The Bush administration is close to declaring Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard unit a terrorist group — the first time a standing army of a foreign government has been so identified. The move would allow the United States to freeze assets and pursue other get-tough measures against the guard’s extensive networks, which the administration believes is supplying weapons to insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As important, it would pressure foreign companies in Russia, China and elsewhere that enable Iran’s pursuit of uranium processing, which Tehran continues in defiance of United Nations efforts to shut it down.
Some worry the move could endanger diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States. But Iran, long identified as a state sponsor of terror, needs to know that there will be real consequences for defying the international community and acting in bad faith.

Why don’t we use more diplomacy?
Perhaps actually getting on our hands and knees begging and pleading for them to comply would work?
I say we give it another 20 years or so of asking them to stop and things will be looking better.
Neville Chamberlain or Winston Churchill?
Oh, Oh, Oh!
Peace in our time baby, peace in our time!
Chamberlain all the way!
Bush has things backwards.
The United States under his administration is the “Terrorist” Nation which supplies The “Rogue Terrorist State of Israel” with 30 billion for weapons just this month.
The “Gruesome Twosome” are the “Terrorists” not the Arabs and Persians.
But that is what to expect out of the Bush “Cross-eyed Foreign Policy.”
And all of the death and misery which goes with it.
And $3 gasoline, which is breaking middle Americans, trying to get to work.
To a real extent it is reality, it has been known that the guard has been a big supporter of terrorist groups. It need not mean that the talks should or will stop. Like the United States there are many different asspects to it. The Guard is just one and they do not have total control if Iran not more then a group like the PNAC has total control of the U.S. Government… I least I hope that neither do!
Just think, If we would have had this avenue open we could have declared China and Russia as Terrorist during previous wars! Bush is a Gol Dern jenius!
I wonder if Iran will declare the US Special Forces as “terrorist”. It makes about as much sense. The standing army of another nation is just that. And it does what covert ops forces do which is to run proxy wars and attack its enemies. I am quite sure our ops go into Iran and do likewise.
Is Bush afraid Iran may have enough “Shock and Awe” to compete with his brand of terror?
My God, can’t you just feel the excitement among Conservatives? We’re gonna have another war! Conservatives, you done hit another trifecta!
As long as this stays financial and administrative pressure. We are spread thin enough already. The fights we are in aren’t fairing well. Another front of military action IMO would be disastrous.
I don’t support creating hard feelings between the USA and Iran. I do support us taking on the muslim extremists because they say they are trying to crete a world full of muslims. If Bin Laden would allow his people some freedoms and not teach them to kill the westereners, then the war would die down until the next extremist group comes along and wages a war over religion.
Another great distraction from the administration. When the economists say we are headed towards the “greatest financial trainwreck in history” the administration is labelling again. Watch as the stock markets continue to fall, and the housing market fail and do nothing. The fact that while the administration was fighting their “war on terror” they were not regulating the housing market. 900,000 foreclosures so far this year and that number is expected to double by years end. Banks are tightening lending requirements, and holding the money injected by the feds. Revolving credit card debt rose 8.4% last month which indicates Americans are living above their means. As these economic indicators continue, watch as the bubble bursts in the stock markets. Its proven that years ending in 07 and 57 have been disasterous financially for our economy. But lets keep talking about whats going on elsewhere shall we?
Folks, elections are in 2009 and Ahmendinajad is hugely unpopular. No, we shouldn’t sit back and do nothing. But all the bullshit saber-rattling (e.g. “axis of evil”, not-so-veiled threats) helped elect that nut in the first place.
Proceed with caution, and tell those people who are getting all orgasmic over a new war to shut the hell up.
Rage! Ahmendinajad will just place himself, President for Life, much like Hugo Chavez.
Neville Chamberlain thought that Hitler was temporary also.
Joe! Ahmendinajad does not have any such power to do so: the real power in Iran is exercised by the Supreme Leader, the Ayahtollah ali Khamenei. He is the overseer of the military.
http://www.iranchamber.com/government/articles/structure_of_power.php
Moreover, Ahmendinajad isn’t terribly popular, as his party’s losses in last year’s election demonstrated. So you’re dealing in fantasy scenarios.
But if Bush WANTS to make Ahmendinajad “President for Life,” I’d say that declaring the Revolutionary Guard a ‘terrorist organization’ would be a pretty good way to do it.
Honestly. What won’t this Administration do to distract attention from itself? If the stock market does indeed crash, we should all expect the bombs to start dropping on Iran ASAP.
Bush is using threats he cannot back up by military power. We are already in two wars and it does not look good when we have national guard being recycled and extended tours. The national guard was not set up to be our permanent military.
The best thing Bush could do is to get the US off the Middle East oil teat. But I don’t see him doing much about that issue.
Christian Conservatives who profess to believe in the sanctity of life are the first ones to salivate when talking about going to war. Perhaps this is part of the problem? We have our own religious nutjobs, as do the majority of peace loving Muslims.
If Bush had fulfilled his promise of capturing Bin Laden, I think this point would have been moot because it would have shown the world that we were serious about holding the guy responsible for 9/11 and bring him to justice.
But, no, Bush had to invade Iraq and that just added fuel to the already growing fire. I don’t condone the radical Muslims but we cannot fight them by merely shaking our fists in their faces and threatening war when they know our military could not stand such a strain. Bush needs to focus his attention on our own country and stop going after Iraq’s oil.
” don’t condone the radical Muslims but we cannot fight them by merely shaking our fists in their faces and threatening war when they know our military could not stand such a strain.”
And how do you suggest we “fight” them?
“The best thing Bush could do is to get the US off the Middle East oil teat. But I don’t see him doing much about that issue.”
And how do you suggest we do so?WInd farms off the coast of Mass? Oh, can;t do that? Nuclear power? Oh, you have to be kidding. Drilling in ANwar? nope, off limits.Ddrilling off the coast of Florida? No, can’t do that. More hydroelectrid dams. You have to be kidding. Ehtanol? Hahahahah! And on and on and on
First and foremost – get off the Middle East oil teat! And then go after Bin Laden and hold him responsible for his action on 9/11.
But that horse has left the barn. Bush had the support of the world when 9/11 happened but he squandered it on his quest for oil.
We need to secure our borders and take care of our own country.
Do you really think we can take on Iran militarily?
Now who is the fool?
I’m not the one fighting the wind farms in Kansas. That would be the landowners that don’t want it in ‘their backyards’.
These same landowners are the ones that want to go fight the enemy but will not allow alternative energy to be too close to their precious assets.
Americans are not willing to sacrifice and we are not being asked to. Bush seems to think we can just invade a country, take their oil and live happily ever after. No wonder we are in trouble as a country. No one wants to do the hard things like cut back on their energy use.
And, yes, I do drive a compact car that gets 35 miles to the gallon. I don’t drive anywhere unless absolutely necessary.

