After Reps. Mark Foley and Rick Renzi, lobbyist Jack Abramoff and Sens. David Vitter and Ted Stevens, Republicans didn’t think the scandals could get any worse. Wrong.
"The real question for Republicans in Washington is how low can you go, because we are approaching a level of ridiculousness," GOP strategist Scott Reed lamented to the New York Times about the scandal involving Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho. "You can’t make this stuff up. And the impact this is having on the grass-roots around the country is devastating. Republicans think the governing class in Washington are a bunch of buffoons who have total disregard for the principles of the party, the law of the land and the future of the country."

Let the whining about the lack of negative stories on Democrats begin.
We just may found out how much lower the GOP can go during confirmation hearings for AG.
But you know what? The GOP is really, really, REALLY lucky that1. Self-loathing GOP politicians all come out at basically the same time, and2. That time is late summer, esp. August, when absolutely nobody is paying attention.
Things could have been MUCH worse for the GOP if Larry Craig had spanked the monkey until the Bad Thoughts went away on that June day, and waited instead until next month to go toe-tappin’.
It goes to show, those that have to scream “family values” “I love Jesus” from the rooftops usually have the most to hide.
Alot of good people don’t, because they have nothing to prove. The Republican party has turned into a sewer.
GOP = Gang of Perverts.
While the sex stuff is indicative, it’s really a sideshow. The GOP is rotten from top to bottom, inside out, with corruption and abuse.
What?! You mean the party of selfishness acts . . . uh . . . selfish?
Surprise, surprise.
Now you guys, I don’t think you need to get so judgmental.
Cold Cash Jefferson.
That’s one, Outlander, shall we start the list of Republicans?
Starting…… now.
Duke “Eight Mil” Cunningham
Bob “Won’t Resign” Ney
The only thing outlander comes up with is Cold Cash Jefferson? I think the main theme of the GOP problems lies in their sexual behavior – at least Jefferson just had cold cash stashed. To me, being a politician that takes bribes is just your everyday, normal politician. That is bad but the GOP party has had too many of their brightest stars fall in disgrace due to their sexual behaviors.
Scott Reed (Republican strategist and super right wing patriot) says:
“…Republicans think the governing class in Washington are a bunch of buffoons who have total disregard for the principles of the party, the law of the land and the future of the country.”
Brownback to the rescue!!!!
‘”…the impact this is having on the grass-roots around the country is devastating. Republicans think the governing class in Washington are a bunch of buffoons who have total disregard for the principles of the party, the law of the land and the future of the country.”‘
Perhaps it is time for a third party to come onto the scene in a big way.
There are a lot of folks who used to identify themselves as Republicans but do not see traditional ‘Republican’ value in the Republican party anymore. There are also many Democrats that are tired of the pandering, wishy-washy style of many Democratic leaders.
How about
“the governing class in Washington are a bunch of buffoons who have total disregard for the principles of the party, the law of the land and the future of the country.”
for a reason not to bring back the draft?
You want your daughter or your neighbor’s daughter forced to fight in Iran or Iraq or God knows where for an insane President?
My bad…wrong thread.
I would like to see a third party also because I believe there are alot of Democrats and Republicans alike that are fed up with this polarizing politics.
And even then, the American citizens need to keep an eye on the government because it should be the government of the people and by the people.
We have too many long-time politicians in power and even if they retire – they only move over to K-Street and start their lobbyist career. And we all know about Jack Abramhoff and his dealings.
A decent, honest politician does not have a chance in today’s political scene.
Larry Craig said on video working for Mitt Romney’s campaign:
“Knowing Governor Mitt Romney is knowing someone who, first and foremost, has very strong family values. That is something I grew up with and believe in.”
Live by “family values,” die by “family values.”
Larry Craig’s definition of family values must be different than mine. My father never waited in public mens restrooms for his next quickie.
GOP = Gay Old Party. What can you expect from a bunch of guys who have no interest in legal abortion (gays never need to get one), love guns (something immensely arousing by a long, hard rifle), hate sex in movies (because it’s usually heterosexual sex), and obsess about gay sex (something keeps them focused).
Or perhaps the GOP will blame Clinton for this. Since he apparently destroyed all concepts of values and such the male Republicans just instantly went out and had sex with other men. Not to say all male Republicans had sex with other men, there was David Vitter who just stuck with female prostitutes.
It should come as no surprise that Limbaugh sounds so much like Limbo.
“How LOW can you go?”
But as the concrete thinkers around here will claim, at least Larry Craig is not a hypocrite. To be a hypocrite he would have had to have advocated for eliciting gay sex from an undercover agent in airport restrooms – Let the record show, he did no such thing…
should have been “advocated *against*”
Approaching Ridiculous? It’s been there for quite a while. Which is exactly why we dems are scratching our heads that there are any republican supporters left.
I wonder if we’re going to hear about family values in this election from the Republicans. Oh Sam? Maybe you should change parties.
I agree that the Republican party is split, split between actual mere conservatives, religious fanatics, and business tycoons that want as much freedom and corporate welfare as possible.
