Divorced Republicans shunned Iowa

Interesting how the no-shows at the weekend’s GOP straw poll in hawk-eyed Iowa happened to be the guys who’d been divorced: Rudy Giuliani (twice), John McCain and Fred Thompson. “The rest have been fighting over who opposes abortion the most,” noted New York Times columnist Gail Collins on Saturday, before Mitt Romney’s 32 percent triumph in the popularity contest.

What right do these “gooks” have to infect their religious beliefs into American politics and don’t give me that phony “right to life crap” { while they’re busy killing our soldiers, and Iraq citizens }.

You can’t have it both ways.

If you’re really all that concerned about life, as to want to protect it right down to “cells in a petre dish,” then at least stop being so hypocritical as to give our soldiers dying in Iraq the same protection.

How can you stand to look at yourselves in a mirror?

Ed: So, is there anything worth dying for? I think that you would agree that if a person can think of nothing, they are a coward. The silly illogic of your statement is thus exposed.

Now, most people think that getting into Iraq was a mistake. I do too. The question is, how to withdraw without leaving chaos and anarchy and many many more dead Iraqis, a lot of them children. Are the lives of Iraqi children worth fighting for, Ed?

And as an American I have every right to “inject” my opinions, whatever their source into the body politic.

    Outie,

With a grain of salt, look at the story on Basra (sp?). The Brits secured the area, things seemed OK, they started pulling out, now it is a bloodbath again.

Outie I think these people really like to fight. Just my opinion, but I think it really gets them off to kill and die for their faith. With that kind of mentality, will the fighting ever stop? How many decades should we devote to this kind of lunacy?

To tell you the truth, I think the only reason we are still there is that the oil isn’t flowing yet and the Iraqi’s haven’t signed over a major percentage of future production over to us yet. IMO, that damn oil isn’t worth a single troop’s life!!! What do you REALLY think the gubment cares more about; Iraqi peace, American lives, oil.

The United State rush-shipped 4 million cluster-bombs to our Israeli “friends” to leave behind as they left Lebanon. Those cluster-bombs are designed to appear to be toys. So far 44 Lebanese children have picked them up and died.

You said: “Are the lives of Iraqi children worth fighting for, Ed?”

The answer to that is easy: Stop bombing them every day and “clearing their villages” by going house to house and murdering everybody inside { nearly half of which are chidren }.

With the United States leaving Iraq, the consensus is that the killing would be reduced by at least half, so the “chaos” reason falls back to what it has always been: An Excuse not to leave.

You certainly have a right to your opinion, as wrong and hypocritical as it may be.

I agree SoDelVB – Bussh and Cheney went to Iraq for the oil. If the question about the control of the oil were settled today, I think we would see Bush do a 180 and bring the troops home. It is all about the oil.

Our country’s future depends on alternative energy. Isn’t it a shame that Bush has squandered how many billions of dollars to start a war, keep it going and he still does not have the oil. Bush started a mess but, unfortunately, he will not be the one that has to sacrifice for his stupidity. Our country will be paying the price for many years to come for what Bush and Cheney has done in the last 6 years. God help us.

If the divorced candidates cannot show their faces in Iowa, then how do they expect to go around the country and get people to vote for them?

Rudy is counting on all the fat cats in the Republican party to get him in. McCain, bless his little pointy head, still believes he is destined to become president. And Fred Thompson is nothing but an actor and that is the last thing we need is another B-movie actor like Reagan.

    Outie,

I agree with that as well. Responsibility. Take responsibility for your actions and do what is right.

You can lead a horse to water… You can establish some semblance of peace in Iraq… These folks are going to duke it out until THEY are satisfied. No amount of anything we do is going to change that. What have we REALLY accomplished in the last 4 years? 4 YEARS man, that is a long time. They still don’t have a reliable infrastructure because they blow crap up just as quick as or quicker than we can put it up.

The corruption is unbelievable both with the Iraqis and the American companies. Yet we keep piping in money and soldier’s lives. We are part of the problem. They don’t want us there and we have WAY outstayed our welcome. Al-qaeda is there BECAUSE we are there. We are part of the problem.

“With that kind of mentality, will the fighting ever stop? How many decades should we devote to this kind of lunacy?”

That describes the initial attack on Iraq { for the Israelis } and the continued slaughter which continues to this day.

The Israelis have always been concerned about reprisals for their raunchy and inhumane behaviour.