I never said we could, or should. I asked a quesiton in response to your statement. For clarification, my personal opinion is let Iran be. Let it be all it wants to be. If it wants to be a nuclear power, let it. Lt it also undertand that we ALSO are a nuclear power, and Iran can be made into glass, if we are attacked. MAD, all over again

1) Why not put the windfarms, oh, i don’t know, in YOUR backyard. They are available you know, about 20K, I think. WHy should they dirty their back yard, so you can have power? But, I was referencing Ted Kennedy putting a stop to a windfarm off the coast of Mass. His backyard, Unacceptable.
2)THe real answer is not Bush wants to do this or that. The real answer is AMericans don;t want to dirty up their own back yard, but are perfectly willing to dirty up someones elses. if it helps them.
BUsh is a smokescreen. Oil profits are a smokescreen.”These same landowners are the ones that want to go fight the enemy but will not allow alternative energy to be too close to their precious assets.”
is nothing more than a smokescreen. The real answer is Americans need to suck it up, and idrty their own back yard if they must
Yeah, taking on Iran – I heard the “Mother of all Battles” spoken by someone somewhere before. Some people saying there would be 100,000 American dead.

What is it with writerdog and his dislike of Charles Krauthammer? I don’t like all of his comments, but he’s extremely intelligent and has great insight on some issues. Has Krauthammer being chewing on your bone Dog?

Long term investment, it’s not a new concept. Credit card debt rising? Most expenditures on credit cards are spent on luxury items, items not really needed.
Sure there are people who use their credit cards to pay for emergency repairs or for some other needed good.
For the most part, people treat credit cards as a “spend toy.” If the average credit card user would use their credit card for items of necessity or emergency, they wouldn’t be in the fix they are now.