As far as the dems, yes they can be wishy washy, and I wish they’d make a flipping stand sometimes. However at the same time they’re also more eclectic and REASONABLE and flexible…and I don’t want that to change.
The problem is that there is no viable alternative to the Republican party, Pmom. Social conservatives are not going to be welcomed into the Democrat party. Not that we would consider joining.
So we’ll slog on, fix what is broken, and live to fight another day. Don’t worry, just a short while in power and the Dems will have their scandals, like always.
Political parties are made of men and women. And men and women are fallible. They are going to do stupid stuff. Count on it.
That’s really kind of depressing. But you shouldn’t put your faith in people. Which means you shouldn’t put your faith in political parties or governments.
After all, the only perfect person lived over 2,000 years ago.
Sure we’ll have our scandals too. But overall, throughout the last 60 year history, Dems’s scandals aren’t even close to republican scandals.
I think it’s the nature of how republicans feel about things. and you’re right- I’m not about to let the social cons enter my party.
Right on Outlander. Took the words right out of my mouth.
There are and will always be scandals on both sides of the aisle. We don’t have to name them because we all know who they are.
MM I agree with you that we need a party of the people. Power does corrupt and that is all we have left in Washington. Both sides.
………has a wide stance, I’m not gay and the Idaho Statesman is a liberal rag………yea right Larry
Apparently, Craig can go very low, judging by the bathroom arrest. If that’a indicative of the Republicans, I suppose we had better start digging that ditch.
Paybacks are hell ain’t they!
After all of this…all the neocons can say is that both sides are corrupt?
No. That doesn’t cut it anymore. This is WAY past a few corrupt politicians.
“There are and will always be scandals on both sides of the aisle.”
Yeah, but Democrats just screw up. Republicans on the other hand…
They preach about family values and then get caught violating those very same values. It’s not so much WHAT they do as it is the hypocrisies.
The republic party is rotten to the core. So are those who support it.
Republican Pary, an abyss without bottom.
XXX,
Both my father and I support the Republican party.
Are you saying we are rotten to the core as well?
Exactly Nathan. It is not logical to impune a party of millions based on the acts of a very few. But that doesn’t stop them from trying.
Watch how quickly hypocrite Craig is purged. That’s how you will determine whether the party itself should be criticized.
So many of these people who scream against gay rights turn out to be secretly gay. Why do they hate themselves so much? Why do they displace their anger at themselves by seeking to persecute other gay people, who want nothing more than to be allowed to live their private lives and love whomever they want?
>After all, the only perfect person lived over 2,000 years ago.<
Yes…and that man is NOT a Republican or a Democrat. And Christians do not have to belong to one or the other of those parties.
Why is no one calling for David Vitter to resign?
Politics of course. The Republicans could care less about morals, its all about politics.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/08/28/politics/animal/main3213968.shtml
Honestly, Republicans only say both sides are corrupt when they get caught themselves. Back in the Clinton days, the Republican party was pure as the driven snow and the corruption was only on one side, wasn’t it?
So true ??? Remember all those Republics salivating at the thought that Johnson of South Dakota might die and give them a Senate seat?
Recall reading somewhere that Senator Johnson has made a full recovery, and is expected back in the Senate full time once the August recess is over. Glad to hear he’s recovered.
Yep. Eat your ‘hearts’ (sic) out Repukes!
GOP,
I know of no one on either side of the aisle that wanted Senator Johnson to die.
You need to stop making things up for political talking points.
That’s not only false, it’s an insult to every decent minded American.
No one wished that he would die, Troll, but many on the Republican side wanted him to resign so that the Republican Governor could appoint a (gasp!) Republican Senator and therefore tip the balance in the Senate to the GOP.
Well, that’s different WSClark.
The people of his state are entitled to representation whether it be Republican or Democrat.
Senator Johnson should have resigned.
“thank you for coming out today”larry craig
however, larry craig decided not to yesterday.
does anyone still listen to or believe tucker carlson?
“Senator Johnson should have resigned.”
And Brownback and McCain should resign so that the Democratic Governors of their states can name Democrats as their replacements.
After all, they are just part time workers.
Tucker Carlson boy friends listen to him.
Oops-
Tucker Carlson’s boy friends listen to him.
I see that WSClark still calls me troll.
I’ll call him from now on, the 400 pound mouth breathing orangutan.
Political parties are made of men and women. And men and women are fallible. They are going to do stupid stuff. Count on it.
Posted by: outlander | August 29, 2007 at 02:34 PM
The fallibility appears to be extremely consistent when it comes to being devoid of ethics. I wonder if ethics are surgically removed. If so, one can compare ethics to abortion; ie pro-think vs pro-show-me-the-money.
Let’s see – this is coming from a poster that called me a “Heebie” and WS Troll and questioned my sexuality.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm………………
Double standard much, Troll?
