Fred Thompson must be hoping that his presidential campaign will get better once he officially announces it. His communications director left his campaign this week. Her departure follows those of several other top campaign aides. Thompson’s June fundraising was also 30 percent less than his campaign had hoped for.

By Thanksgiving he will be a has run.
He isn’t already? If this is The Great Hope of the Republican Party they don’t have much.
This guy will make a great president. He’s an actor, so he can act like a president; he can speak in complete sentences, and since he is a lawyer we know he can read. If he had hair…he would be a lock.
Brownlee and the other Libs are quick to declare defeat for Thompson.
He’s just starting his official campaign next week, and you Libs are ALREADY shakin in your boots!
The latest Rasmussen poll (8/27-30) shows Giuliani at 25% and Thompson at 20%, that’s 2nd Place and Thompson is just starting next week.
Yes Thompson was an actor, but he was also a US Senator, Attorney, Factory worker, Shoe salesman, and Truck Driver. Actually a broader more extensive background then Ronald Reagan’s.
http://www.vote-smart.org/bio.php?can_id=22003
And you can see from the link below, that he has balls and a sense of humor. Plus, there’s no way he spends $400 on any haircut!
http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=611
IF he’s a dirty ole man that likes to run around with younger women – that should appeal to you Bill Clinton fans!
Only Bill has the morality to stick with his ‘marriage’ and screw around on the side – course if the alternative was Hillary, who can blame him!
With experience like this, looks like Fred Thompson can relate to a broad spectrum of America:
Experience:US Senator
Practicing Attorney, 1967-1994ActorAuthor ‘At That Point in Time’Factory WorkerShoe SalesmanTruck Driver
All the qualities you LIBS are afraid of the most! Yet you’ll attack him using moral standards you don’t expect of your own candidates! Hypocrites!
We get it Max, you like Thompson. I don’t think the Democrats are shaking in their boots about Thompson running.
Thompson has his own set of problems with his personal life issues. Just wait until everything comes out about this guy and then we’ll see who is shaking in their boots.
The majority of Americans know Thompson as the actor. And since our society is obsessed with celebrities, this will garner Thompson some votes. But if Thompson continues on the GOP mantra of scandal after scandal or if Thompson is seen supporting Bush in his Iraq War, then Thompson will be toast real soon.
The American that actually vote, are more savvy than those who just vote for someone because he is a celebrity. People remember Reagan was an actor and as my grandmother used to say “I didn’t like Ronald Reagan when he was an actor, so why would I like him now as my president?”.
Thompson could never spend $400 on a haircut because he is losing his hair.
Why is a Republican boasting about Thompson being a lawyer? I thought all you GOPers hated lawyers???
Max, how come it’s ok for Thompson to have a sense of humor, but it is somehow not ok for Hillary to have a sense of humor on David Letterman Show??? (Note a post on the Hillary thread.)
M M how much do you suppose Romney might spend on his make-up jobs?? LOL
I’m sure it takes alot of money to maintain Romney’s pretty boy looks.
Isn’t it ironic that Republicans know about Edwards’ $400 haircut but they do not ask the same question of their own candidates?
Not ironic; IOKIYAR
Linda, what is IOKIYAR??
It’s OK if you’re a Republican
The haircut routine is old propaganda… They tried that on Clinton too!! LOL
LOL — thanks Linda!!
That Frederick of Hollywood is even being taken seriously shows just how pathetic the Republic Party’s candidates are.
You knew the rule just not the acronym, right? See the rule in action around here on a daily basis!
It REALLY is OK if you’re a Republican! Kinda hypocritical, but OK. lol
Yep Linda… I knew the rule, not the acronym… And I even work in an alphabet kind of environment!! My bad!!
If you saw the Thompson video, he was NOT joking about HIS agenda as President.
It was a slam on the Communist loving Democrat – Michael Moore.
Just because Michael Moore states his opinions and because he questions the health care industry – you call him a Communist loving Democrat? Michael Moore has the same right as you to his free speech.