Spending money by the County – Let’s see preserving the history of Wichita or hiring two zoo keepers to care for penguins which have to have special diets and special facilities.
I smell Zoo dung and it’s on the shoes of the Commission.
“s important, it would pressure foreign companies in Russia, China and elsewhere that enable Iran’s pursuit of uranium processing, which Tehran continues in defiance of United Nations efforts to shut it down.”
Let the fricking UN take care of somehting for a change, without US military troops or funds.
Yeah, like that will ever happen. But still, it’s their resolutions, let them take care of it.
LJ,
Agreed. Give the UN a time table – 90 days. Get Iran straightened out or the US pulls out of the UN and we take our billions with us. They have proven to be impotent on too many occasions. Time to pull the plug and save some green.
The UN is a joke. They do not have the gumption to back up their own resolutions. They have depended on the US to do so, and to take the brunt of it. Time for them to stand up, or stand down and us to depart this useless organizaiton
Agreed. They have too many dirty ties to the middle East. No reason for them to –dirty their hands- when the US is willing to do it, at US expense (money and lives), and even pay the UN. What-Ah-Bahgahn.
Quote by Sol:
“Give the UN a time table – 90 days. Get Iran straightened out or the US pulls out of the UN and we take our billions with us. They have proven to be impotent on too many occasions. Time to pull the plug and save some green.”
That’s one of the smartest things anyone has posted here for a long, long time.
Excellent.
Oh great, so the Bush regime is trying to justify an invasion of Iran, Russia and China. Well that’s just spiffy. If they ever call up a draft guess whose kids won’t be serving. Nah, maybe they’ll get a cushy position with a Girl Scout Troop or something.
O.K. everyone who thinks this is an extension of the Bush war mistakes -
Tell me what you would have a demcorat in the white house do?
Start with the assumption that IRAN (president/religious leader/fanatics) is intentionally funneling explosive devises, training, and personnel into Iraq.
Add to that the fact that over 5,000 of our casualties (WIA/KIA)are the results of roadside bombs from IRAN.
1. You cannot hide behind, “find another source for oil”.
2. The past and it being Bush’s fault.
The bad guys are killing your men and women in uniform – today.
Regarding the UN, it’s not that the bear dances well, but that it dances at all.
Remember Bosnia? How many troops did we lose under the UN flag?
I am not a Democrat, but a Republican. I have had, and continue to have relatives in Iraq. They are active duty military. I would not invade iran, or bomb iran, or do any of the above. i would remove our troops from most of Iraq, and secure the borders of Iraq,. Any infiltration by hostile forces, by those carrying weapons of any kind, would be met with harshly
You can’t solve any problem until you understand it.
“The UN is a joke. They do not have the gumption to back up their own resolutions.”
The Zionists rely on the single UN Security Counsel Veto from the United States to thwart any Middle East Peacekeeping Resolution passed by the General Assembly.
http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/UN/usvetoes.html
As long as you are not willing to recognize who is causing the problems, there is no solution.
I agree with LJ, but will go a little further.
Saudi is far mor damaging. Harsh words are in order there as well. Secure the border with Saudi first as just under half of the foreign fighters streaming in are from Saudi.
Secure the borders. Duh. If they can’t get in, they can’t keep the pot stirred. Has to be US troops or Kurds though, the majority of the police force is on Sadr & Iran’s ’side’.
Good point, Ed. The US has often been the lone “no” vote.
SolDevVB-
Sorry I wasn;t clear. I meant ALL borders, including those with Saudi. And I agree. The wahabbists from Saudi Arabia certainly share a LARGE part of the blame
Then we are 100% in agreement.
Israeli greed started this “war” and without their greed and control over Bush, we would not be in Iraq.
Ease-up on the propaganda. It’s insulting.
When Arabs are defending their land, their homes, their oil, or their countries, they are not “terrorists.”
That has been a “made-up definition” right from Israel’s beginning.
Israel has a fleet of 100 “military bulldozers” { each the size of a house } which it uses to crush Palestian Villages {418 } and Palestinian Homes { 17,000 }.
So how does the definition of “terrorist” apply?
Note: Caterpillar Corporation is being sued for allowing their Bulldozers to be used to murder people.
Interesting, democrats didn’t respond with a solution. Just continue to tear down the current administration.
For the two I did see: How on earth would ever secure Iraq’s border if we cannot even secure our own?
You Zionists talk about the US forming a “coalition” to attack Arabs countries, yet when they try to form a “coalition” to defend themselves, against the world’s Superpower, no less, the propaganda begins to fly that they are somehow doing something awful.
American soldiers are dying under these false pretenses and that needs to stop now, by cutting-off funding for this Zionist scam.
And bring out troops home.
The Israelis will never make peace as long as the US finances their aggression.
Ed,The Israelis will never make peace as long as the Islamic Fascist keep hurling bombs over the border. So I’ll ask the question you would never ask, Ed, “Who is funding the Islamic Fascist?” It’s the same old tit for tat that has been going on for thousands of years.
God bless America and her giving spririt:
Israel, U.S. formally sign new defense agreement
Israel and the United States signed Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding on the new American defense package for Israel. Under the new aid agreement, the U.S. will transfer $30 billion to Israel over 10 years, compared with $24 billion over the past decade.
The aid deal signed at represents a 25 percent rise in U.S. military aid to Israel.

Since we are the super power, our role in this world should not be bullies but we also should not be someone’s nurse maid.If I had it my way I would leave most of the Middle East completely, leave them alone and watch how it all would shape itself.Let the little ones fight it out on their own, I am sure eventually they will kill themselves off.Bin Laden picked a fight with us directly and I would have been specific to capturing or killing him, no mercy.Any others that think they are big enough or powerful enough to take us on, most of time it is just mouthing off but on an action I would not hesitate to become defensive.Whatever the outcome if they want to deal with us on friendly terms then we will deal but if they want act like idiot snots about it then we will ignore them until they pick a fight with us directly. That is what we should do as a super power.
“Add to that the fact that over 5,000 of our casualties (WIA/KIA)are the results of roadside bombs from IRAN.”
That’s pretty impressive since 5,000 soldiers haven’t died in Iraq yet. When you add all the other countries that joined in (excluding the Iraqi soldiers who kill Americans on their own) the number is at 4,000.
There’s only one explanation for this. The Iranians have developed a time machine.
For me, the whole point of this is, who do we think we are to object to Iran being involved in Iraq? They have MUCH more at stake than we do, yet WE are there.
We are winning!!!