The Republicans only use “family values” shit to rile up religious fundies who are idiot enough to fall for anything their Gods- the Republicans- tell them. The Republicans always promise them things like “family values” and no legal abortions and yes, 30 years after Roe vs Wade, abortion is still very legal and the Republicans know it always will be. But you can wave a flag and a Bible in this country and about 30% of the population will believe anything you say. But the nice thing is that more and more of the other 70% of us are catching on to the Republicans and what they REALLY stand for which is endless needless wars and less for us and more for the rich.
I don’t know 400 pound mouth breathing orangutan, you have no probably questioning the sexuality of Senator Craig.
Double Standard much?
probably = problem
If they can impeach Clinton for getting a hummer they should impeach Craig for giving one.
“I don’t know 400 pound mouth breathing orangutan, you have no probably questioning the sexuality of Senator Craig.”
I didn’t question Craig’s sexuality. If I did, copy and past or admit that you lied.
But you expect that posters will address you by your nic, but you call me WS Troll and Heeebie.
So, why the double standard?
Can’t live by your own rules, Troll?
“”"I agree that the Republican party is split, split between actual mere conservatives, religious fanatics, and business tycoons that want as much freedom and corporate welfare as possible.”"”
The Republican Party exist only to serve the corporate class. Everything else they say about anything- religion, abortion, gun rights or whatever is secondary to serving the robber baron class. The Republicans will strive to throw red meat to the fools that actually think the party is for them. For example, it will vote for gun rights to appease the NRA but only until the gun rights agenda offends the robber baron class. Then the GOP will ALWAYS take the side of the robber baron class. Same with any other issue. For example, here in Georgia, you can go down and get a background check and be issued a permit to carry a firearm. But there are so many places “off limits” that effectively you are banned from the exercise of your right to carry a firearm even with a permit. For example you employer may ban you from having even ammunition in your OWN car just because it is parked in the employer’s parking lot. We have tried for 3 years to get this changed but when the NRA runs up against the Chamber of Commerce, guess who the Republicans are going to side with! This is the Republicans tossing you red meat while serving their real masters who are the rich.
GOP, a Senator cannot be impeached. Under the rules of the Senate, however, s/he may be expelled if the body votes to so do. The House did that to Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., over something which I now do not recall; he sued, and eventually SCOTUS held that the House was well within its Constitutional powers in expelling him.
Perhaps it is time for a third party to come onto the scene in a big way.

I would like to see a third party also because I believe there are alot of Democrats and Republicans alike that are fed up with this polarizing politics.
Posted by: maidmarion | August 29, 2007 at 01:25 PM
We had our chance. The greatest bipartisan political coup occurred over Clinton’s bj. Between the mid-60’s and mid 90’s third party support had grown consistently. While not winning seats, they did influence outcomes. This caused great concern for both of ‘THE’ parties since predictability of INDEPENDENT/NON-COMMITTED voters were not in-the-bag.
The bj resulted in a ‘paper’ impeachment by the House and a ‘paper’ no vote by the Senate. This effectively party polarized the public for who knows how long.
Anyone who registers other than Independent is a pre-counted in-the-bag-vote with respect to party planning/objectives. All that is gained is the entitlement to vote in party primaries. However, non-committed voters get attention; and with enough of them their district does also. And you can still be a lib or a con thinker.
“”"The problem is that there is no viable alternative to the Republican party, Pmom. Social conservatives are not going to be welcomed into the Democrat party. Not that we would consider joining.”"”
If the Democrat EVER start going after “social conservatives”, they can kiss my ass and my vote goodbye. We do not need people that want to take the country back to witch burning days in our party. They should stay in the GOP where they spend the next 30 years trying to make abortions and homosexuality a felony and to force their small minded version of God on school children. Their agenda is going NOWHERE and neither are they.
“”"GOP, a Senator cannot be impeached. Under the rules of the Senate, however, s/he may be expelled if the body votes to so do. The House did that to Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., over something which I now do not recall; he sued, and eventually SCOTUS held that the House was well within its Constitutional powers in expelling him.”"”
No Democrat should vote to expel Craig. He is the Republicans problem and we need to allow him to remain their problem.
Actually, I called you Heevie WSClark not Heebie.
So you are the liar. Any spelling of Heebie was probably a typo as the v and the b are next to each other on the keyboard.
Tell everyone why you claim to be 195 pounds WSClark, when you are really a 400 pound grease eating orangutan.
You know, it’s getting to the point that a guy can’t even go to the bathroom anymore without having to worry about some sicko Republican sniffing around the toilet seat.I have no issue with gays, just the ones who won’t let you go to the bathroom in peace.
“Actually, I called you Heevie WSClark not Heebie.”
So your request that anyone (especially Tom) address you by your chosen nic is just bullshit, Troll?
Why do the rules apply to everyone else but not you?
And it was “Heebie” not once, but repeatedly.
So what should we call you, Troll?
You must have that “look”.
“So you are the liar.”
And show me where I questioned Craig’s sexuality.
Or admit that you lied.
Troll.
At least WSClark did not deny being a 400 pound grease eating orangutan.
We are making headway here.
Let me understand. He had anti-gay votes and then broke the law doing something that involved homosexuality. He should then resign?
