“I believe in science. I don’t think there’s a conflict between faith and reason, and if there is, you should check your faith or check your reason,” cancer survivor and Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback said at last week’s “Livestrong” presidential forum, pledging to end cancer deaths in a decade. “I will declare a war on cancer before it kills us,” he also said.

LOL, that is all I can think of to say about this. Well maybe a little more! Why the hell is it that every politicians thinks war is the answer and we are stupid enough to think he is really going to fight Cancer?A war on drugs, a war on Poverty, Sam while you are at it… A war on saying dumb things! While I have your ear, please explain how allowing gays to marry will increase the unwanted Pregnancies?Perhaps you do not understand that gay means to have love for someone of the same sex! There an’t no Begaten if you be get’n with some one of the same sex. Biology 101…..
It’s time to get rid of this jerk who gives conservatives a bad name. He has spent this country into oblivion with his Great Society-social program to rebuild a city that should NEVER have been built in the first place, and is letting illegal immigrants ruin this country. Impeach Bush and Cheney, let Pelosi make a fool of herself, and then the Republicans ride to the rescue next November, hopefully behind a REAL conservative, not John McCain, who loves immigrants as much as the moron right now.
Sam, I would only consider voting for you if you make committments to stop this runaway federal spending on New Orleans and stop illegals from ruining our country! But you haven’t done either, so right now, I can’t cast my ballot for you. Show some GUTS!
Good one, Sam! Announce a “War on…” and whatever it is will increase.
War on Drugs? Drugs are now in abundance in this country.
War on Poverty? The number of those falling below the poverty line has increased.
War on Terror? The number of terrorists, worldwide, is growing.
Get ready to see an oncologist, folks, if Sam sits in the White House.
CBH–
Turn off the Rush Limbaugh and slowly back away from the radio.
It’s three billion dollars A WEEK you and I spend in Iraq that’s killing any chance or reducing the deficit, not the pennies FEMA throws at New Orleans.
And if you don’t like illegal immigration, blame the rock-ribbed Republicans who keep hiring them . . .
It’s an interesting goal and I’m unsure how Brownback would rush science to achieve that goal of eliminating cancer. It’s almost like something you would hear at a Miss Teenage America pageant, where they say “I would eliminate all wars and end world hunger.”
Oh and Capn, you got any statistics and sources on how only Republicans hire illegal aliens?
Didn’t think so.
The War on Reason began years ago and Brownback is a five-star general. Typical conservatism – don’t spend a penny to help anyone find a job, raise a child, get access to health care, but if it is something that affected you personally, throw money at it.
Now if only he would show up and vote as a representative of his Kansas constituents … his pathetic voting records is truly a dereliction of duty – he should NOT be voted into office if he were to run again.
Capn (Communist) America, you think the Democrats are going to do anything to stop illegals? They want MORE illegals in this country so they can have more votes. Your logic is so poor a third-grader wouldn’t believe it. And as for New Orleans, the city is sinking, and all they do is kill one another. What’s the freaking use? NONE!
Has Brownback showed up to work lately, or is he still out begging for money? We need to write him up and have a disciplinary hearing.Or maybe we are better off without him voting.
Ahhh…. democracy!!! Can’t live with it, can’t live without it.
Gosh, Are they letting undocumented workers vote now??? I missed that!!!
So Brownback is going to support all stem cell research and take the handcuffs off of federally funded scientists??? HA! Thought not.
Since when is Brownback a cancer survivor? Is he going to use his cancer to get sympathy votes as some Republicans have accused John Edwards of using his wife’s cancer for sympathy votes?
Is that the real reason behind this news item?
There is a cure for cancer, and it has been around for many years. However, the NCI and ACS have fought it use afraid they will be out of jobs if people started using it. It has been proven to work in other countries, but ACS/NCI rigged the tests here by ignoring the contraindications to insure its failure.
Congress was looking at reviewing the flawed testing, but nothing ever came of it.
And how many politicians who have lined their own pockets with drug companies money even give a damn about cancer?
The problem is money and our healthcare system is based on profits. It is a system that rewards getting sick and does not even encourage prevention. I’ve seen health insurance companies pay out thousands of dollars for a catastrophic illness when it could have been prevented by paying for yearly mammograms ?
Is a war on cancer any more asinine than a war on terror? We’d most likely win the cancer war first, as the war on terror is so ambiguous, and has no clear set planning. But then, Sam might just convene the top faith healers to fight his war.
Isn’t Jerry Lewis still fighting to find a cure for MD? You aren’t going to stamp out cancer until you get rid of everything that causes it and I can’t see “any” republican doing that.
Those people don’t want to find cures, or the MDA telethons would have found one by now. Medical researchers care more about getting more money for their pet projects than they do about curing diseases. They are afraid that they will be out of work. That has been going on since the magic bullet days, when doctors and scientists fought against the magic bullet solution.
