Absence not making hearts grow fonder of Brownback

Kansans pay attention to whether their senators are paying attention to them. This month’s SurveyUSA poll showed a 45 percent disapproval rate among Kansans for Sen. Sam Brownback, who has missed nearly 40 percent of votes this year to campaign for president; his August approval rate was 47 percent, down 10 points since last September. Meanwhile, Sen. Pat Roberts, who’s keeping a high profile in the state in advance of his 2008 re-election bid, has seen his disapproval rate improve from 42 percent last October to just 33 percent this month; his most recent approval rating is 54 percent.

We’re probably better off when he doesn’t show up.

Don’t ever forget that Pat Roberts was the ONE MAN who could have stopped the insane war, and he traded a trillion dollars and the lives of thousands for a farm bill. He isn’t fit to sit in a Porta-potty, much less the Senate.

Watching Roberts, Brownback knows that if a Senator can be a complete failure as leader of the SIC, and get his approval ratings back by just doing a whirl wind tour, he has plenty of time to screw off. Kansans are such easy touches.

    “Kansans are such easy touches”

    True DAT!

Just read “What’s the Matter with Kansas” and you will KNOW that Kansas voters will take the bait and switch every time. They vote with their bibles and then bitch about their pocketbooks. And they wonder why…..

Pat just hasn’t done anything to make news headlines lately. As long as he’s out of sight, Kansans just trust he’s doing well for them.

    It’s like they just forget.

Well Pmom, he is “touring” the state right now. He’s in WaKeeney today, IIRC.

I bet all ten active repukes in the county show up, and… as John Prine says, they’ll be “stained glass in every window, hearing aids in every pew”.

heheheheh. The “future” of western Kansas includes a LOT of blue hair rinse.

In your imagination. Kansas is predominately a red state. It is blue on your little blog here, and in two of our cities, but the rest is red lady.

Why dont you show up today and see for yourself? I mean, if you are such a major player and all….

Time to go Sam. It’s been fun. It’s been nice. But it hasn’t been real fun or real nice.

This is the only thing Senator Brownback has one after two years of effort and it doesn’t mean a thing:

Brownback Wins Students for Life Straw Poll Demonstrates continued support among key activist base DES MOINES – The Brownback for President campaign today announced Senator Brownback’s first-place finish in the Students for Life of America presidential straw poll. Senator Brownback finished first with 23 percent of the vote, followed by Fred Thompson (22 percent), Mitt Romney (11 percent), Ron Paul (9 percent), Rudy Giuliani (7 percent), John McCain (5 percent) and Mike Huckabee (5 percent). The poll asked 650 members of Students for Life of America, “Who do you plan on voting for in the presidential primary election?” “Senator Brownback’s first-place victory in the Students for Life straw poll is a recognition of his unmatched efforts leading the fight to protect life,” said John Rankin, Iowa communications director of Brownback for President. “Senator Brownback’s campaign has surged forward through the energy and commitment of conservative college students. This latest straw poll confirms Senator Brownback’s strong support from this key activist base.

Equating Senator Roberts’ approval rating with the fact that he has been hiding out is a completely ridiculous argument. Senator Roberts’ approval rating is due to the fact that he’s been anything BUT hiding out. He’s been in Kansas, on the road for the past two weeks speaking with constituents and supporters all over the Western half of the state, starting in Wichita. Whenever I have attended an event with Senator Roberts, I am always amazed at the personal relationships he has with the everyday Kansan. He has more personal relationships and knows more Kansans than anyone I’ve ever come into contact with. I attended one of his townhall meetings last week where one person mentioned that this was the 30th time they had seen Senator Roberts in that town.

Senator Roberts just secured more funding to help rebuild areas damaged by weather. He just helped dedicate the finest learning facility for the military located in Leavenworth, which he worked to get to Kansas. His dedication to Kansas is clear. I think going to townhall meetings around the state shows how connected and in tune he is with the people of Kansas.

Why do we allow peopl we vote for to walk out on us. The State Treasure is about to. She pretty well already has. She helps the State Racketeer our resources. She is looking to change Office to get a Courtesy Pardon!!! Boyda has refused to assist us as Kansas Residents. She only Bribes the Government with Pentions and Pay Raises. Senator Brownback has NEVER supported any of us or our isuues! We should Vote wisely and refuse to allow him to return and/or remain as a U.S. Kansas Senator. We need a Politician, not a Thief!!!!!!!! Contact Kansas.City@ic.fbi.gov or call 1-816-221-6100 and insist on a Racketeering Audit of Kansas!!! Thius is the FBI. And btw, who’s representing Kansas while roberts is busy being bush’s senator and sam is busy being god’s senator?

It’s legislative recess right now, giving Senators and Congressmen the opportunity to A. go on vacation or B. visit with consituents in their state. I guess a person referring to Kansans as “touches” and “bluehairs” would probably choose option A if they were the elected officials. I am proud to have congressmen like Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts who choose their homestate as their August location of choice.

The only thing Roberts has repeatedly demonstrated is that he’ll put party and the president over his sworn congressional duties everytime. If anyone in the senate should have known how bogus the Administation’s rush to war, it should have been Roberts, and he had a duty to the nation to speak out. Also, a duty to the constitution to provide checks and balances in the govt. (not just the check bush raised for him).