But a Kansas State Legislator who prosecuted drunk drivers and pushed for stronger DUI sentences who then went out and got arrested for driving drunk himself, should remain in office and still be the second ranking democratic leader in the Kansas House.
Gay sex = no one getting hurt.
Drunk driving = innocent people being killed.
Larry Craig = badJim Ward = good
Now who are the hypocrites?
Why can’t you answer the questions, Troll?
Yes the problem is to be a hypocrite, I am a Christian but if anyone followed me for as little as twenty four hours and then judged me by the perceived total standards that are imposed on someone claiming the faith. They would loudly and in some respects rightfully accuse me of NOT being a Christian. That is why I tend not to judge others as harshly as others might. I do not go around claiming a superiority over others because of my believes and judging them accordingly to the believe.
Whether Craig is gay, Bi-sexual or likes to wear J. Edgar Hovers old dresses is NOT the issue with me. But his vocally opposing the issues concerning Gay conduct while engaging in the life style himself IS.When I went into Law enforcement, I gave up some old habits one that as a person I did not see as anyone else’s business but my own. (Man I do miss some good smoke even today) But I could not justify arresting, jailing and filing charges against someone else for doing what I would have done once back home. It just is wrong! I could have and no one but me would have been the wiser, but the catch phrase is “but me”.
Throws a burger at the 400 pound grease eating orangutan and watches him fly across the room to catch the grease burger with his feet.
The Republic Party co-opted traditional conservative philosophies and literally took it to the bank.
Only problem was a bunch of hypocritical Republics took it to the sperm bank.
In Alaska, the Republic Party scandal is how Ted Stevens (et al) railed against the federal goverment but turned around and bilked the feds for millions upon billions…from the feds.
Mark Foley and Larry Craig rode their proclaimed *outrage* at gay rights while manipulating their positions of political power to bugger boys and strangers on-line and in anonymous airport restrooms.
Anti-abortion zealots have had Reagan since the 80s, Congress since the 90s, and Shrub since 2001 to believe, perhaps, the Republic Party hasn’t been using them for nothing but political gain. How’s that worked out for you twice-borns?
Remember when your biggest issue in the world was the effort to hang the 10 Commandments in court houses? How did that work out after election day?
It’s been nearly 50 years since the Republics attracted you because you objected to forced Christian prayer in public schools. Just how has the Republic Party delivered on that particular issue?
Not so much?
Ever wonder why?
It’s because agnostic Karl Rove and others have manipulated your religious beliefs toward an agenda that doesn’t care a whit about your reality.
In the United States of America, you’re entitled to pray for all sorts of things, but you’re limited to vote for things that can be achieved by mere human activities.
The constitutional government of the United States of America isn’t about tradition, isn’t about faith, isn’t about prejudice or bias or myth or religion; it’s about law and equal protection under the law.
For the past 20 years or so the Republic Party has thrived by leveraging bigotry against the concept of equal protection under the law.
Mark Foley thought his position in the Republic Party hierarchy might give him leave to butt-fuc# pages. Larry Craig gave Minneapolis police his official Senate business card in hopes they’d give him a deal. And then he took the deal. And then he blamed “the media” when it revealed what he’d done.
WSClark,
Because Kansas is a troll, and trolls do not answer questions… or admit that they’re wrong.
Why can’t you answer the questions, Troll?
Posted by: WSClark | August 29, 2007 at 06:30 PM
With the Trolls posts on this thread, you can clearly see just how low the GOP can go – rank hypocrisy in demanding that he be called by his nic, while insulting others with false names – demanding respect for himself, while making stupid accusations against those that disagree with him – calling others liars, while lying himself.
How low can the GOP go?
As the Blank One, he REPRESENTS his party completely.
In other words, he is a hypocrite, just like the GOP is the Party of Hypocrisy.

This is just tooooooo funny – a gay hating Senator turns out to be gay.
Perhaps he just “chose” to be gay that particular day. If you believe that homosexuality is a choice, then apparently you would also believe that anyone could just “choose” that avenue on any given day.
As I said, tooooooo funny.

Cosmos,
Why not? Calling people names is about the only thing you do in our discussions….
Note how cosmos posts “stuff” off-topic in all threads.
As I said, cosmos is a one trick pony only capable of of pretending to be a scientist.
cosmos is a non-scientist depending on URL’s to boost his small intellect.

And, by the way, Troll, why do you DEMAND that you be addressed by your nic, but you call me “Heebie” and “WS TRoll?”
“Why not? Calling people names is about the only thing you do in our discussions…”

Posting that people are not climate scientists, or are retired and inactive is “name calling”?
Posting that they earlier spread lies about tobacco is “name calling”?

I regularly addressed you as RepubliKhan and Republican and Kansas and whatever other nic you were using, yet you referred to me as WS Troll.

Do the little leftist two step.
WSClark lied and I’ve shown it.
WSClark is a liar.
Had Craig been a dem the libs here would be moaning about tolerance and understanding. They would be talking about a man forced in the closet by an intolerant America.
PS: What is about public restrooms that so appeals to homos? I recall that the creep McGreevy met his Israeli spy lover in similar circumstances.

