The Wichita City Council was right to call Tuesday for a final look at potential library sites before approving one.
While the six-acre Watkins Steel site at Second and McLean appears to best meet the stated priorities for a new library, including parking for 500-plus cars and a high-visibility core location, it makes sense to make a final call for other proposals. Besides, the city might improve its negotiating leverage if other good sites turn up.
This is a big decision, and warrants due diligence.
“I just want to make sure that there’s nothing else out there,” said Mayor Carl Brewer.
Look twice, buy once. That’s a prudent approach.

It is far away from the homeless shelters and the soup kitchens.
Is that the real point?
Who really goes to libaries anymore? What’s there that we don’t have at home? Books? Got ‘em. Computers? Got it.Some stinky dude sitting next to me? No thanks.
I could have easily written the previous two posters posts myself.

Here’s an idea! Build the library into the arena. That way the arena will at least have SOME use.
This library could have cost the taxpayers nothing if the casino issue passed.
But other than that! I think that the proposed site is a good location. Kind of strange that the location the Library chose was pretty much next to the site of Ruffin’s Casino proposal.
If the Casino passed, would the Library board still choose that site?

When the casino lost you said in essence that you thought it was a too bad Wichita should have one but you were willing to accept the results, move on and never bring it up again —– want a casino? Move to Mulvane or Wellington …………..
I’d rather sit next to a steaming pile of shit, than sit beside fleetwood. Wait, that is a distinction without a difference; never mind.