Killing For Congress
Iraq’s latest massacres
By Ralph Peters
Two days ago, al Qaeda detonated four massive truck bombs in three Iraqi villages, killing at least 250 civilians (perhaps as many as 500) and wounding many more. The bombings were a sign of al Qaeda’s frustration, desperation and fear.
The victims were ethnic Kurd Yazidis, members of a minor sect with pre-Islamic roots. Muslim extremists condemn them (wrongly) as devil worshippers. The Yazidis live on the fringes of society.
That’s one of the two reasons al Qaeda targeted those settlements: The terrorist leaders realize now that the carnage they wrought on fellow Muslims backfired, turning once-sympathetic Sunni Arabs against them. The fanatics calculated that Iraqis wouldn’t care much about the Yazidis.
As far as the Thieves of Baghdad (also known as Iraq’s government) go, the terrorists were right. Iraqi minorities, including Christians, have been classified as fair game by Muslim butchers. Mainstream Iraqis simply look away.
But the second reason for those dramatic bombings was that al Qaeda needs to portray Iraq as a continuing failure of U.S. policy. Those dead and maimed Yazidis were just props: The intended audience was Congress.
Al Qaeda has been badly battered. It’s lost top leaders and thousands of cadres. Even more painful for the Islamists, they’ve lost ground among the people of Iraq, including former allies. Iraqis got a good taste of al Qaeda. Now they’re spitting it out.
The foreign terrorists slaughtering the innocent recognize that their only remaining hope of pulling off a come-from-way-behind win is to convince your senator and your congressman or -woman that it’s politically expedient to hand a default victory to a defeated al Qaeda.
Expect more attempts to generate massive bloodshed in Iraq in the coming weeks. The terrorists are well aware of the exaggerated-by-all-parties importance of Gen. David Petraeus’ Sept. 15 progress report to Congress. They’ll do all they can to embarrass the general and provide ammunition to the surrender caucus.
Meanwhile, our military progress has become undeniable. Even Democratic presidential aspirants have started hedging their peace-at-any-price positions. To the horror of al Qaeda and left-wing bloggers alike, cutting and running is starting to look unfashionable.
How has Petraeus changed the outlook so swiftly? Numerous factors are in play, but two of his personal characteristics have helped keep him from making a single wrong move thus far.
*First, Petraeus is relentless. The result is that, for the first time, our military approach has become relentless, too.
In the past, we followed up military wins by stepping back and hoping that the reduction of Fallujah or the latest shoot-’em-up with Muqtada al-Sadr’s thugs would prove decisive. We were wrong every time – all our forbearance achieved was to give our enemies time to recover.
Petraeus changed the rules, and God bless him for it. He may have a high-school-prom smile for the media, but the general’s a clinch fighter who ignores the bell – and who isn’t above landing a blow when the ref ain’t looking. It’s exactly the approach we’ve needed.
*The second quality is his leadership style. Micro-managers lose control in war. While Petraeus is interested in every detail and spends plenty of time on the ground with tactical commanders, he assigns missions, gives the essential guidance – then trusts subordinates to do their jobs.
Previous U.S. commanders worried about the wrong things, and they worried all the time. Petraeus is concerned about the one thing that matters: Winning.
He’s that rarer-than-a-unicorn beast, a full general capable of learning. Petraeus hasn’t “defended his dissertation” in the face of contrary facts. The politically correct counterinsurgency manual he produced before taking up this assignment delighted the left-of-center think-tank crowd – but they must be very disappointed today. Once in command in Iraq, Petraeus kept the doctrinal bits that worked, but dumped the baloney.
He’s doing what it really takes: Fighting. Our troops are killing those who need killing; tens of thousands of terrorists, insurgents and militiamen are in lockup, with more coming in every day. And any member of the NYPD can tell you that taking murderers off the streets works.