When the Right Wingers joke, the Left is always “humorless” if we don’t “get it” but the Right can’t take a joke about one of their own.
I never personally accused Craig of being gay – I repeatedly what was on the news.
A gay Senator that was against gay rights.
That was the news.
Get over yourself, Kansas, or whatever you call yourself these days.
I still like littlejohn’s remark about listening to a MP3 player while in the stall.
There could be the possibility of all sorts of foot tapping in that case.
I wonder if there is a morse type code amongst all these signals.
I mean do they tap out in long and short?
Does foot scraping mean anything?
If one removes his shoes in a stall, is that an indication of public indecency?
I suppose that toe nail clipping or any other grooming routines would run all some self-mutilation statute as suicidal tendencies.
Would open toed sandals be more of violation of the law than sneakers or a nice pair of wingtips?
Does clicking ones heels together indicate an Oz factor and the request for wizardry involvement?
Toe curling…hmmmm…not going there.
Also, I bet the open and closing of Velcro on one’s shoes might indicate a provocative sound stimulus.
Perhaps the untied shoe is also suggestive?
Cowboy boots? Rodeo anyone? Or would that “stirrup” too much of cattle related herding techniques?
Bedroom slippers would probably get one arrested on sight.
Wooden Clogs, the Dutch method.
Penney loafers? Solicitation of paid sex?
The possibilities are endless.
Saddle oxfords, spats, air jordans, nike, puma, adidas…
heck…this could a break through for establishing a new Federal Law Enforcement agency!I wonder if the Democratic Congress would fund it?
What would it be called?
Foot Oversight Observation Team ?(F.O.O.T)
Or maybe
Tap It Police (T.A.P.)
… hmmm…
And running his hand under the partition (three times) and nudging the cop’s foot and peering in between the stall door and making an oral sex indication was just innocent actions also, right?
If Craig was so innocent, why did he plead guilty?

Scroll past my posts about AGW, if you don’t want to read the facts.

WSC is gettin’ wood describing the incident.
gul dukat… How’s Terok Nor?
….Another juvenile fifth grader attempting to accuse someone of being homosexual.
Pathetic.
By the way, Nut, did you decide to be heterosexual today?
How is that “choice” thing working out for you, anyway?
ahhh, so predictable. and unoriginal.
Just when you think that the GOP can’t get any lower than Kansas, KSGolfnut shows up to prove that there is a point even lower than that.
JB……………..Gul Dukat dissapeared into the fire pits on Bajor with Commander Sisko. Sisko ascended to become one of the wormhole aliens………..Dukat definately perished in the flames of hell, as I wish this Dukat and his RW rhetoric would.
so fun to see more republican “family values” in action. how low can the gop go?………….low enough.
Looks like someone else is calling the party hypocrite.”A Washington watchdog group welcomed the Republican leadership’s decision to seek an ethics investigation against Craig but it questioned why they had not sought a similar probe of Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, also a Republican.
Vitter admitted a “serious sin” in July after he was linked to “D.C. Madam” Deborah Jeane Palfrey, who is accused of running a prostitution ring in Washington. She says it was a legal escort service.
“The only possible interpretation of the Republicans’ differing reaction to the two cases is that Sen. Craig’s case involves gay sex. Apparently soliciting for heterosexual sex does not offend the ‘family values’ platform in the way that soliciting for gay sex does,” the Committee for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said in a statement.
Anybody else notice, that the election is being decided for us. Its most likely Hilary, against Giluani. The media, and everybody else is acting like a choice isn’t even available. This is sick. I don’t want Hilary or Giluani. Does it even matter, as I’ve heard several people say, all the candidates are basically bought out by large corporations, so what we get is every candidate spewing pre-written rebuttals that support their wealthy constituencies. So all the candidates basically tell everybody what they want to hear, to make an election appear legitimate. It’s decided by the electoral vote system anyway, not us. Campaign contributions should be done away with, we don’t have a choice on who we want to run this country, its the lobbyists for the wealthy constituencies donating monetary contributions, which most are probably back door deals that are unaccounted for. It’s basically the fortune 500 companies that run this country, and the owners of all those companies could give a shi t less whats best for the country, they want whats best for their business and protecting those interests, as well as making international trade agreements, and starting for profit wars. Anybody know about the super highway thats gonna run through Wichita to Kansas City, that will connect Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. Just means better business relations with corrupt Mexico. This country has been asleep since the drug induced hippie era, its about time we wake up, and smell the shi t, and quit fighting with each other on hot button issues that distract us from the real issues going on. Those large corporations provide a lot of nice amenities for modern day life, but they need to be held accounted for the actions they make that affect this country, and further blankets the world toward a globalized, wal-mart and starbuck place to live. Is that what we want, do we want the world to be a cardboard cutout of a McDonalds every 10 miles wherever you go in the world. Do we want to put a starbucks in the pyramids of Egypt. America has already lost a lot of its culture due to cloned franchise stores owned by multi-conglomerated business that keep merging together, and buying out small successful business, and making soulless cloned stores, that pay minimum wage, and outsource their jobs to sweat shops in third world countries, why? More money saved, more money earned. More money. When is there enough money for some of these ceo’s that get 60 percent of the profits, while they employ thousands of people and the other 40 percent trickles down to shit paying jobs. When are Americans going to wake up, and realize the economic power we hold, if the citizens of our country decides to collectively boycott some of these companies that play unfairly. We’re a nation divided by left and right, republican and democrat, and thats exactly the game they want us to play into. Because if we we’re all well educated and actually untied we might pose a threat to some of the massive behemoth conglomerated merger corporations that give a lambs shit about the citizens.
