Madam.” He’s sorry for his sin, in marriage counseling, etc. One question is whether, should Vitter run again in 2010, Louisiana voters will return him to Capitol Hill, as they recently did Rep. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, D-La. Under the circumstances, this 2000 quote from Vitter’s wife, Wendy Vitter (on the adultery that ended the term of GOP Rep. Robert Livingston, whom Vitter replaced), is pretty rich: “I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary. If he does something like that, I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony, trust me.”

A problem is Congressmen and Senators having to live away from their families. But if everyone in the family moves to Georgetown or Arlington-Alexandria, how can the politicians claim to still be legal residents of their home states, and thus eligible to run as their states’ Beltway representatives? Or even if the law allows this legal fiction, what is the message sent to local voters? It’s a dicey situation.

If all that Vitter atones for is cheating on his wife, then Judgment Day, when he stands before the White Throne, is going to teach him a much greater lesson.

Allen, 48, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Veteran’s Memorial Park on East Broad St. in Titutsville. The park was under surveillance by a detail of undercover police officers.
Officers say they noticed Allen acting suspicious as he went in and out of the men’s restroom 3 times. Minutes later, he solicited an undercover male officer inside the restroom, offering to perform oral sex for $20. Officers realized he was a public figure after the arrest.

Amid increasing evidence that child molesters are sexual predators for life, Florida lawmakers are considering life for sexual predators.
State Rep. Bob Allen, R-Merritt Island, hopes to seize the opportunity of a special legislative session that begins today and runs through Friday to make headway with his “Sexual Predators Elimination Act.”
The measure, HB 251, seeks mandatory life sentences without parole or eligibility for gain time for individuals designated as sexual predators. Under Florida law, these are individuals convicted of sexual battery on a child 12 or younger, repeat sexual offenders, sexual offenders who use physical violence and sexual offenders who use or threaten the use of a deadly weapon.
“We need to lock them up and throw away the key,” Allen told WND. Otherwise, he says, they continue to prey on children and teenagers to feed a need that never goes away.
“I’ve done a lot of research on it. I’ve gone with the officers and probation officers to the homes of sexual predators,” Allen continued. “One of the sexual predators said it the best: ‘I want to do better. But, sir, it’s like if someone tried to sit you down guaranteeing you’ll do 15 sessions of counseling, and in that 15 sessions I’m going to talk you out of your sexual preference and get you to do something else.’”

“If somebody’s living a lie … they become fair game,” Flynt said, referring to Vitter’s “family values” stances and opposition to same-sex marriage.
Flynt said his investigations were not meant to be witch-hunts against frisky members of Congress — “I don’t care what their sex life involves,” he said — rather the goal is exposing hypocrisy.
“Unfortunately we have too many of these guys in Congress, and I’m going to do my part to get them out,” Flynt told reporters, adding that he doesn’t mind spending his own money to do so.
An ad that ran in the Washington Post last month offered $1 million from Flynt for information about people who had an illicit affair with elected officials. Flynt said Wednesday he paid $150,000 to run the full-page advertisement.
The exposure of Vitter came from Flynt’s cooperation with Palfrey in securing a complete list of her phone records, not in response to the Post ad, Flynt said.
Referring to his past court battles over indecency charges, the hardcore magazine publisher said the government “did everything it could for 15 years” to put him behind bars.

WASHINGTON — A woman accused of running a Washington prostitution ring placed five phone calls to David Vitter while he was a House member, including two while roll call votes were under way, according to telephone and congressional records.
Vitter, a Louisiana Republican now in the Senate, acknowledged Monday that his number was on the woman’s call list and apologized for a “very serious sin.” The married father of four has remained in seclusion since, missing Senate votes and other activities Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Telephone records released by Deborah Jeane Palfrey indicate she placed calls that were answered by Vitter’s Washington phone on five occasions while Vitter was in the House, from 1999 through 2001. On four of those five days, the House was in session and Vitter participated in every roll call vote.
One day was particularly busy in the House, with Vitter’s phone receiving Palfrey’s call in the middle of the eighth recorded vote of the day, at 5:06 p.m., according to the records.
