Not the place for redneck jokes, so . . .

“If any of you would like to come to my state, please come. We’d love to have you. I remember the Jewish Republican Society of Kansas. Great guy. Then he moved back to New York and that was it.” — Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., going for laughs as well as votes at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Presidential Forum Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

The one Jewish Republican in Kansas, then he saw why Jews should be Democrats when he and his kids faced being run out of the state by the superChristians who told them to bow down to Jesus or else. Ok, I was trying to make this funny- but it’s not.

It was just a little too truthful there Sam…that’s the problem.

Remember that Christians are just “perfected Jews” and that once the remaining Jews get converted, they too will become “perfected” and able to enter the Kingdom of God upon death. This is the official Republican position on the Jews!

Oh great. Another thread slamming Jews.Editors, why can’t we have a pro-Jew thread? Why do you hate Jews?

Lighten up. It’s a beautiful day! The joke is funny with a thread of truth. You don’t want to be one of those hypersensitive folks who live to be offended, finding something to complain about in everything.

Is there anything more boneheaded than a pandering Gentile from Kansas trying to get all chummy with Jewish prospective donors by joking about the fact that Kansas isn’t somewhere that many Jews feel comfortable?

Dear Republican Jews: this is what you get for hitching Israel to the Fundos. Unless you’re finally willing to sit back down at the table with the Palestinians, you’re going to have to sit through a lot more dinners like this one.

And what’s even dumber of Sam is that the joke insults the Jewish folks who ARE here in Kansas. Ever heard of the Mid-Kansas Jewish Federation?

    J R,

    Brownback pics-totally.

I’ve been SCOURING the web for the one of Sam’s mid-70’s ‘Fro, but Google has been of no help.

To Sam’s credit, there has been no public attempt to distance himself from the ‘Fro. I seem to recall him mentioning it, in fact.

But it may be no accident that pictures of it have suddenly become, well, curiously scarce.

We actually had a Jewish Congressman from the fourth district for awhile, Dan Glickman.

He was slimed by Tiahrt who ran an ad morphing his face into Clinton’s repeatedly . . . just like Bush did with Dukkais and rapist/murder Willie Horton.

Old “Term Limit” T-Fart has been in ever since 1994 . . .

    Cap’N,

Hadn’t thought about the Glickman angle. Glickman was and is a significant person. Sam’s “joke” effaces him, which is a bit of a slap in the face to Jewish pride here and elsewhere.

Yeah but Glickman had the good sense to be a Democrat.

Stick a fork in him; he’s done.

I got a kick out of one of those conservative evangelical types (a follower of Terry Fox) this morning – he told me he would never vote for a Mormon, Catholic, or Jew.

I supported Glickman when he first ran and worked in his campaign. Met him on a few occassions and he is a good man and was a decent Congressman. I do not agree with his stance on so-called music and movie “piracy” though.