As for Thompson’s agenda – candidates say one thing during the election and then do quite the opposite once in office.
Case in point, George W. Bush stated he was a uniter, not a divider. How much further from that statement could this guy have gotten? The country is more polarized now than when GWB got into office.
And as for Bush’s promise to restore honesty and integrity to the White House – what happened to that one? More and more of Bush’s administration people are leaving under suspicion but yet claiming executive privileges. If the White truly was honest and full of integrity, then why the need for executive privilges?
No, I see Thompson as another GOP candidate that seeks to portray himself as something he is not. Thompson has some personal life issues that he will have to deal with sooner or later. Again, can the GOP stand another scandal?
Thompson’s record is clearly conservative:

Frederick of Hollywood is a hard-core whore.
Most of his “lawyering” was as a Gucci Gulch lobbyist, sometimes for pro-choice organizations.
His delay in entering the race officially is timed to assure more residuals from his “Law & Order” reruns.
GOP insiders report he’s uninspired and uninspiring on the stump; not the Gipper-reborn he’s supposed to be.
Both Republics and Democrats say he was lazy as a United States Senator and whoever thinks he’s an “attractive” man needs a seeing-eye dog.
Any specifics on your quotes Lurker, or just throwing out your own opinion and sweeping generalizations unfounded in fact?
Man, you LIBS truly fear Thompson.
Just because Michael Moore states his opinions and because he questions the health care industry – you call him a Communist loving Democrat? The Maid
No Maid, because Moore goes to Cuba (illegally?) to make a movie about how wonderful Communism is, that’s why I call him a communist.
“you Libs are ALREADY shakin in your boots!”
The only shaking I’m doing is from laughing so hard!
This guy isn’t Eisenhower. He’s not going to be elected. No hair.

That argument was already written here awhile back and proven wrong.
Fred Thompson worked for the same Law Firm as the attorney in charge of the Family Planning Unit. When that attorney was absent or out of town, Thompson took up the slack.
Yeah, I know the records of the Family Planning Unit says he was a lobbyist. Which is pointless as Fred Thompson was never register as a Lobbyist for the Family Planning Unit. He acted as an attorney on the behalf of his law firm.
Attorneys represent criminals too, but it doesn’t mean they are criminals.
I didn’t say Frederick of Hollywoood was a criminal, “Kansas.” I said he was a whore.
But then, what use are principles to Republic Party candidates?
So are GMC and Vaughn Tolle whores too? They are attorneys.
How about Hillary Clinton? She’s an attorney.
How interesting.
“Max” has run away.
“Kansas” ran away.
I guess they read my cites.
All due appologies, “Kansas.”
You finally came back to get more abuse. Good for you!
“Are all attorney’s whores?” you ask.
Just as all Lutherans are Dennis Rader, I guess.
That’s your logic, according to the Al Gore post you offered on another thread. Oh, but you ran away from that one, too.
You’re obviously an advocate of the Republic Party. I guess that means you solicit anonymous sex in airport restrooms.
It’s all in the foot-tap, right?
But… a lobbyist doesnt necessarily lobby for something they dont believe in… that would make it a conflict of interest…
And, Thompson WAS listed as a lobbyist for the Family Planning Unit… thats a hard one for him to back out of at this point…
Chas, once again the lobbyist thing about Thompson has been argued here before and disproved.
Thompson was doing work for a law firm not acting as a lobbyist.
Lawyers do work for cigarette companies too. It doesn’t mean they are smokers or supporters of smokers.
Oh!
And in Washington, D.C., a law firm isn’t a lobbyist?
How ’bout sharing with us your definition of what “is” is.
Give it up, “Kansas.”
Your arguments are getting more and more desperate.
Yeah. Liberals sure are shaking our boots and all over Thompson.
CF2K lived in Tennesse back when Thompson was a U.S. Senator. His campaign schtick was to drive around to campaign events in an old pickup trust, like a regular old joe. And then, after the event was over, and having driven a discreet distance, Thompson would transfer to his late-model, foreign sedan, and zoom off into the night.