I do hope the Left absolutely believe what the media tells them to believe.
That’s one of the ways the Dems lost the last two Presidential elections.
Hook, line and sinker…
All those polls slurped in like political spaghetti.
Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho’s biggest mistake is being a Republican. If he was only a Democrat, he could still be in congress. He would only have to accept a censure, receive a standing ovation from his fellow Democrats and continue to be voted back in at each election. Newspapers across the country would come to his defense. If only he was a Democrat.
More than that Right Angle, if Craig was a Democrat, they would have selected him to be in charge of the Senate Ethics Committee.

‘INVENTING INVENTED THE INTERNET! No one said Boo about Gore’s remark. Then, the RNC spin-points arrived:’http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh120302.shtml
You mean like this cosmos?
http://www.rcfp.org/news/mag/25-1/cov-networks.html
“Before 8 p.m. on Nov. 7, NBC, CBS, CNN, Fox, ABC and the Associated Press called Florida for Gore
Tauzin said research by a Yale researcher may show that as many as 10,000 voters were discouraged from filing their votes by the early projections.”
Troll Kansas,
NO… by LYING and misquoting Gore, which cut his votes NATIONWIDE.
“… may show that as many as 10,000 voters were discouraged from filing their votes by the early projections.”
“MAY show”, in “winter 2001″ ?? Those voters had NO other reason to vote that last hour, EXCEPT for the U.S. pres. vote?? No other votes re local, state, and federal??
That darn vast right wing conspiracy at work again…
They are like the Boogy Man. The left keeps claiming they are out there trying to get them.
BOOGA BOOGA BOO! THE VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY IS GOING TO GET YOU…
LOL
Nathan,
Hopefully, some day you will be able to read, and think more clearly.
Our dysfunctional, corporate and conglomerate owned, profit-driven media does NOT = a “vast right wing conspiracy”.
Our MSM is just dysfuntional, etc…
Cosmos,
I can read and think very well, thank you.
Nathan,
Your posts here prove that you can’t read, and that you don’t “think very well”.
Speaking of non-functional, here are some quotes from the GORACLE. You know that giant brain of a man, who knows everything there is to know about Global Warming. enjoy :)
“A zebra does not change its spots.” – Al Gore, attacking President George Bush in 1992.
“We can build a collective civic space large enough for all our separate identities, that we can be e pluribus unum — out of one, many.” E Pluribus Unum is the motto on the Great Seal of the United States of America, and is Latin for “out of many, one,” not “out of one, many.”
Maybe Michael Jordan hasn’t made an indelible impression on everyone outside Chicago. Speaking at a D.C. function, Vice President Al Gore, wowed by the Bulls, said: “I tell you that Michael Jackson is unbelievable, isn’t he. He’s just unbelievable.”( Source: The Chicago Tribune June 17, 1998 )
In 1996, Al Gore visited a school in a largely Hispanic portion of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In an effort to fit in, he decided it would be appropriate to say something in Spanish as he took the stage. He was probably supposed to say “Muchisimas Gracias”, which means “Very, very much thanks” or possibly “Muchas Gracias”, which means “thank you very much.” Instead, he walked on stage saying “Machismo Gracias” – roughly translated to “manliness thanks.” There’s a video clip of the press in Albuquerque giggling about it and saying, “Oh well, he’s trying.”
Oct. 25 2000 JACKSON, Tenn. (Reuters) — Criticizing Bush’s Social Security privatization plan at a rally in Tennessee, Gore said, “He is proposing to privatize a big part of Social Security and he’s proposing to take $1 trillion, a million billion dollars out of the Social Security trust fund and give it as a tax incentive to young workers.”A trillion is one thousand billion, not a million billion.