Petraeus is also pursuing political progress, but that effort’s still lagging. Not his fault: The most that our military can do is to help establish the conditions for Iraq’s leaders to succeed. But the old rivalries, bitter hatreds and personal pettiness of Baghdad’s politicians have been more discouraging than the terror attacks.
That said, we’re not really in Iraq for Iraq’s sake now, but for our own. The long-mismanaged situation has morphed from a grand attempt to create a model democracy in the Middle East to become a fight for our strategic security – knocking al Qaeda down, keeping Iran out (see sidebar) and shaping a new Iraq that’s at least benign where our interests are concerned.
Here’s how Gen. Petraeus summed it up for The Post on Tuesday: “Right now, we’re on the offensive, striving to build on the gains made in the past two months by conducting strike operations to retain the initiative against al-Qaeda-in-Iraq, to address the challenge of the Iranian-supported Shia extremists and to try to reduce further the level of ethno-sectarian violence in Baghdad and other fault line areas.”
Al Qaeda down, Iran out and sectarian violence reduced. Sounds like a plan.
Doug-
Since you want to be technical, which I agree is important, to be both technical and accurate,We have had far more than 5000 casualties (WIA/KIA) in Iraq. (WIA/KIA) means wounded in action/killed in action. ALthouoght, I do not know off how how many have been killed by IEDs made in Iran.
That’s pretty impressive since 5,000 soldiers haven’t died in Iraq yet. Posted by: Doug
It is very impressive that you can’t read and don’t know what WIA means.
Now go look it up. Should I wait for your response?
As of August 15th:
Iraq only:
KIA: 3,688 WIA Not RTD 12,297
http://www.defenselink.mil/news/
IED casualities:
http://icasualties.org/oif/IED.aspx
EagleBeak-
The IED casualty link only shows fatalities
You Zionists “toy” with the lives of American soldiers.
“Two days ago, al Qaeda detonated four massive truck bombs in three Iraqi villages,”
And “how” could you possibly know that was true?
Especially when it benefited the Israeli Mossad’s mission.
I’m waiting for the time machine. That’s a bit more impressive than your made up numbers. Waaaaaay back in Feb. of 2007 (yeah, a long time ago) the number of coalition people killed by so-called Iranian made IEDs was 170, so according to your numbers that means over 4,800 were injured by the said bombs making up 18% of all reported wounded in the entire occupation despite the BBC saying only 620 were injured by the magical bombs.
That’s quite impressive that they killed so few and injured so many. Of course the bombs happened to be made in the UK with English lettering because in the future all Iranians give up Farsi and take over England and ship the bombs into the past.
It’s quite interesting that a case for war is being made because of the magical Iranian made bombs. The U.S. has lost $13 billion in Iraq and nearly 200,000 firearms. Before the first Gulf war Iraq was buying weapons from America, England, China and Russia.
Here’s a photo of your Iranian IED:http://cernigsnewshog.blogspot.com/2007/02/they-expect-you-to-believe-this.htmlYou notice that it isn’t written in Farsi?
So I’ll gladly admit that I overlooked WIA and focused on the KIA. Such mistakes are minor. However when you overlook on numerous facts in order to justify killing hundreds of thousands of people your mistake isn’t so minor.
LJ,
I know, I had an article somewhere with the WIA for IED’s counts but can’t find it. I’ll keep looking. I think it was in an article from some congress person who was making a critical statement about the MRAP taking so long (rightfully so).
These are just US counts and not for Afghan either (where the IED’s are starting to show up).
Out of over 27,000 WIA (about half returned to duty) added to the known KIA’s, my 5,000 isn’t unreasonable. But I did read it somewhere and will find it.
But to me, even if it’s only ONE American, I think Iran needs to be dealt with in some fashion – but certainly not ignored.
Here’s another link for you “Eagle Beak”