That was the reason to take-out Saddam’s Republican Guard and now the threats against Iran.

Meanwhile, one of my daughters is paying $40 every three days for gasoline to get to work and that $3 gasoline is eating a hole right through our economy.

Tell him he’s wrong and just like Fred will call you a fag, Ed will denounce you as a zionist. Bigotry is no different when its homophobia or anti-Semitism Ed and calling our troops baby-killers is pretty pathetic.

I’m waiting for any of the presidential candidates to come up with an alternative energy plan.

The only way the US can regain its super power is to become independent of the Middle East oil. That is the only thing the Middle East has as their hammer over our head. The US needs to get off the Middle East oil teat once and for all.

But when we have two oil men in the White House, good luck on that idea.

The Middle East has always been fighting and they will continue to fight long after we leave Iraq (if that ever happens). We are not the world’s policeman and we have troubles of our own to tend to like our own infrastructure. We need real leadership and try to fix what this cowboy has done the last 6 years.

Bush promised to restore honesty and integrity to the White House. Has he done just that or has he made things worse?

“Our country will be paying the price for many years to come for what Bush and Cheney has done in the last 6 years. God help us.”

You keep trying to divert attention to “oil” as the reason and not the real reason, which is Israeli expansion.

The price we’re all paying is for Israeli greed in both treasure and the lives of American soldiers.

The “Oil-Scam” hasn’t worked-out but clearing the way for Israeli expansion continues to climb over the bodies of both dead Americans and Arabs and soon to be Persians.

    The world isn’t being fooled.

The world watched as Bush/Rice sat on their hands and allowed Israel to devastate Lebanon.

Week after week of non-stop bombing. The senseless murder of a gentle people…

How about drilling in Anwar? Nope, can;t do that. How about drilling off the Florida coast? Nope can;t do that. How about windfarms off of Massachusetts? Nope. Can;t do that. How about ethanol? Nope, don;t want that. How about nuclear? Oh my god, you have to be kidding!

    LJ and maid,

How about this… Let’s put a 3$ tax on every gallon of gasoline. Use that $3 to start paying down our debt.

The US citizen will be slammed. That is the point. Until US citizens demand a better alternative than $6 per gallon gas, we will not get an alternative.

This is drastic, but the point being until enough Americans DEMAND an alternative, what is the motivation to quickly generate an alternative.

The government getting involved and giving subsidies and tax breaks is the EXACT wrong path to go down. Let the market and science determine the correct path – best example is Ethanol. Biggest straw man I have seen and heavily subsidized. Get gov’t out of the process. Bring on hydrogen/electric hybrids !!!!

Read the Israeli newspapers and let them tell you that they’re “behind” everything.

I don’t make the Zionists behave the way in which they do, I just report about it and you’d rather that wasn’t known.

“Let the market and science determine the correct path ”

Raising taxes a ridiculous amount is not letting the market determine the correct path. Just thought I would point that out,

I am not in favor of directing social, or market behavior, by taxes. Period. I was being facetious

First: There is nothing wrong with the Jewish Religion.

The name-calling “slogan” of “anti-Semitic” is supposed to mean that someone is disparaging a member of the Jewish Religion, but fails in that both Arabs and Jews share being “Semitic.”

Notice that the lady up-thread used the “shotgun approach” in going after me, and dug up Phelps as a last resort.

The “slogan” is actually used to change the subject of being criticized about some abhorrent behaviour into a religious slur of sorts.

It simply doesn’t apply, as good people can do bad things and bad people can do bad things and, of course visa versa.

It was cheaper for Halliburton to buy the oil from the Iraqis than to try to steal it.

It cost far less for the Iraqis to produce the oil, than for Halliburton to pay their guys {contractors} to produce it and ready it for shipment.

And with the small amounts being shipped, of course the price to Halliburton went up.

So the propaganda about “This was all about oil” is nonsense.

This was about Israeli expansion at the cost of higher priced oil and gasoline to Americans.

    Filled-up lately?

Only 14,000 Republicans attended the straw poll. Mitt Romney had a fleet of buses that he sent out all over Iowa to pick up his supporters and on top of that, he paid their $35 straw poll entrance fee.

Rudy, Fred and McCain knew it was a nothing and they knew Mitt was buying his votes.

A Democrat straw poll will be nothing also.

What matters is the caucus vote, which will probably be this December.

To be honest, New Hampshire is more important than Iowa in this primary game.