At a Sept. 22 press conference, Gore stated “I’ve been a part of the discussions on the strategic reserve since the days when it was first established.” However, President Ford established the Strategic Petroleum Reserves when he signed the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) on December 22, 1975 — two years before Al Gore became a congressman(Source: Washington Post, Sept. 24 2000)
Milwaukee, WI – “I’m very familiar with the importance of dairy farming in Wisconsin. I’ve spent the night on a dairy farm here in Wisconsin. If I’m entrusted with the presidency, you’ll have someone who is very familiar with what the Wisconsin dairy industry is all about.”(Sources: Sunday, June 18, Atlanta Journal Constitution and The Washington Post, June 14, 2000)
Gore sometimes shows publicly that he lacks Clinton’s finesse. Take a reception in Los Angeles last month. It was Gore’s moment to shine before donors who ponied up $2.8 million. But he wound up egg-faced when he compared electing a Republican as president to rejecting an Oscar-winning team in favor of the producers of the Hollywood clunker ”Howard the Duck.” One of the evening’s hosts, Jeffrey Katzenberg, was a driving force behind ”Howard the Duck.” The crowd tittered.(Source: USA Today, May 8, 2000 )
From Meet the Press 12/19/99MR. RUSSERT: Senator, what did you think of the 1996 Clinton-Gore campaign’s approach to fund-raising?MR. BRADLEY: I thought that a lot of people in politics were embarrassed by it, quite frankly. I think Republicans and Democrats were disgraceful in that fund-raising program in 1996. Now, I think Al had the right point. It’s the lessons that you learn. In 1990, I raised a lot of money for my Senate race. I raised too much money. I discovered that you can have too much money in a political campaign. I think that’s what George Bush is going to discover. Now, in Al’s case, the attorney general investigated it fully and determined that an independent counsel was not needed. And so – and the Republicans might make that an issue, but that’s the reality. But I think the question is what you learn from this. And what I learned is that you’ve had seven years to actually do something on campaign-finance reform, and nothing has happened. I remember visiting the White House in 1993, Democratic Congress, both Senate and House, and urging the president to act on campaign-finance reform. Now, I don’t know if you were in the loop or not, but the fact of the matter is that no action took place. And when we say what we…VICE PRES. GORE: Because all the Republicans voted against it.MR. BRADLEY: …what we need to do…VICE PRES. GORE: And they controlled the Senate.MR. BRADLEY: …what we – where was the effort made, Al, in 1993?VICE PRES. GORE: We got every single Democratic senator to vote for it.
Cosmos,
Is that seriously the only thing you can do? Call people names?
Every time I get into a discussion with you, it always comes down to you calling people names.
Ok, you win. I can’t think or read.
However, I wouldn’t take my admission to the bank, since it is coming from someone who couldn’t read or think…
Nathan,
1) Read this link that I posted upthread, and then explain why you posted, “darn vast right wing conspiracy at work again” after it.
http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh120302.shtml
2) Try to prove that the RNC did NOT run a smear campaign against Gore. You cannot, because they did.
Cosmos,
I read the link.
My comment was in response to this:
“Your party can’t win, unless the media spreads LIES.”
What was the lie? That Al Gore claimed to have invented the internet? It is exactly what he said.
Your links only argument was that the media waited 2 days to go after Gore on that…
So what? There could be numerous reasons for not immediatley talking about it.
What does that prove? That people in the RNC were out to show what a fool Gore was for saying that?
Well Duh!
Both parties do just that. Bush can’t say one thing without the left turning it into a circus and you want to sit here and act like it is a crime that the Republicans make fun of Gore for saying something stupid?
Notice how I didn’t have to call you any names to make my point.
Nathan,
You actually believe that “create” is an 100% EXACT synonym of “invent”?
Thank you for proving my earlier point.
Cosmos,
They are indeed synonyms.
I didn’t know there was a percentage associated with words being synonyms.
I thought a word is either a synonym or it isn’t.
Perhaps you could enlighten a non-thinker like myself with a link to how words are rated in percentage as being a synonyms?
I will do my best to read it :)
Nathan,
Thank you for AGAIN proving my earlier point. Learn about context.
Cosmos,
Your earlier point about synonyms?
I told you, I don’t think they are rated by percentages. Either a word is a synonym or it is not.
Is invent not a synonym of create?
What is the difference in this context?
I don’t see one.
“However, President Ford established the Strategic Petroleum Reserves when he signed the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) on December 22, 1975 — two years before Al Gore became a congressman” Source: Washington Post, Sept. 24 2000)
Posted by the troll Kansas.
Thank you TROLL Kansas, for helping me PROVE my point, about our dysfunctional MEDIA.
How many barrels of oil went into the SPR when it was “established” on Dec. 22, 1975???
ZERO! And it was “established” with NO location, NO policies, NO facilities, etc.
Gore was on the 1977 committee that ACTUALLY “established” the locations, policies, facilities, etc of the SPR. Filling began in July 1977.
Nathan,
Thank you for AGAIN proving my earlier point. Please try to learn about CONTEXT.
btw: “Internet” is short for interconnected networks, which happened in the 1980’s.
Cosmos,
You made a point earlier? I must have missed it.
I read an unsubstantiated claim, but didn’t see you make a point nor do I continue to prove it.
Actually cosmos I think it was the 70s. I used the old ARPANet back then.
139 posts already! The Liberal and Gay (L&G) WEBLOG is eating this up!
Salivating at the mouth to bad mouth an entire political party for the actions of a few.
Boogy boogy boogy
The queers are coming to get you…
heheheheheh!
And HOW many of these posters are gay?
(crickets chirping)
Why are STRAIGHT people so interested in posting on this thread?
(crickets chirping)
bigot.