justify killing hundreds of thousands of people your mistake isn’t so minor.
Posted by: Doug
Don’t overreact Doug. I didn’t try to justify anything. Go back now after you count to ten and read what I posted.
“The bad guys are killing your men and women in uniform – today.”
Yeah, I couldn’t get that implication with this sort of message which follows a sizeable death toll that you made up in your head. Bad intelligence and lies was used to justify one mass slaughter, I suppose those actions meant nothing either.
Douglas, you are still spinning.
Now answer the question of my post:
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE YOUR DEMOCRAT POTUS DO?
Oh that’s easy. I agree with the majority of Americans and Iraqis and support an immediate withdrawl from Iraq. Heck, I was against going in in the first place just like 1994 Cheney.
When will the CONs understand that the world’s problems cannot be solved by dropping a bomb on it?
They seem to see soverign countries as wayward children that just need a spanking.
Actually, that doesn’t work too well for children either . . .
“CONs understand that the world’s problems cannot be solved by dropping a bomb on it?”
It is GW, not all conservatives. Blanket statements suck and usually slap you in the face when made.
“Actually, that doesn’t work too well for children either . . . ”

The hell is doesn’t. The really crappy kids came along when that IDIOT Spock got popular. Even Spock admited he was wrong.
Thankfully, no stupid comments here like the one on the teacher story. (She’s a former co-worker, dating a buddy of mine.)
“Israel, U.S. formally sign new defense agreement” { 30 billion }
And every bit of that money will be used to murder defenseless Arabs and steal their property.
And we wonder why they struck us on 9/11?
The 9/11 Commission Report says the attack was NOT a “terrorist” attack but rather in retaliation for supporting uncalled for Israel brutality and land theft { and now the US is doing the same }.
This is a very true statement. In our material world, if it takes longer than a minute, it’s not worth doing. See ya USA!
Cut and run, boys?
In a statement published by Iran’s Mehr news agency, the IRGC condemned the plan as
“Those who are enchanted by the material world fail to realise the depth of the spiritual power and iron determination of the devoted members of the IRGC, which have roots in the religious beliefs of the people, and will witness the definite victory of the children of Islam against global infidelity,” the statement said.
Listen to all the chatter– Oh the US and Israel are so bad, we all know yeah we are that bad that we could NUKE anyone of these baby terrorist countries and we don’t, If Iran could nuke Israel it would – The united states practices something called tolerance. Unlike all of these women beating fagot men of men Muslims that live in prehistoric times you know like they can’t make a bomb that the US could make for over 40 years.
These people are backwards in technology and in civil liberties. Face it these countries are just like the US about ummm 150 years ago. So for all you people who still think a camel’s are a transportation device and not a cigarette go back in your houses that has no electricity and phones and prey to GOD for how advanced in moral judgment the United States is.
By the way I hate GW. – So don’t even think from any of my statements that I am a republican.
The 9/11 Commission Report says the attack was NOT a “terrorist” attack but rather in retaliation for supporting uncalled for Israel brutality and land theft { and now the US is doing the same }.

Ed, show me where in the 911 Commission Report it says, “was NOT a terrorist attack but rather in retaliation…”
I have a copy by the way, just give me a page number.
If you really want a way out of this economic and foreign policy mess we find ourselves in FOLLOW the CONSTITUTION.
Our dollar is worth practically nothing now because of the Federal Reserve Act, which was passed by congress in 1913 without an ammendment to the constitution as required. Get ride of the FED and back our money with hard assets like gold or silver.
In the foregin policy area we should listen to the advise of our founding fathers who told us to talk with other countries and to trade with other countries, but to stay out of treaties and entanglements with foreign governments. Had we followed there advise we would not be hated by muslims and others. Out of 190 countries in the world the US has millitary bases in about 130. Let me as you a question. If Iran came to the US and set up military bases do you think some of us would be considered extremist insergence?

chris,
If the U.S. Dollar is worth practically nothing why are you not using a dump truck full of dollars to go grocery shopping?
Do you need $500,000 of U.S. treasury notes to buy a loaf of bread?
Where do you buy your goods and services Chris that makes you think the U.S. Dollar is practically worthless?
I wondered how many CONs were left who would support President Liar even if he attacked Iran.
Looks like there’s no lie so transparently false that they won’t believe it, if it means we get to shoot people.
“Kill one person, it’s murder. Kill one hundred thousand, it’s foreign policy.” Howard Zinn
I am wondering if seperating the revolutionary guard from Iran and declaring them as a terror organization might help Bush not attack Iran. As I understand it the Guard is controlled by leaders not in the central government. Bush will get to posture all he wants (much like the chimp he so remarkably resembles), the terror designation does address who is causing us problems, and lowers the risk of us attacking Iran.
So, possibly in the end the terror designation is a good thing.
Chris,
If Iran came to the US and set up military bases do you think some of us would be considered extremist insergence?
Thats wierd – you are so right – I would then decide to blow myself up in the name of #$#$ or whatever his name is — thats right its the military bases. We need to get rid of them. Religion breeds idiot’s doesn’t matter what one it is.Sorry to offend all of you but I know Santa and the pole are real.

1. I don’t lump you in with the unthinking CON’s. People who support Ron Paul are not CON’s by my definition.
2. Spanking is a good way for a parent to vent their frustration. It makes the parent feel better.
But anyone who is forced to yield to superior force feels resentment about that. Resentment is usually not a good thing.
Paper money was first used as a recipe to show that you possessed something tangible, like gold. In the 1970’s Richard nixon took the dollar off the Gold standard. The federal reserve is NOT a FEDERAL agency. It is a private bank which has the power to print money with no backing whatsoever. The more money they circulate the less the money is really worth and the higher the inflation. So they combat this by raising interest rates and then the housing and financial markets dry up. They cause the problem and then they fight the problem. They ARE THE PROBLEM. The dollar today is worth about 4 cents compared to the first dollars printed by the reserve. Which is why a gallon of milk back then cost you 25 cents and now it cost you $4. Not because it cost more to produce milk, but because your dollar is worth so much less.
Steven, it is my understanding that the Revolutionary Guard is under the direct control of the Revolutionary Council, which is not a part of the formal government of Iran. The Revolutionary Guard is not a part of the armed forces of Iran. The armed forces are under the control of the government.
Just wondering…
Where is the outrage from the Left when Al Qaeda or some other terrorist groups blows up innocent civilians?
Perhaps the victims of terrorists overseas aren’t Caucasian enough for Leftist to be concerned.
“will witness the definite victory of the children of Islam against global infidelity”
Well good day to you all.
I’m not too excited about having a private social security account today.
But at least I’ll admit it.
You Zionists are real big on “Slogans” such as “cut and Run” whether it applies or not, which it doesn’t.
We have no business being in Iraq, and murdering their People, any more than we have any right to attack Iran, while it prepares for a defense from an “atomic Attack” from the Neocon/Zionists/ PNAC and assorted crud which tags along with them.
The Israelis drove-up the price of crude oil by threatening atomic warfare in the Middle East, yet Iran has never threatened to cut-off our supply from them, which would cripple our economy.
So, who is the real enemy?
{ a few of the enemy reps are right here on this blog }
Kansas,The dollar has fallen against most other country’s monies. The rate of exchange is maybe what Chris was talking about – though that is not clear in his post.
The upside to the weak dollar is that foreign tourists are coming here this summer spending their money. American travelers overseas don’t fare as well, however.
The Canadian dollar has done very well against the U.S. dollar. Scary when those socialists are outdoing us, isn’t it?

