Some leading conservatives now think Sam Brownback is overstaying his welcome in the presidential race. Rich Lowry, editor of the National Review, admires the Kansas senator’s pro-life views but thinks Brownback’s campaign is being driven by “attacks on other candidates for not being pro-life enough, or more precisely for not being pro-life soon enough. I find this pointless.” He also wrote: “The spectacle of such a self-consciously Christian candidate running perhaps the most negative of any of the campaigns is jarring and discomfiting.”
And Townhall.com columnist Michael Medved wrote, “For the sake of Uncle Sam, it’s time for this Sam to say ‘Uncle,’ before he does lasting damage to his honorable reputation by further pointless and slashing attacks on his fellow Republicans.”

“Honorable reputation”…where did Sam get an hororable reputation. Let’s see. This clown takes the paycheck as a senator from Kansas…doesn’t show up to vote. So Kansas is operating with one senator. No abortion even for rape and the earth was created in 7 days and is flat. His reputation isn’t ‘honorable’, his reputation is for being a wingnut jerk.
He did place third in the Iowa straw poll, that said I myself did respect him for sticking to his guns on what he believes until the attacks started a couple months ago. It does get me that he is consider a more viable candidate then Ron Paul. I do not think Brownback could win little alone get the nomination of the party, Gee I hope not anyway! It would all depend on to minority special interest groups, the Religious Right and the Neo-Cons. They teamed up to get Bush elected and now must decide if they can climb back into bed together to try and keep the White House. I thought that was funny (sad) that the Neo-Cons thought they could control the R.R. When the ship is going down, the Neo-Con lose faith and search for the nearest rope to climb down. The R.R., they still think they can just walk to shore if they keep the faith!
No Sammie, don’t do it!
God has called on you to serve a nation that’s gone astray!
There’s gambling, and drinking, and drugs all over! Gay people everywhere you turn!
America needs someone to pull the cord on it all!
Bush wasn’t man enough to go nuclear (or say it) bvut you will if God tells you to!
Don’t abandon the race now, Sammie. You’re just getting started!
Brownback should pull out of the campaign??? He should never have even gotten into it!! He is the most NON Presidential candidate I have ever seen since Lyndon LaRouche
Tells me a lot about the Republican candidates (and their chances) when we even ask the question about him staying or leaving.
You got that right, Linda!!
Is there anyone who can name the Republican candidate that has the slightest chance of WINNING the Presidency in ‘08?
What do the CONs dislike about Brownback?
The fact that he says the Christian-fundy-antiabortion bloc refuses to be the willing idiots anymore.
They want a piece of the action.
This is unacceptable to the CON kleptocracy which is in it for THE MONEY and just uses the fundies as the tools they are.
Everyday that Brownback is on the campaign trail is another day that the CONs have to face their “base”: the rural, willfully ignorant unwashed who only care about God, guns and gays.
Well said Capn.
The 26% the Republican leadership went to bed with but now can’t stand the sight of in the hard light of morning.
(Unless they make bacon and eggs and toast and maybe some biscuits&gravy.)
I’m no fan of Brownback but I say let the guy run as long as he has the money.
Look at it this way, at least the other Republican presidential candidates will have to deal with Sam. Sam will be so busy with his tactic of questioning everyone’s faith or having his staff send out memos or emails stating some whacked-out version of another’s faith to call it into question.
Sam will keep the whole bunch busy with their own implosion that the rest of the country will be spared having to deal with these morons.
Well said MM
maidmarion, What a refreshing way to look at this! I like the way your mind works!
Brownback is nothing more than Republican troll.
That said, he is certainly a thorn in their side.
I wonder if they wish they hadn’t created him in the first place?
Same old hate, just a different thread on a new day.
I think there are many on both sides of the aisle who shouldn’t be running. My objection to Sam is as with many other dems and repubs he doesn’t have the leadership qualities needed for this position.
I don’t see a strong candidate on either side that is the leader we need at this crucial time. If we were to honestly debate qualities needed for the prez I would be hard pressed to come up with praise for any of the front runners.
Romney would be the most qualified I guess but I don’t like his approach to universal healthcare in Mass. Business owners have nothing favorable to say about it.
Although it is a peek preview of what will happen when/if Hillary care becomes law. Individuals who chose not to buy healthcare even if it is offered are now being forced to pay for it. This isn’t setting well with these free thinkers.
Oh well another post for another day.
He is only using the race to Launder Money. He is an idiot. He could care less about people. He has proved this repeatedly against the Kansas Residents. He is a TROLL. Washington loves him because he supresses Freedoms and Rights. He should be removed from the Kansas Legislature as well as from the Presidental Race. I have yet to see anyone who I would vote for. The lesser of 2 evils ahs prevailed for years on end. Ask the Dead American Soldiers and their Families. VOTE “NON-OF-THE-ABOVE”. Demand accountability!!! The White House has promised two powerful reforms that will finally move illegal workers out of the workplace. Please support the “no-match letter” and “E-Verify” initiatives.
The goal of the business and illegal alien lobbies has always been to make the illegal alien population permanent, and to guarantee a steady stream of cheap, foreign labor. Until now, it looked like they had exclusive access to the government’s ear. But now that the Senate’s amnesty bill has died, more and more elected officials are listening to their constituents, and considering the “attrition through enforcement” solution as an alternative to amnesty.
Naturally, the business and pro-illegal-immigration lobby has mounted a vehement opposition to these new enforcement initiatives. They have resorted to name-calling and fear-mongering.
The fact is, the only people who have anything to fear from these enforcement initiatives are those who have broken the law. Even then, the initiatives leave room for the violators to make right, without prosecution. Employers have a window of opportunity to replace their illegal workers with legal immigrants or American citizens before any penalty is levied, and illegal workers are free to return to their native countries without any further punishment for violating our national sovereignty.
This is a fair and efficient way to deal with the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in the country. No mass roundups will be necessary. At the same time, this is a long stride towards economic justice for the 23 million “less-educated” American working-age adults who do NOT have a job.
Please Do everything possible to support the “no-match letter” and “E-Verify” initiatives.