Well, I guess that’s enough of stuffing the straights back into the closet, as one oh so witty poster said about “stuffing the homos” back into the closet…
Just try it.
And HOW many of these posters are gay? Posted by: ksfarmgrrl
The WEBLOG has an established reputation and record of postings related to gay rights. It is a proven higher incidence than average in blogosphere.
There is nothing bigotted in the remark. It’s a fact Jack.
It’s like San Francisco and it’s reputation, which is openly acknowledged by gays.
Don’t take it personal.
Jest be friends, don’t worry about the farm girl. Some of the rural areas in midwesternn states are slow to realize we don’t care about their preference. They are still sensitive to ANY comments other than their own on their situation.
Nathan,
If you believe that they’re exact synonyms, then from now on always use “invent” instead of “create”.
And always use “discovered”, instead of “found”.
Cosmos,
What is an “exact” synonym?
I thought a word was either a synonym or it was not.
Is there some catagorical system I am unaware of?
Sometimes sysnonyms…Exact synonyms…Maybe synonyms…
Perhaps you should read the definition of synonym and you might see what you are trying to say is there. LOL
Nathan,
Synonyms are different words with SIMILAR, or identical meanings. Usage also depends on context.
Exactly… LOL
Gore did not say “inventing”, and it’s clear from the context that he did not mean “inventing”.
http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in CREATING the Internet.
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in INVENTING the Internet.
Same differnece no matter the context.
If Nathan said, “I created that” (something that someone else “invented”).
Then I can say that Nathan said, “I invented that” — and criticize Nathan for claiming to invent something he did not invent.
It wouldn’t matter how I said it or Gore said it.
He neither created nor invented the internet.
Nathan,
The Internet was created by many people. Gore’s work and legislation in Congress was important.
Cosmos,
I would agree that Gore played a role.
His comment was over the top though.
He was called on it. Hardly some Republican media lie.
Gingrich didn’t think it was “over the top”. He said basically the same thing as Gore did.
Newt Gingrich, 9/1/00: “Gore is the person who, in the Congress, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet.”
Add to “invented”(sic), the lies/misquotes re ‘Love Story’, farm chores, fancy hotel, and Love Canal. That was step 1, make Gore appear to be a serial exaggerator.
Step 2, the RNC loaded every fact about Gore, his speeches, etc into a computer database — and then feed every tiny error Gore made in the debates, etc to media.
Cosmos,
Newt said nothing near in agreement that Gore created the internet.
He said the same thing I did, which Gore did play a role.
For someone arguing that there is a huge difference between invent and create you sure are trying to stretch Newts comments by saying he basically said the same thing…
Nathan, PLEASE try to learn how to parse sentences, and understand context.
BOTH Gore, and Gingrich refer to Gore’s work IN Congress.
Gore: “During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.”
“took the initiative” = taking the first steps = leadership = “most systematically worked”, during Gore’s service in Congress.
Newt Gingrich, 9/1/00: “Gore is the person who, in the CONGRESS, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet.”
Cosmos,
“make sure that we got to an Internet”
does not =
“creating the Internet”
Hows that for being able to “parse sentences.”
At least I knew what a synonym was…
Nathan,
Please tell all of us exactly HOW you get an Internet, if you do NOT create it?
Cosmos,
Now who can’t parse a sentence?
You left out two key words in front of that:
GOT TO
He said:
“make sure that we GOT TO an Internet”
Nathan,
You also do not understand past tense? You should take a remedial english class.
I don’t know cosmos, I think I am learning quite a bit teaching you things here.
Inventing is thinking of an idea that nobody has ever had before and making it.Creating is making something materialize, whether or not it has been invented yet, I think. They are similar words, but to the eloquent they carry VERY different connotations.
Example: Suppose I want to create online database of all the marine microbes found to date, accessible to oceanographers everywhere to facilitate research.
Also, suppose I am just a scientist, but not a programmer. I have the idea for this database and I write it up and get funding for it, and then I decide exactly what it should look like and what goes in and how people can access it, and then I hire a programmer to write the database for me according to my specifications. And then I recruit colleagues to help compile data and recruit cheap labor to type it all in.
Then suppose it gets HUGE, like GenBank huge, and millions people use it every day, and perhaps add to it. And then it’s not just marine microbes being added, but every single bacteria known to man as they’re discovered and it’s basically the go-to for all microbiologists.
Would you say that I invented this microbe database? Of course not, that sounds ridiculous. What did I invent? The programming language used? Did I invent the microbes? Did I invent the concept of a database? What did I invent, exactly?
You wouldn’t be able to say I created this database either, not exactly. I guess the programmer actually created it.
But, did I not take the initiative in creating it? Isn’t it still MY baby?
“I took the initiative in creating” does not mean “I created”. It means I followed all the steps to make sure it was created and so I can claim substantial credit for it existing. And “I took the initiative in creating” certainly does not mean “I invented”.
These differences should be obvious to any native speaker reading above the 8th grade level, Jesus.
Tara,Well, I’m no native speaker either, and I knew the difference. But then again, I never have my humanity shredded and rebuilt into a lean, mean, killing machine! :)
