Better to be in charge of House

“I’ve discovered I prefer the majority,” said Rep. Ralph Regula, R-Ohio, explaining why he’s not running for re-election next year. Such thinking may help explain why nine House Republicans so far are bowing out next year, including former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill. Others may decide to join them in retirement. But the GOP has high hopes for regaining some seats it lost last year, starting with Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District. Voters chose Rep Nancy Boyda, D-Topeka, over incumbent Jim Ryun last year but gave President Bush 59 percent of the vote in 2004.

Boyda will be an easy one to take. She puts her foot in her mouth almost daily.

Lynn Jenkins has more intelligence in her little finger than Boyda has period.

The Republicans remind me of old westerns where the cowboys are all gung ho for a fight until they see that the other side is about to massacre them. Then, one by one, they all decide that maybe the fight isn’t worth it and they have to go home to “the family”.

Jim Ryun got himself beat by Boyda because he went to Washington and got in with that Social Conservative crowd and somehow ended up with a sweetheart real estate deal.

Republicans are leaving in record numbers because they know that Bush has made it harder for them to even show their faces, lets alone speak.

Bush has done alot of damage to the GOP but let’s not feel too sorry for the likes of Dennis Hastert – his pension alone will be more than the average American makes.