“Finishing his talk, Thompson shakes a few hands, then walks out with the rest of the crowd to the red pickup truck he made famous during his 1994 Senate campaign. My friend stands talking with her colleagues as the senator is driven away by a blond, all-American staffer. A few minutes later, my friend gets into her car to head home. As she pulls up to the stop sign at the parking lot exit, rolling up to the intersection is Senator Thompson, now behind the wheel of a sweet silver luxury sedan. He gives my friend a slight nod as he drives past. Turning onto the main road, my friend passes the school’s small, side parking area. Lo and behold: There sits the abandoned red pickup, along with the all-American staffer.”
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/archives/9612.cottle.html
Just what America needs: another “all hat and no cattle” phony redneck. If Fred Thompson is the GOP’s great white hope, CF2K thinks that is MOST excellent.
Wow, amazing ‘digs’ you Libs have come up with on Thompson.
You’ll have to do better then that to get your Liberal Socialist Democrat Hillary elected.
Hillary can’t run on her true Liberal agenda. She’s scary enough when she pretends to be a moderate.
MODERATE! Yeah right. Y’all stupid enough to think Hillary is a MODERATE?
And Lurker, Edwards is an attorney. Clinton is an attorney. They must be whores too, if you define all attorneys as whores.
Lurker, you better pray that Hillary gets elected.
If she doesn’t, you may have to go out and get a job, and EARN your own way in life.
Can’t make it on your own, can you?
Thanks for asking, “Max!”

Yeah, I want more. You have any reputable NEWS sources or just these blogs?
Lotsa rumors about Hillary you know. We can talk about that forever, but who cares?
You Libs just want to bow down to her and let her take care of you for the rest of your lives.
Since you can’t take care of yourselves, you need a Mommy President to wipe your nose for you.
No Maid, because Moore goes to Cuba (illegally?) to make a movie about how wonderful Communism is, that’s why I call him a communist.
Posted by: Max
His movie was about healthcare NOT communism. Typical of Republicans to paint Moore with the big bad boogeyman brush to scare all those good little GOPers to lockstep on cue.
Michael Moore is America’s Joseph Goebbels:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly – it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”
“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.”
I see his latest movie is rated very high in the weekly movie ratings. It is NOT that good of entertainment.
THINK PEOPLE! YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED!!!!!!
THINK PEOPLE! BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!
Heil Hitler!!!
That was a pretty pathetic argument, Kansas… Especially when the Family Planning Unit listed Thompson as a LOBBYIST… And your retort to that is that he worked for the LAW FIRM, but not as a lobbyist??
I dont think that you would find your buddy Parkay representing a Family Planning Unit, if he/she was a lawyer… Why?? Because most Pro-Lifers wouldnt work in such a capacity… Is that the kind of individual you want for President??? Prolifer, but, he represented the ProChoicers once, and NOT just on a movie..
Well Mr Chas Abortion lover, you should vote for Thompson then.
Chas,
As I stated before this particular topic on Fred Thompson not being/being a Lobbyist has already been discussed here on the WE Blog.
It was proved without a doubt that the only role that Fred Thompson was in, was as an attorney who worked at the same Law Firm as the attorney who was actually the attorney of record for the Family Planning Unit.
Being an attorney for someone does not make you can advocate or a Lobbyist for their cause.
Attorneys get put into negotiating roles because of their legal know how. This is what Fred Thompson did for the Family Planning Unit.
The Family Planning Unit did list Thompson as a Lobbyist. But one important thing, the Family Planning Unit does not decide officially who is or who isn’t a Lobbyist. That is decided by the Federal Government.
When presented to the Federal Government, Fred Thompson was presented as the attorney representing the Family Planning Unit, not as a Lobbyist.
Get over it Chas, this was discussed and decided in spades in another thread.
Leviticus 18:22:
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Should Christian Churches support abortion?
Exodus 20:13:
13Thou shalt not kill.