Steven Davis,
Have you checked the European Stock Reports lately?
The U.S. is not the only one taking the latest panic attack on the chin.

The TROLL asks,
Just wondering…
Where is the outrage from the Left when Al Qaeda or some other terrorist groups blows up innocent civilians?
Al Qaeda doesn’t represent Americans so it has nothing to do with us.
Our government which should have DESTROYED Al Qaeda by now–AND THE PEOPLE THAT COVERTLY AID THEM LIKE THE SAUDIS–is the one it makes sense to be outraged about.
Al Qaeda is what it is. The only thing we can affect is how we respond to Al Qaeda.
And so far, BushCo. could hardly have done worse.
So Capn, what is your plan to destroy Al Qaeda.
Remember Capn, they are in thousands of cells all over the World.
Let’s hear your plan Capn.
Or do you want to wait until there is another U.S. attack and we can do some more police work on them?
You know investigate until we are satisfied we know everything, but have done nothing about it.
Kill Osama bin Laden instead of letting him get away by invading Iraq for its oil.
The United States with the greatest military power in the world — nay, the greatest military power in HISTORY — can’t find one guy.
Can’t?
Or won’t?
Worst. President. Ever.
Okay, kill one man.
Then what Capn?
Nothing?
That’s your plan?
I can’t stand the oh you don’t understand the Palestinian’s they cant do anything to fight Israel they have to kill civilians and blow themselves up and whatever. Listen Palestinians could have morals and fight with those but they choose not to. They are how you say cavemen, ok and then your going to come back with Israel kills are civilians well ok but Israel could kill all of you and doesn’t hmmm. Yeah who is the real enemy?? Cavemen?
Yeah who is the real enemy?? Cavemen?Posted by: saint
Look Saint, the United States stole Texas from the Mexicans, we stole California from them too and parts of AZ and NM. We also stole Hawaii from the their own people. Some would say we stole Alaska and the lower 48 from the indians, but we bought Alaska fair and square from the Russians, and the lands of the Louisiana Purchase from Spain.
My point is, you don’t see everyone living in those states whining, crying, putting on 10 pounds of TNT and blowing themselves and buses up. You don’t see any mortar rounds flying from Texas into Oklahoma.
Why is that? Because they here before us LOST.
The bigger and stronger won. The war is over. We made friends and enemies, but we all live together just fine.
Why you palistinainaains wanna rumble? If you’d put down your guns and hate, you just might be the next California.
“Iraq Toll at 250 in the Deadliest Attack of the War”
“Yellow Journalism” from the New York Times.
1000s were killed by coordinated attacks by US war-planes where entire Villages such as Fallujah were decimated, men, women, and children.
“BAGHDAD, Aug. 15 — The toll in a horrific quadruple bombing in an area of mud and stone houses in the remote northern desert on Tuesday evening reached at least 250 dead and 350 wounded, several local officials said Wednesday, making it the deadliest coordinated attack since the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.”
The “trick is in the wording; “since the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003″ { with the numbers left-out }.

