and a student who believes people are born either male or female could be reported as a “harasser” by a male teacher who wears women’s clothes. Also signed was AB14, which prohibits state funding for any program that does not support a range of sodomite sexual practices, including state-funded social services run by churches. Exemptions for churches and religious organizations and private day cares and hospitals under these new laws, if any, are obviously going to be quickly nullified by leftist, activist judges. Home schooling might soon be the only decent option left in Californicatia, if that, other than moving out of the state.Concerned parents fear a possible horrifying nationwide impact on public schools, a.k.a. sodomy indoctrination centers for kids (SICK), prompting the long-anticipated mass exodus from public school systems by Christians and conservatives, particularly when new textbooks and required reading lists are next issued. Now’s the time to be demanding those school vouchers, so that parents can choose to direct the tax money allocated for their children’s education into private and religious schools and home schools which are exempt from such immoral mandates as SB777 – at least, outside of Californicatia.Kansas will get the pro-sodomy mandate, too, unless Bilious Sebelius can be ousted from office before the end of this year.

Parkay this happened when my grandchildren were in Oregon schools and then again in Colorado Springs, CO schools. Because they could no longer afford private schools my son and his wife are now home schooling. Their 3 children are a joy to be around – intelligent, eager to help out, very respectful – how refreshinging. The fact that they pay lots of taxes rankles when they have no say over the public school agenda that just wasn’t right for their kids.

    WAH! WAH! WAH!

What’s the matter parkay; insecure in your sexuality unless the State backs you up?