Since it’s clear that a few of the WE Blog Repubs have, at the very least, tentatively tied their 2008 umbilical cords to old Fred, the veritable maestro of delayed and therefore anticlimactic (humdrum?) entrances into the GOP sweepstakes (he should have called Brownback and said, “Hey, Sam? Tell you what: I talked to my fortune teller and she told me to tell you that your numbers are destined to hover right around two percent no matter what you try, so go on back to Washington, cast a vote or two, and I’ll hold your place and get you situated, so to speak, for the upcoming what they call a straw poll. How’ll that be good buddy?”), it might be an idea to sort of assist our conservative brethren in envisioning how the Republican Convention will play out in the summer preceding the thoroughgoing drubbing.
Let’s start by going behind the scenes in the month or so leading up to the big week, when old Fred and his VP compadre, Mitt Romney, are discussing the event with the party chairman. They’re leaning up against Fred’s 1936 pickup truck that he bought when he was a door-to-door shoe salesman and kept it on account of he’s a laid back mother per his web site/You Tube data. Mitt pulled out a terry cloth towel and carefully draped it over a rust spot, and now he’s leaning against the towel and the vehicle, looking for critters and associated varmints.
FRED: The deal is, Mr. Chairman, Mitt and I were sort of half-assed wondering, spitballing you might say a while back, as to whether or not ole George’ll havta join us on stage.
CHAIRMAN: You mean in terms of introducing you at the convention?
FRED: Right on, brother.
MITT: Dig it, we think he’s a drag on the numbers. (He looks askance.) Hey! I think I saw critter. I shot a varmint once when I was–
CHAIRMAN: Hang on, Mitt.
FRED: What Mitt and I were more or less tossin’ around unoffically, Mr. Chairman, was to maybe have ole George in, put him up on the big screen a little earlier in the week. Say Monday. Like when Newman never went and got his award at the Oscars. What I mean create a mystique about the boy. The enigmatic warrior, if you get my meaning.
CHAIRMAN: I can dig it.
(Fred offers Mitt a celebratory pinch of Skoal, but the VP prospect respectfully declines.)
Later that month, Fred stands behind the curtain on the big night, waiting to be introduced by Schwarzenegger. Ole Arnold’s taking his time leading up to the main event, but Fred feels good. He has it down. He has it straight in his mind for the most part, all the stuff he can’t mention about his predecessor. He can’t talk Iraq or bin Laden. Don’t mention the country that’s right next to it. Don’t say a word about values with all the crap that came to light to tarnish the message. Stay with the essentials. You’re an actor. Arnold’s an actor, and you’re an actor. How would Reagan do it? Let’s see. One day I was drivin’ up the road–
Bang! Bang! Fred turns around and sees the chairman eating a jumbo bag of popcorn.
“The hell was that?”
“Mitt shot a varmint.”
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it isabomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defilethyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before abeast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not yeyourselves in any of these things: for in all these thenations are defiled which I cast out before you:
Michael Moore’s “lies” – like that incredibly lousy actor he had portray Bush in Fahrenheit 911?
Michael Moore was my propoganda minister in a previous life. He is doing for America what my manGoebbels did for me.
Enjoy the deceit!
Well, well… the expert, Kansas, has officially spoken, and all are now to simply believe his words, with no links, no evidence, no nothing… But, since he is the expert, we are just supposed to believe whatever his keyboard types… And so it goes, yet another day….
Why not let AIPAC pick the next candidate for each Party?
Unless you swear an oath of loyalty to AIPAC, you’re not going to be allowed to run anyway, so we could just stop this circus and save a lot of money to boot.
Okay y’all… some funny comments up here. Thanks for the laugh. Some of you just sound jealous…kinda, sorta (smile).
Have any of you ever seen Mr. Thompson on Hannity and Colmes? He is always one of the most well-mannered guests they ever have and he is gracious to both sides.
I don’t care what party platform he’s on. That’s the kind of attitude which unites both sides of the Senate and the House… A United country would be nice for a change.
Although I personally think he has little chance of winning, he has my respect as a fellow actor.