Everyone knows that all the national and world problems go away if you will just vote for Hillary.
That’s why the libs on the blog cannot answer HOW or WHAT they would do about current events.
It all just magically goes away………………….
Elliot Holtzkocker,
Damn straight.
You should all get out of debt as soon as possible and buy guns to defend yourself. All it will take is another so called “attack” on this country and we will all be under marshall law with no habeus corpus rights and have to do what Bush says or we will be labeled terrorists.
Google “Executive orders”10900109951099710998110001100111002110041100511051113101104911921
and also google “Directive 51″this gives bush complete contol over all branches of government in case of an “emergency”.
Dont think our government would “attack” it’s own soil to drum up support for war?Google “Operation Northwoods”
Have a nice life.
Chris you need to take a remedial course on self preservation. Also you need to devise a plan on how you would protect our great nation if you were prez.
If you honestly believe the tripe you just posted you need to liquidate everything you own, take your family and go to a country that governs the way you think it should.
Tell us all that plan so we can see how we are being abused as citizens. By the way what country would you go to that would be governed in the way you think it should?
Oh don’t get me started on that one Hillary for president. Yeah that’s all I need is another women bossing me around clean up you dirty socks can you rub my back.. now if your reading this and agreeing with me go put you pickup trunk in the garage before someone steals it because you are a man that is to weak to see a women could be better then your punk a$$, first off you probably work a decent job and make decent money but guess what there are women neurosurgeon’s you believe that Billy bob a women makes a ton more money then you and has an IQ you could only dream of, but know a women couldn’t be president. So for all you idiots who cant look at a person for what they stand for be it a women a man or whatever you need to go put your TV back on and watch that NASCAR. Vote for Hillary.
The United States government is SUPPOSED to be restrained by the CONSTITUION, but only if it’s citizens have the will to make it obey.
“They that would give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Benjamin Franklin.
Chris what essential liberty has been taken from us? I am always curious about this because I just don’t see it.
It’s what you Zionists did while nailing-up their homes, then bulldozing them with the Palestinians were screaming from inside their homes, and laughing while bulldozing Rachel Currie, an American peace activist standing in front of a Palestinian doctors home, trying to save it. Rice won’t move on Rachel’s death.
You Zionists are a piece of work…
The Patriot Act….
Ed I never could understand why Currie didn’t move when the bulldozer was coming toward her. How smart was that?
No saying it was right to run over her but from the top of a bulldozer you can’t see near objects.
The guy blocking the Chinese tanks during the massacre should have moved out of the way too.
The Pictures show both bulldozer drivers had a clear view of Rachel and crushing her was deliberate. Some people stand on principal, had for a G-D Zionist to understand, but read through the “Congressional Medal of Honor” recipients and perhaps you might begin to see what some Americans are willing to do, when it comes to do the right thing…
That’s why the Zionists will slowly die-off, even if justice fails.
Rachel was being pushed by the blade until the driver raise it and she slipped underneath. She screamed: “They’ve broken my back,” to her other friends standing by, then the driver backed back over her several times.
EdRegardless of the cherry picking you do to find things that people will not like about Israel —
The most FREQUENT cause of death in GAZA is “honor killing” or the brutal murder of Moslem women by Moslem men for “dishonor” to their family.
The Palestinians are ruled by barbarians.
Arabs with any sanity would much rather live under Israeli rule.
Dont think our government would “attack” it’s own soil to drum up support for war?Google “Operation Northwoods”Have a nice life.Posted by: Chris | August 16, 2007 at 03:15 PM——–Operation Northwoods, or Northwoods, was a 1962 plan by the US Department of Defense to cause acts of simulated or real terrorism and violence on US soil or against US interests, blamed on Cuba, in order to generate U.S. public support for military action against the Cuban government of Fidel Castro. This was while JFK was President.
The IDF kills at least a half dozen Palestinians daily in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Zionist’s “talking points” you are parroting are not true, nothing more than that.
“The U.S. is not the only one taking the latest panic attack on the chin.”
Yes, this is a world-wide crisis, and it seems to be the consensus opinion that I have read that our sub-prime lending practices are responsible. Regulation is not always a bad thing. The hands-off approach of the Bush administration on sub-prime lending is a disgrace.
Today the Fed Reserve said they weren’t going to do anything at this point about the crunch – this uncertainty seemed to worsen problems today.
Where are the ‘pubs crowing about our great economy?
crickets….
As Heckler would say.

Exactly right. Neil “Herpes” Bush was a key player in the Savings and Loan debacle that cost taxpayers billions in a picture-perfect example of “socialize costs, privatize profits.”
Now Brother Bush allows, nay, ENCOURAGES sketchy loans and then the inevitable happens.
Worst. President. Ever.

Maybe that’s why JFK wanted to shut the CIA down.

There are a host of solutions to the manufactured “energy crisis.”
Most houses in Wichita built before 1955 or so don’t have any insulation in the walls, many don’t have any in the attic.
Requiring new construction to be more energy efficient and giving tax breaks for it would make everybody happy.
You know, like Carter did before Reagan ridiculed it.
Using the natural thermal mass of the ground can reduce heating and cooling costs to 20 PERCENT of their costs now. Ground temp below about three feet is a constant 58 degrees.
CFC is run through pipes in the ground to heat it to 58 degrees in the winter or cool it to 58 degrees in the summer. And this is run through a heat pump device.
With alternative energy and fuel efficient houses and cars, we could reduce our energy dependancy instead of increasing it.
“Arabs with any sanity would much rather live under Israeli rule.”
Well, You got about 15,000 Palestinians in your jails in Israel who have not been charged with any crime, so, as you say, they’d rather live under Israeli rule, so why don’t you just fling open the Jailhouse door and let them live productive lives under your rule?
Then I could brag that you did something non-barbaric?
“EdRegardless of the cherry picking you do to find things that people will not like about Israel —”
You never took issue with any of the “things that people will not like about Israel”
You set aside your rotten behaviour and tried to find something wrong with Muslims.
That may be the main reason people do not like you. You’re not considering changing your bad behaviour, but trying to justify it by fault-finding the Muslims about something.
That reminds me about the Joke, where the guy goes to a doctor and says: “Doc it hurts when I do this,” and the Doctor says: “well, then, don’t do that.”
