News about Dr. No

Our editorial today is about the bipartisan efforts in Congress to do something about the genocide in Darfur, such as authorize divestitures of state pension funds from companies that have dealings with the government of Sudan — an effort Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., is leading and the White House opposes. Interestingly, the single “no” vote on a Darfur bill in the House in July was cast by “Dr. No” himself, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas.
Paul, by the way, had a very good third quarter. The iconoclastic GOP presidential candidate reported taking in $5 million in campaign contributions.

Well he is in good company, that is about what Mc Cain took in too! So far, Dr. Paul is the only GOP candidate I could vote for today. Sound fiscal judgment, sound Foreign judgment and sound domestic judgment. Yeah he does not have a chance in hell I am afraid! In a world gone mad the sane man is the odd ball!

Paul it is a play on words but basically means “Love Ron Paul”.But thanks, while looking for an answer for you I end up watching a number of videos of his speeches and it all just reaffirmed my decision that he is what this country needs.

    writerdog,

Hate to rain on the Ron Paul parade, but Representative Paul would appear to be the consensus candidate of the White Power folks over at http://www.stormfront.com Take a look.

To be fair, Mr. Paul says certain things that CF2K agrees with. Others, not so much. Others, WAY not at all.

CF2K thinks Econ101 is on to something with the John Bircher reference in Paul’s signs. They creeped out CF2K as well.

Nice attempt to smear Dr. Paul with racist crap. Ron Paul doesn’t have any ties to that kind of garbage.

And why are YOU looking at a white power web site???

Econ we saw these signs all over the DC area. I thought they were like that because they were working with a small budget and couldn’t do any better. They were hung on fences, highway overpasses and the streets crews were removing them as fast as they appeared – seems it was illegal to hang them there.

    Bob,

    CF2K’s watchword: “know one’s enemies.”

Your defensiveness gives away the game, Bob. Let Ron Paul come out and publicly denounce these folks and their racist, separatist views.

The most interesting line in the topic header is that the White House opposes it.

What a sad commentary on a White House that professes to be on God-given mission to invade Iraq to bring democracy (although we all know it is about the oil) to turn around and to encourage investing in greedy corporate companies doing business in Darfur.

It is logic like this makes us the Ugly Americans.

    GOOD CATCH CF!

Ron Paul is right about: The Iraq occupation garrison.

Ron Paul is right to: Oppose the blinders on stampede of the neocon corporofascists.

On everything else he is crazier than a s@&thouse rat.

I do not agree with everyone of his stances, when I first came to this blog I made a confession. I was the common voter, single issue voter. The Democrats wanted to steal my guns and the Republicans wanted to safeguard my rights! But I now see what mine and others in both parties blindness has gotten us. I now realize I have to look beyond a single issue and more to what is best overall for my country. His is pro-life but realizes that simple repealing Roe V wade is not the answer. In a world gone mad it seems his “Isolationist” approach is sounding better every day. But that is not what he is really saying, we still will be involved in world affairs just not using the barrel of a gun to force our way in.

he see entitlements as more a trap then a solution to problems, his fiscal plans often make the most sense of any I have heard. They are stark and for a time maybe bleak, but would bring this country out of the business of both handing out without reason and making as a whole the economy stronger by empowering the people instead of making them more depended.

Being a realist the President is but one part of the three part system of Government. We could have the best President in office and still not get anything done with a Congress that gives away their Constitutional duties to the SOTUS or POTUS. But a good person at the helm would be a start and might even be the leader the Congress needs to fulfill their duties. Because the Congress has not been acting the way it should, the SOTUS has had to act as the conscious of the nation, this is not a power given the court by the Constitution. But until Congress starts acting like a Congress someone had to.

Yeah, CF2K, the arch-liberal, half-Jew, miscegenator with a mixed-race son is SUCH a White Power advocate.

As a rule, CF2K stays away from hate sites like Little Green Footballs, Free Republic, and, yes, Stormfront. But something about Ron Paul seems spooky and well below the surface. Another site that CF2K frequents mentioned the comment threads on Stormfront, so it seemed to be well worth a look. And indeed it was.

Ron Paul reminds CF2K of no one else as much as he does Hal Philip Walker–the candidate of the Replacement Party in Robert Altman’s “Nashville.” Check the link for various of the candidate’s proclamations.

    http://www.filmsite.org/nash.html

The whole “Revolution / Love” thing, along with the White Power connection, merely confirmed to CF2K that there’s something disquieting about Paul’s candidacy that merits closer scrutiny.

I do not consider “Little Green Foodballs” or “Free Republic” to be “hate sites.”

In fact, more than a few Blacks and Jews have contributed to both sites, I believe.

So how does the US disinvesting itself from countries that engage in genocide violate Dr Pauls view on government, and why does the president oppose this, I thought that he was opposed the goings on in Darfur unless hes just giving lip service. Isnt investing in corrupt murderous regime’s support by proxy.

    Econ101,

So black folks and Jews can never be racists? Particulalry when it comes to the use of anti-Islamic and anti-Arab racial slurs? Like this one?

“RAGHEAD, RAGHEAD, RAGHEAD!!! When animals wear rags on their head, kill innocent men, women, and children by turning them into pink mist, severe the heads of innocent humans, and plant bombs where children play… I’d say calling these mf’s RAGHEADS is about the least we can do!

Some will say this is politically incorrect. I DAMN sure hope that it is! I’d be disappointed if not!

    LLS”

By airing these opinions and allowing them to Free Republic and LGF are racist sites.

CFThe post will probably remain here, on the WeBlog, as well.

Does that make this Blog, and the Eagle, “racist”???

  26. Posted October 8, 2007 at 2:05 pm | Permalink

    Econ101,

No, because it was cited as an EXAMPLE of hate speech, rather than as an EXPRESSION of hate speech. If the WeBlog exhibits a patterning of countenancing such speech and the context that goes with it, it may thereby present itself as a venue for hate speech. But even then, discussing hate speech isn’t the problem: permitting or endorsing it is.

I realize this distinction may well tax your mental candlepower, but do try nonetheless, Econ101.