We need this absentee senator to jump on and support the following issue. There are a lot of us here in Kansas who are not happy with his performance as a senator and most likely will not vote for him again unless he begins EARNING HIS KEEP, STARTING TODAY.

Sam who?
Bye Sam, even your own are tired of you.
Bye Sam. I used to support you too.
But lately you have gone off the deep end and no longer actively support the ideals I believe in. In fact, in some cases you have gone completely the other way. If you must know, the last nail in your figurative coffin was your dismal voting record. That’s when I got my hammer out.
Having met you and met with you many times over the years I don’t think there is a nicer person in the world than you. Off track and misguided lately, but still a nice guy.
But nice guys do finish last.
The party needs a leader. More importantly they need a leader FAST.
Rhonda, are you saying Our calls for Brownback to pack it in weren’t notable?
Hotdog,
With all due respect, your party needs _reform._ Traditional Republicans are bailing out of your party faster than women and children were unloaded from the Titanic.
Watch out for icebergs.
Myself included Tom. I voted a split ticket last election for the first time in my life. Local election the acception at all times.
Brownback does not represent me and I believe the conservative base. Call it reform if you like, but I rather think it’s looking within the base and seeing what issues are important and which are no longer mainstream.
That’s why republicans need a leader fast.
Kansas has become incredibly corrupt. Neither party is serving the needs of its members any more and Brownback and Sebilious are symbolic of how out of touch and bought off these people become once they’re elected.
Oops, typo Sebelious the coal company stooge, not Sebilious. Maybe I’m going into denial that she even exists.
How about a poll? Who’s the biggest loser, Sebelious, or Brownback?
Actually, someone mentioned Sam as a troll. Here’s a thought, Sam goes in and does a number on all the other conservatives running, knowing he can’t win either, and then gets a nod for Veep from the mod that gets the presidential tag.
Dump,
It seems unlikely that the Senator from Kansas will be on the banks of the Jordan any time soon when the high priests of conservative journalism are issuing admonitory oracles.
he should have never packed his suitcase to begin with – he was NEVER a serious candidate.
the only thing he was serious about was missing a LOT of senate votes – way to represent, Kansas, Sam.
If only Brownback had the endorsement of a B movie actor who lost touch with reality years ago. If only….
I thought Brownback was a B movie actor given that his lines seem to change everyday.
Nah, Brownback isn’t a B movie actor because actors tend to show up for work.
